she isn't a bad driver. But being "not bad" is not enough to get a test driver spot at an F1 team. It is obvious that they are just using her for good pr, because of her gender. Could you do one on either Katherine Legge, or Christina Nielsen? As of now I would say they are the best female drivers in the world alongside Jamie Chadwick.
My theory on female racing drivers - the less attractive ones are faster. None of those three (or the greatest ever, Michèle Mouton) are particularly pretty. They got to where they are through actual talent rather than being a good-looking woman who can get sponsorship money.
@@pitstopf1jan I'm sexist because I think women should be judged on ability and not how good they look in a bikini? Boy, the definition of "sexism" sure has changed in recent times. And now in 2022.... partial IndyCar seat with A.J. Foyt. 12 races, street and road, no ovals. Team-mates are Dalton Kellett, who finished 23rd in the championship in his first full season last year, and Kyle Kirkwood, who won the Indy Lights championship in 2021 in dominating fashion, but hasn't raced in IndyCar yet. Calderon's unlikely to do anything of note compared with Kirkwood, but it will be fascinating to see if she can do better than Kellett.
I think the loss of Hubert definitely affected her and the team more than people realise. The switch to endurance seems to be suiting her better and think that's where she will end up excelling more She's not a bad driver but the was definitely a lot of pressure and focus with some tragedy which impacted her career. She still has a role to play at Alfa Romeo but don't think will break through but it will help her career where she is now
She has ASSets... as a driver she is just a field filler BUT she is good to look at so she will maintain a ride. I do hope she gets better as a racer though so she isn't just a poster.
I had Tatiana as my teammate on F1 my team, with our team being the first all female lineup in F1. She routinely beat Williams and Haas despite our car being the worst on the grid. But she wanted too much money to renew the contract and got replaced mid season with Mick Schumacher who got a points finish ahead of me in his first race. I'm currently 6th or 7th in the championship standings Tatiana sadly never got a points finish, the closest being at Monaco where she was nipping at the heels of me in 10th before she got her wing wiped out by a reckless overtake attempt from a Haas I think and the ensuing pit stop sent her down the grid
0:46 Lella Lombardi wasn't the last woman in F1. In 1992 a woman named Giovanna Amati competed 3 races for Brabham, but she never qualified and was replaced by Damon Hill.
Yeah, she's not a truly bad driver. She's just intensely mediocre. A few above average results can't change that. She's also 27, soon to be 28, and she really should've shown something more by this stage. It's not like she's 18 and still has years of developing and maturing ahead of her.
To me, she kind of fits in the Christina Nielsen, Katherine Legge area of decently high level pro driver, just not quite f1 worthy yet. To me, those three are the top female drivers in the world right now, with maybe Jaime Chadwick and Simona Deselvestro from a few years ago. Simona is really the last one I thought might make it.
I remember her racing in Star Mazda years ago, an I honestly thought that she had some talent. I didn't know that she switched to racing in Europe because of what happened to Wheldon. Personally, I wish she would have stayed on the Road to Indy. She probably doesn't belong in Indycar, but I think she would have had a smoother time developing her skills as a racer.
Whenever I hear her name all I can think about is her being mahaveer’s back row buddy. But in all seriousness she’s an alright driver, definitely not f1 worthy but could do well in enduro, or even Indy maybe
@@Linter7 she survived that massive Macau GP wreck in which her car literally got launched over the barrier and into a building with her head going first. Look it up. Bad drivers crash regularly. She's just an average driver coming from a family with lots of money. People are critical of her simply because she's a woman and they think that's what is supplying her opportunities, which isn't true. SHE'S RICH!!!
@@LynnVal Yeah that's what I was thinking when he said, even if she isn't worthy of a F1 spot, only a handful of people in the world are, really. Mazepin is bad, but he got the money. I can picture her driving decent enough to finish races in 19th place at least, ahead of him.
I'm not entirely familiar with her racing career (this video helped, thank you), but I can't help but wonder if a lot of it is pressure from being the only woman on the grid in most of those situations, and often in cars not designed for anyone below - say, 5'6". It's said in the video that she struggles to fit in cars properly because of her short stature, and that cannot help at all. And I'm not sure how Sauber would work with it, given the height difference between Tatiana and, say, Kubica. It's clear she can compete at a mid-field level at least, but her career seems very disjointed and without any real progression - jumping around between car types and never settling, so never really getting to improve. I would like to see her in the W Series, though, I think that would be a much better measure of her skill.
This video was actually kind to her not comparing her points to her teammates points. She got absolutely destroyed by Russell, Dennis, Aitken and Beckmann and so on. Like hundreds of points behind them.
I'm a 27 year old female and have been watching F1 for 23 years. It was actually my mum that got me into it. I agree. There's a difference between wanting equality and overcompensation. Worst part is that she's inevitably going to be compared to Montoya, who proved to be a pain in the ass for Schumacher and even finished the 2003 season 11 points behind him.
@@noobednatherium4082 I don't think that is fair to say it is completely equal right now and the only reason there hasn't been a female F1 driver is because they don't want to be there or wouldn't be able to handle it. The problem is that children will relate to and aspire to be like adults they see similar to them. I've watched F1 since I can remember and not once did it cross my mind that I wanted to be an F1 driver because I didn't see a single female there. We need female F1 drivers to make young girls see it as an inclusive sport but I really don't want the domino effect to start due to a token female. Diversity is not shoving the two women from the marketing department at the front of all the team photos. I don't know what the answer is because we need female representation to encourage young girls to see karting as open to them too and wait two decades for them to work up to F1. Equally though, I don't want a female F1 driver just so teams can show off how "great" they are. One major hurdle for women i foresee is finding sponsors - look at how male focused the current sponsors are. You'd need to be finding either unisex brands or female aimed brands to join the sport which is a massive ask when the smallest sponsorship deals are in the millions.
I genuinely want to see a femme F1 driver get in. And then be able to compete regardless of gender. She could probably progress like Stroll, if in a midfield team.

I was shaking in anticipation on the moment Lord Rags theme tune was played.
You didn't disappoint :D
I really hope drivers like this don’t get into F1. Everything is about money nowadays
It’s actually less about money, you just weren’t able to see this side of it in the past
F1 has literally always been about money.
@@TimAyro word
@@TimAyro not like how it is now. Everything is moneybased, you can get into F1 with barely any skill, but with a lot of money
No matter you’re race/gender money will ALWAYS get you into motorsport...It’s just how that world works
Dubai track is an AMAZING TRACK, F1 should have A race there to try it
Could you do one on either Katherine Legge, or Christina Nielsen? As of now I would say they are the best female drivers in the world alongside Jamie Chadwick.
My theory on female racing drivers - the less attractive ones are faster. None of those three (or the greatest ever, Michèle Mouton) are particularly pretty. They got to where they are through actual talent rather than being a good-looking woman who can get sponsorship money.
@@drunkenhobo8020 do you do this with type of analysis with male drivers as well or are you just sexist?
@@pitstopf1jan How the hell is that sexist?
@@pitstopf1jan I'm sexist because I think women should be judged on ability and not how good they look in a bikini?
Boy, the definition of "sexism" sure has changed in recent times.
Also yes, the limited-talent-driver-funded-by-daddy's-cash-so-he-can-live-vicariously-through-his-child is almost exclusively a male phenomenon. That's not sexist to point that out either.
@@drunkenhobo8020 The way you phrased your first comment makes it sound like you think there is a connection between the attractiveness of a female driver and her pace (not attractive = faster, attractive = slower) and I think that is a bullshit way of thinking.
Your second response is the way I think too and if that is what you really think, I guess you could agree, that your comment at least was poorly phrased.
will they have to tell the rest of the F1 field to slow down for the sake of equality, or should i say equity?
Calderon is the Mahaveer that actually made it to F1
No matter what she does in terms of her career, her smile and beauty always melt me. :)
The switch to endurance seems to be suiting her better and think that's where she will end up excelling more
She's not a bad driver but the was definitely a lot of pressure and focus with some tragedy which impacted her career.
She still has a role to play at Alfa Romeo but don't think will break through but it will help her career where she is now
She has ASSets... as a driver she is just a field filler BUT she is good to look at so she will maintain a ride. I do hope she gets better as a racer though so she isn't just a poster.
Nice setup for the ad, mate. Also, didn't a woman drive for Brabham the year Damon Hill debuted with that team?
okay my man this was a smoooooth transition to the sponsor, I didn't even realize it, so smoooth, good job!
6:28 Sean Gelael. *BRUH!*
Always gets me! 🤣
I'm currently 6th or 7th in the championship standings
Tatiana sadly never got a points finish, the closest being at Monaco where she was nipping at the heels of me in 10th before she got her wing wiped out by a reckless overtake attempt from a Haas I think and the ensuing pit stop sent her down the grid
She demanded more money? 😂
@@yellow_x522 Money demands go up as a driver's acclaim increases. I faced this issue as well with Raghunathan of all people.

Lella Lombardi wasn't the last woman in F1. In 1992 a woman named Giovanna Amati competed 3 races for Brabham, but she never qualified and was replaced by Damon Hill.
Always happy to see a new video of yours, keep it up mate :)
Yeah, she's not a truly bad driver. She's just intensely mediocre. A few above average results can't change that. She's also 27, soon to be 28, and she really should've shown something more by this stage. It's not like she's 18 and still has years of developing and maturing ahead of her.
To be fair, she's more "deserving" of being around F1 than Susie Wolff ever was
To me, she kind of fits in the Christina Nielsen, Katherine Legge area of decently high level pro driver, just not quite f1 worthy yet. To me, those three are the top female drivers in the world right now, with maybe Jaime Chadwick and Simona Deselvestro from a few years ago. Simona is really the last one I thought might make it.
Smooth transition into ad my dude
That transition to the Skilshare sponsor spot was almost as smooth as Linus's.
Short answer: no
Long answer: N O
I remember her racing in Star Mazda years ago, an I honestly thought that she had some talent. I didn't know that she switched to racing in Europe because of what happened to Wheldon. Personally, I wish she would have stayed on the Road to Indy. She probably doesn't belong in Indycar, but I think she would have had a smoother time developing her skills as a racer.
Finishing behind Jesus was an amazing meme
That transition into the ad was way too smooth lmao
Whenever I hear her name all I can think about is her being mahaveer’s back row buddy.
But in all seriousness she’s an alright driver, definitely not f1 worthy but could do well in enduro, or even Indy maybe
What about Sophia Floersh, she's very quick right?
Edit: nvm I just looked her up, she's not much better, if not worse😅
Thank you. Flörsch is so damn overrated and I don't know where this comes from? Maybe this could be a topic for the next video
@@Linter7 she survived that massive Macau GP wreck in which her car literally got launched over the barrier and into a building with her head going first. Look it up. I can't believe that happened, much less her getting out of there alive. Say what you want about her but that was tough to watch even today.
I’m so annoyed that I had a UA-cam ad as the dan wheldon crash started
Start vid, skip to end, replay. No ads. You're welcome
@@TheRealHoltzy I know that I’m just saying it ruined the moment
She looks like Enzo Fittipaldi a few years ago LMAO
Do a video about Felix da Costa, I am Portuguese and I like your channel a lot. Keep up with the amazing work you have been doing! 👌
Bad drivers crash regularly. She's just an average driver coming from a family with lots of money. People are critical of her simply because she's a woman and they think that's what is supplying her opportunities, which isn't true. SHE'S RICH!!!
Yeah, she's at most an Ocon, but definetely not a Mazepin. She isn't that bad really, she's about average for a "trust-fund pilot".
@@LynnVal Yeah that's what I was thinking when he said, even if she isn't worthy of a F1 spot, only a handful of people in the world are, really. Mazepin is bad, but he got the money. I can picture her driving decent enough to finish races in 19th place at least, ahead of him.
If you gave this resume to a racing team to analyse and don't mention gender at all, would they even give the resume a second look?
Loved the Colombian flag at the thumbnail!
6:23 as soon as i saw that Jagonya Ayam i already bruh'ed myself before Josh do
I'm not entirely familiar with her racing career (this video helped, thank you), but I can't help but wonder if a lot of it is pressure from being the only woman on the grid in most of those situations, and often in cars not designed for anyone below - say, 5'6".
Maybe Calderon should have watched a Skillshare video on driving a F1 racecar
Can you take another look at her in Indycar after this season or before her drive this season
This video was actually kind to her not comparing her points to her teammates points.
She got absolutely destroyed by Russell, Dennis, Aitken and Beckmann and so on. Like hundreds of points behind them.
either way she's gorgeous 🇨🇴🇨🇴
And today she was announced to be driving for AJ Foyt in Indycar part time
As much as I would love to see a women in F1, man she is difficult to recommend :(.
I'm a 27 year old female and have been watching F1 for 23 years. It was actually my mum that got me into it.
As much as I would LOVE to see a female driver on the grid, I don't want it to to be a token female because then it is implying we aren't good enough to be there without handouts from the men.
@@hannahb6471 AND many people like to shit about ''diversity'' even though it's not like anyone's stopping females from racing, they just don't want to, or can't keep up, because the average woman is biologically less strong than the average male, and one more thing, If Danica Patrick was a male, she wouldn't be heard of in motorsports, ever.
I agree. There's a difference between wanting equality and overcompensation.
Worst part is that she's inevitably going to be compared to Montoya, who proved to be a pain in the ass for Schumacher and even finished the 2003 season 11 points behind him.
@@OrdinaryLatvian WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD COMPARE THIS WAHMEN TO MONTOYA?!
Watching this after she finished 3 laps down at st. Pete in indycar 👀
On a serious note, her title run against Lord Mahaveer was lit. Two points between 'em; as exciting as Hakkinen and Irvive!
Isn't that lovely we got to see Gelael in this video, what a legend
I just love to see latin american representation in motorsport so i will always root for my fellow americanos
I genuinely want to see a femme F1 driver get in. And then be able to compete regardless of gender. She could probably progress like Stroll, if in a midfield team.
