So now I'm sitting here balling my eyes out going over all the memories of me and my Dad listening to Pink Floyd. He passed away a few years ago and it still hurts just as bad. I miss my Dad so much.
you guys are making me cry, that's not a bad thing. i'm 57 my dad died at 75, 6 years ago. God the shit he and my mom did for me and my brother. Six am hockey practices on a sunday morning in january etc etc etc. My computer is in the basement of our original house and all his books and art supplies and his tools are all around down here. I cry for a minute every time I come down here. I still share the house with my elderly mother, and we still talk about dad alot. Damn he was a funny, talented man. Sorry, I don't talk about him too much at all and i had to get that out.. Cheers from canada.
@jeffcampbell668 I understand what you go through in your basement. I inherited the property that I spent most of my life at as a kid to teen and young adult. Now everywhere I look there are reminders of my Dad and memories of time spent with him. My Dad passed away in Oct 9, 2019 from lung cancer and even now at 4 years and 1 day later the pain still hits me just as hard. My condominium and sympathies to everyone who has lost someone close.
The hole never heals - but, good that you have memories of being TOGETHER!! Lost my hubby in December, last year...and, we were both HUGE Floyd fans. I feel your pain...and, I feel your JOY in memories! HUGS!! ❤
Congrats to you two for actually getting the lyrics. So many reactors get this song all wrong. The music is warm and soothing but the lyrics are hard and often painful. Kind of like life. Well done.
Especially the last line. Some get the over protection but no one else has gotten the last line. They just here the word 'high' and think it has something to do with drugs. Drives me crazy because that line is what the song is all about.
This song hits SO HARD...and, the last line drives me to tears, every time. For anyone who's experienced anything NEAR what the lyrics of the song convey: it's chilling and so MOVING! Whether out of love, or not: it is suffocating and affects you for YEARS. HUGS, YOU-GUYS!! ❤
Ma'am, your understanding of the lyrics was absolutely amazing. This is a deep and wide song. Younasked 'am I stupid?' No. You are insightful and eloquent and impressive.
At times I think this is their best song on so many levels. The build-up, the lyrics and their complete contrast to the lovely melody, the (extended) solo, the absolutely maniacal time signature changes from anything between 4/4, 3/4, 5/6, 5/8, 9/8, 8/8, 5/8, 6/8. It's madness rolled into a tune that sounds so simple. The drum fills and the piano. Love it!
I didn’t connect very well with my mother, however the one thing we did have in common is a love for Pink Floyd, she gave me that and I’m grateful for it.
Of all the undeniable masterpieces that Pink Floyd has given us, this is my favorite tune in their repertoire. It's the first tune I learned to play on guitar.
You are both really insightful. Thank goodness you didn't mistake this as a tribute to mothers everywhere, which is often the case with reactors. The dichotomy of apparent care while suffocating Pink is also reflected, as you pointed out, in the melodic nature of the song, which is in fact quite dark. Well done.
Thank you - Roger's ability to write coherently from deep emotional thoughts about his own existence are an integral reason you two, and almost all who listen, come to consider PF as having intellectual depth. You couple that with the entire band's ability to engage with the experience of the lyrics and create a musical platform to deliver the "innocent" acoustic portion from Roger and then the "overbearing" guitar whine of Mother's responses. You put put this together with pointed and pretty background vocals and keyboards to fill it out. It's just a great production and a perfect piece in this story.
I THINK EVERYONE IS TIED TO THIS SONG IN SOME WAY!!!!! PERFECT REACTION TY !!!! MY MOM DID THIS TO ME TOO IM A MAN BROUGHT UP BY A SINGLE MOTHER SHE DID HER BEST TO RAISE ME THE WAY SHE DID
Love your discussion on Pink Floyd Mother. You're wife has got it right. Keep her. She's a good woman. Where are you two living? Nationality? Can't pin it down. Cheers. Keep it up
I`ve been telling people since I first started listening to Pink Floyd in 1971 that they are the greatest band of all time and I still believe that to this day.
Once again, you guys just knock me out..another EPIC reaction/response video! I love the way you understand that there is so much more to Pink Floyd's music than just instrument noise and words -- it is an intellectual, sometimes life-changing, journey, no matter how many times you listen to the same tracks.
Thank you so much for your reaction to the song. I connect with this song more than any other song on this album. It really spoke to me as a child even more so as Mother. Both of my daughters are older than 25. I have talked to them about my love for this album and especially this song. A few times jokingly they would call Mother and asked me to pass them a brick. it’s a great way for them to let me know when I’m overstepping my boundaries and being a smother.❤️✌️🌼
Obrigado.
Excellent and astute reaction! So many people don't get the darkness of the song, which is about enmeshment, and interpret it as a love song. Well done
Beautiful reaction guys and of course I very much enjoyed it. Really interesting topic and discussion as well. I know you get a lot of comments recommending you listen to the whole album and of course I recommended the same. But I think this song proves that some songs on this album can also be understood and relatable outside of the album. Which I think makes this album even more remarkable. ❤
Since you don't seem to shy away from longer songs, such as some of TOOL's etc.. Danny Carey's Drum Cam, and you also liked Pink Floyd's Echos live at Pompeii, may I suggest a something song from a group that came out about the same time as Pink Floyd, around 1967. Give , this video a try, it is Iron Butterfly - In A Gadda Da Vida - 1968 (Original Full Version) It is a black and white video, playing live and is about 17mins long. Also, the guitarist in the band was only about 17 years old at the time. Thanks.
Pink Floyd's "The Wall", in my opinion is their most complete album, so deep and twisted, and the voice of Roger Waters fits perfectly, that mad and crazy sings and screams mixed with the guitars, drums and keyboards and synth, just amazing, I hope you can react to more songs of the album, but it has to be in order, so you can understand the story that's been told
Your strong devotion to each other and too the music is what makes this reaction video one of THE TOP TIER reactions on UA-cam. The fact that you found and reacted to a Next Level version of Floyds Mother, is also incomprehensible at this moment. Well done! And Thanks for the video !❤
should always do the studio version first folks, this is nice but the studio is a masterpiece.think their genius touches sometimes get lost in the mix live
This album version (is there anybody out there) is my all time favorite recording of the wall. I can appreciate the original recording. However, there is so much more nuance in this recording that i'll take this cut over the rest.
The initial idea of the Wall was to a large extent a autobiography of Roger Waters. Despite they removed later a lot of such elements some must have remained. Probably after the super early death of his father, his mother probably was super protective with little Roger and this could be the inspiration of the song. One of the best in the album, very beautiful song.
Roger Waters who wrote this song does a Live version with Sinead O'Connor on vocals and its absolutely beautiful and worth consideration of a future reaction
This song is best heard within the context of the whole album The album being a full story and not just individual songs; however, this song is set in the era of ww2 in Britain. The album itself is actually dedicated to their first singer, Syd Barret, who went crazy and died lonely and in extreme anguish. Much of which was brought on by heavy use of Acid (drug). This song shows the overbearing narcissistic nature of his relationship with his mother, though Roger Waters said it was based on his experience, who really knows. As you can tell there is a neurotic overshadowing presence in the relationship itself. Great song. This is one I love to sing myself, because it’s within my vocal range. A very head trippy type of song for sure.
I knew you two would understand the complexity of the message in the lyrics. Many reactors see it as a celebration of mothers and everything they sacrifice to always be there for their sons. That...horrifies me. Also, I do prefer the studio album version, but this one is good too.
this is one of the few songs on the wall that can stand on its own. i love this live version with the extended guitar solo. i was fortunate enough to see this concert in 1980. i hope i live long enough to see a complete high quality version of the concert film released. supposedly roger waters has it under lock and key and due to legal reasons can't release it on his own.
ha ha I used to listen to this double LP...but on cassette lol..all the time. You have to watch the movie a couple of times and listen to LP a few times...it does all make sense.
The album version should be your first exposure to most songs. Even Pink Floyd's material, even though their live performances usually are fantastic. Like this one.
Always love your thoughtful reactions guys and PF do provide much food for thought. I watched the Wall movie for the first time last week and it has left me with mixed feelings. I love PF music especially (DSOTM and WYWH) and it is always going to be hard to live up to those masterpieces.
You get it. Some other reactors only get the sugar n not the salt. The album version has me picturing a young boy holding in the tears at the "for me" and the "to me" part before she says the vicious "you'll always be baby to me" Heartbreaking every time
If you liked this one, you would really like the studio version. It's not radically different or anything, but it has much better sound quality than the live version does, and the studio version is the one that most of the people in the comments section probably grew up with, and knows by heart, note-for-note 🙂
You need to check out the entire Movie, Pink Floyd's "The Wall" to get the entire concept of the story. In 2019 I went to watch the Lazer Show at Harrah's Lake Tahoe Showroom and they didn't play this. We were so bummed. 😭 Happy belated 4/20😁😎

i think a lot of people that have issues with all kinds of things in the world that effect them in negative ways, will at some point, look back to how it all started.. and of course see their parents, and other childhood experiences.. and theyll focus a lot on that, and perhaps blame everything on those early things, although its much more than that.. in the wall however, i dont think thats the case, but it is the first blocks of a wall that can be built.. not that one can go through life with no barriers.. because of course, the world filled with bad people.. but a wall can quickly become a prison, and a very lonely torment
So now I'm sitting here balling my eyes out going over all the memories of me and my Dad listening to Pink Floyd. He passed away a few years ago and it still hurts just as bad. I miss my Dad so much.

@@Levi_Amongst_the_Watchers Onma lighter note you said 'my condominium.' :)
Gotta love Dominika's face when fan-crushing on David Gilmour 🥰
You know I've been trying for weeks to come up with what you just said
I have a crush on David Gilmour, as well 🥰
Gilmour without Waters would be another Gary Moore.
Perfect vision 😮
As a woman, those googly eyes are unmistakable, lol.
"Suffocate" is an excellent choice of words, man. I lived it, so I know........... Thank you guys for your reaction!
"Mother will she break my heart?"
She shattered it. 😭😭

Very well spoken. Mother. One of the largest bricks in the wall we throw around outside.
My two favorite reactors, bar none!!! 👍👍
I didn’t connect very well with my mother, however the one thing we did have in common is a love for Pink Floyd, she gave me that and I’m grateful for it.
...a very kind thing to say! ❤
Of all the undeniable masterpieces that Pink Floyd has given us, this is my favorite tune in their repertoire. It's the first tune I learned to play on guitar.
Never get tired of this one, thx Roger , masterful david double solo too 😪😪😎😎

Love your discussion on Pink Floyd Mother. You're wife has got it right. Keep her. She's a good woman. Where are you two living? Nationality? Can't pin it down. Cheers. Keep it up

The video of this song from the movie “the wall” is amazing and explains so much
Wow, this is the best live mix I've heard of this. Excellent.
"Mother did it need to be so hiiigh"?
Hey Mother Leave the Kids Alone ❤
Another great, provocative song from The Wall. Love it!

I think pink floyd is your favorite band... For me to
oh sweet my favorite pink floyd song hello everyone
My very first concert in August 1980 at Earls Court, London. Still my best concert ever!!!!!
Your strong devotion to each other and too the music is what makes this reaction video one of THE TOP TIER reactions on UA-cam. The fact that you found and reacted to a Next Level version of Floyds Mother, is also incomprehensible at this moment.
Well done! And Thanks for the video !❤
I recommend you listen several times
should always do the studio version first folks, this is nice but the studio is a masterpiece.think their genius touches sometimes get lost in the mix live
Completely agree. Live = more organic and dynamic, but often less polished and clear, the message sometimes muddied. Brilliant, all the same
This album version (is there anybody out there) is my all time favorite recording of the wall. I can appreciate the original recording. However, there is so much more nuance in this recording that i'll take this cut over the rest.
Such a beautiful sounding song, one of my favorites 👍
Another beautiful Floyd song. Thank you for this one. Love Andrie's shirt! Have a great day and God Bless!🐢🇺🇸
You are sporting a very nice flag shirt today ✌️
👍😀

I'll always tell people this is the greatest tour of all time.
The most important thing to teach your kids is how to live on their own.
Over whelming is an understatement.
You guys got a good show, I saw Floyd back in the 70's. They are a trip! Awesome they are live.
Bittersweet is the perfect word for this song
Your right wait to react at the end of music & video. This way your listeners will appreciate your channel more.
Fantastic analysis
Feeling grateful that my mother encouraged rather than suffocated like the one in the song.
I am glad to have found you on UA-cam, enjoy your comments after each song 🎵 Rock on”.

Live at Earls Court…. The best performance ever
I knew you two would understand the complexity of the message in the lyrics.

That...horrifies me.
Also, I do prefer the studio album version, but this one is good too.
You get it…
The movie deserve to be watched before listening the album, songs then perfectly fit together like bricks in a wall....
This is a total Pink Floyd vibe. 😎
this is one of the few songs on the wall that can stand on its own. i love this live version with the extended guitar solo. i was fortunate enough to see this concert in 1980. i hope i live long enough to see a complete high quality version of the concert film released. supposedly roger waters has it under lock and key and due to legal reasons can't release it on his own.
Just love this. A real classic.
Thank you. Great reaction.

Mother is gonna put all her fears into you 🤘
Thank you ❤
Thank you!!
The album version should be your first exposure to most songs. Even Pink Floyd's material, even though their live performances usually are fantastic. Like this one.
Fully agree. Live performances rarely come across the same unless you're already familiar.
This album was a real concept piece set in the life of their first singer Cyd Barret, who sadly went insane and died alone in his anguish
Always love your thoughtful reactions guys and PF do provide much food for thought. I watched the Wall movie for the first time last week and it has left me with mixed feelings. I love PF music especially (DSOTM and WYWH) and it is always going to be hard to live up to those masterpieces.

Should have went for the original studio version.
Phenomenonal ❤❤
Gitarowe solówki Davida i teksty Rogera momentami naprawdę przyprawiają o łzy.
You get it. Some other reactors only get the sugar n not the salt. The album version has me picturing a young boy holding in the tears at the "for me" and the "to me" part before she says the vicious "you'll always be baby to me" Heartbreaking every time
Tutto giusto.... bravi!
Again you knocked it out of the park !
Great reaction again. Loved your analysis.👍👍
What is it that those "Wwhoooaahh" do to send chills down my spine?
If you liked this one, you would really like the studio version. It's not radically different or anything, but it has much better sound quality than the live version does, and the studio version is the one that most of the people in the comments section probably grew up with, and knows by heart, note-for-note 🙂
Thanks for the great review!
You need to check out the entire Movie, Pink Floyd's "The Wall" to get the entire concept of the story.
In 2019 I went to watch the Lazer Show at Harrah's Lake Tahoe Showroom and they didn't play this. We were so bummed. 😭
Happy belated 4/20😁😎
Great tune! Your reactions are great and I love your American flag t-shirt.
Beautiful and devastating
I'm not the biggest Dixie Chicks fan but I will say, Natalie maines does a fantastic cover of this
Sinead does this song with Roger waters in a Germany, I believe , it’s an epic live performance
Both of yous love David Gilmour and you have already reacted to Echoes in Pompei, but you would love the new version from David Gilmour Live in Gdansk it was Richard Wrights last concert before he died and David said he would never play that song again.
Remember: it's about Roger's mother, The Wall album is an autobiography by Waters.
Thank you very much for this brilliant, informative video ❤, certainly The Wall Tour 1980. It shows the duality of Roger and David when singing, how they complemented each other very well, because neither of them is a good rock singer, it was certainly revised later in terms of software.
All the good songs from the concept album The Wall alternate, see English Wikipedia; David is not credited as a co-writer there; In short: difficult topic. I only saw them live in 1975+77; both with mostly rough vocals.
Tip, fits thematically and in my opinion is one of the first songs where D.G. really gets started on the guitar / can get started as a late addition, a predecessor of Echoes: Embryo played live in 1970+71.
There is a video, don't know if it's official; important a around 11'-version, not the original accustic around 5-version.
grandma and grandpa came from Germany so I think your accents I can understand..Funny but true
This song is about a boy and the “Wall” his mother builds around him to protect him.
Too much love is worse than none at all! "Which one's Pink"?
Never. EVER. Stop during a David Gilmour solo.
Gilmour unic ❤
My brother is similar to your cousin. He's 56 years old. He served military from 17-21. Came back and bought a house. He's never been married. Never had a girlfriend. Has one friend. Talks to our Mother almost everyday. I haven't talked to him for twenty years
Sad 😟
I noticed the shirt Yes USA!
On the album mom lost her husband in the war. Pinks Dad. This is why the fear and building of the wall.
Adds a new meaning to 'spoiling' your children, eh?
Y’all should do a double of tool!! Pushit and then the salival live version of the same song! I promise your minds will be blown!
I love Pink Floyd and your reactions are the best, I also feel every song with my whole heart!! And can’t explain why or how but I love it!❤❤❤
Nobody's named pink her seriously listen several times. You'll see.
Como dizia o filósofo. Nada do que acontece ao homem que não seja próprio do homem!
You will love "Mother" by John Lennon.
i think a lot of people that have issues with all kinds of things in the world that effect them in negative ways, will at some point, look back to how it all started.. and of course see their parents, and other childhood experiences.. and theyll focus a lot on that, and perhaps blame everything on those early things, although its much more than that.. in the wall however, i dont think thats the case, but it is the first blocks of a wall that can be built.. not that one can go through life with no barriers.. because of course, the world filled with bad people.. but a wall can quickly become a prison, and a very lonely torment
