15:47 I don't understand this argument. She finds the Kia less intuitive but also says that the M3 wasn't very intuitive in the beginning but purely because she drove it a lot it's become very natural. That's called muscle memory... If she would drive the EV6 for a prolonged amount of time it would also be more intuitive for her. Weird argument against the KIA I must say...
I also felt like Kia had a disadvantage because the reviewers hadn’t lived with it like they had the Tesla. I watched another reviewer and they said they got used to and really liked the Kia interface after driving it a week
I’ve driven a M3 for 4 years and I still hate that the windshield wipers aren’t a button. Still not intuitive… always have to look at the screen - not a great option when rain is requiring eyes on road. One of the reasons I’m considering switching to Kia - along with four wheel drive and more room in back seat.
@@marleneroseboom7369 couldn't agree more. I used to work at Tesla so I've driven every model except the Y. The earlier Model S and X where never such a big problem for me to be honest, also in part because you have a screen right in front of you. I honestly didn't like the Model 3 at all because it went overboard as a gimmick in my opinion. I personally drive a Kia E-Niro and my parents drive an EV6. That EV6 4 wheel drive GT line is by far the best car I've ever driven. If you have the possibility I'd definitely recommend getting it 😉
@@marleneroseboom7369 interesting question, and my honest answer would be: I don't know. I'm from the Netherlands myself and my country has been a very early adapter of electric driving. That in combination with the high population density means that charging infrastructure is already in a very mature phase here. Canada on the other hand is such a vast county that charging infrastructure just can't really be on the same level. Where Tesla has superchargers other companies still mostly rely on 3rd party providers of long distance fast charging. From just a quick search I found the website Chargehub on which you can search for charging stations in North America and filter if you only want fast chargers. I'll be honest, I only use fast charging on holidays here and just plan out my route with stops in advance. It's not as easy as the Tesla system where it calculates for you but I've never encountered issues. Here most gas stations along the highway have multiple fast chargers and even Tesla superchargers are about to open to non Tesla cars. I'd recommend just checking which providers are most common in your area and request their charging cards.
Great video thanks. From considerable personal experience of both EV6, and Tesla M3, long term Tesla fan, and Kia owner. Here are some findings: 1. EV6 is bigger, mainly wider. It makes it a bit more challenging to navigate the smaller UK roads, parking, and width restrictions 2 EV6 ride, comfort, and noise levels are better. Rear leg comfort much better. Fit and finish is near perfect. 3. EV6 is easier to switch to for those coming from ICE cars with traditional design dashboards/instruments 4. M3 is technically more advanced, more driving assist potential, and over the air updates, but Kia may catch up with Nvidia drive 5. M3 Long range may have slightly more range, but not much in it. The EV6 will of course rapid charge over 200KW/h where supported 6. M3 feels brighter and less claustrophobic compared to the all black interior of the UK spec GTLine/S ..(come on Kia UK.. get us a lighter interior or at least a light roof lining) 7. the 7 year warranty of the EV6 wins hands down, along with the huge and brilliantly helpful Kia dealership
For the accumulator and the drivetrain there are 8 years of warranty or (192.000 Km) at the Tesla. These are the most important parts of the car. And my biggest problem with the KIA EV6 AWD is thirsty 26 + KW/100km at 120 km/H while Tesla model 3, 18 KW/100km at 120 Km/H. But I still don't know which one should I pick. :)
@@Xewo7777 good point about the drive train warranty, however it's the other minor faults that may not be covered on the Tesla after 4 years. The EV6 AWD real world UK winter motorway range is about 250 miles. This was proven recently by RSymons test on UA-cam.
@@neilbrandon all right, ty the info about the winter range, I saw that video too, But here where I live, the motorway speed limit is 130km/h which is around 80 MPH. I don't think so RSymons drove with that speed, if I remember well. :) In the UK the speed limit is 70MPH, right?
Most folks could only buy the model 3 before the likes of EV6.. thats why for few years the model 3 sells the most at the moment. Not for long. It looks like a normal sedan. Ev6 is a game changer.. + the new Gv60 and GV70 E V.
While I appreciate what Tesla has done for the auto industry, I don’t like the guppy-looking styling of the Model 3 or Y. The EV6 is so much sharper and exciting-looking than the Tesla. All the points you make are quite valid, but I’ve owned an Optima for 10 years and you can’t beat Kia’s build-quality and warranty, let alone sporty styling. I also hate the lack of gauges, in front of the steering wheel and Kia has the amazing heads-up display and safety features that go with it. There’s also the lane-changing screens that pop up when you turn the blinker on, which you didn’t even mention. Other little things not mentioned the EV6 has over the 3 are the coat hooks, built into the backs of the front seats (all you mentioned was the plastic), the sliding cover on the rear seat armrest cup holder, allowing versatility, or the fact the rear vents are mounted on the B pillars, for better airflow, like luxury German cars. I’ve had a Fisker Ocean reserved for over a year, and once the EV6 was revealed, I started leaning toward it instead. After all of the reviews I’ve been watching about it for months, including both of yours and especially from Inside EV News and Out of Spec Reviews, I’m pretty firmly ready to stay with Kia and go with the EV6, when it hits the U.S. in 2022!
It's a looker, that's for sure. And I agree with the looks of the Tesla's but then, the reason they look like that is to be more streamline, to have less drag, to get more range. Having driven a few of the new EV's, I have to say that the Tesla M3LR is the most engaging to drive, and downright crazy at times. All the other EV's are boring in comparison, the closest that came to that was the Jaguar I-pace 400. The Jag also had the best interior, but I could never justify the price tag, or the fact it's software is TERRIBLE. I also driven in the Ioniq 5 and EV6 and the interior for both of these wasn't great - it wasn't bad don't get me wrong, but the plastics inside felt wrong. The best way I can describe this, is think of Tesla as the iPhone back in 2008 compared with the nokia's and sony's of the day. Although I think Tesla as a company is FAR in excess of apple, they move SO fast when it comes to updates, both physical and virtual - some new iterations can come as fast as within 3 hours. No other car company currently comes close to this. Now this may not have much bearing on your choice right now, as it seems your mind is made up. But when it comes to the future, you will find your EV6 will have depreciated far more than a Tesla. And should that company go bankrupt... and honestly, it isn't out of the question for any legacy auto right now, then you'll not find much good about it for the future at all(i do feel kia/hyundai have about the best chance of surviving this onslaught, but who knows?). There is only one thing i'd change about the 3's and Y's, is adding a small hud like the jag and ev6 has. Other than that, they are borderline perfect.
I think a lot of people like the kind of cars that ICE allowed. I get that and like those cars as well. But i wonder if the compromises required taking a legacy design and adapting it to EV will work well. Teslas are designed ground up to work with batteries and they have invested a huge amount in technology and autonomy. That they have been able to do it all and deliver a compelling design at a good price after fuel savings is revolutionizing the industry. Until battery technology evolves, I wonder if many people will stick with ICE cars and the features they are used to rather than the new "Iphone". Hybrids are another possibility. I don't think the industry expected Tesla to produce in the 3/Y cars that are so compelling relative to current cars, but not everyone wants to go in a new direction and ICE/Hybrid may be the way for awhile for them.
@@Thorocious My ex traded in her model 3 after 18 months for a Porsche. "The electric car manufacturer now ranks 27th out of 28 car brands on Consumer Reports’ list, above only Ford-owned legacy luxury brand Lincoln" . Their cars are junk it's well documented. I know from experience.
Agree the EV6 is good looking and its higher voltage charging is a bonus . But the Tesla is cheaper, has longer range, better acceleration and substantially better tech - incl OTA updates which have enabled significant changes and upgrades. So imo it's not that even, but to each their own!
For most people ev6 is hands down due to budget. Let's be serious no one wants it. If u were to add all options of a Tesla standard, it would get to the same price range. But then question who in their right mind pay 55k + for a tier 2 maker like.kia. food for thought
I'm going for the EV6, compared to the Model Y and not the Model 3 that is. Placing my order next week. Just overall like the design more. The Tesla design is just too minimalist for me. Other than that the EV6 and Model Y are pretty much evenly matched performance wise. The model 3 lacks the practicality i need.
Also Hyundai recalled kona for some battery hazard issue. Same with GM. Don’t think ICE manufacturers still caught up with Tesla with tech. Although design and quality control is better.
@@guruh786 The Hyundai and Kia will be more reliable than the Tesla. Teslas are thwe most unreliable cars in the industry and they fall apart. The Kia won't fall apart like the Tesla.

i read comments in this video. and a lot of people have already said many additional things about EV6. I believe that EV6 is objectively much better than Tesla. And besides, it would be more correct to compare not Tesla model 3, but Tesla model Y. Model Y is already more expensive than EV6 + arguments in favor of Tesla that it has autopilot function, they forgot to mention that you need to pay 10K $ that it will be working by 100%. which significantly increases Tesla in value. Additional functions of EV6: HUD up display; full-fledged 220v socket inside the car; the rear row of seats folds into a full-fledged sofa, which allows you to use the car for camping; V2L system; salon imbilight; smart air conditioning system (the car itself closes the windows if it thinks that the outside air is dirty); Meridian speaker system 14 speakers + subwoofer; security system for closing windows (if something prevents the glass from closing); system of comfortable position of the front seats in the recumbent state; ventilation of the front seats (which Tesla Model 3 doesn't have) and maybe I forgot something else 🤔 I own EV6 for 2 months now, I can assure you this is a great car. At the moment, this is the best choice in accordance with price / quality / function 👍
Having tried all the competition and then some, this week I placed my order for a model 3. I love the simplicity and intuitive nature of its operation and lack of buttons.
Same here. I test drove the Ioniq 5 and EV6 and then test drove the model 3. As Most of the time there will only be two of us in the car, I’m happy to swap my SUV for a saloon. The model 3 sr+ test drive showed that the interior design and quality was better than Ioniq5/EV6, so was the performance, efficiency, tech and space (considering it was the smaller car!). Icing on the cake is the supercharger network and OTA. My model 3 is on order.
But the Tesla is the more desirable, better range, better software and platform, and better charging infrastructure. Both are great cars, the fact that Kia has truly closed the gap on the market leader speaks volumes.
@@TheTrueWelshIdiot Its software may seem responsive and fast, but the practicality is 💩. The fact that climate controls arent physical buttons and a two button click is just annoying. Had they just made the climate controls physical buttons, I wouldve considered getting one.
Problem is, both of them said they've driven a lot of Tesla 3s and like them. Neither mentioned build quality either or fit and finish. Maybe Tesla's are better at that now, at least fit and finish. Ginny says she had to fidget to find controls for the Kia but that may be more due to not being familiar with it vs. the Tesla than the Tesla's design being better. Some physical buttons are better than none, IMO.
You don’t look at the front of a car when you’re onside driving, but you’re right I’ve got a model 3, but there’s some serious competition out there now & I’m sure when I replace my 3 in 2 years it will be with a Korean or Chinese car, it’s the way the market is moving
@@peterblythe5219 I agree with Chris Harris... The Model 3 is still the best EV. Due to performance, range & network. But you do look at it on the driveway and for me it means I will wait until something better looking equals or beats it. Plus, I can't accept everything being in a tablet... Incl the rear temperature controls. I still want buttons & switches... and NOT touch sensitive crap... But real ones.
I agree the Kia is way better looking and the interior in the Kia is a thousand times better. There are things I like about teslas but I hate their interior design especially for he money, way too boring for me.

After driving both, the EV6 is the better of the two, feels more like a car rather than an iPad on wheels! Seriously though that one access centre screen on the Tesla is dangerous, a few more buttons and a heads up display or binnacle would make the Telsa a great car. I liked the Tesla, it has fantastic performance, great battery tech and range, but after driving both the EV6 was the better of the two for me. And for not a lot of compromise on battery efficiency and for everyday use performance either. It is more refined and built around the driver, it just does most thing better. You can tell its a car built by a car manufacture and not a tech company, plus 7 year warranty.

Great video. What I would love to see - perhaps in a separate video - is the often overseen voice command options for the Tesla’s. I use it every day, and it’s just a fast way to get things done, without the need of buttons….
Great video and your conclusions seem to be validated by other reviewers. I lease the model 3. It’s best feature is the efficiency and sporty drive. It’s great, but the paint scratches easily (thin), the guppy looks don’t inspire, lack of hatchback practicality and lack of cabin instruments frustrate. Operating simple controls on the move is difficult. Worst of all, the model 3 is everywhere now and I’ll be looking hard for a different car next time. The Koreans are doing an excellent job and I’ll definitely be test driving their alternatives when the time comes.
I opted for the EV6 but then I am not keen on the Tesla Model 3 style (too city car looking). The option for me was Ioniq 5 or EV 6 in the end the Ioniq 5 felt too sparse inside for a £45k car.
Tesla has done a lot to bring the EV industry from the future to the present which made the other manufactures get off their butts and do something. It's taken a while but they have now caught up with Tesla in my humble opinion. The Ev6 is the better looking car to me. Gizmos/gimmicks don't interest me. One big consideration for me is reliability, so I take into account scores like the JDpower PP100, unfortunately this is not good news for Tesla.
EV6 is a designed by a company that sells regular cars. So they designed the EV6 as a regular car, just powered by electrons. One thing I can’t stand about Tesla is everything going through the center screen which means the driver always takes their eyes off the road. NOT good.
*** Heat pump isn't fitted as standard, it's an optional and charged for extra. Good review of both cars as I've got an EV6 on order but considering a test drive of the Tesla.
Had a Model 3 for 5 months but bought the EV6 GT line RWD which I have had for 2 weeks. Model 3 was great on motorways but not so good on twisty bumpy roads where the front wheels jumped easily on potholes. I needed to tow a 1500Kg caravan so there is no contest …
Just don't be fooled by the ludacris 360 mile range claim. Tesla's are known to over promise and drastically undeliver in the range department while Kia's and Hyundai's have been pretty much spot on in their range estimates. If range is an issue for you just understand that Tesla's have been known to come up short by as much as 90 miles. For whatever reason the range estimates they use are tied to conditions that are not attainable in 99% of driving scenarios. Of course you should choose whatever car fits your needs but I feel it's truly unfortunate that Tesla's have been allowed to be sold using such crazy promises when they never deliver.
I really like the look of the Kia inside and out, but I ordered a Tesla. Hands down, it was a stunning drive and I admire Tesla’s continuous improvement philosophy.
How does that philosophy help you, Graeme? Software-wise, yes, I can see that, but the hardware you buy is still a snapshot in time, which isn't magically going to upgrade itself. We've already seen situations where "If your Tesla is older than X years, you won't be getting this feature because the computer can't handle it". But ... enjoy your car, mate. Every EV matters.
@@clasqm continuous improvement is three-fold: (1) Software updates to your car, like Apple does with iPhone/iPads etc. new features, improved efficiency… (2) Tesla offer a cost upgrade of computer hardware for old Tesla’s, too, and a free camera upgrade for FSD optioned older cars. (3) Vehicle hardware improvements at the factory level happen in real-time, not every 3-4 years like traditional car makers, e.g. Octovalve, new cell chemistry etc This influenced which make of car I ordered. The important issue is the more companies that make great EV’s, the better it is for all. Choice is good. Having a company like Tesla that leads the way, leads to better electric vehicles from the rest.
@@REV-EV You do realise that new factories can take a while to "Bed in" don't you? Oh, apparently you don't. And why should new factories produce better products wen the original factor(y/ies) haven't exactly been stellar? And new approaches have a tendency to blow up in your face, even when you have decades of experience. When your experience is limited to having the highest worker accident rates in the industry and the worst fit/finish performance in the sector, those "new approaches" don't convince very much. When you take into account Elon Musk's history of promises to workers, production deadlines and those much needed improvements to fit/finish and quality control, it is amazing that anybody could POSSIBLY believe that all these things are likely to result in significant improvements. When all the evidence points in one direction, but a comment ignores all the evidence to claim that an alternative is the more probable result, I tend to believe that a the poster is brainwashed b the poster is a fanboi. Neither is a good look.
I’ve tested both and I can say that the Tesla is more fun and the Kia more comfortable and spacious. The Kia is a bigger car, or at least feels like it. Tesla has the autopilot ace card, but when I tried it, it is just a more fancier cruise control, that only works under ideal situations. My biggest gripe with the tesla was trying to buy it. 3 times, I kid you not. In all situations, the deal was done with the bank, and then Elon Musk tweeted something during the night and the price would go up by a couple of a thousands, or the warranty would be slashed in half. No warning, no negotiation, not a care for the customer. I eventually fed up and decided to wait a bit longer. My shortlist is now the Kia EV6 and the Volvo XC40 recharge, which are similarly priced.
Don't underestimate the impact on both perceived and real headroom that the glass roof in the Tesla delivers. Even in the Model Y, which slopes very steeply in the back, there is plenty due to the glass.
@@andrewhayden2477 I wasn't thinking about the Tesla, honestly. To improve the EV6, a lighter headline or perhaps glass would help. The Tesla is a roomy, airy vehicle and very space efficient. At this point, a lot of EVs are going with glass roofs which helps headroom to various degrees.
Tesla looks like an office, not for me. I have spend enough time in offices. I bought the Kia ev6 air, 58 kw as a replacement for my Volvo V60 Cross Country. In the Netherlands that means at least a 200 Euro reduction in petrol and roadtax cost a month.
Having test-driven everything in the 77KwH battery arena we short-listed the EV6 (GT-Line S, which we’d ordered at a Kia unveiling event) & the M3LR. 2 hour test in the EV6 and we grinned, half-hour test in a M3LR and we laughed insanely, then another 2-hour test in the EV6 & we yawned. So we collect our M3LR on 14th Dec. It was a very close decision for us to be fair, as there are pros & cons to each. Neither is “better” in an absolute sense, but depending on YOUR personal use case, one might be more suitable than the other for YOU. But we did conclude that the EV6 & M3 are the best of the bunch currently ;)
@@rashnaaibara1781 I agree that the saloon spec can be a deal breaker. It wasn’t for me because most of the time they’ll only be me and the wife so plenty of space for us in the saloon model 3. Also my wife doesn’t like driving big cars.
The only thing I don’t like about the EV6 is that it is too big for what we need as a family. What I don’t like about the model 3 is that it is not a hatchback and that I cannot buy one in Malta.
This is a good review. What I notice is that, like any reviewer, they are giving you their honest thoughts on what they prefer. This may not align with what the viewer necessarily thinks, which is just fine. It's nice to get input from those who think differently than you do. Thanks again, Ladies.
It is interesting that Nicki and Ginny both would choose the Tesler and they have driven both cars, but nearly all the comments favor the EV6, Me too, I saw an EV6 while walking in my local town, I could not take my eyes off it. In fact, it has taken me to this point of seriously thinking about an electric car this year and along with the Jaguar iPace it's probably going to be one of these 2 cars. The look and design of the EV6 is really something and the reviews say it's a good all-round vehicle, but the ladies still choose the Tesler ?? I am still struggling to understand why the Tesler is the best selling car ? I love the big screen but not the look of a boring saloon.
A much larger "crossover" vs. a smallish sedan. EV6 is in the Model Y category, not Model 3. Sometimes cars are popular for a particular span of time then they're less popular. So, good for Tesla, for now. I'm not sure they have competition in their segment. I don't think the Polestar 2 is, it's an electrified hybrid platform so it is less efficient. I find it more premium. China, I think has a Model 3 competitor in the Xpeng P7. But that's not sold in much of the west. I like the EV6 interior and exterior but interior is more important to me. Just why piano black, Kia? Change that surface and it is an outstanding interior. I also would like it lighter. The Tesla, I'm fine with the clean exterior. I don't like the interior. I don't like the space feeling like a stark office module with a center floating tablet. Bottom line is, however good and efficient Tesla is, I'm not a tech head. I want a car that feels like it has some attention to design, detail and aesthetics. But more importantly, I want it to be well finished and well built. I just don't love Tesla's quality control. I don't find them to feel that solid over bumps and overall. That takes them off my interest list and I prefer almost anything over them. I will acknowledge they are quite good performing and their tech seems advanced for now.
Smallish sedan? It packs 70 liters more than the EV6. Works really good for a family of 4 as long as you don't need to haul furniture in the back. But thats why I choose one with a towbar.
The Tesla model 3 long range that we get in the UK does NOT have an 82kwh battery pack. It has the 75kwh battery pack. Only the performance model has the bigger pack. I know in other parts of Europe the long range gets it but we dont in the UK currently
Booooorrrrrriiiiinnnngggggg. I think the last thing said sums it up for me - if you don't want to follow the croud, have the Kia. Who wants to be a sheep? If both cars are soooooo close, it comes down to taste. And the Tesla is far to plain and boring for my liking. Kia every day for me 👍
I'm no Tesla fan. In fact I don't care for the brand more due to Musk and the fanboys than the cars. But they are fun to drive and perform well. I just don't like their build quality or quality control. I do agree that the design is boring, at least inside.
Since I don’t like Tesla exterior and interior design, and that I need a hatch for my dogs, easy win for the EV6, which for me was only fun to drive in sport mode. Anyway keeping my I-Pace which is still my love :)
Nice video, and thanks as most reviewers would as people have said pitch the EV6 against the model Y. So this was useful to me. I am giving back my Model 3 Performance to the lease company next week, as I'm moving job. I've had it 18 months and have loved it (mostly). The car developed a suspension arm ball joint squeak recently and it's so loud and intrusive - not what you expect from a car of this price range. Apparently it's a common fault on earlier cars (mine was March 2020). I had booked it into my nearest Tesla Service Centre (110 miles away) to be fixed - but a week later Tesla cancelled my booking as they are 'so busy'. On a previous visit to the Service Centre (MK) they kerbed an alloy, which I spotted (they didn't) and they agreed to replace. So all in all - Tesla service isn't their strong suit in my experience. The auto wipers are an annoyance - common winge. The lack of mini dash display behind the steering is also a small disappointment. The lack of actual buttons for common functions like heating controls is frustrating, although the voice commands work pretty well. The paintwork has suffered quite a few stone chips in just 14K miles, and the wheel arches behind the wheels suffer badly. The driving experience is superb though, great handling, reasonable ride, excellent speed and economy - I have managed 290 miles when keeping my max speed closer to 65 mph on the return leg. Winter though this pre-heat pump model might only do 200 real word. I'm weighing up the EV6 - I like the longer warranty, better and more widespread dealer network, better quality feel and more standard layout with a hatchback. It's probably bigger than I want though - already kerbed my alloys in a multi-story, don't need a wider car. Kia is a bit heavier and probably a bit less engaging to drive (haven't tried one yet). I like the design style and Kias reliability and efficiency record. I'm also considering the BMW i4, if it's affordable. The Tesla was my first EV - maybe I've been spoilt by it, but I'm definitely sold on the EV concept.
@@brownpartnership11 very true actually, I'm thinking I'll buy in future but happy to lease whilst the technology keeps moving a pace and battery prices keep falling (well, once the current crazy period calms down again).
@@brownpartnership11 in Portugal, leases are just another word for lending you money to buy it. The only option where you don’t have to bother with warranty is Renting (long term)
@@bidonga I've had several lease cars in the past, in the UK, lease cars are usually handed back at the end of their either 2 or 3 year term. I did the figures, being self employed I can get £10K of tax relief buying a M3 LR, that is probably more than the depreciation in a 2 year period, so buying worked out far cheaper than leasing for me. I'll most likely sell and get another EV after 2 years, I'm sure the choice will be far more difficult then 👍
Out of curiosity, what did you think about the model 3 minimalism? The very sparse dashboard and having to access almost everything from the screen rather than with a button?
After owning a Model 3 Performance for about 2 years I can honestly say the car is really overrated. The touchscreen alone is annoying, imagine trying to set your windshield wiper when its raining and youre on the highway and you have to take your eyes off the road bc every single control in on the ipad
Tesla’s are almost always sold on range and charger network but its gives a very false impression. It sounds good for sound bites on videos but in reality 84% of EV drivers have a home charger and very, very few do more that 150-200 miles in a single day. So when you factor in phantom loss (amount of charge lost while the car isn’t in use), a vast majority are charged every day at home, making those 2 selling points insignificant
Tesla's interiors are uninspiring and under featured. Where the EVs is giving you its 'relaxation seats', Head Up Display, VTL and ventilated seats, Tesla gives you fart mode. Kia's warranty is one of the industry's best. Tesla's is uninspiring. Having said that I love the way the Model 3 drives. It's pretty accomplished in most driving situations on our pothole system. Range, efficiency and charging? Tesla still has the edge.
"Range, efficiency and charging?" Only because they chose the most expensive version of the KIA, which is 4WD and has a reduced range in comparison with the 80KW 2WD. Yet the Tesla they chose was the LR? Oh, and KIA/Hyundai typically manage between 10% and 20% more than they are calculated to do. And how is charging a win for the Tesla? Jeez, I get tired of fanbois who can't even recognise basic facts.
@@davidcolin6519 totally agree. Best thing is to drive the EV6.. its incredible. I have experienced both RWD and AWD.. Quite frankly the AWD is ridiculously fast for UK roads. Its also a shame Kia did not offer 19 inch wheels to further improve efficiency on the GTL S
@@davidcolin6519 You seem to be fed up of 'fanbois' - which you ludicrously accuse me of being, because your own maths has scope for improvement. They pitched as near 'like for like' as they could - both cars were AWD. The Kia's charge time differential at its maximum DC input (and how often and for how long are EV batteries at the right level of depletion and temperature to accept that?) isn't big enough over the Tesla's to compensate for its lesser range. Tesla's efficiency is better - on paper and in all the driving tests I've seen. Tesla has the longer range. Who's the 'fan boi'?
@@davidcolin6519 I will add to your comment that fast charging is more important for those lacking at home charging as you can be fully charged at home every day and only need fast charging when travelling. For those cases, and I am one, the Tesla network is totally unimportant.
I think there was a clear intention to benefit Tesla (or harm Kia...?), as Kia offers a new design, full of personality, it is a car in the truest sense of the word, versus Tesla, which presents an outdated design with nothing appealing about it. But where the bias is clear is that they don't talk about the KIA's better construction quality and finishes in terms of the cabin, while the Tesla loses a lot of points there. They say that the plastics in the Kia's trunk are weak? What about Tesla's, at the level of the entire car? And as if that wasn't enough, Kia offers a much superior experience, from the moment of purchase to after-sales assistance, with Tesla being several points below in these areas. No less important, for those who prioritize their privacy, the Tesla's internal cameras with image communication to the brand's servers about everything that happens in the car, completely remove it. Aren't these important points to mention? I think some people think that having a Tesla is like having an iPhone with wheels, and since the iPhone is the fashion phenomenon that it is, the Tesla benefits from that effect. Speaking of integration, why didn't they say that Tesla doesn't allow Apple Car Play or Android Auto, and Kia does? A good and honest review should have taken all these factors into account, and not been so obvious where they wanted the result to lean in the end. Ultimately, anyone who is in the market to buy an electric car in this segment should try out both cars first, and even other options, weigh up all the arguments, and only then decide. Tesla has its value, it was a pioneer in several aspects, but car manufacturers, established decades ago, are already surpassing them in several aspects, and that would always be inevitable. Everything that is fashionable today will eventually cease to be so.
I do not agree. Kia has a better driver and passenger environment. There is always the risk of being colored by habit when we have to make decisions. I had broken that habit and not chosen Tesla. Kia is my choice.
It would be nice if they tried to hide their blatant bias at least a little. The EV6 looks, is built, handles, and has a better warranty, and isn't as expensive when comparably equipped. Kia EVs are known to routinely exceed their official range ratings where Teslas struggle to meet, and often falls far short of theirs. Also, the lack of buttons/knobs for basic functions is enough to turn many away from Tesla.
Man I swear I was all about Tesla but the EV6 is just stunning. The design really does stand out and looks sporty and sleek! Birds Eye view camera is also another +1 as well as Apple CarPlay because omg is that thing SO USEFUL! Literally if the Tesla had CarPlay, newer design, Birds Eye view, and ambient lighting, I think I wouldn’t even be making a little debate about this
Fact check: Top of the range KIA v entry level model 3. If like for like it would be: Kia EV6 £40,945 Model 3 £42,990 The Kia is 2k cheaper. Also the Model 3 can charge up to 250kwh (not 210kwh) Vs Kia at 350kwh.
Not sure where you are getting your pricing from. Entry level Model 3 is RWD @ £42K. That’s the one I bought. It now has a range of 305 miles and 0-60 at 5.8 secs. The EV6 is more hatchback than SUV so competes with the model 3. I’ve test driven both and the Tesla is way ahead. Finally, Tesla’s comprehensive OTA updates means great resale value.
Great review and it seems both are great cars and either would make a great choice. Tesla's brave approach to interior design is incredible but I have never liked the exterior styling. Between these two, I would take the Kia all day long as it looks fantastic and is good enough in pretty much every area. Given a choice of any competitor, I would be heading for the Hyundai showroom and ordering an Ionic 5 though. Those pixel lights and retro, Tron inspired styling do it for me.
I went for the Tesla on the basis it is tried and tested, has great tech, is efficient and will probably hold its money better being a well established EV brand 🤷♂️
I also fell in love with the Ioniq5 design, until I saw it in the metal. Not so impressive in real life. I would advise to test drive both the Kia and Ioniq5. They may share components and the platform, but are very different cars both in exterior and interior. The Kia became my favourite after trying it.
@@bidonga I took the Ioniq 5 for a spin after the M3 LR, Tesla won by a mile in every way, the whole experience was far better. Never took the EV6 out, as it wasn't available at the time, but still happy with my choice due to potential residuals 👍🤞
@@brownpartnership11 I love the Tesla too, and I wanted it 2 years back, when it was the only real proposition available. When buying it, I ran into many troubles, with Tesla changing things without notice on a week basis, rising prices and changing agreements. I decided to stop and wait it out. I still believe it has the best performance and future technology, but in the end, it’s not what I’m looking for in a car. I’m looking for space, design, and a touch of familiarity. I don’t think the Tesla is a good fit for me right now. I’ve had the good fortune to have really fast and sporty cars in the past, so those boxes have already been ticked off in my bucket list. I hope you have a lot of fun in yours 👍
I have a Honda CRV 2004 and it's crap. 19mpg Petrol, fails MOT's every year, costs me £300 a month on petrol. I have £3000 deposit saved up, and can pay up to £400 a month. I love the height of SUVs. Any help choosing my next car would be greatly appreciated.
The Kia is a proper car. The Tesla is a shell with an ipad. Actually embarrassing how much car you don't get with a Tesla. Having driven Mercs, Audi's, getting in a Tesla was like getting in a car after it has been stripped down. The Kia EV6 for me.
I drove both and would decide on the Tesla...not because it is the more comfortable one or more versatile. I am considering buying it...and in 6-8 years I believe that the Kia design might be outdated, while Tesla might still have its fanbase and a design that might then still be taken positively. Personally, I feel the Kia is a great car but also the delivery times are somewhere between 9 to 12 months...also something to consider.
Not much of a surprise that Electrifying would choose the Tesla, they seem to be enamored with the vehicle for some reason, while my admittedly subjective opinion is that most of them resemble a bloated catfish (all but the Roadster which is beautiful). I feel that I need to speak up about how poorly Tesla's mileage claims have actually worked out to be in reality. While Kia has been very much spot on with their EV range promises, even topping estimates, throughout their model lines, Tesla has a horrendous history of over promising and drastically undelivering when it comes to range. At some point EV reviewers NEED TO STOP spouting the party line by simply quoting what Tesla or government range standards promise and actually do their own real world range testing because systems like WLTP and the US EPA EV testing certifications are horrendously specific in the conditions that must be met in order to achieve the numbers that are quoted. Why these systems allow for such specific conditions to be used in order to paint the producer in the best light is beyond me. Perhaps at one point in time it was done in order to encourage consumers to make the switch but now that we are invested in the tech we need real information in order to make informed choices on where to spend our hard-earned money as an EV is not a cheap purchase. This is not a well-kept secret as Teslas have been shown to provide up to 90 miles less range than promised when using the rather generous WLTP measuring system. These numbers are simply not attainable in 99% of driving scenarios. If anyone can show me examples of these range estimates being obtained in real world use please, PLEASE provide links to posted UA-cam videos of Model 3s reaching 360 miles because I need to learn their tricks for hypermiling. For those who would like honest information about EV range I suggest watching the Out of Spec Reviews channel which does do extensive battery and range testing as it would be a far better resource for people investigating whether to purchase a Tesla or not. He is a car enthusiast, both electric and internal combustion, and is a long time Tesla owner. I believe his current Model 3 has over 100,000 miles on it so he would be a good resource for people wondering about Tesla reliability (Spoiler Alert: He thinks they are wonderfully reliable). Even though it is based out of the USA the information, level of technical know how, the in depth testing (which can honestly be somewhat boring if you are not an EV nerd) and the honest approach to any vehicle they review is a breath of fresh air. Yes I rather like the Kia EV6 and it's sister car the Hyundai Ioniq but I also find the Lucid Air to be a thing of beauty, along with several others. I am rather enjoying the prospect of being a car enthusiast again. For a bit I was worried that my love of the automobile would be lessened once the roaring sound of an engine was taken away. I am happy to find that this is not yet completely true.
@@bidonga Of course and I wasn't suggesting the Lucid Air as a suitable choice between the two vehicles shown as it is squarely placed itself in the luxury vehicle class. If you read my comment I was simply stating what vehicles I like in the EV space right now. It was an attempt to preempt any commenter who might believe that I am biased toward any particular EV maker or overzealous Tesla fan who might believe that I am a Tesla hater. In the past comments I have made regarding my frustration with their mileage claims have earned me more than a few angry responses from lovers of the brand so I may be a bit defensive as a result. I don't hate Tesla's at all, in fact I have always loved both the Roadster and the Model S while I've always disliked the catfish like looks of the 3 and Y. My largest issue lie with the absurd mileage claims and the unwillingness of the auto press to call the company out on them. It does a disservice to consumers like us particularly those who are new to EV's and are using reviewers like these to help guide their purchasing decisions. I apologize if I didn't make it more clear that my list was not a list of suggestions. There are many wonderful choices that have come to market and more on the way. I also forgot to mention the Mustang Mach E and VW ID4. The id4 is such a wonderful choice as far as value while admittedly not a sports car.
@@genesishep No worries. Just having a nice chat. As for range claims, I agree with you. I recently had the opportunity to drive the Volvo XC40 Recharge for a full day. Great Car. Great price. But... you'll only get the 400km of range they promise if you are driving in the city, at 30 km/h. Doing a normal day of mixed roads will only get you a real world range of 250km. I do believe Kia, Hyundai and Tesla are capable doing a bit better, because they are better suited (ground up EV's), more aerodynamic and overall more efficient. But I suspect it won't be very ahead. Now for the disagreeing part: VW ID4 is a missed opportunity. As design goes, I don't like it, but that's personal of course. But the Interior is so poor... It looks like a budget Car that costs twice as it should be. And the software glitches I'm seeing in the reviews... Very bad. They should have delayed that until they had it figured it out.
@@fernandorebelo4165 I don't think the ID4 is all that buggy by comparison. People tend to gloss over the numerous bugs that have been plaguing Tesla's over the entire span of their vehicle releases. When you think of the safety issues present in their FSD code alone to issues like the vehicles locking owners out of their vehicles due to computer server problems at Tesla (a problem that in my mind questions who actually owns a vehicle when a manufacturer glitch can remove access to a vehicle you've already paid for) then the bugs in the ID4 are miniscule by comparison yet the company's status as the flagship EV manufacturer affords it such unfair leniency. Something that should not be happening by reviewers. Especially when taking into consideration that I'm not speaking about bugs that were found ages ago and resolved these issues I'm speaking about were found in the month of November alone. Unfortunately the opinions of reviewers are subjective and 99% of their observations are so personally tainted that they aren't much help to consumers. The reality is nothing will be as helpful as personal experience with an automobile and short test drives will rarely reveal enough information for you to make an informed decision. I would still argue the ID4 is an exceptional value by comparison, bugs and all. Regarding range, several vehicle manufacturers are much more honest or even understated in their estimates. Kia, Hyundai and Ford tend to be right on the mark and Porches tends to under promise, over deliver while Tesla dramatically over promises and under delivers. With that bit of information in our hands consumers have a bit more knowledge when making a purchase decision however reviewers really need to stop pretending that the mileage promises Tesla makes are even close to being accurate.
I still have a little hate for the sedan classification for Model 3. I like hatchbacks. Probably my choice will favor the Model Y. But then the range will not be the same....
As a Tesla fan & technical nerd, I watch every possible Tesla YT channel, including Sandy’s teardowns. I know that nobody in the whole auto industry has the tech as good as Tesla. I agree with you ladies that Tesla is a better product. But to Kia’s credit, I love the exterior design. P.S. I like that these days more women are entering traditionally male dominated areas. Thanks ladies for this amazing review!
Shame about the charging network - it means Tesla wins hands down for me! Also Tesla won't fully open up their charging network until the competition are at the same level (coverage) otherwise they will lose a big advantage, so why would they do that?? Currently it's the only car that you can set off in and drive to most places in the UK and Europe without thinking about charging... And why do you need so many levels of regeneration. Haven't you got something better to do when driving?? In the Tesla you just use your foot to change regen level, if required. So for me it's the Tesla model 3 and that's why I've got one...
That was an amazing review. As a Canadian auto broker, I was trying to decide which one to go with for my daily as I spend $500 a month on gas. Thank you! PS Having driven both, I think the EV6 was more fun to drive but I will probably go with the Tesla.
I’m still driving a IPace First Edition, and I’ll admit to having exactly that EV6 (red GT-Line) on order, but I’ve never belonged in the Tesla fan club (two of my brothers drive them, so I have driven and been driven in 3s ). Lazy design (scaled down S on a photocopier which makes the proportions odd), interior you either love or hate, it’s extremely noisy on the road (you can’t hear it if anyone in the front is taking to you in the back) and the build quality is as bad as only americans can make it. But, they are good at Software, battery control and efficiency, just not at making a desireable car.
They never mentioned build quality. That's where Tesla is no match for the competition. At this point, Hyundai and Kia make solid cars. And Polestar is on another planet. Porsche another universe. They feel way more solid and "grown up" as cars than do Teslas.

So undesirable that they were the best selling car in the UK during September?! The built quality has improved massively, but after all, they are the best part of £20K cheaper than the equivalent iPace. You pays your money, you makes your choice I guess.
The EV6 is incomparably better looking than the frumpy, toad-faced Model 3, has far better build quality and much more sophisticated battery and recharging technology AND is much cheaper than the rip-off from California. The only advantage the Model 3 has is more storage space, and that is almost insignificant in the overall scheme of things.
I’ve had an EV6 this weekend for evaluation. This is the first electric car I’ve driven, but absolutely loved it. Many of the (minor) criticisms I’ve read before are exactly that - minor. The performance, styling, handling, space, the boot (once the floor shelf is removed)… all good. My chief criticism is the heater. It was sub-5 degrees for much of the weekend and try as I might, I could not get the car to warm up inside. Set to fully auto (in the ’Normal’ driving mode), at 27C, my hands were like ice blocks. Can’t compare it to the Tesla (apart from looks, which the EV6 wins hands-down IMO), but very happy with my experience of this car. If only it was in reach, price-wise!
I noticed that Tesla vehicles are right at the bottom of the recently released US Consumer Reports on reliability... And at the top of customer satisfaction. This is pretty much proof positive that Tesla owners are best described as fanbois or, in other words, members of a cult. Way to go USA. I mean, you clearly don't have enough cults, huh? To be fair, the only Tesla model that WASN'T ranked "below average" was the model 3, which ranked "average". OTOH, the KIA e-Niro ranked 2nd of ALL the cars on sale in the USA. Obviously, the EV6 wasn't included because it wasn't on sale during the time of the report. It'll be interesting to see how it fairs in next year's report, but KIA really do have a very good reputation for reliability, and with EVs being inherently more reliable (unless it's a Tesla, apparently), there is every reason to think that the EV should continue that trend.
I'm 6' 2" and hit my head getting in and out of the model 3. I also hit my head putting groceries in the trunk. The ride is a bit less rough on the roadway, better than my son's Chevy Bolt. Today we will check out Kia and make our own assessment. The good fact is we can sell our Model 3 today for what we paid for 8 months ago.
Any EV over £25 K is outside my pay-out range, so I'm waiting till 2022 and maybe 2023 if I pass my medical examination with flying colours. Then and only then will I decide either to keep my Fiesta or fork out for a less expensive Dacia Spring, which according to reviews I 've seen is all I'd need.
Surely a more appropriate comparison would be between EV6 vs Model Y. Both are hatchbacks and the Model Y is about £10k more expensive like-for-like against the EV6.
@@ssdma02 Yes, they did. And managed to ignore the Y's terrible ride and 10k price difference. Not convinced that the channel is even interested in making fair comparisons, it seems to me that they're just another Tesla fan page.
I should have demoed the Polestar, love the looks, but the efficiency isn't quite there! What made you opt for the M3 LR? Mine is due 29th of this month, can't wait 😍
The problem is that the KIA while beeing the way more attractive car is vastly inefficient ! Even with the standard 19 inch wheels it has terrible consumption at even low speeds . I am very dissapoited !
Those buttons in front of the on/off button are perfectly placed for where my fingers rest when adjusting the aircon. Far too easy to turn on the heated seats by accident.
There's no denying Tesla has been bouncing between bankruptcy and life support for years now, probably surviving only on billionaire Musk's injections of cash, and that would explain the car's sketchy engineering and quality. I just don't have the faith in their vehicles that I'd need to buy one. Kia, on the other hand, has shown brilliant design, engineering, build quality, reliability, and technology in recent years, and the EV6 stands head and shoulders over the Tesla's dull and bland styling. If I were in the market today, it would definitely be for the EV6.
If you have the possibility I'd definitely recommend getting it 😉
@@stijnhs I’m curious about charging. I live in Canada and superchargers are becoming more ubiquitous. How does that work for the EV6?

Here are some findings:
1. EV6 is bigger, mainly wider. It makes it a bit more challenging to navigate the smaller UK roads, parking, and width restrictions
2 EV6 ride, comfort, and noise levels are better. Rear leg comfort much better. Fit and finish is near perfect.
3. EV6 is easier to switch to for those coming from ICE cars with traditional design dashboards/instruments
4. M3 is technically more advanced, more driving assist potential, and over the air updates, but Kia may catch up with Nvidia drive
5. M3 Long range may have slightly more range, but not much in it. The EV6 will of course rapid charge over 200KW/h where supported
6. M3 feels brighter and less claustrophobic compared to the all black interior of the UK spec GTLine/S ..(come on Kia UK.. get us a lighter interior or at least a light roof lining)
7. the 7 year warranty of the EV6 wins hands down, along with the huge and brilliantly helpful Kia dealership
This is very helpful. As it supports my decision on preordering ev6
@@Xewo7777 good point about the drive train warranty, however it's the other minor faults that may not be covered on the Tesla after 4 years.

Model Y is already more expensive than EV6 + arguments in favor of Tesla that it has autopilot function, they forgot to mention that you need to pay 10K $ that it will be working by 100%. which significantly increases Tesla in value. Additional functions of EV6: HUD up display; full-fledged 220v socket inside the car; the rear row of seats folds into a full-fledged sofa, which allows you to use the car for camping; V2L system; salon imbilight; smart air conditioning system (the car itself closes the windows if it thinks that the outside air is dirty); Meridian speaker system 14 speakers + subwoofer; security system for closing windows (if something prevents the glass from closing); system of comfortable position of the front seats in the recumbent state; ventilation of the front seats (which Tesla Model 3 doesn't have) and maybe I forgot something else 🤔
I own EV6 for 2 months now, I can assure you this is a great car. At the moment, this is the best choice in accordance with price / quality / function 👍
Having tried all the competition and then some, this week I placed my order for a model 3. I love the simplicity and intuitive nature of its operation and lack of buttons.
Same here mate
However TESLA model 3 it’s only a saloon that’s looks dated already not fashionable SUV
@@irekfilms which is fine if you’re happy with a saloon and don’t care about being fashionable.😊
The EV6 wins hands down, to the design, practicality, build quality and price.
Model 3 is a sedan, EV6 is a crossover and actually should be compared to Model Y.
Great review, BUT unfortunately, for me, the Interior of the Tesla lets it down badly. That's why I'll go for the Kia.
I would far prefer to get an EV6 than a car that looks like a Duck! I would only consider a Tesla if they re-designed the ugly front.
Yup totally agree on the Teslas front not at all aesthetically pleasing
I agree the Kia is way better looking and the interior in the Kia is a thousand times better. There are things I like about teslas but I hate their interior design especially for he money, way too boring for me.
@@L0n3W0lfBl4ck Totally agree with you. Tesla the Company is so miles ahead of the competition. Their new 2022 batteries & chassis. Cost & weight saving. Efficiency of building cars... Miles ahead. Shame what they actually build is so dam ugly....
The EV6 for me. Better value, comfort and fast charging.
The EV6 is almost as attractive as Ginny 🙂 definitely my next EV
EV6 all the way for me.
I am under the impression that the EV6 is better compared to the Tesla Model Y Cross over rather than the Model 3. Am I mistaken ?
Ya but the price point comparison will be off
@@joeisawesome540 Agreed. Tesla Model Y is still only available as a top spec performance model and costs about 10K more. They were comparing models in the same price point.
Doesn’t this mean an unfair comparison then. A matched spec ev6 to matched spec y makes sense. With the Kia being substantially cheaper?
@@bidonga Modal Y is available as long range model and it's £5k more, a better comparison would be with Model Y
@@DemetrioFilocamo in Portugal, both Model Y and Kia EV6 have long range models, but the model Y is available only in the Performance package. That means 65K € while the Kia is 53K €. You can of course compare them, but the Kia is way cheaper.
If you buy a Tesla you going to love it. If you buy an eV6 you will love it, as few people will have the occasion to drive both cars for an extended length of time.
EV 6 First Edition coming to me, hopefully in January-my choice in this competition 😊
Do tell how do you like?
@@911awakening Really a great car! Very fun to drive, great looks and comfort!! It's better than the Tesla (I had One!)
@@goose2050 1000000% agree I have both Tesla and EV6. I thought no one can win TESLA’s work, But KIA ? I never thought haha. I really satisfy in interior, comport, i driving, design, charging speed, and ambient light !! Really good car
Kia wins it for me cool looking car
I opted for the EV6 but then I am not keen on the Tesla Model 3 style (too city car looking). The option for me was Ioniq 5 or EV 6 in the end the Ioniq 5 felt too sparse inside for a £45k car.
Kia all the way for styling and interior.
I do hope they make a small kia EV with similar flair to compare with 208 and Corsa.
EV4 and Gen 2 e-Niro should be coming according stuff on the web...I am keeping an eye on the Kia e-niro UK interest group on FB.
NOT good.
Just because of the hatchback, Kia wins it for me. I can't imagine using a saloon on a daily basis.
That's where the Model Y comes in; it's basically a hatchback Model 3.
@@sur_face Yeah but the price... :(

*** Heat pump isn't fitted as standard, it's an optional and charged for extra. Good review of both cars as I've got an EV6 on order but considering a test drive of the Tesla.
Make sure you test drive a model 3 long range. Had ours 2 weeks, it’s incredible! Charging over night in the cheap rate we get 120 miles for £1.50! 😍
I test drove the EV6 first then a Tesla model 3. I bought the Tesla!
Actually thought the heat pump is only available for the GT Version coming out next year. Well atleast it says that on my brochure
I would prefer the EV6, ordered a GT line s last may, delivery now put back to June 22!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Tesla has max charge speed of 250kW, I've seen it many times, however it never lasts long.
Battery needs to be preconditioned, speed drops then over time to preserve the battery
I really like the look of the Kia inside and out, but I ordered a Tesla. Hands down, it was a stunning drive and I admire Tesla’s continuous improvement philosophy.
They've got a lot to improve, at least where fit, finish and NVH are concerned.
@@davidcolin6519 two new supersized factories opening shortly, new approaches to build and a continuous improvement program - its covered.
@@clasqm continuous improvement is three-fold:
(1) Software updates to your car, like Apple does with iPhone/iPads etc. new features, improved efficiency…
(2) Tesla offer a cost upgrade of computer hardware for old Tesla’s, too, and a free camera upgrade for FSD optioned older cars.
(3) Vehicle hardware improvements at the factory level happen in real-time, not every 3-4 years like traditional car makers, e.g. Octovalve, new cell chemistry etc
This influenced which make of car I ordered.
When all the evidence points in one direction, but a comment ignores all the evidence to claim that an alternative is the more probable result, I tend to believe that
a the poster is brainwashed
b the poster is a fanboi.
Ouch, leave the XC40 there, it may be a great car, but efficiency is dire, not helped by being constructed on an ICE platform!
EV6 is different and more like a car. As far as I am aware Kia is more reliable than Tesla. I choose EV6
Great review of both vehicles. I love my model 3, but the EV6 is a good looking car and would love to test drive one whenever it comes out in the US.
The EV6 would seem less claustrophobic with a light colored headliner. Dark headliners make vehicles seem less airy.
Or even just a glass roof!
Had exactly the same experience except with a Model 3 RWD which now has a 305 mile range @ £42k
Wow. Congrats. Tesla is a no brainer
Reserve judgement on if one’s better until you have owned the Tesla for an hour. Enjoy.
Totally agree with this though I went with Kia rather M3 as I didn’t want a saloon car boot. hopefully I will not yawn while driving.
@@rashnaaibara1781 I agree that the saloon spec can be a deal breaker. It wasn’t for me because most of the time they’ll only be me and the wife so plenty of space for us in the saloon model 3. Also my wife doesn’t like driving big cars.
Pick my EV6 in 4 weeks, can’t wait 👍
The only thing I don’t like about the EV6 is that it is too big for what we need as a family. What I don’t like about the model 3 is that it is not a hatchback and that I cannot buy one in Malta.
Totally agree.. Lets hope we get the EV4 soon both UK and Malta.... or even the new e-Niro gen 2.
EV6 wins this, for me, but I’d be happy with the RWD max range version - which of course would be £5k cheaper too!
I know in other parts of Europe the long range gets it but we dont in the UK currently
because of brexit or why? xD
@@benjaminsmith2287 agreed. I think they're quite nice looking from the outside. It's just the inside I really really don't like. Far too minimal 👍
Since I don’t like Tesla exterior and interior design, and that I need a hatch for my dogs, easy win for the EV6, which for me was only fun to drive in sport mode. Anyway keeping my I-Pace which is still my love :)
Nice review thanks. My EV6 is on order. …..
I suppose the warranty of the EV6 is only important if you are buying the car, not an issue if leasing 🤷♂️
I'd take the kia if the charging infrastructure here in Canada was good for it.
After owning a Model 3 Performance for about 2 years I can honestly say the car is really overrated. The touchscreen alone is annoying, imagine trying to set your windshield wiper when its raining and youre on the highway and you have to take your eyes off the road bc every single control in on the ipad
Automatic wipers!? Lmfao
@@davidcolin6519 I'm tired of fanboys too. But Bryan definitely doesn't come across as one.
Literally if the Tesla had CarPlay, newer design, Birds Eye view, and ambient lighting, I think I wouldn’t even be making a little debate about this
+1 for the Model 3
Fact check:
Top of the range KIA v entry level model 3.
If like for like it would be:
Kia EV6 £40,945
Model 3 £42,990
The Kia is 2k cheaper.
Also the Model 3 can charge up to 250kwh (not 210kwh)
Vs
Kia at 350kwh.
Great comparison - Tesla just always wins. And the fact that it is cheaper.... And probably holds its value better
on this channel, yes. On other channels, not necessarily.
I’d choose the Kia. Better warranty and more Kia dealerships for service and better looking and sits up higher and more trunk space.
BUT KIA... It is more quality..it lasts
Lucid air is great but it’s more than double the price of any of the cars on this video.
How does the range of the two compare in winter conditions? i.e. 0 degrees celsius? Is there any details available on this?
Standard range model 3 would be more comparable with range and performance. Saving 9 grand
And has a better LFP battery too!
Are you kidding me? Hideous model3 no thanks. That KIA looks really good. But for me Ioniq5!!!
"Heat pump fitted as standard" -- that's NOT true. it's £900 (UK spec).
That was an amazing review. As a Canadian auto broker, I was trying to decide which one to go with for my daily as I spend $500 a month on gas. Thank you! PS Having driven both, I think the EV6 was more fun to drive but I will probably go with the Tesla.
The best is the Kia EV6 GT-Line !
How do you find the IPace's climate control and infotainment system?
They never mentioned build quality. That's where Tesla is no match for the competition. At this point, Hyundai and Kia make solid cars. And Polestar is on another planet. Porsche another universe. They feel way more solid and "grown up" as cars than do Teslas.
@@bryandavies6074 On my First Ed the infotainment is very slow. Everything works fine, and sound etc is good, ut’s just slow. The new Pivi Pro is much better. Heating and cooling is very good (I live in Norway). Heated and cooled seats, heated windscreen, heated steering wheel (don’t knock it till you’ve tried on a could morning…), heated rear seats; all good.
Best feature though: the driving experience! Magic car on the road 🥰
@@jarleygarden3671 I've not had the privilege of driving one, but I've been driven in one. About 30km, summer, England mixture of lanes, fast twin carriageway and a little urban. Ride handling & cabin very Jaguar abd impressive. Thanks for sharing.
I want the EV6 but the insane markups at the dealership is pushing towards a model 3. I hate dealing with dealerships in the US.
There was a recall for the heater. Assuming that would fix that issue.
Hold on I went to the kia garage yoday and they got 327miles on the side of the ev6 so why do you only get 290miles when it's 100% charged??
I'm 6' 2" and hit my head getting in and out of the model 3. I also hit my head putting groceries in the trunk. The ride is a bit less rough on the roadway, better than my son's Chevy Bolt. Today we will check out Kia and make our own assessment. The good fact is we can sell our Model 3 today for what we paid for 8 months ago.
Disappointed to hear your comments on the EV6 heater. I currently drive a Kia Soul EV with a heat pump and it warms up fairly quickly.
Supercharger network has always been Tesla's USP...if they open that up to the competition then it's the EV6...no brainer
I've always really liked the Model 3, but - damn! - the EV6 generates LUST.
Remember when we didn’t have many choices for EVs? ^^ times are changing very fast
Tesla and VW are planning on building EVs for under 25K
The Tesla hatchback is rumoured to cost from around £20K
I would take the EV6 GT if it were at the price of the long range then it would be a hit but at current prices I'll stick to the Polestar 2
Surely a more appropriate comparison would be between EV6 vs Model Y. Both are hatchbacks and the Model Y is about £10k more expensive like-for-like against the EV6.
I think they did that a few weeks ago.
@@ssdma02 Thanks…
@@ssdma02 Yes, they did. And managed to ignore the Y's terrible ride and 10k price difference.
Not convinced that the channel is even interested in making fair comparisons, it seems to me that they're just another Tesla fan page.
@@davidcolin6519 totally agree.
The point that we are actually comparing the EV6 with the model 3, is just a glorious win for KIA.
Specifically for me, the ev6 hands down.
Yesterday we placed an order for a Tesla 3 LR dual motor after demoing Polestar2 & Ioniq5
I should have demoed the Polestar, love the looks, but the efficiency isn't quite there!
What made you opt for the M3 LR? Mine is due 29th of this month, can't wait 😍
Nice review. I've planning to buy the Kia EV6. The is already looks dated.
The problem is that the KIA while beeing the way more attractive car is vastly inefficient !
Even with the standard 19 inch wheels it has terrible consumption at even low speeds .
I am very dissapoited !
Hard choice. Would have to test drive both cars to decide which one I prefer.
Those buttons in front of the on/off button are perfectly placed for where my fingers rest when adjusting the aircon. Far too easy to turn on the heated seats by accident.
Model3 2nd row seat is too low to support thighs. Not good for long journey.
I have a model 3 LR and it is by some distance the best car I have ever owned, and I cannot honestly see myself ever moving away from Tesla.
Nice job ladies. To the point and very easy to follow. Well analyzed and explained.
