I recall reading that Cesar Romero and Joan Crawford were great friends and he very often escorted her to various Hollywood parties where they danced together. Joan (a wonderful dancer herself) loved him and called him by his nick-name, which was "Butch." I, as a young kid, first got to know him as "The Joker" on the Batman TV series. I had no clue about his earlier film career. A very talented man, and, of course, Betty Grable was incredible in her own right.

Great dancing pair. They complement each other very well doing an eye-pleasing dance routine with multiple rhythms.

Hermes Pan was the choreographer here so it's no surprise we see the Astaire/Rogers similarities, although I agree that Romero is an elegant and accomplished performer!

I was beginning to sense that Mr. Romero probably came from a dancing background before entering movies. Am only just learning about his early years. Sort of re-discovering him right now, a fun little project. I really didn't know he had such dancing skill. I've only seen glimpses of some of his films over the years, scenes usually where he was romancing and charming the ladies, always pleasant and gallant, usually in a South American nightclub setting like the once viewed here. Don't recall extensive dancing, though. Perhaps I only ever came across scenes of dialogue. Anyway, this number had quite a nice flow to it, along with a fun, light-hearted energy. Ms. Grable looked smoothly graceful and feminine, their mutual timing very impressive. There was a time when I couldn't've stomached such scenes in old movies. No more! Must have something to do with my age--and knowing how today's world is sadly lacking in manners, morals, class, charm, and elegance. This segment brings back, however briefly and idyllically, a vanished era!

He started dancing at an early age
One of the staff at his house taught him all the steps
His father was quite wealthy until the fall of 1929 then cesar supported the family.he stayed single so no wife would take his money!

Romero is in a class with Astaire Buchanan in this style of dance -- ballroom? It's almost ballet in its elegance and emotion. Romero seems to glide over the floor in pretty much the same manner as Astaire and Buchanan.

@faye5515 Thanks for your comment....I agree with you....I have posted other "dancing clips" of Cesar Romero, but I especially like this movie because there are 3 dance segments with Betty Grable in this one.....I don't know about Betty, but did you know that Cesar was a professional dancer before he became an actor!!

I always thought the name of this film was "Springtime for Hitler in the Rockies'.
