- Join me on an overnight at a state park with one heck of a view! we are also testing out the new cot for the first time! Made some cheeseburgers in in the worst conditions i have cooks in before, and hiked steep!!! trails covered with a layer of ice.
Nice spot to camp and good call on the cot 👍
Yeah when the weather is a little more nice it's even better. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Great setup. I’m getting my truck ready for camping and am doing something similar. Suggestion for the space heater…those things love to melt the end on extension cords, even heavy duty ones. Better way is to get a Leviton portable outlet box. It’s a heavy duty molded rubber box that fits two standard household receptacles. Put two commercial grade 20 amp receptacles in the box and wire them to some 10/3 SOOW cord. Put a TT-30p plug on the end. You can now use the 30 amp trailer output in the campground power pedestal. Just be careful to balance the load so you don’t overload an outlet. If you’re not comfortable there is a company called AC Works that sells something similar. It’s called the TT30W515. Comes with a 25 foot cord. Now you can run more electrical items at once and no more melting cord ends.
Thanks for this video! Spent so much time trying to find a cot that will actually fit in the 72 inch bed of my Nissan frontier. This looks like an awesome option and pretty much exactly what I am looking for
Wyalusing State Park is beautiful, glad you enjoyed it.
If you put your heater on the floor you will get better and more even heat distribution. I have a little plug-in fan I use when I have shore power but I have a heated mattress pad I use in my solar battery when I am off grid also I just bought the UCO candelier 3 candle lantern it is rated for 5000 BTUs I'm going to try it out in my minivan no bill tomorrow night a little New Year's Eve solo boondock ! You can get one of those thermal fans and put on top of it to move the heat around free energy ! Other than that I have a couple rechargeable hand warmers and a 12 volt heated car seat cover I can plug into my solar battery. I love the truck bed concept with the no build it is exactly the same thing I'm doing in my minivan
I have the extra wide roll a cot 74x32x15 . Blue material. I got it for the same reason. Fits over wheel well , no middle leg .
I really like your setup, your making me realize I don’t need rooftop tent. I might just get the Leer cap that has a slight increase in height. I don’t want to be too tall, so I can go through a automatic wash. I don’t want to hand wash salt off my truck in winter.
I have a 2017 colorado wt and im looking to get a truck topper for a no build camper for me and my son. I have the whole inside of my truckbed line-x'ed and a thick rubber mar that came with already installed. I plan to buy a carpet lined topper with the bug guards for windows for about $1600. I cant wait because traveling and camping outdoors is something i love doing. Using my truck would be a great option.
I like your well thought out simple camping style.
There’s one cot for trucks that has a lower profile, 10 inches, still tall enough to clear the wheel well. Plus it’s rated for 300 pounds…50 more than the Roll-a-Cot. It’s the Woods Portable Quick Set-up Folding Adjustable 2-in-1 Camping Lounger/Cot.
Yes, four legs. And also doubles as a lounger.
Are they shorter than 68 inches?
@@ChubRock3 A simple Roll-a-Cot Google search will give you your answer.
@@ChubRock3 Yes. The Roll-a-Cot comes in various width and length sizes. Width from 28-32. And lengths from 67-84. Two different materials too. The blue one is mesh. The green one is cloth with a sleeve insert where you add a thin mattress. Rated for 300 pounds. Four legs. 15 inches high, easily clearing any wheel well. I have the GREEN POLYESTER WIDE IBEX ROLL-A-COT® 74"L X 32"W X 15"H WITH SLEEVE FOR YOUR AIR MATTRESS.
Highly recommend! 😎👍
Thanks for cot info! Enjoyed your video!
Great no-build setup. I'll be looking at that cot
Nice, keep them coming. Very enjoyable
Will do! Thanknyou Sir!

I'm in Florida, you're up north in snow and cold. Hope this header helps keeping your van warm. Nice vlogging 👍🙂
Thank you!
I'd love to get down to florida someday
@@DustyOutdoors_9113 If you do check out some of the places I've been. I've many videos of Florida State Parks and places. 🙂
@@FollowThomas I will do that! thanks for the info in advance!!!
@@FollowThomas I see your a biker as well! so am I, havnt done much on the channel yet with biking but plan to. I have a full suspension bike, gravel bike, and fat bike for winter all Konas.
Yeah, those stairs were steep as heck! You need to get some microspikes for that.
Good review of the cot.
Great camping place. Thanks for the video😁
Out camping again tonight, and I havnt left home without microspikes since that hike in this video haha! I learned my lesson
@@DustyOutdoors_9113 have a good camp tonight then😁
Rick @gonagain channel recommends a small fan moving air up from the floor in their cargo trailer camper to distribute heat.
Thanks for the video I’m looking at cots for Tundra with a canopy weekend no build camper
Yep that's a great suggestion! I have gotten a fan since making this video!
like the setup..whats the name brand of your electric heater
Brand is honeywell
Hey Dustin. Another Great vid. Man those burger buns were huge 🤣. Saw your last vid and left you a good comment there. Love the cot. Yes, Mayo over MW any day! Thanks for sharing.
Haha! Mayo all the way! Thank you for watching and commenting!
@@DustyOutdoors_9113 Try Japanese Kewpie, It’s the best tasting mayo!
I think I would have made2 burgers out of the 3 you brought with you. Those buns were huge!! Lol
This was a great vid. I really like the cot set up. I subscribed as well. Finally May Peace Health and Happiness follow you and yours
Thanks Bill! I appreciate you watching and subbing! Got another video coming out today at 8pm central time. Have a great day!
Lol, I feel the same way about mayo🤣. The only thing that can come close to Hellmann’s is Dukes 👍🏽
any thoughts on the a flooring material, to better insulate? seems that would make it perfect! good vid!
You should get one of this oil heaters. No noise and put out a lot of heat.
New sub here! Great content. Looking forward to more vids. Take care.
Thank you Sir! Its greatly appreciated!
Great video; what a lovely spot!
That cot looks comfy.
Just a small tip: heat rises, so more efficient to set it on the floor if you have room:)
Thanks for the tip, I have a new heating set up on the way that will be at floor level! Thanks for watching! Its greatly appreciated!
Great Video for me to see.....thanks. I just got my Roll-a-Cot 2 weeks ago. I got the 74X32 green one. It's actually exactly 72" long so it fits snugly in my truck bed which is 73.5". My mid rise shell isn't here yet and I've been a little concerned that headroom would be a problem. It's obvious from seeing this that you're good on that so I probably will be too. I also got a "Bed Rug" but haven't put it in yet. I'm waiting until the shell shows up b/c we've had well over 12' of snow (Tahoe) recently. I'll wait until the installation day before I put the rug down. Love the underneath storage and I'll be carrying the bedding rolled up on top of the cot. I wish the campgrounds around here had shore power but almost none do. Guess it's a Mr Buddy for me.
I would love to get a bed rug at some point. My topper is a high rise but its on a mid size truck so if you have a full size truck you will have more room then me. Thanks for watching and commenting. Keep me posted on the progress of your truck!
Hey, out curiosity what truck do you have? I have a nissan frontier king cab which the bed length listed is 73 inches. Im trying to decide if I want to risk it and get the 74 or just be safe and get the 67.
@@atooch213 I have a Toyota Tacoma. The 74 fits just fine b/c the actual finished length is a tad under 74. You can also shorten the length very easily if needed. When you assemble the cot you'll find that the short extension tube has the holes drilled for the leg pins are not centered on the tube so there is a long end and a short end to that tube. If you assemble with the longer segment outboard, the cot will be full length. If you assemble with the shorter segment outboard, it's a skosh under 70"
I like your vedeo!
A lot of you-tube channels list the major equipment that was featured. I would like to explore the cot that you used. Could you add the manufacturer and model and where it can be purchased on line? Thanks a million.
Camptime.com its called roll a cot
Very nice. I checked it out at the link you provided. Thanks for sharing this info.
Great video!
Thanks
I liked the video friend! I'll look into the cot. From Interior region of BC 🇨🇦
I love mine, wish I had got the green fabric one though so I could slide my inflatable mat into it.
@@DustyOutdoors_9113 Quick reply Ah! Ah yes. Good point... Any idea how big your mat is? Blessings on you and your wife! Happy camping!
My matt is 72inches long by 20 inches wide. By 3 inches thick. My matt specifically is the Teton Sports Altos
😅😂I wear Crocs in the snow For me used to live in Florida flipflop weather Now I can't stand shoes or boots

Nice thanks
Beautiful spot
Thanks for the comment! It is a beautiful spot!
Nice video and nice simple build. Did you insulate the truck shell yourself or did it come that way? If you did it what did you use?
I did it using reflectex and 3m spray adhesive
Will this cot work in a car with the front seat folded down and the legs sitting on the front and back seats?
not sure, i have never tried using in a car
I have the same cot (from Camptime) but with the green canvas. Only thing I could find to fit in my 69" bed. I cut the legs down so that I can actually sit up without having to bend my head down.
That is what I just did today no Joke hahaha! Out camping making a video right now for the first time with the legs cut down. My cot measures 65 inches long. Got a new truck since this vid and have the cot sideways in the ne that truck
I'm curious to know what mod you will make now. But I like it simple and easy
Video coming out tonight has an addition to the ceiling! Hope to see you in the comments! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Ive been looking for one for my 5 foot box no middle legs, hard to find.
Unfortunately I think Roll-a-cot only goes down to 67" whish is around 5.5ft...
Might be worth looking into though?
a pop top would kick butt..
Yes that would be very nice!
