- Update 3.12.23 - It has been two years and so far so good on the dealer replaced second window. My truck is garage kept.
Update 3.21.21 - sprayed Flex Seal into the top window gap from the outside in the event water could get in there and freeze or something next winter. Trying to be preemptive. You can use paint thinner to clean Flex Seal off the glass btw.
Update 1.29.2021 - My dealer replaced the back glass using a local glass company, and under warranty. I stand by the work I've done to bulletproof the third brake light lol.
Update 1.20.2021- the dealer has now diagnosed the back window with smoke or vapor, and told me the frame is cracked. I still have a drip of water here and there. I am torn between having the dealer replace the entire window (RIP back vinyl and I hear the new ones have ugly white defroster lines?) and filling the entire freaking gap with RTV and calling it a day. I believe the leak in this video, that WAS fixed (until the crack) was from improperly applied sealant at the factory. It was coming in on the driver's side on the back glass right at the seal and dripping at the corner. I am satisfied with my work on the third brake light, but the water is a real pain!

I’ve been in the auto glass business for 37 yrs and I work exclusively for dealerships. The problem is the plastic encapsulation frame at the top of the power slider is stress cracking and the water is running thru the cracks. They had the same problem with the Jeep gladiators. They have redesigned that back glass where you are urethaning directly to the glass instead of the plastic frame. They need to do this to the 19 and up 1500’s. The 2500 and 3500’s do not have this problem. If they are leaking it’s the 3rd brake light. Just a terrible design! To really fix this you need to replace the glass. Only bad thing is it may stress crack also. Ram needs to fix this problem. I hate it. Those back glasses are a nightmare to replace. 🤷🏻♂️

You can purchase a new 3rd brake light assembly (part no. 68298380AH LAMP-CENT) for $37.65 from the dealership, at service and parts. Dodge will install it at a labor charge of $30.00. I think the leak problem occurs because if you park your truck outside, the sun damages the gasket seal. So it will need to be replaced every 3-4 years.
Thanks for the video. Mine started leaking and the dealership refused to repair it. They said it was out of warranty. Thankfully my insurance covered the +$1000 repair. However 2 months after it was replaced, it started leaking again! Taking it back for another replacement. Im going to try that sealant hopefully it works. If you own one of these RAM keep an eye on that. They should have done a recall.
That is too bad. It’s a defect that is not user instigated, so Ram should cover it. My understanding is they don’t consider it a safety concern hence no recall. But Ford took care of the new Bronco roof issues. I love my truck but not impressed with the way Ram has handled this.
I have the same problem, CDJR dealershop refused my request, 100% agree with you they have to recall the issues..
There are two trim (Ditch Trim) strips on the roof at third brake light level. (Left and Right) the water follows these trim pieces, dumping water on my headliner. Park uphill, water fills the storage under rear seat. Park downhill, water comes out the front grab rails. 😡🤬

THANK YOU!!! I literally started having this problem about a few days ago. I was clueless as to where the water was coming from. After watching this clip and after I took the headliner off. I ran the water hose on top of the truck until I could pin point where the water was coming from. And then Whalllaahhh!! Water dripping front The same area above the back window. Going to get some sealant tomorrow and seal it up. Hopefully it works 🤞🏿.

So many Dodge owners having problems with their back window leaking. I’m on my third window from Safelite on my 08. The rubber seals for the sliding window continue to leak allowing water into the track. If it rains hard enough that track overflows and water runs down the back of the inside of the cab. I’m being told this is normal. That’s bullshit as far as I’m concerned. I’ve had many other Ford and GM trucks and never had this problem. Brand new windows should not leak day one.

I have a 2008 Dodge Ram and I notice my floors under the seats are wet when a nice rain hits what can I do they told me my third break light I had it done over new gasket and sealed this is a major problem the moisture has blown My factory speakers
@@rampaig6 - I had to put tape over top of the rubber seals all the way around the middle sliding window. I was originally getting water between the cab and the window itself. That has since been repaired now I only get water in through the rubber seals and the small window in the middle. I’m going to take it back to Safelite again next week but I doubt there is anything they will do. If they won’t help me I’m going to call the manufacturer. This is ridiculous.
@@rampaig6 I have heard sometimes it’s the vent behind the back seats. There should be two, one behind each seat. Worth a look.
2017 Rebel - interior moisture after rain, mold on carpet behind back seat; took to the dealer, they claimed it was the third taillight leaking. Outside factory warranty, Allstate extended warranty (purchased FROM Dodge) doesn't cover water leaks 🤔. Cost of dealer repair, light assembly, cleaning...$800. OUCH.
Within the year after that repair, more leaking/mold. Back to the dealer who now claims back window seal leaking. They wanted to replace the entire back window, plus cleaning, est $2600. Um, NOPE, NOT gonna do that. I may try the safelight window replacement idea, or just sell the truck and get a Ford. SOOO DISAPPOINTED in Dodge customer service 🤬
As a glass tech dodge has a recall on them the has cracks on either side of the middle sliding window. Never apply silicone to your car or truck because it retains water and will eventually cause rust
No recall has been ever been issued by Ram for this issue. However the glass, if cracked as you described, can be replaced under warranty. Read the description of the video.
i have same problem on my 2020 limited olso when im about 90mph i hear wind coming in thgru drivers door window

I am still water free. The flex seal may have done it. I dont know! Or maybe it’s luck. It didn’t hurt that’s for sure.
I have used caulking all around my window, the third brake light and the antenna, i still have water coming in!!!
It’s a bummer. In the description I talk about ultimately having the window replaced. This was my first attempt to fix, and it seemed to work for a few months then the frame cracked. Hoping the replacement window fixed it.

I did the same thing after my window frame cracked, but I just sealed the outside and went ahead and sealed the brake light and fin.

Did you notice condensation on the front windshield because of the moisture in the back? I thought it was the glass that had to be resealed but the dealer claims it might be the third brake light.
No. If it’s a fifth gen it’s most likely the back glass. Do you have the vertical lines or cracks up top near the sliding window?
@@venomrebel2020 Yeah its 5th gen 2019, doesn't have any cracks from what i can tell though. Even the morning dew causes it
I've got a 2014 cummins, and now having my 3rd water leak problem. First time was my 3rd brake light, 2nd time was my rear cab vents, now a 3rd time I'm clueless where is coming in at after searching. No one body shop is interested in helping for fixing it smh.
I’ve heard of both of those problems. The dealer diagnosed with smoke/pressure. It was under warranty and ended up being the cracked frame on the rear glass. A local glass company installed the replacement so I hope it will last. I have heard the theory that it involves freezing water? I don’t know. It could just be a flawed design that fails with cab flex. I have sprayed flex seal in between the glass and cab… bulletproofed the 3rd brake light…. Caulked around the antenna. Seems like an issue I shouldn’t have with a $50K truck. However, if that’s the only issue, I’ll be grateful. So far 35k miles that is all. Your Cummins should live forever, eh?

You’re probably right. It’s fixed now though. I’m kind of possessive of my vehicles. I once told a car salesman I wouldn’t take the extended warranty for free 😂😂 he said what if I mowed your lawn for free? I said I’d tell him to get the hell off my yard 🤷🏻♂️ thank you for watching brother
@venomrebel2020 I had mine replaced under warranty. Only saw it happen to handful of trucks. But they also included a detail with it!
Wha did they fix under warranty? The cracked plastic on the glass frame?
You would think after all these years Dodge would get this right. I’m trying to figure out this issue on my 2008. If I ever go for a Cummins again it will have a Nissan logo on the cab.

I'm just going to throw a tarp over mine. My 2020 limited i recently got leaks during all night rain.
Is your warranty up? If not take it in and see what they say. That’s what I did. They smoke tested it, confirmed a leak and had a local glass place replace it. So far, so good.
