I genuinely burst out laughing so hard when lad went from speaking in foreign language to get the McMuffin and the moment it was confirmed he went 'sod it' and just said "three of them"
Loving the crayon illustrations and the song choice haha very adorable
Cheers :)
This is an interesting concept.
At the start I thought the students would be a doing the cooking and Barry would be filming while providing advice, but this is still interesting.
Love to see you trying new stuff though Barry, and I'd definitely watch more videos of the same format.
There was a show on the BBC about 15 years ago that was this concept (Want to say 'Taking on the Takeaway') where a celebrity chef would go into someone home and cook their favourite takeaway whilst the presenter went and picked up the same thing from their regular takeaway. Barry might've had that hidden away in the back of his mind.
Or "but faster" that Joshua Weissman did
@@methebee Ssshhh! Nobody needs to know that Barry has stolen pretty much every video concept for the past ten years!!!
@@AntonGully but doing it gracefully, I assume you enjoy it
My guess is it's called an English muffin because it's a muffin from England 😊
Sounds good to me!
It differentiates the standard muffin in the US, which is like a Blueberry, or chocolate chip muffin, more like a dessert than a grain.
@@mrbarrylewiswhen I was younger they were just called muffins. It was only when the American style muffins became more commonplace that they started calling them English muffins here in the UK.
I heard they were invented by a Scottish man living in America 😅
I know them just as 'Muffins'. Same as 'English Breakfast' tea. I know that as ... Tea.
Great try using Czech in England! That’s fun. I was wondering what would be used. Loved that I understood.
You would understand quite a surprising amount, as words would share a root, and we would also have loan words. I don't know why they are called loan words, as they aren't given back!😂
THIS IS EPIC!! Please make this into a series, because I love it!
What did you like most? The students standing around doing nothing meaningful or the camera guy being gone from the kitchen, thank god?
Brilliant concept. Amazing to see you giving back by giving students experience. Look forward to more.
Cheers
I used to make these for breakfast all the time, but in a much more cheating way. I would get precooked frozen sausage patties and my roommate had a microwave egg cooker that was designed to make them just for the sandwich. It would take maybe 2 minutes to heat/cook everything and be ready.
Sounds good!
I feel like Barry's is the one you'd see in the ads, as compared to the real one. Nice of him to get students in on a video.

You're the Best mate😊😊😊❤❤❤
Been watching your channel for so long (very very long, makes me feel old remembering when I discovered you) and all these cool changes and improvements you make all the time is super inspiring to me. This was such a super cool unique episode haha. Cheers from America.
This was a fun one. And really enjoying the videos with Tom. It’s great that he can help with filming/production AND be such a good co-host. Feels like you guys found a great balance!
It's great to see the McMuffin Men got through the temporary traffic lights on Drury Lane
Like the idea behind this video, the challenge concept. More of these please!
Thanks some are harder than others but we thought it was a great opportunity for the students work experience
Agree with the commenter! Get the young ones involved early- Maybe a new twist on the channel, a breath of fresh air? And also back to your roots, as it were, teaching yourself to cook as a younger man. Maybe a second channel? Great possibilities IMO.@@mrbarrylewis
Imagine how quick it would go if you toasted and cooked the egg and sausage at the same time.
Love that you used kids from weston collage. I went to weston collage 20 years ago and would have loved to do this. They were fantastic 😊
Love these on a roadtrip.
Cheers!
Your sausage needs a lot of sage and a bit of crushed red pepper flakes. And the muffin should be fork split, not cut.
This needs to be a series! I love it
You are the Barry White of Breakfast sandwiches. Let's get it on
Gotta 'Practice what you preach' lol! (Think that was a Barry White song)
I make 10-12 of these on the weekend, wrap and freeze them for breakfast throughout the week. Love 'em although I do turkey sausage instead of pork.
how many breakfasts do you have per week haha
@@Thomashorsman Four family members and not everyone has a sandwich.
@@ThomashorsmanI do this as well and it's just me. I'm eating one right now.
This looked so fun! I’ve been excited to watch since seeing the filming on your Instagram stories. 😊
I picked up a cheap sandwich maker from Amazon when they first started doing Black Friday in the UK and the discounts were still worth bothering with. You have to precook any meat that goes into it, but it cooks the egg in place and melts the cheese perfectly. I can't eat the patties, but in some places you can pick frozen ones up, making it even faster. Not as nice as fresh, I'm sure, but they exist.
Barry is turning to saul goodman
You can get sausage patties at Sainsbury’s to make it easier and cheaper too
Yes and have you seen the whole knock-off ones in the freezer aisle?
@@mrbarrylewisyes I would never buy them but I do get the patties from time to time as I prefer them to beef burgers
@@mrbarrylewissausage patties cheese and black pudding that is yum yum!
Yes and Aldi too best thing ever invited for a Sunday morning 👍
Great video I do this all the time :) keep up your great work.
The McMuffin men sounds like a hell of a British boy band lol.
I love that you keep taking wild swings! And they've all hit so far! Keep it up Baz!
i like this video format.
This is a great video to make!
The British weather did not disappoint 👏
Oh, just at the start of the video and already enjoying what I see ❤❤❤
Love adding the extra people, fun
Great video Barry and team
Cheers then :)
This was a fantastic idea and video. Bravo.
I love this ❤
The smartest person in the room as he called It. should have told him that pork minced with salt and pepper is not sausage. Heck sage is even in the name sausage 😂
Agreed. Sausage needs more seasoning than just salt and pepper.
Thank you. I was just going to say this. That's just a pork pattie.
Barry, that’s not enough seasoning for breakfast sausage!
Brilliant challenge & the homemade Mc Barry’s muffin looked delicious 😋 Thanks Barry, Tom & Students 👏👏👏🤗
I love this concept! Absolute Genius idea! Hopefully there is more to come like this! Next time, maybe the college kids can cook too! Fantastic all the way around!
Great video guys! Great to see how you've stepped up the production of the videos (not too sure about the map though lol ;) but still kept the essential Barry humour / magic :)
Very new style I like it
Hahaha, this was a great ep. :) Good format too, especially with the fun (if dangerous!) challenges. :)
In this video, Barry casually recruits teenagers to reaffirm once again that his cooking is in fact better than fast food.
Tune in next week where he holds parliament hostage until they all try his sausage roll recipe.
Sorry if you've already answered this question, but where did you get the measuring jug with a spout? That would be so handy for me! 😊
Thought the thumbnail was Jamie Oliver for a second! 😆
Yummmmm 😁😁
I use to make those when I got back to work but I just bought a bag of frozen formed sausage patties. I used one of those silicone egg rings and tons of cheese.
Wasn't it chewy eating the silicone egg ring?
@@AntonGully I didn't eat the ring part.
This was fun :3
What was the difference in prices Barry?
"How the heck do you slice an egg mcmuffin into like 6 pieces?" LOL. For starters don't slice into 4 pieces.
It was quite tricky to do!
@@mrbarrylewis you're too hilarious. You make interesting and tasty food, and are funny! Keep it up!
Čeština!!! i was thinking what language he would toss but i was surprised !!🎉
Good to see some typical English weather 😂.
Wow... Barry is completely unaware of the concept of "short order" cooking. The goal is to have everything done at once (should have started cooking the sausage first, then put the english muffin in the toaster just before cooking the egg, then when it's toasted, butter it while the egg and sausage finish cooking, so everything is hot and ready at the same time) - instead of mixing up the sausage (I don't know if you can call that "sausage" with just salt and pepper; where's the sage? The thyme? Garlic powder? Onion powder?) and PUTTING IT IN THE FRIDGE, cooking the egg and setting it aside (so it gets good and cold), then the sausage and setting it aside (to get to room temperature), before toasting the muffin... That McD's must be quite far away.
Ive made my own egg mcmuffins and when I tell you its SO good
That was so fun and honestly I love that the homemade was the winner. So much better than restaurant quality or lack there of 😬
Great video
Barry you missed a golden opportunity at the golden arches, should have made them get breakfast for everyone if they were gonna be cheeky getting extras for themselves, would have probably more that doubled their time.
VERY good concept! Please do this more often barry! Teach more college students to eat better🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
They were a great bunch, any help is always welcome!
@@mrbarrylewisyessir 😊😊
that was a pretty cool video.
Well, Barry, yours definitely looks like the advert for McDonald's, but as we see, yours looks a lot larger, and im team home made
Pretty sure Barry watches Joshua Weisman 😂
It’s great still seeing 1080p quality in 2024
0:58 my wife’s Canadian in WSM and this is the first time she’s understood things proper
Nice video mate, like the way you're using tom in these as part of the video rather than previous editors. Good idea with the challenge as well, looked fun to make. Hope you made good use of those work experience kids on the washing up
just a thought - you could individually freeze the leftover muffins to use in a pinch for a quick breakfast....
If I ever make it to your corner, could you or Tom please drive me around? I don't know how you did driving in America, but just watching Tom, I would be so lost over there!! 😂 I love me some sausage egg McMuffins homemade, we can buy 2 here for 5$, and I think, it's been a while. I can make more at home for that amount. Good job now, I must make one, lol!!
That cheese I call " Plastic Cheese" since it's so hard to go bad, it just never changes no matter how long you've had it in the fridge or freezer. The only thing it's good for is melting. Lol
1 million subs just around the corner! 😄
Eggcellent idea! More of these please. Can you try doing a 90s Burger King XL Double Mushroom Swiss? :)
lol cute video with the guests. If I made that I would use a Brown and Serve already cooded sausage patty but that looked breat
there you are, Mc donuts, a proper breakfast muffin!!!
Clearly, Barry Lewis videos need more students from Weston college.
Good job, mate.
We make them at home sometimes.
They are so much cheaper and tasty.
It is called an English muffin, because American muffins are basically little cake similar to that of cupcakes, but not quite.
I use generic sausage patties(pick your favorite), and in less time it takes to make a pot of coffee, I can have 1 or more, req bigger pan, made with a side of eggs(over med). The price of my meal, less than 3$. Meanwhile the McDonald's meal costs 10$ or more and for less food.
In the end, McDonald's breakfast is only for those that don't have a kitchen or are away from home.
That's when Tom said "Why has this car got 2 steering wheels"
The original Sausage and Egg McMuffin video was my first Barry Lewis experience back in the day!
Thanks!
I would have used a sausage and de skinned it for the pork patty part
Richmond breakfast patties are great, take around 10 minutes in airfryer from frozen, 10 minutes in total for a sausage mcmuffin
My only question is... where did they find the kids? 😂
In the local college, like he said.
It's been a while since I was last here..... Who tf are these 4 with you Barry?
Also, massive Jamie Oliveoil vibes with that shirt Bazza
That name makes you sound scottish "its McBarry Laddy"
lol
Will these students be working in the people's pizzeria?
It's called an English Muffin to differentiate it from American Muffins, of course.
McDonald's eggs are like lumps of rubber, more akin to a hockey puck than an egg. No way id eat them.
I'd thought one of the boys was Barry's nephew, Jack. Honestly- it's been whie since we saw Jack and seeing how the girls- esp. Chloe grew up; why wouldn't one be Jack wearung contact lenses? ehhehe
Homemade is always the best; but it's all the work/love put into it.
BTW-Red Leicester would have been great in the McBarry sandwich!
What's the price difference?
To confuse things ask Chris the butcher what a muffin is 😂
Originally the American English muffin was invented by Samuel Bath Thomas when he immigrated to the USA in the late 1800s. It was first marketed to Americans as a "toaster crumpet" but named changed later. All info I could find said it was based/inspired by the crumpet
Nope, he may well have introduced it in the US but muffins existed in the UK for a long time before he came up with his version. There are recipes from the 1700s but they almost certainly existed before that in some form, since a lot of pain/griddle cooked breads could be made by folks who didn't have access to an oven.
From what I know, the American style of English muffin has a very open texture whereas a UK one has a closer crumb. American style English muffins are definitely not equivalent to UK crumpets as some people think.
@@orientalmoons I said the "American" english muffin. It was introduced in America after he immigrated. It was inspired by the crumpet..yes "inspired" not exactly a crumpet. He had to alter the components to make it work here, that's why it has a different consistency. Yes, that type of bread existed long before but the English muffin used in mcdonald's is different (you even said the American English muffin is different)
An EGGcellent video, Barry. Were the college kids media students? They did a great job. You should have them back again. Could it be a semi-regular thing?
homemade breakfast sammies are always better. only thing I'd change is the pork, sausage usually has more than salt and pepper
I didn't expect him to order in Czech!
With regards to the "10% cheese" comment, most of those are between 80% and 90% cheese.
That was satisfyingly silly but demonstrated nicely that some so called fast foods can be made faster at home. Likely cheaper too, but then you’re paying McDonald’s to do the cleanup too.
There are other fast foods that will take you longer like say a roast beef sandwich. Where exactly is the point of diminishing returns? What fast food item (s) take just as long to make at home as to buy? Not just sandwiches, but curries and other takeout? Basic fish and chips maybe?
I wondered why you were so far away from the camera at the start 😂
Nearly got the megaphone out!
And now I need a mcmuffin... It's been years since I had mcdonalds. You've ruined me by reminding me of the one thing on the menu that I crave.
Try it on a bagel 🥰😘
Nice call!
What happened to the kitchen you built in the garden? Thought it was for guest appearances and challenges but haven't seen you use it yet.
