+Gear Banger The '80s brought back some performance to the V8-Ponycars. Not so much horsepower by today's standards but torque was fantastic from the long tuned runner design of the Ford H.O intake and GM Tuned Port intake. The were a blast in stoplight to stoplight street action. The '80s Fox-body 5.0 Mustang and F-body G92-optioned 5-speed model IROC-Z and 5.7 TPI Formula 350 Firebird will always be the closest models to my heart lol. The '80s was a great decade to grow up in. Great music, cool cars and the greatest modern day President Ronald Reagan! If only we had Reagan now, lol.
+nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town You don't have to tell me brother, I was a product of the 80's myself. Fox Bodies, cordless house phones (with that big retractable antenna), He-Man action figures, Saturday morning cartoons by day and B.A. Baracus and the rest of the A-Team in the evening, neighbourhoods streets and baseball diamonds littered with kids playing, riding bikes and up to all sorts of nonsense. When I was a youth, a social network consisted of the kids on your street...not make believe internet faux friends. Not to mention, most of the stuff you bought from your auto parts store was still made in North America. Kids today really have no idea how deprived they really are. Lazy, mouthy and no imagination. I look at my own kids and pity them for experiences they'll never have growing up, because they're too busy with their heads buried in their personal electronics to notice the world around them.
***** Tell me you stuffed your baseball cards in your bike spokes with a clothespin lol. You are right though. I try to get my kids to understand what it was like to grow up in the '80s, my Daughter gets it but my Son is just busy playing Pokémon, Minecraft and Roblox (whatever that is lol) My Daughter is really into American history, she even goes to Civil War battlefields with me, relic hunts with me and helps me with my other UA-cam channel: ua-cam.com/video/eBUR6TNpDh4/v-deo.html ....anyway, the '80s were an amazing decade to live through. I wouldn't change those memories for anything.
RIP NATE, I don't know you but your orange fox is one badass ride and I've been coming back to see it on mustang town for the past few years now, RIP .
That was awesome man. Thanks for that. He was a good 'ole boy really, just a country boy from #SummitPoint West Virginia. He loved his Foxbody 5.0 Mustangs, his G-body Malibu Classics and his Novas, all featured on the #MustangTown channel somewhere lol... and dude knew his way through the gearboxes, he could rip lol. He started organizing "Drag Racing for Cash" events at Berkeley Springs airport a couple years ago and asked if I would film the events for him but with my current busy schedule and being far away from that region now I had to decline. We chatted occasionally through texting but we hadn't seen each other in person in a few years. God, back around 2001 we would get together early Saturday morning and cruise for hours in the Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland countrysides in search of potential project cars and we would go treasure hunting in the junkyards searching for GT40p heads & intakes, AC delete brackets, 24lb injectors and other boneyard gold. Hell, he found me 4 or 5 cars back then. He found me a gorgeous 1987 Camaro IROC-Z with the 5.7 liter TPI 350 for $1,800 and a 1985 Mustang GT for $1,500 as well as a couple more amazing deals. He literally knew EVERYBODY and knew who had all the good hot rod parts and all the best deals on wheels lol. Those are some of my favorite memories back then. Thank you again for the kind words bud.
@@nedaCFilms that was wonderful brother, nate sounds like a great guy and gear head for life...I want to thank people like you and Nate because I'm 26 years old and when I was a little kid in the late 90's and early to mid 2000's up here in brampton, Ontario, Canada it's because of people like you and Nate that I got into mustangs and Camaro's seeing them drive by and rip through the gears blasting music only to turn around see it was coming from a mustang or a camaro, the 5.0 sound is unmistakable no matter what, I got my first mustang in 2016 which was a 1994 GT 5 speed after seeing one as a kid because my neighbor had one until 2003 and because of the sn95 budget build video on your channel...I drove the shit out of that car until the rear frame rail rust became too bad to bother repairing in Jan 2020, I currently have a 1988 turbocoupe which I plan on either 5.0 swapping or maybe a 351w swap and then strapping a turbo onto that...the original 2.3t has some worn rod bearings as evidenced by the oil change I did last week...But nothing beats the look and sound of a 79-95 5.0 mustang and I can't wait to get another 94-95 gt...my dad also had a 1993 mustang LX...it was 4 cyl with auto trans lol but still I remember as a kid that people never called it the ford mustang...it was just MUSTANG and it just sounded cool as hell that people just called it THE MUSTANG...even when I got my 1994 gt my dad would call it just straight up "how's the MUSTANG running?" But once again thank you to people like you and Nate for driving these cars, you guys have probably influenced hundreds if not thousands of once young kids to buy mustangs as adults and see what the allure is all about without even realizing it, thank you guys...and I promise to make sure I get my future kids into mustangs and f body's as well
@JohnnyButtons I actually have a 2011 3.7 v6 stang right now...not bad, really came alive with a bama tune though, but I already blew one engine lol cracked the block and had a slow coolant leak which mixed with the oil then ate the rod bearings then KNOCK KNOCK so swapped in a new engine, I sold the tbird as well...I usually buy these cars for cheap to figure out the flaws so that I'm better prepared to tackle them and know what to look for when buying a mint version. Currently on the hunt for a another turbocoupe but with manual climate controls like in the mustangs plus the equalizer for the stereo, and tbh the ecoboost 4 cylinders are great but eat coolant no matter what...I have a k20a2 from a rsx type s sitting in my garage with fully forged rods and pistons good for like 700hp sitting in a box, waiting for economy to crash which it should start to soon so I can take advantage of cheap car prices for mint examples and reduced rates at the machine shop...but truth be told I more than likely won't turbo the k20a2...I'm going to get a mercracing twin screw TVS 2300 supercharger kit for it since the tbird has some heft to it...but off boost the old 2.3 was torquey enough to move it, so if the k20a2 can Atleast match that NA then I'll see if I need the added torque from a supercharger or if I can just go with a twin scroll turbo
Man I swear Flowmaster mufflers were made for mustangs the combination of no cats with the full duel exhaust H pipe and some 2 chamber flows (I think they call them 40 series these days) hands down the best sounding cars that have ever been on the road period in my opinion. Even a completely stock 5.0 with off road exhaust and flows sound just nasty and when you through a nice modified motor in the mix DAMN it just gets better and hell when they started putting the modular motors in the stangs they almost sound better than the old 5 liters with flows especially the 4 cammers like when the 03-04 Cobras hit the street music to my ears gives me wood every time I hear 1 crackling down the road flows with that supercharger whine awesome. I don't like the new mustangs because of that 1 thing why the hell didn't they just leave the mufflers up under the car with pipe after the mufflers just like they were. Something don't sound right about the new stangs with the mufflers behind the axle like they are they need exhaust pipe to continue on after the muffler to make that classic sound y'all got to know what I mean. It's kinda like when guys started cutting the pipes off under the car right after the mufflers just didn't sound the same to me just don't have that nice crisp rasp if you want to call it that like the cars with a full system all the way. Y'all have some of the best sounding stangs I've ever herd on the Internet.
The good old days when a mustang was priced for anyone . Now you need a good job . If you worked at McDonald's you would work there for your car payment only . I bought my 92 LX emerald green for 14,000 brand-new
14000 @ minimum wage 1992 would have you at needing 3295 hours worked @ 4.25 minimum wage Today's mustang gt is 38k for a base gt @ today's minimum wage would need 2534 hours worked . So it's actually cheaper today lol
Audience, I'll be a Fox man for life, no other way around it... I love all mustangs, but will ALWAYS have one Fox in my garage collection... Who else agree?

JD the a/c man Yep, and you usually hear them a minute or two before seeing them, lol. I get excited when I hear one coming, like a kid on X-mas eve, lol.
JD the a/c man best sounding? WTF with flowmaster aka echo.master mufflers are some of the shittyest, no tuned sound, mufflers ever made, but most kids think there the great since, x-box came out.
The 5 top brand mufflers that have been installed on 5.0 Mustangs since the whole movement really exploded in the late '80s through '90s were: -Flowmaster -Borla -Mac -Dynomax -Magnaflow ...everyone has their personal taste and opinions of how a 5.0 Mustang should sound. For me personally, you can't beat the classic 5-liter sound that's enhanced by the hollow-throaty sound of Flowmaster's chambered mufflers. Borla and MAC are my second choices.... I'm not a big fan of Dynomax or Magnaflow on the old 5.0 cars, although Magnaflow sounds fantastic on the new 5.0 models. I have never been a lover of Dynomax, even if they came factory on Saleen SSC models. SLP has jumped in the Mustang exhaust market, but I just prefer SLP on GM F-bodies. I have Flowmasters on my LX hatchback and I have Magnaflows on my LX notchback and I'm taking the Magnaflows off and installing 2-chamber Flowmasters. I love the sound of Flowmasters with an off road X-pipe! We all have our opinions, nothing is wrong or right, it's what gives us that tickle in our tummies, lol.
You must like the glass pack sound WTF almost sound you you got a personal problem with some mufflers not da man calm down its ok. The x box comment don't get that one bro.
Just traded a t5 for a whole 93 hatch with a built aod and clean title. Putting the heads on the motor today! Full 3in with spintechs. Hope it likes nitrous 😉
What a Great Video! As you can see from my Avatar, I got an SRT8 Charger in the stable---BUT my one-and-only baby doll, is / was my (very first NEW car) 1985 Fox Body 5.0 Stang GT hatchback; 5-speed, in Oxford White with Raccoon Eyes, Dark Grey GT hood middle, and Dark Grey trim with Weld Draglites. It has all the motor mods you're talking about and H-pipe w/ Flowmaster American Thunder 2.5 inch pipes. Sounds EXACTLY like the Orange Stang in this video and will do rolling burnouts as well. It will never leave, until death do us part!!
The Oxford white 1985 GT and 1986 GT models will always be my favorite 5.0 Foxbody Mustang of all time!!! I owned a 1985 GT and a 1986 GT and not a day goes by that I don't think about those cars lol. I have a mint 1989 LX now that's clean as a pin but sometimes I think about selling it for another 85-86 model..... but then I'd probably be sick over letting that one go, lol.... I'm never satisfied though. BTW, I have a video of a red SRT8 Charger on my channel that you might enjoy. ua-cam.com/video/lWtwGNA94h0/v-deo.html
Still a great combo. Just picked up a 88 with the gt40 heads/intake e303 and a vortech. I'm 40 now. 20byears ago I built a 347 blower car. To much cam. To much boost and it sucked on the street but as t the drags she was hella legit. Enjoying the more tame version now.
this thing looks exactly like my mustang once did... I almost feel like I own this exact one now lol. but now it has gt40p heads instead... and is carbed..
Yusuke Saito? just intrested in sharing info I to have a 86 Gt. starting the build and I'd like another member advice. At this stage I'm with e303 cam trick flow upper and lower roller rockers 1.78 valve springs. and a Hughes 2000 stall.. any input is appreciated..
I honestly couldn't tell you. I joined the Air Force in 1999 and the last time I was home was in 2003. The scene here in Georgia is huge for Mustangs. Camaros not so much lol.
I know the pushrod 5.0 mustangs sound amazing .They do especially cammed with b303 cam or E303 cam . I do have to say I like the sound of 4.6 2v . I have a new edge convertible , with a bassani x pipe , original 40 series .
The 4.6 engines, 2V and 4V sound just as amazing. Ford just knew how to mix firing order with crossover tube exhaust placement to get a sound like no other V8.
@@nedaCFilms The Modular 2v , 4v have the same firing order has 5.0 Ho , 351 Windsor . Two very different designs , but they don't sound anything like chevy , chrysler V8 .The 5.0 is torquey ...its power delivery is very good ....it will rev. The pi head 2v 4.6 likes to rev . The power delivery in a mustang GT below 2000 rpm it has nothing. 2000 rpm to 3000 rpm it likes it !!! Gears help the modular , TB , plenum. Power delivery different , but neither rev like a dohc 4.6 4v .
+ron haley actually this was coming out of Berryville getting on route 7 west towards Winchester. Anytime Ron, give me a shout and we will hook up and cruise out to Summit Point or a local car show in Warrenton or Manassas sometime. This time a year I do a lot of relic hunting/metal detecting but I will make time for car stuff, lol. I'm just up route 211 in Amissville. I drive through Warrenton everyday man.
Damn, 20 years ago I could’ve told you. But it is a Maaco catalog color. Back in the ‘90s we would do our own bodywork prep then take it to Maaco and have them spray it. They always had $299 specials and we took advantage lol.
@@nedaCFilms wow ya you definitely can’t find those deals anymore. I have an fox I just bought. I was thinking of going for the same look as Nate’s was. That black one of yours was super cool too.
In the mid ‘90s he had a 1992 orange 5.0 LX and someone caught it on fire across from Burger King on Valley Ave it it burned to the ground, then in later ‘90s he got a 1989 black LX automatic with little yellow Saleen stripes on lower doors, which he Bunny Jenkins convert it to 5-speed, swapped a A9P computer and painted it orange like the original orange LX and put nitrous on it with 4.10 gears and ripped around town until he torched that engine lol, then he swapped in another 5.0 engine and him and Bobby Henson added GT40 heads, E303 cam, Cobra intake, 24lb injectors, 65mm throttle body, bigger MAF, A9L computer, MSD ignition, Tremec transmission, aluminum driveshaft and few other goodies (which was the setup from this video) …then he swapped to an F303 cam. Then he ended up with GT40p heads and for some reason swapped back to a factory .444 H.O cam and sold the car to a kid in Berryville and he bought the 1990 black GT from Igor around 2003. He then sold the black GT around 2004-05 and bought the orange LX back lol.
@@nedaCFilms the black gt was my favorite car he owned been watching this channel since 2nd grade back in 2009… can’t believe he sold that thang based on the mid 12 seconds quarter mile times it probably was in the neighborhood of 400hp all motor a 331 stroker would’ve done wonders for that fox my dad has a 1992 gt since 1994 mint condition
These are the best sounding Mustangs ever made the new ones sound like shit I'm not into that exotic sound. Nothing sounds better than a Fox body sounding like a old school muscle car.
Yeah bud, nothing sounds better than an old conventional 5.0 with off road H-pipe or X-pipe and 2-chamber or 3-chamber Flowmaster mufflers.... in my opinion. The DOHC 4.6 Cobra motors are amazing sounding as well. These new 5.0 Coyote motors do sound good at 8000 RPM though lol ua-cam.com/video/7iEZksFQ83g/v-deo.html
nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town yeah I guess I should take that back they don't sound like shit I just don't think they sound as good as the old fox bodies. Every Mustang that I have owned has had an Off Road H pipe and Flowmasters you just can't beat the sound in my opinion.
How is the Camaro-Mustang scene down in VB? I actually briefly lived in Virginia Beach many years ago, out towards Dam Neck..... haven't been back since the summer of 1993.
love mine awesome, should get a tfs up and lower intake you will notice alot more power they flow so much better those cobra intakes were good back in the day but are pretty much just junk anymore, rock on.
I have a set of Ford Explorer GT 40 heads and I want to install the E303 cam. Do I need to change the springs? If so what are you using? Thanks in advance.
He never had it on a Dyno but with this setup I think he managed a 13.2 in the 1/4 mile. If I had to guess I’d say it probably would’ve Dyno’d in the 275ish hp range at the wheels, give or take.
Even today a mildly modded fox is a force to reckoned with on the street. Sure there are faster cars nowadays but a simple HCI swap with some gears a Fox is still a nasty little freak on the street.

The 5 top brand mufflers that have been installed on 5.0 Mustangs since the whole movement really exploded in the late '80s through '90s were:
-Flowmaster
-Borla
-Mac
-Dynomax
-Magnaflow
...everyone has their personal taste and opinions of how a 5.0 Mustang should sound.
The x box comment don't get that one bro.
im surprised you could put the xbox game down to comment, any ways nice cars, very nice paint job, just don't like the new age mufflers, that's all.
Good stuff, thanks for posting.
So clean back in the day!!
Good looking car
Man I remember Nat's orange stang like it was yesterday. Crazy to see it on UA-cam today !
Yeah man, shame he passed away last fall.
@@nedaCFilms agreed.....
I had an1985, the last year with a Holley carb. Swapped out 2.73 rear gear for a 373. It was great with the five speed even on the highway.
Rip nate my condolences brotha
Respects.
Wow 2 very nice mustangs thanks for sharing
Thanks for checking 'em out, lol.
GEN X MUSCLE BABY
I once knew a fella from Ohio named Jack Rabbit.
Makes me miss my 88 fox
ya vids like these made me miss my 88 lx hatch too..... so I got a 88 GT :) a work in progress. just cosmetic stuff needed. all factory still.
America's Sport Car !
See, if we (Americans) don't have a V-8 motor, we feel like we got ripped off !
matt w that means you got ripped off if you don’t have one
What is that awesome hood on the black gt? I have an black 86 gt as well and would love to have it.
How did Nate pass I've been a fan of the vids for the past 15 years
Cardiac arrest. Told his wife he felt bad, got up to use bathroom and collapsed. Thanks for the support.
@@nedaCFilms whatever happened to his car car was badass
@@nedaCFilms Sorry for your loss brother. RIP Nate!
Another Cam that sounded really good and was one of my personal favorites was the Wolverine 1087 camshaft!
Looks like you all where coming from linden area ? Getting on 66. I got to catch up with u guys soon , im in warrenton
Very nice video!
Both a nice
Very cool
Wonder what the color name of this was
Damn, 20 years ago I could’ve told you. But it is a Maaco catalog color. Back in the ‘90s we would do our own bodywork prep then take it to Maaco and have them spray it. They always had $299 specials and we took advantage lol.
My black ‘86 GT was sprayed by Maaco as well lol.
@@nedaCFilms wow ya you definitely can’t find those deals anymore. I have an fox I just bought. I was thinking of going for the same look as Nate’s was. That black one of yours was super cool too.
Nice fox are you guys near Centreville?
I like the music coming out of the tailpipes better anyhow...
What ever happened to the orange car
What year did Nate get the orange lx and when did he get the black gt? he ever own both foxes at the same time?
In the mid ‘90s he had a 1992 orange 5.0 LX and someone caught it on fire across from Burger King on Valley Ave it it burned to the ground, then in later ‘90s he got a 1989 black LX automatic with little yellow Saleen stripes on lower doors, which he Bunny Jenkins convert it to 5-speed, swapped a A9P computer and painted it orange like the original orange LX and put nitrous on it with 4.10 gears and ripped around town until he torched that engine lol, then he swapped in another 5.0 engine and him and Bobby Henson added GT40 heads, E303 cam, Cobra intake, 24lb injectors, 65mm throttle body, bigger MAF, A9L computer, MSD ignition, Tremec transmission, aluminum driveshaft and few other goodies (which was the setup from this video)
…then he swapped to an F303 cam.
Could you tell a hp difference with gt40 heads/intake and a cam ? Is it worth it to go to gt40 setup
I got a auto and still could tell the difference lol
Did Nate pass away?.
Yeah, he passed a few weeks back sadly.
That's horrible, I'm sorry to hear this!!
What kinda orange was that fox body with the saleen wing
I'm from Virginia Beach, where are you guys at in Virginia?
All the way up at the most northern part of Virginia...
How is the Camaro-Mustang scene down in VB? I actually briefly lived in Virginia Beach many years ago, out towards Dam Neck..... haven't been back since the summer of 1993.
nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town I take that back, I was down there in 2000 for a Grace Jiu-Jitsu seminar with Frank Cucci and Pedro Sauer.
love mine awesome, should get a tfs up and lower intake you will notice alot more power they flow so much better those cobra intakes were good back in the day but are pretty much just junk anymore, rock on.
do you have to flash the computer to get rid of the rich condition after adding the 303 Cam?
Hit up Ted Jenkins for a tune
How much power?
I have a set of Ford Explorer GT 40 heads and I want to install the E303 cam. Do I need to change the springs? If so what are you using? Thanks in advance.
It's a good idea but you don't have to with the E303
@@nedaCFilms Really? I can just install the heads as is? Can I use the push rods and rollers from my 5.0? Thanks for responding.
@@richardprice7107 It would be a good idea to change the valve springs so you don't run into valve float or coil bind issues.
What did the orange car run in the 1/4
I think the best time he ever got out of it was 13.23
@@nedaCFilms what did he have for mods
Can you please drop Nate’s mods I have same heads intake cam and a tune but unfortunately a auto
GT40 iron heads, E303 cam, Cobra intake, 24lb injectors, 65mm throttle body, BBK headers, X-pipe, Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back exhaust, 4.10 gears, Tremec 5-speed and few other things I’m probably forgetting lol
What did it put down for power
He never had it on a Dyno but with this setup I think he managed a 13.2 in the 1/4 mile. If I had to guess I’d say it probably would’ve Dyno’d in the 275ish hp range at the wheels, give or take.
how many RPMs is running on the highway at like 60 -70 mph?
what color orange is that fox??
Just something Maaco had available
Id love to have this on my sn95
What's it run in the 1/4?
13.2 I believe was the best time.
I dunno man... I kinda like that SVO hood!
It did look mean I guess lol.
Not bad at all. I think you can pull off that look on a black car.
@@fwh79FOXR6 I ended up selling that hood to a fella in Virginia Beach, and installed the factory hood.
GT40 heads? Heads from a real GT40 or that's just the name of the heads?
GT40 heads from a ‘93 SVT Cobra
Why The Hate ???? ^_^ __#3DISLIKES__ Don't Blame The Popcorn Guys ^_^
+Angel Velasquez I'm with ya on that, lol.
+nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town make more vids please
if you was smoking mustangs with a honda you havent met the right fox body yet
Jarrod Edelen he's racing 16yo high school kid's little econobox 6-banger junk is what he's racing lol.
@@nedaCFilms ora 4ganger with 5.0 badges lol
Even today a mildly modded fox is a force to reckoned with on the street. Sure there are faster cars nowadays but a simple HCI swap with some gears a Fox is still a nasty little freak on the street.
I use to smoke these back in high school with a Honda, and now here i am looking to drop a 5.0 engine.
LOL!!!
Jonathan Cabanas then you woke up.!! and walked to school.....
I woke up and walked to school? Yes like 15 years ago LMFAO dumb kids.
***** don't hate because you ride a bicycle
Or.... a mustang or a bmw m3...you pick.
that thing has a damn spoiler.
Saleen style spoiler to be exact lol.
Who even cares? It's his ride he can fix it up the way he wants.
I don't believe he was directing the comment in a negative manner lol.
