I ran the GT-40 top end package with an E cam and 1.72 rockers for years. 24 lb injectors, 77mm pro-m…etc… With long tubes it was a great combo. Heads were ported and polished. Lower intake was port matched. 4.10s and my 2.95 t-5 car ran hard.

@@BRob1320 ran consistent mid 1.6’s. Best ever was a 1.59 or so. I actually tried the x-cam at first but it needed more compression. I went several tenths faster when I swapped it out and went back to the Ecam. I was only @ 9.4:1. X cam liked compression and or boost. Most of us were using the alphabet cams. The e- just worked best with my combo.
Just got first Fox body today. 89 Gt 5.0 auto. But was told the Vin was messed up from the factory. Comes up as a cobra when the previous owner titled it. I plan on a manual swap in the future after putting it back together. Got it dirt cheap to. Love your guys content. Keep it up.

Yeah really...autos have their place too...in 7 and 8 second cars. On the street, in a fun little cruiser the only reason for an auto is missing limbs and sheer laziness. My brother's factory aod 88 gt went 15.1 and after the t5 swap went 14.1 and 14.0s. Massive difference, plus waaaay more fun to drive.
I had 4.11 gears in my 89 GT stock explorer engine and Aod definitely woke it it up. Same engine was in another car I had 1991 vert 3.55 gears and it was a dog. Also My antenna cable pulled out of the base of antenna. No reception.
Yeah, you could easily fix the smooth shifting by installing a B&M shift kit (pick your favorite brand for that), but a converter would really help out the performance of the AOD. If you're really keen, you could swap the AOD for a 4R70W which is an awesome automatic transmission and fully computerized, but fully programmable.
That hairstyle looked good on you!!! Intake looks amazing and I'll copycat the others and agree with shiftkit and torque converter. It woke up my c4 in my high-school ride back in the day. You know all this but..... get it done!😊
Bad ass man! I am in the process right now on doing a old school set up on my 88 lx 5.0 5speed vert stock bottom end speed density car.. I found a nice EGR gt40 explorer upper lower intake; now just need the other bits ie gt40 3 bar or 4 bar heads, throttle body, rockers, springs. I plan on running the stock cam in the car.. Would you run with a 1.6 or 1.7 rr? and do you think upgrading stock injectors and fuel pump is really necessary with such a mild set up? I appreciate it and enjoy your channel and vids!! respect from Maryland...

What gears are you running? My 93 with an AOD, non-HO 5.0 and 3.73 gears would spin the tires.
Put a 2800rpm stall or a 3:73 rear gear with b&m shift kit, be only way you can wake that combo up for what it is.
Started cammin again cause the computer is learning itself again 😂
4.10's in an AOD with a full GT40 set up, will also completely change the way it will respond! It's crazy how much of a difference it will make
My stick shift has 300hp but feels like 400hp (to me lol) with the 5 speed manual. I don't think I could ever do auto unless I was making stupid power

With aftermarket what it is the gt 40 stuff is kinda pointless.
Its not pointless at all it makes a huge difference over stock and is a huge amount cheaper than aftermarket stuff.
Would you like a converter and an aod hold valve body 🤔 I don't need it .....bought it went tkx ....let me know for pops car free.
