    A great way to paint parts is to hang them, get some tie wire, and glue gun. Cut the wire to an appropriate length hot glue it with a small dab on the back of the part. Bend the other end over a rod or 2x2 or whatever you hang them from. Another thing is do not touch the parts with your bare hands after they are sanded and wiped down. The oil from your skin transfers to the plastic and will either leave a mark or cause a weak bond. Thanks for all of your videos. They are very informative.

    Good videos bro. I bought a 2012 Scion XB I'm doing a full interior restore. Sound deadening and interior paint. I'm using Colorbond paint made for interior parts. I'm stealthing it out all black. The silver pieces around the gear shifter I wet sanded with 1200 Grit and used krylon fusion paint which turned out amazing. All of the upper parts will be all black instead of grey. I also put in a black headliner. I am going to replace the factory stereo with an alpine ILX-650. I bought this model because it's a stick shift which is going away. Removing the entire dash and front was a challenge as there is not a lot of information out there. I'm also gonna add RGB lighting on the inside that will also follow the music. Like you said, with all the sound deadening material it's not going to be a race box, but a bass box. LOL I haven't decided on a proper amp or speaker upgrades yet.

      Thanks man! I bet that actual interior paint is gonna be nice. I’m thinking about blacking out all the grey too, it just looks bad with the green and black now. I still have yet to fully remove the dash, but it needs to come out next. Sounds like you’re gonna have a pretty dope build!

    just came across your channel. great video. now if you want to not paint on a table and get a better result you can get some old wire coat hangers and hang them from something so you don't tilt your can. and paint is safe to touch after 48 hours but it can take up to 30 days to completely cure. but your work looks great.

      @@DaBadNewz thank you man, definitely earned my follow and support. I spent like $80.00 in supply for this. But hopefully the grit I got on the sanding will be good. Someone recommend I used 5000 grit. But if you have a different preference please do let me know.

    • @DaBadNewz
      @DaBadNewz  Рік тому +1

      5000 would be good for after you spray the clear (to polish it up for the extra shine). Tbh I never even did that part. For sanding the pieces before you paint, i use 400 grit most of the time. Basically just want it evenly scuffed up. If you go too low, you’ll put scratches, but if it’s too high then it wont really do what you need it to.

    • @DaBadNewz
      @DaBadNewz  Рік тому

      That is 100% possible! (It IS quite a bit of work, but I think the results are worth it if they’re something you really want). Getting the seats, floor, and headliner reupholstered are all just a matter of budget/time and fixing up and changing the color of the plastics is all just good prep work and taking your time on the painting.

    Hi, do I need to sand if the vinyl/plastic surface has leather texture?

    • @DaBadNewz
      @DaBadNewz  Місяць тому

      That kind of depends on what you mean. The little covers that go behind my door handles (that I painted in this video) has a texture to it, if you mean like those, then yes I would still recommend sanding, but do so with a sponge or something that will keep even pressure, and don't sand very aggressively if you want it to keep the texture, (mine is definitely not as textured as it was before I painted it).
      BUT, if you mean like an actual soft type vinyl/leather, then I would honestly not know if spray painting is the best bet in the first place.

    Can we spray paint the entire car interior with house paint?
    I'm talking ceiling, floors, carpet, seats, dash, doors. All. Of. It. 10:37
    Like...color flooding it?
    I want it to see how something like that would look like.
    Imagine it.
    Brand new land cruiser/4runner/sienna, all black exterior, or black accents, then open it up and its a flood of either an all pink, purple, or orange interior.
    Idc if people think it's destroyed or hurts resale value. When I buy things, I buy things for me, not for others.

    • @DaBadNewz
      @DaBadNewz  4 місяці тому +2

      I’m 1000% FOR the idea of a completely color matched interior. On the cars I’ve seen that have done it, it usually ends up super clean. That being said, I definitely don’t think I’d be using house paint to do it. I’m not 100% sure as to why tbh, I just don’t think that’s the best for the job.
      But the concept? ALL for it.

      Hanging in there just fine! Tbh I haven’t looked at the roof in a while, but I’m taking the lack of sagging as a good sign.
      Everywhere else and where I can actually see it it’s doing great! Still very much in favor!

      @@DaBadNewzAny tips on sound deadening? Thinking of adding a little to the box to cut some road noise

      I would definitely recommend it! I have a couple videos of the process (doing the doors, floor, and roof).
      You don’t need to completely cover an area for it to make a noticeable difference.
      And I definitely recommend getting a roller (I would get either one with bearings OR a metal roller). Just makes the process much easier.

      @@DaBadNewz thanks man is there an area you think will make the most difference? Like if you had to choose one?

    • @DaBadNewz
      @DaBadNewz  Рік тому +1

      Really depends on the car. In mine, the whole car was noisy from the jump, so everywhere needed a bit, but I started with the doors to try to minimize the road noise a bit.
      When I added the sub, the roof was vibrating so loud you could hear it over the bass sometimes, so that was what I addressed next.
      You kinda just need to listen around to what is shaking the worse and work from there.
      But be warned! Chasing rattles literally never ends! Just work from worst offenders first.
      Good luck man!

    It looks really well done! Thanks for the video. I see your car is in the garage, but how would heating up from the sun affect the paint?

    • @DaBadNewz
      @DaBadNewz  4 місяці тому

      I would try to prevent it from just sitting in the sun for the first few days, (can be done before reinstall), but other than that, it does fine! When I'm not at home it's usually in the sun, and while SD isn't the hottest, it has definitely seen some heat in the 2 years it's been done. So far, other than a few dings here n there from wear n tear, paint still holding up strong!
      Thanks for checking it out!

      I'm in San Diego, but heads up...it aint cheap! The reason I try to teach how to DIY is because if I do it, it's gonna be a couple hundred...if you do it, it will cost you about $30!
      BUT, if you got about $300 burning a whole in your pocket, get at me!

    Do it go live! You gotta deal with all the weirdos in the comments but you don’t even have to edit it in post, you can rip off a new episode every day off the cuff

    • @DaBadNewz
      @DaBadNewz  2 місяці тому

      I tried it once while I was doing my engine change, and realized that I would definitely want to prepare a little more. But I really like the idea of a regular Live episode! Editing takes a ridiculous amount of my time right now, and that would be a pretty slick way to not get too wrapped up in it, but still be able to put out content with some kinda consistency.
      Thanks for the input! You got me thinking!
