+DopeFragz Doesn't matter what anyone says or thinks anyway... it's what makes you happy and excited, and gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling inside lol. Five to ten years from now you will be damn happy that you kept the Fox-body because prices are shooting up right now. The window of cheap affordable Fox-Mustang models is closing.
Me too brother! I still have my '91 GT as well. It's in my garage, covered up, and has been off the street since 2005. I am, however, in the process of getting her ready for the summer :-) Seeing a 5.0 on the street where I live is like spotting Bigfoot so I'm excited to be bringing her back out!
I'm a Gen X'er and I approve of this message. My '89 notch is in the garage right now. If you weren't around in the late 80's early 90's its hard to explain the impact this car had. Good 'ol days. This video gave me chills.
As a high school kid in the late 80’s, and the fact my best friend in high school had a stripper ‘89 notch with a 5 psd and 3.08 Trak-Lok, there wasn’t a Chevy in town that was safe. That car hauled ass and took a beating. Never missed a beat. Very fond memories and many miles in that car. Long live the 5.0 HO and the Foxbody. Thanks Ford for many good times and thanks for a great video tribute. Great job.
***** LatemodelRestoration.com I have a question for Jeff, Tyler or any other fellas at Latemodel-Resto, do you guys keep past catalogs in storage by chance? ...and if so, would you sell a few? I had a nice collection of catalogs through the years and made the mistake of loaning them out, lol (only to never see them again) I am especially interested in I think the 2002 catalog, I believe it was yellow and featured the old LMR '79 pace car on the cover.... anyway, thanks for being there for us Fox-body guys!
Can't get enough of that 5.0 sound, soothing in a way, I grew up in Winnipeg MB, a teenager in the ninety's and in my old area called the Maples there were quite a few of these five litres kicking around, they put a four way stop sign in front of my house and every night guys would launch hard from that four way, first and second gear chirp, I liked it, drove my mom nuts!
I've owned one of these since I've been 20, I'm 34 and on my 3rd, a 87, a 89 25th anv. and now my 93 Cobra. I just don't feel alive without one in my driveway. Great video!
I had a 5.0 in high school (88-92). It was an 88 GT, 5.0, 5 spd. My only upgrade on the car was a heavy-duty racing clutch. Before GM introduced the new LT-1 in 93, the 5.0 was king of the street for that time. It would eat ANY stock GM of that era. I raced IROC Camaros, Firebird Formulas, Trans Ams, Vettes, 300 Z's you name it. (Obviously not faster than exotics but I'm talking about what another kid might actually have)... The car was REALLY bad ass from a "20 kick" (what they call roll racing now). 20mph, leave it in 1st (3000-3500 rpms) I'd give the GM's a FULL car length head start and tell them "I'll go when you go and if I can't pass you, we'll say you won"
Fox Body Mustang Generation X's muscle car Millennials' hot rod. I am 21 years old (a Chevy guy) and Generation X's muscle cars the Foxbody, the F-Bodies and the Monte Carlos have become popular among my generation. I drive an 86 Camaro IROC Z with TPI myself. A few of my friends have Fox Body's and another has a Carlo. All these cars have become the hot rods of my generation since they are cheap and have plenty of torque.
thank you very much for this trip down memory lane,im in my late 30's{37} and have been building fox bodies since the early 90's......these cars have not just been a hobby, theyve become a lifestyle for me--and all the great friends ive met over the years through the passion for these cars cannot be replaced, for any dollar amount--when im dead and buried I hope-sincerely hope there are younger people finding the passion for the mustang as we have p.s I still have my 93 I bought while in college--and now itll be running 7's hopefully on drag radials with the new twin turbo motor and 25.3 spec cage
I have a 2008 m3 I'm 40. I had a few foxbody mustangs back in the day...and still the m3 wasnt enough i wanted a fox and bought one . I'm a very happy man.😊
Wow!!! Those Foxes have aged so well. The sound of the 5.0L Fox is unforgettable. Sounds as good as Led Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven coming out of an exhaust pipe!!!!
It's crazy how so many of us gen x-er's who have never met share the same nostalgic memories and the same impact it had on our car groups growing up. I really don't see the market propulsion slowing down any time soon. If anything they're getting more popular. I've never seen a car market blow up like the fox and a few other 80's-90's cars have recently. Had an 88GT back in the day and picked up my 91 GT a year ago having no idea of the market blowing up on them or how much I would fall in love with them again. Great video.
The Fox Body has a real special legacy. Decades later people's ears perk up when they hear that classic sound. They know what it is before they see it, and they keep their eyes open for it. I've never seen a car demand that sort of attention.
Oh how I miss those cool late summer and early fall nights..... hanging out, showing off our Fox-bodies, TPI 3rd Gens, brand spanking new LT1 4th Gens and SN95 models.... hell we even had a couple above average G-body SS runners in the mix. Picking a potentially good matchup then driving a safe 5-10 miles out of town to the middle of "nowhere" and we would "quickly hit 'em off" ....then slowly cruise back to town while the adrenaline settled and the battle stories of the race began, lol. Cops didn't mess with us, it was good clean motorhead fun the way we did it. A few years later this ridiculous movie came out, titled "the Fast and the Furious" (you might have heard about it, lol) and suddenly the car-world had gone mad, someone opened the Import Sport Compact Tuner gates, giant tail-piped muffler type thingys, obnoxious body kits with wire mess all over it, massive monster grabber rear wings, multiple air vents in fenders, neon light bulbs hanging off everything, and absolutely horrid paint schemes. "A new movement, or another fade.....like a cry for help in a world gone mad", lol..... and it brought us peppy 'lil Vtec Honda Civics, silly Accords, Nissan Sentras with "R" on the back of it, Toyota Celicas that they wished were Supras and their Mom's 4-door Maxima loaded down and packed full of Eminem looking snots stuffed in the backseats 4-wide, started back to back street racing through neighborhoods, school zones and parking lots with their 130hp screamers..... waking up the neighborhood, getting themselves and others hurt, and much worse, killing innocent people unfortunately caught in their crossfire........ that did it for us, cops weren't looking the other way anymore..... American Graffiti was over. Here's a video of the type of "Fast and the Furious" fruit loops that I'm talking about, lol, ua-cam.com/video/_sOC9fB3hxM/v-deo.html LMAO!!!!
+nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town Friend of mine had a 5.0 LX hatch in high school, bone stock. Mid 2000s I begged him to sell it to me but he was going to fix it up. Well eventually it got sold off. I just picked up a '16 GT with the new Coyote 5.0. Nice car, but I still love the simplicity of the old fox body. My new Mustang has WiFi for nav updates...the old ones were so simple and light and awesome
This video really did inspire me to purchase my very first manual car at 19 years old.. a '91 Red Mustang GT Hatch. Took some time to learn how to drive on my own, but now that I can drive it it's a dream come true.
There is just something about a Foxbody. I have 2 now a 93 coupe and 91 Gt. I bought my first one in 1997 it was a 88 Gt. Over the years I have had at least 20 of them. They are just a blast to drive and work on.
Hey they remade the older one they should make a new version of the foxbody with some of that new engine technology with huge amounts of horse power and torque
I have 5 notchbacks and 3 hatchbacks and still can't get enough! I'm 49 and really miss the 80's when everyone hung out and had fun all weekend long with their Foxes.
Yes back when I was in high school I graduated in 99 that was the end of the era my first car was a emerald green LX hatch back 5.0 5spd 28k miles when I got it in early 98 . Their was still tons of people with their fox body's hanging out , I was the youngest and the baby of the group of guys and girls that graduated late 80 early 90 , I was the last of a dying bread that I literally watched die off . I still have my lx and its my baby . When I bust out a original paint emerald green lx people go crazy . But I don't hot dog anymore . I'm more concerned about somebody else hitting me , it's my week end car if that , I'm not risking breaking anything . clean fox is a 🦄
These cars were a big deal back in the '80s.... and I wanted to throw together a little 5.0 Mustang Foxbody tribute featuring some of my old Foxbody footage that I shot many years ago. Just a little tribute to the car... and the past, present and future Foxbody Mustang freaks out there.
nah i'll just end up burning the clutches up all the time haha and this is going to be a street strip car and i may do a little bracket racing so i want an auto for consistency too
What a great car! I had an '89 GT. Only once did that car let me down in a way that I could not fix it on the side of the road, (in tank fuel pump). Put 336,000 miles on it.
Awesome video! Anyone remember the "Valley 5.0" group from WFC I , II & III? We were a bunch of 18-19 year old kids that took our fox body cars half way across the country to watch a race! It was like the woodstock of our generation.
Got my first car a little over a yer ago and at 17 years old this thing is a blast from the past. She is a bright red 1991 lx 5.0. Best choice I ever made was giving this car the nod. I swear I'll never get rid of this car! Long live the fox!
When i was 16, One Hot summer night in june, I was with my father at a street light. I saw 2 black cars that That made such powerful sound, I didnt knew what they were, but i asked my dad was are they, he said "those are mustang". The 2 cars both took off in furry and it made such a powerful sounds i could feel the rumble at my feet. They were 2 Black Notchbacks. Such bad ass, i still remember this night , im 31 years old today. And i own a Black 1992 Notch.
I was born in 1996. When I was just a lil' boy, like 4-5 years old when I first saw one, and these things were still the real street kings. Alotta people I know still think they're ugly, and more say they're 'dated'. True, they were a product of their time, and they may not have the best styling, but they had attitude. They had presence, an 'Aura' if you will, that many cars just don't have. I'm 26 as I write this, and I still hope to one day have a 5.0 Foxbody Mustang in my garage, at some point, in my life.
They were everywhere, and that was an understatement. By the time I started high school in 1985, I was getting a first-hand look when some fellow students were bringing them to our auto mechanics class. I even developed a dislike, because I was getting tired of watching street races with nothing but Mustangs. During that time, daily driven big block classics were already scarce, and they were rapidly declining. It wasn't until I got out of the military in 1993, I bought an 89' GT. Then I was hooked, because it was all mine.
I love what Dodge is doing with the Challenger! The Dodge Challenger is one of the original #V8ponycars along with Camaro, Mustang, 'Cuda and Javelin that raced in the historic SCCA Trans am series!
Well technically the new 5.0 is two import inline 4-cylinders mated together into a V8 lol. Kinda like If you took two 2.4 VTEC engines and married them into a V design lol.
Ah. The good old days. Had an 85 that I built a long rod 306 with victor Jr. stuff. Miss it. Then a 1992 with iron gt 40 heads b cam and a Paxton. Sucks being 46 with 4 kids now and no fast cars. . Well, love my life. Just wish I had a gt again. Lots of fun.
+William Howell You can find a cheap project to tinker with. Few more years it will be hard to even find a project because prices will soon rise. Heck, maybe one of your kids will take to the project.... then you can pass it along to him when he is older.
I got an idea for you bud, tell your kids how much you miss your mustang and how before you retire you want to find a another foxbody but can’t afford it, then the kids will get you a foxbody and they’ll post it on UA-cam to share your reaction with the world, you get a mustang for free, kids get to make a couple hundred bucks off your reaction from UA-cam...win win lol but in all seriousness brother just look around you’ll find a good one for cheap, I got mine in the boonies up here in Canada for cheap, sold it a few months back but getting another one next year
I really liked the video; I have an '83 GLX 5.0 convertible, w/T5 manual transmission. 31k original miles, BBK shorty headers, off-road mid pipe and Magnaflow exhaust... It's a garage baby, parked under a carport and with a car cover. Bring it out on sunny weekend days & people constantly come up to me and start asking questions about the car....fun times!!
towheadmancos That's why I made this video.... to hear the old and new Fox-body 5.0 Mustang stories. I bought my first 5.0 Mustang back in the early '90s and my buddy had a 1983 GLX model 5.0 and we would race the !$%&? out of them sumbitches, lol.... didn't take him long to tear out 2nd gear..... then few months later I wrecked mine, lol.
Great video man. In the 90's I was in high school and remember a few of us had five-o's. To this day, my wife thinks I'm a freak when I hear (which is becoming more rare) a healthy 5.0 winding through the gears and I yell out "listen, it's a 5.0 Mustang!". What a distinctive sound!
the video is a throw back, but what you wrote is so spot on. I graduated high school in '85, right at the hype of the 5 oh. I bought my '92LX Coupe in '96 with 3000miles on it, it had been a garage queen and was stock as a rock. Original tires. Took me a little over a year to find the one I wanted. Still have it. 56k miles, stock interior, original paint, stock ride height and pony's. R302 block (306), ported stock heads, victor intake, solid roller cam... the sound it makes up over 7000rpm is a delight. Small cubes, small port heads, screaming thru the flowmasters.
+zedhudson Yeah buddy, the 'ole 5.0 Fox-Mustang has a cult-like following... and for the guys that experienced it in the '80s and early '90s have those very special lifelong memories!!! Just a handful of iconic American models like the '32 Ford coupe, the tri-five '55, '56 and '57 Chevy... the '69 Camaro, '67 Mustang fastback and the "5.0 Fox-body Mustang!
The mustang the cops hated back in the day . Now cops most cops I know , drive these new mustangs and when you have a fox they give you a pass . I had police waiting around the block from my school waiting for me to leave . Haha the good old days . 92 5.0 emerald green lx that still has the original paint 5spd , hasn't seen rain since 2000 . It's was my dream car when I was a kid . And having it still is great . For me having your dream car that you can actually afford is a good feeling . Would love a new cobra but wouldn't sell my fox to get it . Not like you get much for them , their days are ahead and getting better . Get the clean ones while you can with matching numbers . 🇺🇸
My first car have her for 28 years now and its still my dream car , nothing else feels the same , rebuilt from scrap with my dad and will hand off to my kids
Damn good video!!! And absolutely right! 10 years ago you seen them all the time. I have a 93 and you would swear im driving an exotic. The reactions i get are unbelievable! Now thats a vid in its self! I have a game i made up called "the head turn game" me and a buddy of mine will take bets on how many people will recognize the car to our destination. Its just unreal the attention these cars are getting.
Great video as always. Make me proud to own one. And you're right. You just don't see them, and when I so, whether a 4, 6, or 8 cyl, it always gets my attention and makes me smile.
Still have my 92 GT, had thoughts about selling it but never could bring myself to do it. In the next decade or two these cars will be extremely rare since most of them are being gutted out or rusted out or totaled. So if you still have your fox , keep her and take care of her because the value can only go up.
I had two 85 Mustang GT's, a 88 LX 5.0 and then picked up a 89 Saleen. Still have the Saleen, it's a keeper. Did the whole 5.0 thing in the 80's and 90's. Good times, fox bodies 5.0 rule the streets back then.
Love these videos man. Rebuilding my Fox and almost ready to crank it up. These vids have really pushed me to get it done. Thanks for the inspiration and entertainment.
I always come back to this one. For the past couple of summers, my grandfather has let me daily drive his '89. It's not fast- the engine hasn't been touched- but it's punchy. The 3.55 gears give it a real fun holeshot and the exhaust is nice and quiet- until you floor it and then it's a crack of thunder (stock headers, stock H-Pipe, but muffler delete). I work at a Dodge dealer, so I've driven 500hp Challengers and Chargers. They may be faster, but they aren't nearly as fun as that little 225HP (maybe 230 with the tiny little things done- air silencer removed, 65mm TB, I wouldn't be surprised if he bumped the timing but I haven't asked) 5.0. It's sturdy, too- I do need to put a radiator in it, and I think it's gonna need a clutch cable, but we've run the hell out of it for 94,000 miles and it's taken it real well. For that, plus the memories of childhood, Ford has never, and will never, build a better Mustang than the Fox in my eyes.
I wanted one of these so bad back in the day when they came out. One of the best Mustangs ever made in my opinion. I love the Fox Body design. Not a hole lot a hp compared to what we have today, but the 300 plus ft-lbs made them fun to drive from stoplight to stoplight back then! They are kinda hard to find now.
+markurbancowboy Sounds like you lived the "Fox-body experience" too brutha, lol.... if you didn't experience the Fox-body movement "back in the day" from the mid '80s and through the '90s than they just don't understand, lol. The Fox-Mustang was/is today's '32 Ford and '55 Chevy. I feel what you are saying buddy, I was crazy about these cars from first experiencing them in the mid '80s, to first purchasing my very 1st 5.0 Mustang in the early '90s and love them just as much now as I did then, lol. They are a very special car to us Gen-X gearheads! I have a very special place in my heart for the 3rd Gen Camaro/Firebird models as well, especially the 230hp G92 optioned 5.0 Tuned Port 5-speed IROC-Z and Formula models and 245hp 5.7 Tuned Port models. My two favorite cars, the 5.0 Fox-body and 3rd Gen F-body. Still fun stoplight to stoplight runners even by today's standards, just as long as it's a short run between stoplights, lol. Thanks for stopping in and sounding off Cowboy!
+nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town Oh yeah I lived it, wanted one real bad back then but didn't have the money. In my opinion they were the true muscle cars (price, power, weight, mod-ability ect). Also, the sound of that 302 5.0L in the GT or LX was intoxicating! You can hear one up the road and know exactly what it is before you even see it! Take care man!
Great Video John. It got me to thinking there is definitely a need and a market for a 40-60 minute video about the Fox Body Mustang. You could devote the first 10-15 minutes on the history of the car and then move in to how the car brought back the American muscle car and the effect of the aftermarket parts market and some examples of Fox muscle thrown in..........all reasonably priced, I think it would work. I think someone will one day soon!!!!
Man, that one you ended the video with looked exactly like the 89 LX 5.0 I had when I graduated from high school! Man I miss my Fox 'Stangs. Especially my 93 Cobra & my SVOs.
+ArcadeDude44 The 5.0 Mustang was the right car at the right time! I can't think 1980s without picturing a late '80s 5.0 Mustang and IROC-Z Camaro, lol. BTW, that is my '89 LX at the end, lol. I have a couple videos of it on my channel, and many other Fox-body Mustangs!
Sweet, I'll go check them out. Yeah, I'm a Ford guy from the start, but I also think of the Awesome IROC Zs, the GNs and the C4 Vettes, when I recollect on the late 80s. Awesome times...
I have 82 GT. I love this car. Its my favorite foxbody style. Hard as hell to find. Took 5 years to find one. Its my first fox and wont be my last. I am a foxbody fanatic.
I'm 17 and pour it into my 89 and 91, restoring the 91 currently I want an 87 notch on craigslist its 750 and if it doesn't get bought it's going to be crushed :'(
I’m 42 own superbikes ,had high end turbo wrx’s, Camaro ss’s , but honestly nothing puts a smile on my face than driving my 1993 lx convertible.I can drive all night listening to the 5.0 rumble in 5th at the sweet spot of 120km/h on the freeway.
Every time I watch this vid I get filled with nostalgia. Its been 7 months since I had to depart with my baby "Clarabelle", bought her junior year and that car really showed me what real cars are. I put all my money into it and dont regret it at all. 95 cobra 302, edelbrock performer rpm heads, svo roller rockers, f303 cam, bbk 70mm throttlebody, 24lbs inj's, gt40 tubular intake plenum, bbk pulleys, pro m mass airflow sensor, custom cold air intake, 4.10's in the ass, 5lug with full cobra brakes, bbk longtubes/O/R xpipe and off course the flowmaster american thunder cat back. That car was the meanest in the school! First time I cut her loose in 1st in 2nd I turned white as a ghost, it really scared me. Man the posi rear really fucking gets side ways fast.... I can't wait to own another fox! Oh yea she was an 89lx oxford white... Thanks nedac for making an awesome video of such an amazing car!
I bought it acting like I could just get into it and drive it.... no. I really had to get used to that stiff clutch, hard cammed idle shaking the shift knob, steering wheel and basically the whole car even with solid motor mounts. Respecting it in the rain and waking up the whole neighborhood in my way to school, god those were the best days of my life.
Joe Durham I love your comment "Respecting it in the rain". I have a 1990 GT and my good friends wife bought it brand new in 1989. She lost control of it in the rain one day and never drove it again. She didn't crash, but it must have scared her really bad. But her lost is my gain!!!!
Joe Durham Ha! Awesome comment. Well worded man. You inspire me, making me want to own one even more now than I already do. And funny to think that back then, in highschool I wasn't a fan at all, but now at 42 years of age I totally respect and admire these beauties. Cheers!
Christopher Walker (I'm posting this to you Chris because I'm 41 and you weren't a fan back then... YOU MISSED OUT!!!) I had a 5.0 in high school (88-92).
Cool video. I'm gettin' ready to sell my '06 GT I've had for almost 4 years now. Lots of mods and at about 400 hp. I've had 7 Fox Bodies and just picked up a '93 LX Hatch 4 banger that's gettin' ready to go under the knife now. Super clean and waitin' for the Coyote 5.0 to get swapped in. I have to say I love the 06 GT but I just miss havin' a fox. There's nothin' like it!
I own 2 fox's 93 gt. And a 90 lx. These videos take me back to when I first bought mine . Ritchie highway was owned by these cars . Glad to see someone else shares the passion for the fox
Fox Bodys are still super special cars. They may be slow by today's standards, but they are still really fun cars!! BTW I love this channel man. So nostalgic... It's cool to see how the street scene was back then.
WIth MOST of todays cars looking like AN EGG (for a purpose, MPG) the FOX body just looks plain and if its the FOX sedan/coupe well you have a exterior sleeper for sure. If no exterior changes are made like raised hood or bling bling stuff you will have a winner by default and SHOCK someone unsuspecting of that 5.0 (unless they notice those PIPES:)
I love my '91 GT 5spd, bought it many years ago and still have it to this day. Though it's missing the motor and transmission. I've got a 5.0 with GT40P heads, GT40 intake and a set of full length headers and a parts list the length of my arm and a rebuilt T5 with a Pro5.0 shifter, all waiting to be finished to go back into it. Thanks for the memories...
I can't remember the last time I saw a nice fox body. The few around my town are all ragged out, faded paint & filthy. Good to see there are still some nice ones out there.
+Iman Axbert Actually you are correct as most of this video footage was shot back in the '90s and early '00s lol.... although once in awhile you run across a really nice common GT or LX model, but most are stashed away in garages and only see beautiful 80-degree sunny days on Sunday lol. Chances of catching a glimpse of a '93 SVT Cobra, Saleen, SSP or other rare Fox is becoming an extremely rare sight, even at car shows.... unless you hit Mustang Week or Carlisle Events' Ford Nationals.
I feel so lucky right now! 2 weeks ago I stumbled upon 2 notchback mustangs, 88-92, across the street thats in good condition. Since it's at my friends I asked and decided to keep them myself and am now looking forward to restoring them and filling the fire in the gap of this century that lacks understanding the classic mustangs they used to have. Can't wait to drive it! :)
Drove an 81 with a 351, a 1986 GT with ported 68 heads and ported Cobra intake with MAC headers/Borla exhaust/Roller rockers/75mmTB, drove a 1981 Cobra with a 13:1 460ci big block with ported heads / cam / intake. Anytime, anyplace you thought your GM was faster, I was there to take your money or at least take your pride. Imagine being 20 years old and getting an 87 Grand National and going street racing with all your friends and I give you a three car start and you ended up seeing the ass end of the 351 before you got out of first gear. C4 with shift kit and B&M Trick Shift. The 460 was in another dimension with it's torque levels. Used an FMX to handle it. You wouldn't expect to get spanked by an 18 year old, so if was fun.
Sweet vid man. Brought back a lot of memories. I really needed this. I've got a retired 5.0lx that's been sitting in storage exile for the past few years now..... patiently awaiting it's day of redemption and return to glory. The time is near....
I love all cars especially the 60’s and could have bought one but these cars have a special place in my heart. At 44 now and being 17 when my 91 Notchback back out I’m very proud to own one.Watching these cars own back in the good old days of illegal street drags was one of the best times of my life.Took me 8 years and 4 mustangs to finally find my mint low mile notch.Absolutley love your videos man!!! Bring back so many great memories!!!!!
Trust me I’ve watched them all several times and continue to do so,you have the best videos.Even love the old style of all your videos that makes it the best. Thanks for that!!
Nasty Notch Fiveoh much of the footage was shot back in the '90s and even have some footage going back to late '80s. I was the weirdo that always brought a video camera out on saturday night lol
+nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town of course! It's just really cool because well I'm 17 and all my friends have these new cars and just to have a classic is great.
Yes I really crazy about these cars... along with 3rd Gen Camaro/Firebird models, and LT1 and LS1 powered 4th Gens too as well as SN95 Mustang Cobras, New Edge Cobras and a few others, lol..... hell I love them all, lol. I love V8-Ponycars and just about any and all American Iron.
ItsEdgarM10 The Tuned Port Injected and L69 H.O model 3rd Gen Camaro/Firebird will always share the same special place in my heart right beside the 5.0 Fox-body Mustang. I've owned twelve 3rd Gen models since buying my first '87 Firebird Formula back in 1992, then I bought a 5.0 Mustang the following year, then went back to a L69 H.O Camaro (actually owned three L69 cars) then my first TPI car, then back to a few 5.0 Mustangs, and back and fourth through the '90s, trying to choose between a 3rd Gen F-body and 5.0 Fox Mustang is like trying to pick which of my kids I love more, lol, I always say, lol.
I feel old, 79-93 was literally my school years all the way up to 1995 when I graduated college. You saw these mustangs EVERYWHERE. Now the ones you see are so beat up, you hardly every see a nice one.
Its nice that you can find tons of used parts for these along with new parts from sites like americanmuscle and late model restoration. So far I haven't had any issues finding stuff for my 1990 GT Convertible.
One thing is for sure. Nobody's on the fence about a fox body. You either love them or hate them. They are a handfull to drive and seem to be constantly trying to kill you, but i just love it.
I lucked out ,I bought mine from a Dr. who started making more money in his practice and bought the new 5.0 I got a 90 gt with a 1000 mile 347 stroker with afr185 heads x 303 cam ,trick flow intake msd ignition and all forged internal, and a unused zex wet kit in the box ready to hook up and a 373 rear end for 7000. I put a rebuilt t5z with a few tweaks to enhance the strength for 1000 bucks extra . I cant find much else out there that can keep up with me for 8000 dollars.
I bought an '86 LX with the GT options fresh off the truck back then. The only option was the rear window defroster, lol. I pulled the 5.0 emblems off and raced everything I could on the streets around suburban Chicagoland. I would practice out in Busse woods by going as early in the morning as I could, drive all the way in and back out again... if I didn't see anyone in there, I knew I had the track all to myself.
I had a 86 5.0 and loved it. Just put a flowmaster exhaust a MSD ignition a after market air filter and had chrome ponys. Man I loved that car. I'm looking for one again now that my kids are older and I really just want one again. I would like to get between a 88 to 90 Fox Body notch back.
nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town 86 GT is awesome and I loved mine and I wish I kept it. Been a Mustang guy since high school but I really didn't like the 94 body style. I did not like it at all. I like the newer style but not the 16 or 17 Stangs. I don't know it just seems Europeanish to me. I will always like the Fox Body stangs or even the Fox Body Capri if you can find em.
Can't wait for canadian winters to be over , 88Lx Dech motorsports edition with 331 forged procharged mmm I forget about it all driving with window down love it
I bought an RX8 while i was in the military for like 25k when said and done with payments. I love the car still have it, and lucked out on the engine....a part of me always kicks myself in the ass because i grew up working on these things with my buddies and running them. I dont know why i didnt use all of that money and build myself my dream 5.0 or try to find my 93 Cobra!
these cars are great a simple explorer head intake swap with a cam with a decent gear ratio would kill in combination with their weight. Not a lot of cars that could keep up for dollar to dollar bang for the buck.
Awesome video. Plus... it's always good to see some stang on stang violence! I think it's safe to say that this gen of mustang started an EFI performance revolution. I don't think the LS1 would even exist if it wasn't for the Windsor SBF.
After watching this, I'm even more proud to have my 91" GT that I never get tired of. Foxbodys are awesome I don't care what anyone says!
Yup
Great job.
Great video guys! Glad to see some shared passion of the Fox Body!!
So you were spoiled. Got it
Fox Body Mustang Generation X's muscle car Millennials' hot rod. All these cars have become the hot rods of my generation since they are cheap and have plenty of torque.
thank you very much for this trip down memory lane,im in my late 30's{37} and have been building fox bodies since the early 90's......these cars have not just been a hobby, theyve become a lifestyle for me--and all the great friends ive met over the years through the passion for these cars cannot be replaced, for any dollar amount--when im dead and buried I hope-sincerely hope there are younger people finding the passion for the mustang as we have
p.s I still have my 93 I bought while in college--and now itll be running 7's hopefully on drag radials with the new twin turbo motor and 25.3 spec cage
I have a 2008 m3 I'm 40. I had a few foxbody mustangs back in the day...and still the m3 wasnt enough i wanted a fox and bought one . I'm a very happy man.😊
This is awesome. I am restoring my 92 5.0 LX hatch now. Found it after I sold it 11 years ago. Won't sell it ever again that's for sure.
That's so cool that you found your LX
I just bought a 92 LX hatch 5.0. I lost my 88 LX in a crash. I'm a LX Hatch guy. Nothing against GT's or Notches. I just like the looks of the LXH.
Wow!!! Those Foxes have aged so well. The sound of the 5.0L Fox is unforgettable. Sounds as good as Led Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven coming out of an exhaust pipe!!!!
Wanted the sound of a HARLEY, and I got better FOX BODY 5.0 NOTHING ELSE MATTERS!
The only other models that recieved that type of attention were the '30s Ford and '50s Chevy.
+nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town damn, you got me tears!
That was life for us too.. i remember racing a regal, 350 maro 305 maro vette 78 all sorts of shit.. after I was 6 cars ahead I think thry gave up...
Wait, was that an Agent Orange lyric?
@@JRC99 I think it was!!! Lol. I was a big Agent Orange fan in the '80s.
This video really did inspire me to purchase my very first manual car at 19 years old.. a '91 Red Mustang GT Hatch. Took some time to learn how to drive on my own, but now that I can drive it it's a dream come true.
So much nostalgia viewing this old video, have 1990 gt love my car never going to sale
this video gives me life, just bought a '90 lx 5.0 hatch, white paint, love her so much, cant wait for summer
I have the feeling it's going to be a good summer lol.
There is just something about a Foxbody. I have 2 now a 93 coupe and 91 Gt. I bought my first one in 1997 it was a 88 Gt. Over the years I have had at least 20 of them. They are just a blast to drive and work on.
ford should start building these again best looking best sounding mustangs ever
Leave the classics classic..... or they wouldn't be classic lol.
@@nedaCFilms I think they should reissue a years production as a anniversary, same with 60s and 70s mustang
They're ugly little shitboxes that sound like mechanical ass.
This is of course entirely subjective.
Hey they remade the older one they should make a new version of the foxbody with some of that new engine technology with huge amounts of horse power and torque
And fuck up the classic stangs like they did with the 05? Please make a mustang 2 or something as you cabt make me hate them any more.
I have 5 notchbacks and 3 hatchbacks and still can't get enough! I'm 49 and really miss the 80's when everyone hung out and had fun all weekend long with their Foxes.
Wow.! That's a lot of mustangs...I thought I was crazy having a bmw m3 and a Mustang.
I wish Ford would remake a notch, I love notch backs
Just a little tribute to the car... and the past, present and future Foxbody Mustang freaks out there.
im 15 and just got my first car its a 1991 mustang lx coupe with an aod and a 5.0. its a project but man is it sure fun to drive
Swap a 5-speed in it for even more fun... as well as free up a few hp with less parasitic drag.
nah i'll just end up burning the clutches up all the time haha and this is going to be a street strip car and i may do a little bracket racing so i want an auto for consistency too
sweg biggums As a mustang owner, get rid of that AOD. You'll gain what feels like 50hp ditching that turd.
Yeah, the 5-speed models are absolutely more fun to drive and don't loose as much hp through the drivetrain due to parasitic drag.
What a great car! I had an '89 GT. Only once did that car let me down in a way that I could not fix it on the side of the road, (in tank fuel pump). Put 336,000 miles on it.
Thats a Lot of miles bro!
Awesome video! Anyone remember the "Valley 5.0" group from WFC I , II & III? We were a bunch of 18-19 year old kids that took our fox body cars half way across the country to watch a race! It was like the woodstock of our generation.
A decade later. It's all even more true now.
This video is great! I have had 6 fox bodies, and have a 25 year mustang tatoo on my arm. I can't get over these cars lol
Got my first car a little over a yer ago and at 17 years old this thing is a blast from the past. She is a bright red 1991 lx 5.0. Best choice I ever made was giving this car the nod. I swear I'll never get rid of this car! Long live the fox!
+xPTNxProductions Cool first car to own! Congrats and enjoy it! Nice examples are becoming hard to come by as well so hang onto it lol.
+xPTNxProductions ........that's what we all say then 1 day you have a pile of cash and watching tail lights...
+AwakeDude911 no don't say that! I can't even fathom getting rid of it
When i was 16, One Hot summer night in june, I was with my father at a street light.
+Matthieu Gagnon Thanks for sharing your story bud!
I started HS in 1986 and bought my first 5.0 Mustang in 1993 as well, it was good times lol.
Our 1st muscle car, challenger is the current one to own.
I love what Dodge is doing with the Challenger! The Dodge Challenger is one of the original #V8ponycars along with Camaro, Mustang, 'Cuda and Javelin that raced in the historic SCCA Trans am series!
Don't forget the Capri, the good-looking Foxbody. I've got one now (my first car was an 85 Mustang LX), and it's a blast to drive.
The sound a 3rd gen makes is iconic . The new 5.0 sound like a import tuner
Love it! Miss these cars with original 5.0s.. those were the good ol days.
That’s too cool 😎
Best foxbody video ive seen yet.
Yes, 300lb-ft of torque in a 3,000lb car is fun.
I bought a new one in 1989, finally let it go in 2009. Even have a few old videos on my UA-cam channel. Great video thanks for the memories!
91 fox here, but a 2.3l big turbo. nothing but love foxbody community. Such great people that offer so much help and info
+nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town
Oh yeah I lived it, wanted one real bad back then but didn't have the money.
I think someone will one day soon!!!!
took out my 92 black GT for a workout yesterday ate a porsche for lunch 5.0's will always be cool
I am a foxbody fanatic.
im 19 and this video is exactly why i pour blood sweat and tears into my 82 5.0 coupe
AronaathWoW Damn an 82 coup 5.0! Thats a rare a sweet car bro! Nice!
Had an 82 myself back in the day, mid 80's. Bad little ride it was,....still miss it!
We like the passion
Joe Durham Why did you let her go?
Man I remember my dad taken me around in his fox body 5.0 In the early 90s. now I have a 14 5.0 and I get to take my son around :)
That is awesome man, lol.
Thanks!
Still my dream car. Just want one or two or four or five to tune up and add some modern day umph to it. Man they got such a great look
Great video dude. I miss my new 1989 I sold in 1991 Wow what a cool car.
Ever think of finding one similar to your '89 model from back in the day to pamper in your garage? Now is the time to grab them up!
Very cool vid! This is one of my dream cars, I just like the way it looks. Plus a friend of mine had one before he moved, good times.
Great video I just got mine 1993!! Love it
Love these cars man I got an 88 gt ,a 91 gt convertible nd an 88 lx nice to see guys crazy about the foxbodies as I am
I watch this video every day
Damn I love that sound. Nothin sounds like a fox.
Good ol days..true hip hop and 5.0's. i got a 86..i had since 93. time to dig it out
5.0's yes....hip hop no! Rock 'n Roll!!!
As soon as I saw the mustang Lx hatch I had to have one I love mine I know a lot of people like the Lx coupe but hatches are my favorite!!
2:36 Beautiful fox
Aberamentho2010 That is great man... I hope this video inspired you some! Don't ever sell it man, you will be sick about it for years.
Thanks bud! I have many vintage 5.0 Mustang videos on here...enjoy lol.
Trust me I’ve watched them all several times and continue to do so,you have the best videos.Even love the old style of all your videos that makes it the best. Thanks for that!!
Nasty Notch Fiveoh much of the footage was shot back in the '90s and even have some footage going back to late '80s. I was the weirdo that always brought a video camera out on saturday night lol
nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town I think it’s cool not weird I wish I did that back in the day.I would had some amazing videos.Cool
Stuff man.
3:06 love that angle of the GT. I have a 1990.
mikecodester the black GT at 3:06 is a '90 too lol
I hear ya
So fortunate that my father hand me down his 1991 5.0 Gt Mustang convertible and ever since he gave it to me I fell in love with it.
+byy ReWorkz Wow that's great! Take good care of it man, the nice ones are getting hard to find for decent prices.
+nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town of course! It's just really cool because well I'm 17 and all my friends have these new cars and just to have a classic is great.
Loved this
video bro
Nedac is obsessed with these cars so am I!
Yes I really crazy about these cars... along with 3rd Gen Camaro/Firebird models, and LT1 and LS1 powered 4th Gens too as well as SN95 Mustang Cobras, New Edge Cobras and a few others, lol..... hell I love them all, lol. I love V8-Ponycars and just about any and all American Iron.
nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town we got a 3rd gen camaro I love it 😍
ItsEdgarM10 The Tuned Port Injected and L69 H.O model 3rd Gen Camaro/Firebird will always share the same special place in my heart right beside the 5.0 Fox-body Mustang.
Well...mine will be on the road this season in the NE...heheh...I'm determined to make it happen.
Jeff Froment 1986 GT will always be my favorite!
nedaCFilms / Mustang-Town 86 GT is awesome and I loved mine and I wish I kept it.
Jeff Froment Oh I love the 5.0 Mercs!!! Man if I could get my hands on a 1986 Capri I would be in #Foxbody heaven lol.
I agree 100% this is the generation that's coming around now
Can't wait for canadian winters to be over , 88Lx Dech motorsports edition with 331 forged procharged mmm I forget about it all driving with window down love it
im a foxbody lover from the start. Denver I first seen my first 5.0 in 85 . to 5.0 is the only muscle car.
I love the foxbodys. I have a 91 GT that is my daily driver. Very fun to drive and they just look stunning
Awesome video. I have a 91 lx hatchback 302 and I love it
I bought a 1982 mint capri with a killer motor..sold the mustang..still loving these cars.
still have the capri , bought a 1992 convertible mustang : )
I bought an RX8 while i was in the military for like 25k when said and done with payments. I love the car still have it, and lucked out on the engine....a part of me always kicks myself in the ass because i grew up working on these things with my buddies and running them. I dont know why i didnt use all of that money and build myself my dream 5.0 or try to find my 93 Cobra!
This is a great video!
My favorite was always the notch back lx.
Good video man.
Thanks that was very nice. back one year later...…. LOL giving me Orlando International Drive flash backs.....
Thanks for watching!
these cars are great a simple explorer head intake swap with a cam with a decent gear ratio would kill in combination with their weight.
