Thank you for showing your GCSEs Barry. Even though they ultimately don't matter that much it helps to show people you can achieve what you want even with a rocky start
Zedaph being in this video is something I did not expect to happen at all! I had no idea you two knew eachother! That's another collap I didn't know I wanted or was even possible, that's great Barry!
The eggs & bacon are your Christmas Day brekkie, then the mince pie is your elevenses. You then have your main Christmas Day lunch, followed by Christmas Pud - you're missing the cream or brandy butter, but other than that, it makes sense!!!!
Christmas Tinner?? Haven’t even started watching and feeling like this should be on Ashen’s channel! Merry Christmas Barry!! And hoping 2024 is stonking!! ❤
I suspect that the “idea” here was that you start at the top and eat it layer by layer - but still… you’re a braver man than I, Mr. Lewis! Merry Christmas to you and your wonderful family :)
You do realise you're becoming a chef of some kind and a cooking expert? From trying to follow simple recipes you're now working out how to make things that don't actually exist. Merry Christmas Chef Barry and family!
hi, Barry been binge-ing your videos, i really like them at first it was cause of the creative projects but the thing that stands out is the cozy feeling of you doing the activities and trying to invite us to watch the process with you, making it so easy to leave on throughout my day. I wanted to get this message to you cause the feel of your videos have been such a nice break from the other science and cooking videos i get recommended. Thankyou.
First discovered you when Zed mentioned a potential Collab, can't count how many videos I've watched since then! You've both got a similar vibe, it's gonna be a great pairing!
I think the mince pies are supposed to be the starter, which might mean the scrambled egg is breakfast, maybe? I really hope Ashens gets to try this one day, given that he's done chicken/turkey in a tin before.
We do this in USA (Canada ??). BUT use Thanksgiving holiday feast leftovers.. It's good especially layarded between slices of American Biscuit loaf (think usa Bread round short muffin but but as a loaf of bread)
American here. I could easily see a Thanksgiving Dinner done like this. I mean, we basically already do this on a sandwich the day after so.. Also, one of us should send Barry some big American cans.
Those Brussels sprouts were the weirdest Broccoli that i have ever seen.. :D (Sorry. couldn't resist the joke from that error there) Merry Christmas to you and the whole family. :)
Seeing you working with a mold that you sawed off in half, sanded and taped back together reminded me of your "giant" videos, like the huge Easter egg you did. Maybe it's time to go to "mini" size? Anyways, I loved the video and the gaming lore that came with it. As usual, thank you for your hard work. Happy holidays/Merry Christmas to you and your adorable family, including Boston, of course. I hope 2024 brings you health, happiness, new dreams and a million subscribers!
7:15 I think telling your children to "do your best" is perfectly good advice. They get so stressed by their teachers to get 100%. I got E's, C's and F's as well (i don't remember ever going passed a B) but there are so many resources these days, they can just get the degrees needed elsewhere whenever they figure out their future career.
I've been trying to get my hands on one of these for years but every single time they apparently just don't exist and do exist both at the same time...Schrodinger's Tinner!
How about using Turkey mince and mix with mashed up roasted potatoes, Parsnips, stuffing, bacon, sprouts, cranberry sauce, bread sauce and Gravy to make a kind of meatloaf
It is always astonishing to me just how many UA-camrs I watch know each other, utterly amazing! And that Tinner honestly looked pretty good, I feel like, if it were real, putting it in the oven or something for like 5 minutes or so could probably do it a couple of favours, that looked really funky :D Very fun video and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!
It's been a good while since I watched the Did You Know Gaming video, but if I remember correctly, I believe the idea of the scrambled eggs was that it was for breakfast the next morning.
We actually make Thanksgiving dumplings: turkey, mashed potatoes, grated pumpkin, cranberries, and stuffing inside of a dough wrapper. Boiled and then fried. It is incredible!
Barry. Super respect intended :D There's a difference between 'charred' and 'browned'. Blackened, charred, browned... Even burnt. Very different things that live close to one another. Nothing in this video was charred. Not in any of your videos that I can recall :) Love watching though. Such enjoyable ideas. Many thanks...
Could pull it off using jars. For making at home method. After filling, put the jar(s) into a pot of water that's has an isolating layer like wood, silicone or a metal grill from a circle air fryer to keep the jar from touching the bottom of the pot ( prevents burning ) then boil till the jar filling starts to steam, then remove and screw the lid on. Could also do it in the oven till fillings start steaming. The point of boiling then putting a lid on the jar while fillings are still steaming is to both sanitize and create a vacume. Basicaly making it shelf stable and can probably last possibly a year or more at room temp maybe longer in mini fridge set to 10 to 15 degrees celsius. Any colder might cause ingredients to seperate. Can probably use a canner to put it into tins and using the same method for sanitization and vacume seal. Could use edible rice paper to seperate leaky layers so that your not using to much jellition. Make sure to let them cool down to room temp'ish before refrigerating, prevents certain bacterial growth ( like salmonella) due to sudden tempature shifts. Might work best if to refrigerate for a few days then return to room temp. To help with further sanitizing and curing the filling. I guess for reheating just remove lid and boil can / jar in water or put into oven to heat up enough to eat from can / jar. But can be eaten at room temp. But things that have jelly it might not be as good / liquidy. Try testing if putting the egg mix in while liquid the steaming the can cooks the eggs. Might prevent the eggs from overcooking. Making the filling steam then sealing creates a vacume by the steam replacing the air then when it cools down it creates a vacume when the water steam un-expands.
Man you had to remind me how one of my worst grades was in cooking class, all because the teacher was absent 90% of the time and flat out believed I couldn't possibly have made food this good so the other kids must have done it. She's probably the reason why I almost don't cook despite loving it and being great at it.
You know you could probably make this a bit more gift-friendly by making one in a wide-mouth 3/4 pint mason jar (~350ml size jar) and using something like a cocktail muddler to tamp the ingredients down smooth, to the edges of the jar to seal the layers off from each other and also make nice defined layers to see from the side of the jar. Obviously you wouldn't be giving those as gifts to people who wouldn't get it, but for someone like Stewart I bet he'd love it.
Got to about 30 seconds before Stuart thinking, this should be another Stuart Ashens/ Barry Lewis colab! I think it could actually work but you need to be carefully done several times to get it right. Merry Christmas!
The way the Gag went was that it was the whole days food so you didn't have to stop gaming, you started at breakfast with the mince pies a midmorning snack and then progressing onto the dinner in the afternoon/evening finishing up with the Christmas Pud for dessert. Problem with combined cans is it can make things like potato soggy so if you can't compartmentalize I'd just stick with meat and veg mixed with gravy thats had the stuffing herbs mixed in, Pudding may be best left as a second can but should be alright gellified as heated it will go liquid again, so small can with brandy sauce/custard and Christmas pud.
My guess with the eggs is that its the full day of food not just the dinner. Bacon and eggs for breakfast, snacking on mince pies to skip lunch, dinner then pudding. Great Video BTW!
Should keep the mince pie on the bottom, as that's usually the last to be eaten, and make the top layer mashed potato followed by roast potatoes. I agree, pigs in blankets should be added. The tin should be whole, so it can be heated up in a pot of water, and eaten from the top down.
Didn't Stuart Ashen have an episode on a Christmas Dinner in a can? It was a funky thing, honestly. The can was one of those 'camping' sort of tins where you punctured it and it heated itself up. Kinda terrifying how it sprayed, but uh... sure? Regardless of the packaging prominently featuring a brussel sprout, there were no sprouts in the can. From what I remember, uh... the entire mixture was goopy.
Perhaps a Christmas Tinner of the main meal and then also a dessert Tinner. So many extra things to go in the second can, Christmas cake, gingerbread, chocolate covered mints, nuts, mince pie, Christmas pudding, Yule Log and perhaps even trifle. I'm sure it would be an excellent video if you could get some food technologist help you with perfect canning.
you could have got a hot dog tin, i think the scrambled eggs is the breakfast for the day, maybe its supposed to be a christmas day food not just dinner
I got a D in GCSE PE. It was my favourite lesson and I put in 100% in every lesson, just to be overlooked. I played for every team I could, in and outside school. I got my bronze medallion lifesaving award and became a lifeguard illegally at 15 as they were understaffed and I should have been 16 and have an NPLQ (national pool lifeguard qualification). I got an "apprenticeship" but should have actually had the NPLQ and been 16 first before working poolside by myself. I won a junior British taekwondo championship at 17, I became a gym instructor at 19, then I had my own taekwondo business that was passed down from my instructor. I became a chief instructor and grading examiner. I was part of my old PE teacher's 20 year old son's sparring line up and was on the grading panel. My old teacher paid me to pressure test his son and kick and punch him, then judge him on how he did 🤣. And then paid me £50 for the privilege to test him and give him a new belt that cost me £5.
Next year, try spreading each layer on a flat surface and freezing. Cut into rounds slightly smaller than the can and stack while frozen. Then slide on the can as you did.
Always interesting to see what other people eat for christmas. Our traditional christmas dinner was roasted duck leg with red wine cabbage, potato dumplings and gravy.
@@mrbarrylewis Yes, if you google "österreichisches weihnachtsessen" the first couple pictures show some variations, some supplement the duck it with roasted pork.

I am from Canada, but my grandparents were Scottish, so our Christmas traditions were very Britis. I have to say I still celebrate in the same ways, but I can not do Brussel sprouts or mince pies or as we call it in my house "Micemeat Pies". Blessed holidays to all.

Barry, if you had used a "side opening can opener" it cleanly takes the top of the can off at the seems and you wouldn't have to worry about that ridge inside, just stick the lid back on and it looks like it was never opened.
Well, here in the U.S. large cans of chicken stock are a holiday staple. They're about 48 fluid ounces or so. I would start there. Bottom of the can maybe fruit cake, but good fruit cake. On top of that, a pineapple slice as this is usually on top of holiday ham. A slice of ham. Cranberry orange sauce (I make mine with a bit of jalapeño) A slice of turkey breast A portion of dressing (a sort of somewhere between stuffing and a savory bread pudding served instead of stuffing in the southern U.S.) A bit of turkey and homemade egg noodles Turnip Greens A yeast roll Baked Mac n Cheese Brussel Sprouts and Bacon Sweet Potato Mash Mashed Potatoes And the top layer, a few deviled eggs maybe? It would be a big can. The holiday spread at my house included recipe favorites from 3 Grandmas and my own little additions. It was always quite a table of food.
Bro this was just a random video that popped into my feed, I was not expecting a random Zedaph, one of my favourite content creators, to be mentioned in it 😂
Great video as always. I may stick with the full English breakfast in a tin though 😀 Merry Christmas to you and the family. Hope 2024 is a stonking year (you WILL get to a million subscribers!)
I wonder if the cranberry sauce enhanced the mince pie sweetness with the pudding to make a sweet explosion in your mouth. Well Merry Christmas to you and the family.

Making the filling steam then sealing creates a vacume by the steam replacing the air then when it cools down it creates a vacume when the water steam un-expands.

Cranberry orange sauce (I make mine with a bit of jalapeño)
A slice of turkey breast
A portion of dressing (a sort of somewhere between stuffing and a savory bread pudding served instead of stuffing in the southern U.S.)
A bit of turkey and homemade egg noodles
Turnip Greens
A yeast roll
Baked Mac n Cheese
Brussel Sprouts and Bacon
Sweet Potato Mash
Mashed Potatoes
And the top layer, a few deviled eggs maybe?
It would be a big can. The holiday spread at my house included recipe favorites from 3 Grandmas and my own little additions. It was always quite a table of food.
Bro this was just a random video that popped into my feed, I was not expecting a random Zedaph, one of my favourite content creators, to be mentioned in it 😂
Great video as always. I may stick with the full English breakfast in a tin though 😀 Merry Christmas to you and the family. Hope 2024 is a stonking year (you WILL get to a million subscribers!)
Thank you for adding subtitles:)
Barry if there's any way to blur something later. You should blur your center number and candidate number on your GCSE cert. It's linked to all sorts
I wonder if the cranberry sauce enhanced the mince pie sweetness with the pudding to make a sweet explosion in your mouth. Well Merry Christmas to you and the family.
I quite like the thought of this, I’d change the bottom layer to Black Pudding.
I would go from the top-down pudding on bottom is the desert layer looks like it could be good...
