- Dave Mustaine nos dejo grabarlo mostrandonos como el toca los riffs de "Symphony of Destruction". Siempre toca aprender de los mejores!
Dave Mustaine let us record him showing us how to play the main riffs in "Symphony of Destruction". Always learn from the best!

To answer a few questions here:
- We’re on our phones recording cause he asked us if we wanted to record him teaching the riffs, and why not also keep such cool memory for posterity or maybe, idk.. viewers like you?
- yes, Megadeth tunes down a whole step nowadays
- Video quality? Dirty lens unfortunately 🤷🏼♂️
-Why this song and not something else? We were scheduled to play this song with him out of many other songs on the list, so he went ahead and… well, showed us how he plays this song and not a different one...🤔
-no pajamas, the man was wearing jeans
Thanks for stopping by to watch
Tremenda anécdota y que afortunado, muchas gracias por subir el vídeo, saludos desde Bogotá Colombia 🤘🏻
Thank you!!
Yeah if you tune down it allows you to use thicker strings if you want, perhaps going for the full Stevie Ray Vaughan gauge 12s or whatever. Get a nice metallic thunk in there. Not sure whether I'd take that gauge on lead, but the rhythm player could do it, sound like a fucking steamroller.
@@ibuprofen303 i got james Hetfield's strings and literally you have to play D# or my guitar would snap they big bois
I believe that, no matter how much recognition Dave Mustaine gets, he'll always be incredibly underrated as a guitarist.
EVH (RIP) BUT HE AIN'T GOT NOTHING ON DAVE MUSTAINE KIRK TOO!! CAN'T COMPARE THERE'S ONLY ONE GUY BETTER THAN ALL OF THEM AND THAT'S JOE SATRIANI THERE'S YOUR GENIUS AND CAN'T FORGET TO MENTION YNGWIE MALMSTEEN WHOSE ON HIS OWN PLANET ENTIRELY
REMEMBER DAVE IS RHYTHM AND LEAD THAT'S HIS DEXTERITY
@@johndoe480 it isn't about the list just chill and listen to what you like without going around telling everyone whose better than who.
Always To much focus on Metallica that became over rated band that lost there spark $$ over music and fans.
@@daviddoyle8956 metallica released their last good album more than 30 years ago.
still living off their first decade... the more i think about it (and i did it a lot in the last 30 years) the more i see them as a joke.
Glad to see him doing well after the recent health issues. F'ing legend.
Best thing to happen to him was James Hetfield's ratfuckery

@@godslayer1415 wait huh

YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN HIM PLAYING JIMMY HENDRIX ON THAT BLUES TOUR WERE TALKING STELLAR
Dave is one of the last 80's rockers to not cut his hair short...for that he has my respect.
Some had their hair cut others it was baldness
Mettalica in the 90s cut their hair to "fit the times." Glad D.M. had the balls to say f-off at least. He is, who he is.
Brian May is also the same that it would look weird for him without his rocker hair
Maybe all the others were doing what THEY wanted to do? Instead Dave was actually trying hard to please others. Which move is a BITCH move? You decide.
@@fixxxer7030 neither cos you’re looking way too fukin deep into it🤣
Dave is one of the best riff writers of all time.
ABSOLUTELY YOU HEAR IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH PSYCHTRONIC
Fore sure a riff genius
Better than Metallica.
“So the beginning is obviously a pull off”
*proceeds to not play a pull off*
Yeah what is he talking about
Yeah, I hear it's actually called the Ellefson technique......
@@Wayne_Mather That's where he favours the minor notes.
I thought he said palm mute
Proceeds to correct the artist that made it.
I sometimes forget how fantastic the solo for this song is.
Marty Friedman (solo)
Dave is so cool man. He seems like a real chill guy...unless you kick him outta your band.
Muaha didn't see it comin
HE MAKES HIS OWN BAND HIS WAY
……..and then release an album with his work on it.😉
Or kick his dog. lol
Or he kicks you out from his.
This man made it his life goal to keep the San Francisco Bay Area Thrash scene alive within his locks of hair. The day he cuts that hair is the day Thrash dies.
He doesn't give a shit
So it died around Youthanasia....got it...
I feel ya BQ. That thrash scene was once in a lifetime. A Vio-Lence fan myself and CV grad (1983). The Bay Area thrash was a great place to be.
he's gotta do symphony lesson every time he gets a new guitar
TRUEE 😂😂😂
Was about to say basically the same thing.
Why can't he do Angry Again or something?
And I can't even find a version of his new signature with that gold metal V thing below the bridge.
Its in his contract lol.
This songs kind of their Enter Sandman so I overlook it a lot. But truly this is a killer song. Solid gold. I should listen to it more.
So is enter sandman 👍🙂
@@2112x1Book2 Oh yeah no doubt
Awsome song this is the song that got me into Megadeth. Hangar 18 is the song that made me a fan for life. Symphony has one of the best main riffs in metal though. I play guitar, and when I learned symphony all my friends thought I was a badass. 😆
@@randymiles904 haha yeah I know that feeling! Hangar is a certified banger!
Megadeths last album "Dystopia" is very reminiscent to the classic "Countdown To Extinction" album. If you want to hear another killer tune like Symphony you should check out the song "Post American World."
Legend, glad he’s doing well. Dave’s a true rock god. 🤘🏻
Instructions unclear, I ended up playing Enter Sandman.
Got to admit that's funny
Lol
Which basically Peace sells verse riff anyway.
Because it's easier🤡👌

Honestly, Symphony of Destruction is amazing, but there are other amazing songs that are underrated.

Dave is a straight up guitar legend.
Dave I still got that guitar pick you threw out back in 92. It was one of the greasiest shows I’ve ever been to back in early 90s. It was at a place called the Strand in Providence R.I. and they killed it that night just a great show. 4 bands that night. I had 23 laser beam drinks and left that place bloody, sweating like a madman and just full of adrenaline. Hey thanks for the memories Dave . Sucks we get old but still love the music as if I just heard it.🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
"left that place bloody, sweating like a madman and just full of adrenaline" dude, that line perfectly sums up my 20's and that awesome decade (the 90's) ...what I wouldn't give to be able to take that ride again. Good times, great bands, and awesome memories!
There ya fuckin go.
Awesome
I’ll tell ya bud I’d take that ride again with you in a half a heartbeat.
I hope the pick wasn't too greasy, otherwise this might have affected your speed picking technique.
Awesome budd! Thanks for sharing
That guitar looks clean.
ellefson has the stained one heheh
@@huwmorgan74 hahaha
Yeah I believe his maid cleans them
But playing doesn't
@@GEORGE-lj5jf yeah his “no practicing” is catching up to him.
I like Dave a lot he's just a down to earth cool person!!👍😊🎸 what a great guitar player also love those riffs so cool and melodic
Dave is one of a kind...a true riff king...awesome to see this thank you for sharing this gem!!
Dave is a national treasure.

@Solo Riffs, thank you so much for sharing this. This is just a great (and rare) treat to show someone who is willing to teach while also being a metal badass.
My pleasure Glen, I had to share this gem!
Dave really digs into those strings you can hear it well over the amp.
That's the other part you need to understand.
Excellent tune
Yeah, first thing i noticed too. Heavy picker
"c h o k e i t"
Yeah like I've replied to a post above, the tuning down allows all these bands if they want to increase the string gauge, allowing them to really spank the rhythm stuff and also give a lovely metallic sustained tone. Well actually, I don't know whether that's what they actually do, but it's what I'd do. If I remember right. Haven't played guitar in this style myself for about 100 years. But tuning down and a nice set of 11's would be my idea if I was doing some major crunch stuff.
I mean you don't want your bottom e string lapping about like a whore's G string (see what I did there?) but take it as far as it'll go. Nice hint of flange and chorus and you now have a lovely tone to be proud of.
The guitarist of Killing Joke I always feel is a good place to start if you want to go old school, and you can see the way he does it, all over the fucking place with a hollow body and all kinds of weird stuff.
Those are my random guitar musings for today. You may or may not agree.
Awesome! 🧡 So glad I found the channel
Great video Dave, you seem a lot more confident in this explanation than in previous ones (many years ago). Glad to see that. you rock
Thanks Dave! You're a good dude!!! Like the way you teach too!
Mind you,, he is singing over those fricking Riffs!!! Dave, you are one badass player...
Glad to see him still rockin in 2022! Been a fan since i saw Megadeth on the Peace Sells tour. Always loved his guitar riff over the years. Whats the word....Intricate? more complex than your usual Metal guitar player. This was cool.
thanks so much to share this with us :)
Amazing Dave one of the all time greats every done!! GOd bless him and his healing
Thank you. Very greetings from Lima 🇵🇪
Awesome to see a true Maestro at work. I grew up in Hawthorne, CA in the 1980s listening to Dave's guitar gently scream. Now I watch the nightly news with the sound off whilst playing the Symphony of Destruction. Dave's prophetic words are coming true!
NOTHING HAS CHANGED IT'S STILL THE SAME THING ONLY NOW IT'S EVEN WORSE THEN IT WAS BACK THEN AND YOU CAN'T EVEN LAUGH AT IT NOW LIKE YOU COULD BACK THEN NOW THE DAY FINALLY CAME WHEN WE CAN'T EVEN CALL OUT YOUR OWN LEADERS!!
Lol that's a badass way of watching the news!
One of the best songs in metal, and probably the best metal solo ever made, even though people normaly pick Hangar 18 over this. Underrated but epic.
Marty Friedman (solo)... Jason Becker
A god amongst mortals. All hail Dave Mustaine!
La verdad uno de los mejores musicos de metaltrash ,guitarrista, vocalizta front man de todos los tiempos
Dave is godlike in everything he is doing in Music 😅
Dave, man you are a beast with structure. Amazing!!!!
Que grande Dave ahora enseñando sus temas 🎉🏆🙏
Brilliant! Thanks, Dave. A song that will remain in the pantheon of heavy metal for epochs to come. Amen
"the beggining obviously is a pull off"
that's not a pull of dave but I'll take it
Beautiful guitar.
Amazing. More please
I love this song!
Dave's a great teacher! He not only demonstrates it but gives correct nomenclature of what each piece is. If he retires from touring he could be a great teacher to others.
What a gorgeous guitar sound.
Fantastic guitar!
I played Symphony with Dave in 2018..in LA..Dream Come True..gave me a great compliment..Dave is way underrated..Thanks bro

Countdown to Extinction is chock full of knock-out songs. Besides Symphony of Destruction, I also love High Speed Dirt, Psychotron, Captive Honor and Ashes in Your Mouth.
What an awesome album.
Bought that album 30yrs ago when I was a teen. It blew my mind then and I still love it now
Yes sir it’s a little trendy but all in all great album
I always liked Dave because I was a skydiver for years and I remember seeing him doing some jumps as well on Headbanger's Ball back in the early 90's. Rock on!
Listen to Highspeed Dirt. About a skydiver who fails at the end haha

The bass in this song on their 2021 tour was amazing. I mean it already is on the album but live it was even better.
Even when you’re sick of the song, you go back to it.

that gibson fly V is awesome, I think I need to get one.
“I choke the shit out of it!” And then proceeds to play like he’s trying his best to break the strings. Lol, I love Dave
Thats what Ellefson said.
Que felicidad estar frente a un grande aguante Mustaine aguante Megadeth
Gotta love Dave
Long live Dave Mustaine!
So simple. But it's the little things. The way he plays it. He plays it for real, well he wrote it and when the rest of us play it? We are just mimicking. Because we didn't write it.
The lesson we all needed
Thx Dave 4 breaking it down to learn.
🤘💀✌️
The first time that a Gibson Flying V has appealed to me. That's a beautiful guitar!
That Flying V with the Explorer headstock is clean
