    I confess to being confused with the number of stitches as at one stage you said you had '26 stitches'. It was in fact 27 trebles plus the turn = 28 stitches. I managed to finish the pattern successfully at last!! Thank you for this lovely pattern.

    Thank you so much for this video, I am loving the waffle stitch in a baby blanket. And to all the people complaining the pattern is repeating on 3 stitches, the plus 4 is the 2 stitches on the start of the piece you are crocheting and then at the end you have another 2 stitches. So it does work out with no problems.

    • @jadix850
      @jadix850 4 роки тому

      I'm having a problem with that part. She chained 28 total. I did exactly as she did but then she counts up 26 stitches in foundation and I'm getting 27-28. I've gone on to rows 2 and 3 but then I'm not ending on the same count she does. Where am I messing up?

    Bella Coco has been a staple in my crochet journey over the years. The way she repeats yarn over pull through yarn over pull through 2 etc really helps because it becomes a mantra and allows me to continue with the video without having to look at what she’s doing cause I’m repeating yarn over pull through etc x

    • @NitMit_Crafts

      I do the exact same thing!! 😂
      I am continuously mumbling yarn over, insert, yarn over pull through, year over pull through 2 etc... It's like chanting. 😅

    My grandma taught me how to crochet a simple continuous circle, and she wanted to teach me more, but I was not very receptive as a young child. Soon after this, she developed Alzheimer's and was unable to teach me. When lockdowns started, I was living in her house, without her, only with her memory. I remember coming to this channel at 1 or 2 in the morning to learn a new stitch and to try to spend some time with her.
    I've been quite busy the past couple months and haven't had much time to crochet, but I am so glad to have a afternoon today so I can take a deep breath and come back here, where things are a bit slower, and I can crochet a dishcloth rather than going out to buy a sponge. So thank you for this bit of peace and thanks for a connection to my grandma ❤️

I also count my chains on my foundation ch 2x & it's always the right amount. Do I need to dc into the 3rd ch in order to get 26? Bc I would skipping 2 chains.

    FRONT-POST, DOUBLE-CROCHET
    European: front-post, treble-crochet

    • @bellacococrochet
      @bellacococrochet  4 роки тому

      To make a front post treble you insert your hook from the front, round the back, and to the front again as shown in the video. It's called a front post treble because it pushes the stitch to the front of the work 😊 A back post treble (or double) means inserting your hook from the back, round the front, and to the back again, and pushes the stitch to the back of the work.

    chain in multiples of 3 then add 4. Then dc's starting from second chain from hook! This will leave us with 3 extea stitches from the original multiples of 3. But you say we will have 2 extra stitches from the starting multiples? I see in the comments many others confused re. this.

      The reason there are 4 extra stitches: one for the chain skipped at the first turn, one for the waffle pattern first ridge (technically the pattern is a repeat of 3 plus one for the extra ridge that you begin with), and then the two extra stitches that frame the waffle pattern on each side.

    I need clarification, you said you chain in multiple of 3 and then you add 4 and then double crochet in the 2nd chain from the hook and every stitch across and then you should end with the original number of your chain plus 2 stitches, however that could only be possible if you started your double crochets in the 4th chain from the hook....I even paused your video and counted your double crochets and you did not end up with 26 you ended up with 28, you should correct your video.

    • @kristinpc5738
      @kristinpc5738 8 років тому +4

      +Heather Burleson I'm also having the same issue. I've tried this like 5 times on just a sample size project and I never end up with 2 more stitches than my multiple of three. If I follow the video I end up with my multiple of 3 plus FOUR additional stitches (including the little false stitch for my chain up). Something is off and I'm afraid to start a larger project because I want to be sure my waffle pattern lines up correctly.

    Why do you only chain one at the end of each row instead of two? Most patterns tell you to chain one for single crochet and chain 2 for double crochet.

    Your tutorials are always so easy to follow. You seem to always know just when we can carry on. Thank you! I have made the granny square blanket using five rows of black around each colored square. I used five colors that were vibrant and set off the black. I also finished your increase/decrease blanket with yarn I had around. So fun to be able to crochet without having to use a written pattern constantly!!

    i am totally confused! at the begining of this tutorial you advise chain in multiples of 3 then add 4 you chain 24 then add 4 more giving you 28 then a just a wee bit later on you say you chain 24 and add a further 2 giving you 26. I am not sure which it is. I am new to crochet. Can you advise please?

      Flora, remember when she started her first treble she skipped 2 stitches at 3.26 minutes into the video. So she started with 28 skipped 2 stitches at the very start of the treble pattern leaving 26 stitches.

      When starting you dc in second st from hook, then when you ch 1 and turn you do a dc in first dc before you start the three St pattern, then at the end you have a dc in the very last St after the pattern sts...those are your 4 extra sts.
