I am a beginner, and have watched 10 videos on the moss stitch. This is the only one that 'clicked' for me. I've just completed a simple dishcloth thanks to you!
I learned to crochet 6 weeks ago and I LOVE your tutorials. You’ve helped me through lockdown more than I can tell you. Being disabled, this is a new hobby that I’ll keep up. Thank you so much xx
I'm a crochet beginner and I can't begin to tell you how many other tutorials I find, and then always come back to you! You're so clear and make things so easy to understand. Thank you for all you do ❤
I’ve made a couple of blankets in this st. It’s great with 3 different colours, dropping each at the end of a row and picking up the next, carry them up the side when not in use. Try with James Brett chunky, as it changes colour gradually so you get a lovely interplay of slowing changing colours. Any slowly changing colours are fun.
Love this video! You are super clear in showing exactly which stitch to work at beginning and end of rows, which is always a big challenge for beginners. Thank you!
Don't know why I waited so long to try the Moss stitch. I love the simplicity of the stitch and it provides it's own border. A lot of thought goes into what stitch I use from color of yarn I'm using, who I'm making it for, how big it will be. Love it and it works up pretty quick. I'm using royal blue and yellow for a blanket going to a college freshman. Will be using this stitch again.
I have to thank you so much for this video! Every time I need to learn a new stitch I always search for your videos! I had seen a couple tutorials for this stitch and I just couldn’t see exactly where I was supposed to be putting my hook, even though I’ve been crocheting for years. This is the first tutorial that made perfect sense. I should have come here first as usual! You are doing such a service to the crochet community with your wonderful tutorials.
SO CUTE! I've been wondering what I should make for a baby blanket for a expecting friend, yet now I finally found something! Thank you for your videos being so easy to follow.
Hunting around for a different pattern for a scarf. Although im an intermediate crocheter I love easy patterns for a quick project. Thank you for sharing. Your instructions are very clear and easy to follow. Virginia USA
Thank you for this video. I have watched 5 other vids in my attempts to get this stitch right but I could not figure it out. Your video is the clearest and simplest explanation I have seen so far. Your close ups of the yarn are extremely helpful.
I have watched your other tutorials but went away for a while because I've been busy with work 😞and since coming back to crocheting, I've lost confidence in what I can do. However, I've just watched this one and hopefully this will spur me on to retry the other designs I've learnt through your tutorials before because you make it easy to follow and understand. Thank you!
I will have to try this stitch. I have the basic stitches down and am ready to try something new. I like the look of the moss stitch. Cant wait to pick out some new yarn and give it a try.
Wow! Just found your channel and love your tutorial. Hope you have more tutorials for beginners. Very detailed and not rushed. This is just what I needed to succeed in crocheting. Tried another channel and gave up halfway. Thank you for your clear and relaxed tutorial.
Wow you've explained this soo well! Every other tutorial has turned my brain to mush! Thank you soooo much can't wait to see the rest of you're tutorials 😘😘
I have no problem doing basic stitches but sometimes even for easy tutorials I make errors as I have a disability which can affect me finding the correct stitches. Brilliant tutorial managed a new stitch fine. Will be using your posts for future projects
I love the videos. I am new to crocheting and I was looking for someone who could explain how to crochet the different stitches. I found you and I love how you explain everything and how you tell us when to pause the video. I really enjoy all the stitches. Keep up the amazing work.
I am loving this stitch, it's so easy which is very me , i don't do complicated lol ! I am using veregated yarn from good old Poundland to make a scarf .Thankyou so much for this tutorial xx
Perfect video for learning the moss stitch. I tried watching a different video before this and was like wtf? They made it so complicated. This was great. Also, I love your scissors ✂️
This is a stitch I am wanting to learn. I started working on it this evening. I have been doing Sc, hdc for a while now. I love how you can change the look of a simple stitch with one chain and it looks like you spent hours on the project. I might have to go back a row on mine i think I started in the wrong spot on the second row.
Just found your channel and I love it! I really like that you point out the US differences, that you pause before each turn so we can work at our own pace without missing anything and lastly, I love your voice. It is so relaxing and I don't feel rushed or feel like I have to be such a perfectionist. I just have such a good time learning from you! Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas? Thank You!
Started crocheting just by following youtube tutorials on making things, But I wanted to create my own pieces so I flipped through a stitch dictionary and realised I have no clue what the pattern is telling me, so I went to the very beginning of the dictionary and the first one is the moss stitch, I have no clue how to differentiate where a chain 1 space is, so this video helped me alot in following and understanding what the pattern is telling me. thank you ^^
this stich will be the death of me. I am struggling so much with this stich. I love your videos and this is by far the best tutorial I've watched on this stitch. I WILL MASTER IT SOON.
I think you are great on doing your'e tutorial. I could never understand how to read patterns. But with you I have been able to and really enjoy crochet .I Loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it Thank you so much please keep doing it Ms. Fantasic
your tutorial is so easy to follow. Thank you for such an easy way to follow along. The pausing of the video, helps me to catch up and make sure I did it ok. Thanks! Leslie Todd
I watched your tutorial, then watched it again while writing down the instructions. Sounds good yes? well I went wrong and ended up using the HDC instead of the DC but what a lovely mistake. LOL Don't know if that is a stitch or not but I'm adding it to my swatch book. It has a zig-zag effect and isn't so tight. Love your tutorials.
Thank you so much for your videos. Your voice is very soothing and you go slow enough for me to understand. I'm starting my 4th blanket now using the linen stitch. If you know how to crochet a granny square skull, please let me know. I only need it for one of the squares. Thanks again.
Thanks for the tutorial. I am using this stitch to make a blanket, love how simple and calming it is! What other stitches are similar in ‘difficulty’? X
You have taught me so much and I'm so grateful for your channel so Thank you for that! I was wondering if you could do a video with your version of the cupcake stitch aka the sultan stitch?
I can usually follow along pretty well with all your tutorials, and I love that you explain the US and UK terms for each stitch used.. but For this stitch, I had to chain 2 to start each row. I tried just chaining 1 to turn and start, but my project, a lengthwise rectangle, kept getting bigger and smaller as I went along the length of the project..
Thank you for this vid, my grandson has asked for a blanket, just made his sister one, in lazy wave ripple afghan, but wanted one more for a teenage male. he wants Navy with Red border, think this will be perfect.
Very clear explanation, especially the third row. Most instructions call for skipping to the fourth stitch on the first row after the chain, but they never say why. I've been having trouble knowing how to find those holes I'm to stick the hook into as in my swatch there really aren't holes. You don't do it. I had someone at our knitting and crochet group ask me why you would need to do that. So one corner has a bigger hole?
Thank you 😊 Normally when we skip chains in the beginning it’s to bring us up to the right height to make our first stitch. Sometimes with crochet differences in patterns like you describe come down to personal preference and neither way is necessarily right or wrong. It’s really common to have trouble finding the chain spaces in this stitch when you first make it; you can use stitch makers to help you by looping them through the chain spaces in the beginning so it’s easier to see 😊
I love the moss stitch and your video was the best tutorial by far! Normally I'm not bothered about thr number of stitches so long as it's an even one however I have a pattern that requires 300 stitches. How many should I chain please? I'm sure you end up with half the amount of stitches plus 1 but that obviously isn't counting chain spaces?! If I count the chain spaces as a stitch it would be 300 "stitches" wide would it not?! Thank you x
Great tutorial as always! I have one suggestion though. I think it would be helpful to make one row of sc into the chain, and then start the pattern. Starting the pattern into the chain, and leaving every other chain empty, doesn't give a very clean finish. A border of course would be helpful, but I don't always border my pieces. Some patterns to me look nicer without a border, and this is one of them.
Thank you 😊 Yes I have seen this done with other patterns too and I think it comes down to personal preference - there is certainly no reason why you can’t begin with a row of sc into the chain if that’s how you prefer to work.
I did it just could not get it I done few rows in white then couple in burgundy it looks 👌 I did find the chunky yarn help and you been on here for hours thank you

Just a tip...when learning a new stitch definantely start with a solid color of yarn so you can really see what your doing.

What's the best yarn to use for a Moss Stitch and hook?
@@thelmastevenson9510 You can use any yarn with the suggested hook size.

Thankyou - such a clear tutorial for the linen stitch which I have never done before - going to try it in blanket 😉🌟
Thank you for the tutorial, the end result is very pretty can't wait to try it out on some new chunky work this coming fall
Very clear explanation, especially the third row.
Most instructions call for skipping to the fourth stitch on the first row after the chain, but they never say why.
