- If you have a Macbook Pro and the image on your screen is warping / freezing and / or sporadically flashing wierd checkered patterns and lines (and locking up your computer), this fix may be for you! It could be the GPU (which has been a known issue with many Macbook Pros from the time).

It actually worked! Thanks a lot!
thanks!
My Late 2006 MacBook Pro has a box of grey lines around the cursor and only boots with hardware acceleration disabled. Do you think this repair will work for my computer?
I just started to get the checkerboard screen, it went away after it cooled off, but if it happens frequently I’m going to try this method, thanks. If It doesn’t work i can always buy a used logic board on eBay for about 100$. If I did should I do the same to it before I install it?
Ok worked for me =) Thank you man!
Congrats! Sorry I didn't get back to you but sounds like you got the temp right ;)
alright, im thinking about doing this on my macbook...
BUT! i need to know this so i dont accidently make burnt apple pie, is the tempreture in farenheit or celcius?
Please respond ASAP.
Farenheit!
You was able to install an unsupported os? I have 10.7.5 Lion, is it possible to upgrade the system?
Just one thing: Don't use that much thermal compound! It's supposed to only fill in any scratches or tiny dents between the chip and the heatsink. The compound itself is not that good of a heat conductor, and the objective is to have just enough of it and for sure not too much. The pressure of the heatsink on the chip will push 98% of what you applied to the sides, where it can get into contact with those tiny capacitors and short-circuit them. Silver thermal compound is not just heat conductive but also electrically conductive. Just apply a small dot (size of a rice grain) in the middle of the chip, and spread it over the core with a credit card or something. More than enough,
Good advice! ...Since that video, I have come to realize ultimately an upgrade was best (I'd gotten a new macbook pro), but, this bandaid really bought me time!
I think the only reason I used so much is that I'd read on messageboards that the production in malaysia didn't use enough when producing this model - something like that), and that's why I used so much. Thanks for your input though. I actually had to do this process twice - once again about 6 months after this video!
IT WORKED!!! omg haha awesome!
Glad it worked for you! I actually had to do it once again (about 2mos ago) and I used this video as a guide and its workigng just fine!
Just got a 17’ for $30 on eBay. Apparently has this flickering issue. Gonna go ahead with this fix. How has the computer held up for you?
Sorry to get back so late... Honestly, it happened again eventually and I upgraded to a new machine in 2017!
Why can't you make this video with normal speed?
I will try it tomorrow on my A1211. Only a question: 375°C or 375°F?
Farenheit!
Sorry to get back to you SOOO late, but, Farenheit
it is extremely risky anyways ..... great for DIYers
I have the same macbook pro 2006 and I have the same problem. I am from Italy and I don't speak English very well😂 but it is not important. 375 farenite are 190 degrees? Can we talk about this problem that I have somewhere else? Like for example Facebook, Instagram, messager? Because so I will explain my problem that seems to be the same as yours and tell me what to do, thanks for the reply
set the oven to 375* Fahrenheit, and if you have an oven that does celcius, I know there is an online converter to figure out the proper temp in Farenheit. Sorry you have this problem, too.. But yeah, basically, you can figure out how to do it with just the visuals for the most part!
I set the oven at 190 degrees, not fharenheit, righ?
@@Gouldeyecandy it works perfectly, wawwwwww, thank you very much for your video tutorial, great video, very well
