I am the owner and have been getting a lot of use out of the truck these past couple months. I really love and Brian did an amazing job on it. A couple replies to the comments. The sink just drains out the bed behind the rear wheel. I am finding I don’t use the sink very much at all. Mainly just to fill water bottles. If I need to use it where I can’t just let it drain onto the ground I can put a bucket or basin underneath the vehicle to catch it. Totally worked out with all the sizing of things. This is a mid height Leer top on it and when I am sitting on the bed with a 3 inch camping pad on it my head use clears the ceiling and it is quite comfy. I have sat out some rainstorms sitting inside with the he tailgate close but the window open and it is very cozy. The goal zero and wiring works like a charm. My Goal Zero is always charged when I need it and the electrics hardly draw from it. I am mostly doing weekend or two to three day trips so it is plenty. No need for solar at all. While the MaxAir fan on the roof is cool I don’t use it much so would probably skip it if I did this again. Only other thing is that I can’t access the drawer from inside the truck so just need to keep that in mind. I live in Southern California so it hasn’t really been a problem. Sitting on the tailgate and prepping dinner on the drawer is very comfortable and it is a great work surface. The work Brian did was fantastic and his build ideas based on my wishlist turned out great. Very happy with it!
Yes, it easily clears my standard garage door. The truck is a bit long but it will also fit in lengthwise too. Before I bought the truck I did a test drive and brought it home to make sure it would fit.
Very sweet! I drive a colorado with the same bed length and do a not so nice somewhat version of this. One thing after using mine for a few years that id like to change is the windows on the topper from the slider like that to the wing windows that lift and also slide, then you can access your stuff from outside fairly easy and also totally open up the window on a nice day and have it totally opened up by the sink and table area. I don't have the sink, but i carry a 5 gallon jerry can with the faucet. This one definitely hits real close to home and I've said it before, man if you weren't 2000 miles away id definitely hit ya up to finish mine out!
@@samuelyates4922 Im running a 6ft bed, I figured Id never need a crew cab 4 door, since id never be camping with a "crew" anyway. Extended cab is perfectly fine for my needs with it's behind the seat storage on the mini seats, it at least lets me have the 6ft bed.
nice and minimalistic. well done. I would have asked for the secondary platform to be on hinges, in sections. Remove the bedding, flip the "Nightstand" platform over, done. Same with the lower portion. It would give them a place to be stored, and ease of use. I sold my Canyon, but had I kept it, I would have considered such a design.
Or you just slide it in and store it on the floor. Put a couple of low profile finger holds or metal loops on the longer section and then it can be raised up while you are positioned on the upper section. It seems like it would be pretty easy to do, after a little trial and error practicing. Small section is a piece of cake.
Any chance you could do a *short* video of how you got into carpentry, your background and experience, and what pathways one can take in obtaining a career with carpentry and landing a cool gig like building builds?
Great build, simple design, and clean. If this were my build, I would have added a backboard to the bed (along the truck bed) for a bench back. Thanks for the video.
Hello, how are you? Beautiful project, what a good material, I congratulate you!!! I wanted to ask you a few things, I am carrying out a similar project and I wanted to know if on irregular or dirt roads, the dome is released, dust enters or something similar, I also wanted to know how it goes with the rain and some experiences that you have had that you would like to improve your project
I hope that Toyota behind the truck is another customer. I turned my Toyota Matrix into a camper car for a road trip a few years ago with minimal modifications, it would be cool to see what someone would do to a compact car with actual knowledge and more solid fixtures. Anyhow, cool build as always, I really dig the complex work you do while it aesthetically looking so simple.
2 Questions, Do you have a wiring diagram on how you did the charge setup for the Zero, and how tallis the bench from the base of the floor to the top. :Lastly. Would you be able to ship a similar rebuild for a 5.2ft Canyon>
Hopefully you can answer some questions for Me. How did you bolt/screw it down for easy removal? I love this design and having the option for removal would be amazing.
you are very good at what you do, alot of ideas, great attention to detail, I want to try something lie this on a new silverado in the spring. thanks for sharing
Have you got a video describing step by step how to create a build like this? For all the finer details included like how to attach the bottom 3/4" ply to the bed of the truck, how you attach the side drawer compartment to the side or bottom of the bed of the truck, wiring? You know what I mean. It would be such a great help as Im sure a lot of people out here dont know how to do these things.
Very nice 👍 If it was a higher top vehicle, you could have a second drawer and use the low one for cooking (perfect height for standing outside) and use the higher drawer for extra storage space, (maybe have those drawers open sideways (instead of the long way) for storage and access use inside of the vehicle.). Just thinking... I thought we need air circulation UNDERNEATH the mattress in order to prevent mold underneath the mattress ?
I love your videos! I just got a Canyon and I cant wait to build my set up. I want to do something similar but with benches on both sides instead of the counter, and the middle piece will be for a bed and table. Itll be great to stay warm in between ski touring. Thank you for the inspiration!
How do you support the lids for the cubbies inside the bed? Obviously they must be able to support a lot of weight, since you're lying down on it, but I can't see how the lids are supported from the video. Did you rabbet the edge of the opening?
It makes me so happy to see this, since I have a Canyon too. I was thinking van life down the road, but I want to make use of my truck too. When I use to do construction and bodyguarding, spent many a cold nights and sore backs on the road with a little camping mat and blankets. I'm done with that.. How much would you charge for a build like this?
How is your flooring constructed? It looks like a foam piece that fills in the dips/grooves naturally in a truck floor. Any links for that? Does that also help insulate against cold?
Wow that’s awesome, been looking for ideas for in the bed of my 2001 Silverado!! I like this set up, I subscribed I’ll be watching more appreciate you sharing
Such a solid work, love your videos. What a pity that you are not in Europe ;) I am planning to prepare hilux for overlanding and would love to work with you on that!
Definitely want this set up but reversed cause I’ll have a windoor on the driver’s side and it would be cool to do dishes/make coffee from the outside. I assume there’s a grey water tank somewhere?

Bullshit. If your the owner of this truck then do a video on the setup? What gear you carry etc.
@johnchiara2711 It’s tacky to ask how much. You could easily get a private quote from the actual Wood Worx guy.
weird to be that obsessed about it lmao@@adrianmartinez7170
This is one of the best builds I've seen since the vehicle camping renaissance began. It's simple, sleek and full of utility. Really well done, man.
I agree. True talent! Wish he was closer to the midwest. Would have my business for sure!
OUTSTANDING, I WANT ONE JUST LIKE THIS, EXCEPT NO SICK AND WATER. THANKS FOR SHARING
I really like the way you have it wired to the solar generator. Finally someone has a functional way to get it charged from the vehicle. Thanks,
AS ALWAYS, YOUR BUILDS ARE VERY WELL THOUGHT OUT AND VERY CUSTOMER SPECIFIC ! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.
Appreciate the efficiencies, lines, portability and … talents!
Amazing quality! Suggest Anderson Power Poles (30A) for all DC connections. Makes it fast and reliable. Your craftsmanship is top shelf.
That is a very nice build , I particularly like the wiring for the gol zero power
Very nice only thing I would change is have the bed extension on hinges where you could just fold it over
This is what I'll need for when I travel for work.
Need this for my long bed Tacoma. Take my money!
We have an 8’ truck bed, and I really like this general design for couples truck camping. Seems simple enough to do ourselves.
Did you end up doing it yourself?

What a great practical build. I love your work!
Perfect for what I need but truck beds in the UK are only 4.5 feet ish
Love the simplicity and low-profile builtout. Wonder what's the cost for something like this for my 22 Tundra 6.5Ft Bed.
dude!! this is so solid! seriously skilled!
Totally rocks this build !
You built a really nice usuble kit I love boondocks camp with a well equipped rig
Thks for posting, great info and I love your set up. Definitely a future project along with a titanium stove for the cooler nights.
Great build. Minimalist, just like I like it
Nice build... simple and good utilization of available space.
That's an awesome build! I dig the slide out. Perfect idea for a galley.
Hmm I think I would do a setup with indoor access more focused on using the space internally. Not enough stealth park factor for me.
This was not meant ot be a stealth build he is always camping out in the forest.
I want this for my 1995 Nissan hardbody.....so sick!
You do such nice work - functional, simple and well crafted. Thanks for sharing! I keep seeing ideas for my own ongoing home build.
Would love to do this with my Ranger!
Very good looking build, thank you for sharing
Great build + tour
Awesome build , simple not to crazy, perfect
To bad you are in California because I am in Florida, and I love your work & skills.
Great work dude.
Awesome build! Thanks for sharing
Is all that 3/4” plywood? This has me rethinking my configuration, very nice
I love this design and technique
Any chance you could do a *short* video of how you got into carpentry, your background and experience, and what pathways one can take in obtaining a career with carpentry and landing a cool gig like building builds?
I will be posting a podcast very soon about all that

Wanted to but he wanted it removable

@@danstankiewicz8222 I find that the back isn't a problem and I just have a pillow there.
Will you make any DIY 3rd gen Tacoma 6ft bed plans? I love this build and would like to do something similar.
Hopefully sometime this year!
Clean and neat build. Nice job.
Beautiful work
This is exactly what I want. Do one for me please! 2014 Silverado with same size bed as in this video.
Another nice build Brian!
Very clean work
This is the coolest build I have ever seen I would love to do this where are you guys located I want this same exact build for my pickup

Best system set up. Very clean

The wood floor is bolted down then the box are screwed down to that!

Your work and videos are always great! Consider maybe investing in a microphone that clips to your shirt - it would boost your sound quality!

You should have put a thin metal top where he will be cooking. Cause grease will mess up the wood
