The height of enjoyable Hollywood artifice. Every hair in place, make-up perfect, lighting of every possible surface just right, every prop placed exactly, dances choreographed so that the correct person's face is visible at the correct time...
I just remember the “Joker” days. He was great on Batman. But it’s always nice to see some of those old stars in their younger days. The ones like Romero and Sammy Davis Jr could do it all.
As always, a beautiful, crisp clip! They're so charming together! Thanks so much for posting this; probably one of my favorites! Abrcos! varadero/johh/lechusa!
A charming segment, brilliantly restored, from a forgotten age! Am in process currently of learning more about Mr. Romero's life both before and after his years in Hollywood. At my age, I now can appreciate fully his smooth elegance and heretofore unknown-to-me dancing abilities. Although I know who Alice Faye was, I have almost no familiarity with her life or movies. I've heard her on Radio Classics in the husband-wife comedy "The Phil Harris & Alice Faye Show", a popular, long-running series in pre-TV days and/or before it had much influence. I liked the one movie of hers I've seen from start-to-finish, "Rose of Washington Square", co-starring Tyrone Power and Al Jolson. I was impressed with Ms. Faye, though I bought the movie because I'm a huge fan of Jolson, and he's seen at his best in it. As for Ms. Faye, all I can say about seeing her in this clip is that her dancing is a pleasure to watch; she's graceful, airy, and confident--and she really is most fetching in that black dress and hat! They both convey an aura of not having a care in the world--and that they're having alot of fun in the bargain! The duo makes us want to jump into our computer screens and enter their world--but only if we could be Romero's or Faye's characters themselves! Great, enjoyable clip!
@UncleCharlieOakley .....You are right on the money.....They were all so absolutely gorgeous....And this movie is one of my favorite musicals....thanks for viewing and commenting!!!
@tickledpink2U ...lololol......yes, Astaire was a great dancer, but lacked the looks and charisma Cesar had.....I love this movie.....Cesar looked gooood in that white suit.......he started out as a professional dancer, that's how he broke into showbiz...
