Yeah me too. That would also make sense looking at the name. Hydreigon = Hydra + drei + dragon. (Drei is German for three, just like ein is one and zwei is two (see Deino and Zweilous))
Actually speaking, Hydreigon feels like it’s more based on the Hydra, especially as there is a story involving a 9-headed one. The Yamaha no Orochi is 1 head off, while the Hydra has the exact amount of heads. The three heads may also refer to how people portray the Hydra with only 3 heads instead of 9.
Actually speaking, Hydreigon seems more based on the Hydra. The Hydra actually had 9 heads, the exact amount that’s in Hydreigon. There seems to be 3 heads in the day because the Hydra is often portrayed with 3 heads instead of 9. In fact, the fact it seems to have more heads at night might be based on the head multiplication property of the Hydra.
Ikr I also wish it gets a Galarian Form or/& Galarian Evolution or/& Gigantamax Form for either that Evo or just Jynx (but I’d prefer an Evolution) I think it could really help out Jynx a lot and make people to actually LIKE it
Its based on a fashion style in the early 90s I think. The Ganguro. Many japanese women would wear black make-up with thicc pink lipstick. Jynx is like a parody of this style
It's based on the Ganguro fashion trend of 90's Japan and the Yama-Uba, a youkai that takes the form of a dark-skinned hag that dwells on snowy mountain tops.
6:47 I think the phalanx idea of Falinks seems to be a misunderstanding brought about by the English translation name being, not wrong, but overly specific. It bugged me that Falinks (my favorite Gen 8 Pokemon) is actually a poor interpretation of a phalanx, given it doesn't cover its front, its biggest weakness, at all. A phalanx is supposed to have its members next to each other with overlapping defense, not behind each other. Note that it doesn't even get Wide Guard (yet). Consider its Pokedex entries. One of them puts emphasis on the part about one of them being a higher rank, while the other states that they can assume a variety of formations (not that they do in the games...) Several of the other name translations that don't copy the English name also reference formations, generally. But someone pointed out its Japanese name ("tairetsu", meaning both 'rank' and 'formation'). So it's actually a reference to "Rank and file", both the higher ranking lead member at the front, and the single file formation (that it almost exclusively walks and battles in) forming behind it. Of course, you can't exactly call it "Rankin", since that name has other animation uses. "Fylin" (file-in), maybe?
I’m an OG Pokémon fan and I used to think that Pokémon went off the track with their stupid new Pokémon ideas. But this video turned me around. Thank you
Another fun thing for Dragapult. The diplocaulus, which it is based on, has a nearly complete fossil with the exception of some portions of its tail. That might be the reason that the end of Dragapult's tail is ghostly and invisible.
I’d also like to add something to Sir Fetchd that I believe to be true. The concept of “fight or flight”. Far Fetch’d is typically normal flying. Sirfetch’d is fighting. Pokémon evolve due to circumstances in their environments. Farfetch’d in certain regions may not have as many natural predators in the areas they reside or maybe have more access to food and their populations are larger so they don’t become prey as often. However, it clear that in the newest region they need to be able to defend themselves so they evolve into a fighter. Which references the “fight or flight” way of surviving.
6:59 I actually do know. Not because of pokemon. In a cartoon anime, doraemon. They accidentally dropped a gadget that produces illusions and is used in filming which turned into that thing
I've tried so hard to tell people that Flygon is an antlion and not a dragonfly, but they just choose to believe it's a dragonfly because "lol it fly and also dragon" considering it's Instagram where these people lurk, I'm not surprised
something else about cursola: it's fitting to have a pokemon based off coral bleaching in a region based off the country that started the industrial revolution: Brittan, which resulted in the heavy reliance in fossil fuels. This dependence on fossil fuels in Brittan is shown everywhere in Galar from the two mines, Motostoke and a literal coal pokemon.

With Orbeetle, I think it's worth noting that it also has elements of Japanese mecha, such as the yellow V-shaped fin antennae and somewhat mechanical body. Its size also fits this: it's about the size of a high quality Gunpla model!
Zizagoon is actually meant to be a sort of mix and match of tanuki and raccoons in addition to badgers. The "guma" in the Japanese name could come from "araiguma" (raccoon) or "anaguma" (badger). No mention of tanuki other than some of the moves.
Cyndaquil is based on the hinezumi, also known as kaso or huo shu in China. The hinezumi is a fire rat said to live in volcanoes. It's famous for its fire-proof fur in the Princess Kaguya myth. What tipped me off is that, in Japanese, the Pokedex classifies Cyndaquil as the ひねずみ (hinezumi) Pokemon. Everything else lined up, down to Typhlosion's volcano influence.

In fact, the fact it seems to have more heads at night might be based on the head multiplication property of the Hydra.
