I love that you don't edit, you show everything and don't miss a step
Thanks Bro. Glad some appreciates the Videos!
Best XJ lift vid Ive seen leaving the leafs in was pretty efficient, nicely done w/ explanation of size of bolts and everything
🤘
nice !
went with the full leaf kit on mine (old ones were shot) came out great !!
To the point, no BS. Your experience is much appreciated. Thank you, brotha. What a wonderful thing youtube is
Clean little xj. LOVE mine she's 4wd though.
These are getting harder to find especially the ones as close to stock as possible 4wd is always a huge plus!
Wow. You have the RIGHT tools and you have muscle memory up the wazoo with them. You’re good at what you do.
👍
You did make it look easy I had mine done in five hours 😵
You made it look really easy. Thanks!
That's a problem
Expect rusted broken bolts welded together that could take a day
Buying a high mileage 99 tonight!!!
Old lady driven
Can't wait , I've owned gr.cherokees but this is my first xj
Cool dude, have fun the xj!
Great Video and now im going to order for my 86 xj.
Good explication of the process
Bro...this video was amazing🤙🤙 keep doing your thing.
Thanks that the short side leaf is inboard. Almost put mine on Backwards.
Great vid man- totally helped me out!
I had installed a 3" add a leaf RC lift in my white '96 XJ. Now, years later I have swapped lift into a green '95 XJ. I ended up buying full 3" leaf packs from RC for install to the 95. These springs have a shim that seems to be affecting driveline vibration. Installed correctly as shipped from RC with shim (front < rear), the diff angle is in line with driveshaft but not equal to output shaft and have a vibration/shudder that starts around 20-30 mph. I have seen videos of removing this shim or even turning it around (front > rear). Right now I have shim removed. Rear diff. angle to output shaft angles are better but still have some vibration, enough that I don't want to drive it on the highway. There was no vibration prior to lift install. The leaf springs part # 8047 did seem shorter than OE, had to really force rear shackle forward, to line up. The original install in the white '96 with add-a-leaf had no such issues, not even alignment. I have installed into the green '95 with new control arms. The vibration is definitely coming from the rear. Any ideas? Any experience with this correcting? I've heard people post: transfer case drop, double cardan drive shaft, etc. Do I need to determine needed rear diff angle and somehow shim under spring pack correct angle? Thanks!
Kinda late with this reply but thanks for the video, your install gave me some confidence to do the kit at home, appreciate your tips...
Good luck!👍
thanks for the video i have a 96 xj and was wondering about the 3 in lift thanks
Thank you! I’ll probably be installing this soon
Most welcome , have fun
So good. Great vid!
Very nice video. Cool music.
Good job as always, looks good man👍. Although I think you should tell your buddy to ditch those explorer wheels. Been waiting for you to make some more classic jeep videos.
Thanks, it's rolling on some of my old wheels now.
Thanks man, very helpful video 🤙
Glad it helped
thanks for the video!
Great job
Great video best I've seen
Most appreciated! Happy holidays
For almost the same price you could have gotten a Zone lift kit. Made in USA. Zone is owned by FOX. RC works I guess. Great video Jeep looks good.
I definitely look into Zone on the next lift, thanks.
Is there a major difference between the 2 quality wise
Badass r32
I have the same car in Egypt. But yours is super clean.
I want to start rebuilding the suspension to a legit 3-4” lift and I need guidance on the parts
I won’t be able to buy the parts all at once since I’ll have to import everything to Egypt (super costly)
My car is lifted 3.5” but more of a DIY thing by the previous owner with 31” tires:
Teflon lift kits for the front shocks
Jeep Wrangler shocks
Added 1 leaf for the rear springs (no shackles)
Rubicon lower control arms
No slip yoke eliminator
What do you think I should do? Where should I start?
Thanks for the vid. How long did it take? Also, 4x4 ship saying they can install RC 3 inch lift for 14 or 1500.
Hey, great video. Where do i find that drop fitting you used?
You can’t be American because you said “I’m going to go ahead and…” only ONCE! Kudos. Great video
Are the bump stops suppose to be angle forward on the front?
How's the ride with the back add a leafs?
What was the total cost after alignment??? I may be doing a 2wd Comanche, not sure of the year.(?)(?)
Can't you use a couple of ratchet straps to squeeze the springs?
Super
What size of tires are those?
Did you have to use a torque wrench? And do we have to drill?
Hey did you use stock sway bar end links?
Great video. Would this lift kit also work on an 88 Comanche MJ? I believe the suspension set up is the same between the XJ and the MJ. Thanks!
I think so
You know if your buddy ended up getting longer control arms, and extending the sway bar down with mounts? That’s the only 2 components I’m missing from my kit, and I really don’t want any death wobble.
He didn't.
Just got my xj back after lift install. Done by professional. OME kit. Not cheap but I love my jeep. I'm thinking I made a big mistake. It looks like a 70's jacked in the back. Lift raised front only slightly. Back like 3'' My fault for not telling them to remove a leaf maybe? But why would OME make a kit like that? What a surprise I got driveshaft bind, grinding and vibration. I liked the idea of new springs and good shocks. But if I could do it over I would listen to my mechanic and keep her stock. Idk if dropping one of those leafs will make things better but this ain't cool.
What size lift did you have installed?
RC lift on all 4 of my XJS it's been years and no problems about to do another one on my daughter's XJ
Oh sure, now I see your comment. I’ve heard really bad things about RC so I went with IRO 3” (3.5” with new rear leafs) long arm kit with their OTK 5/8 steering upgrade. Going on a 97 2-door. Now I’m wishing I had gone cheaper lol. I’m going to fit 35s.
@@DustySteel rough country is shit. I own a 99 with an rc 3.5 on 33s and it rides terribly, my 01 has a rubicon express 5.5 lift on 35s and I love it, feels actually drivable.
@@ccdccd2708 nice!! I’m definitely glad that I went with Iron Rock Off-road. I’m going to have to cut the fenders and bumpstop like crazy to fit the 35s.
@@DustySteel you might wanna rethink 35s on such a small lift tbh, maybe go for adjustable shackles and coil spacers to give you an extra 1.5-2 inches? Feel free to check out both of my xjs on my reddit u/justanotherxjkid
Got the same lift yesterday. But mine came with brackets to lower the sway bar. Not a single one for the track bar. Curious.....
Is yours 2wd or 4wd?
Way to utilize your friends hood as a display table. How many dings & or scratches were added?

do you need to add a slip yoke eliminator and a new driveshaft for this high of a lift?
Nope
Where did you get the traction bar drop bracket ? I ordered that same kit and it did not come with it

Okay so just confirming can I use my stock sway bar end links ?
You can, but I wouldn't.
How did you move the track bar to fit the new bracket? I’m having a tough time with that
Ratchet strap if you need to pull the whole jeep over.
Can we put an RB25det into a Cherokee? I just happen to have one lying around with tranny 15k km on the dash
Lol 😆. I'm actually looking for one locally,
Sir,
My oldest one got spoiled and was given her "want" car when we got her a 2001 xj limited 4x4 for her 16th. I read up all about these vehicles as I am NOT a jeep guy what so ever. I learned about most of the common problems and have inspected/fixed accordingly over the last year. I have read up on the 0331 head issues as well. She now wants to lift this thing 🤕so...is a simple 4" lift on 31" tires the best combo? She wants 33" tires...The jeep is super super clean...so I don't want rubbing, death wobble, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hey. I don’t know if you’re still considering a lift or if you already did it, but for a teenager it might make sense to stick to a 3” lift or less. Beyond 3” you start to get into needing driveline alterations (sye, hack n tap, new driveshafts, etc.) and it can go from a $300 weekend project to a multi-weekend, research-heavy, $2,500 ordeal with tires. Curious what you end up deciding!
@@tanner6538 Still has not happened yet. CPS went out so I had to change that (went OEM), then tinted the windows, and then more maintenance items/work. I really appreciate the response! She loves her XJ.
@@alsaku333" and 31s
He really meant sit on it. Lol
Does the same procedure works for 4wd
Everything is the same
the black bracket comes with the kit from Amazon?
No
What brand of speed wrenches were those?
Extra Long Flex-Head amzn.to/3BZ359A
Great video. After installing the 3’ lift did it affect the steering at all?
A little bit . ua-cam.com/video/mYckvBwwv6s/v-deo.html
Do you have to have the peice you drilled out? Mine didn't come with it and my bar won't line up since installing the front.
Nope. Your going to need to pull the jeep over, use a ratchet strap.
@@Donnythelatemodeltech you don't have video do you?
How's it holding up and how do like the ride quality?
Wish I could tell you. Sorry
It's a bummer to see Cherokees that are in great shape at the Boneyard. Simple engine swap or mabye something simpler could get you a nice ride, but Pick a Part in Southern California won't sell a complete car. That blows. REVOLUTION!!
It’s a paper work thing.
Did you get the track bar bracket with the lift kit? I ordered the same kit that was in the description and it didn’t come with one
Nope
Where did you get it? Could you drop a link? Also great video, I’m gonna throw on the kit today

Why lift a 2 wheel drive...?
Cause the customer paided me
@@Donnythelatemodeltech why would he bother.
Looks.
Good looking. But who buys a 2wd Jeep 🤦♂️
I'm just doing the work. Lol
@@Donnythelatemodeltech For sure. Just hope you gave him a hard time at least.
The title of this video hurts my brain.
Dang I need some ugga duggas 😢
No th like my Comanche cause its under slung.
I know you didn't do this in 20 min.....!
Lol, too some ⏳
Not trying to sound like a hater, but what's the point of lifting a 2WD. You did fine a fine and effient job. It was just a job that should have never been done.
The guy on UA-cam was watching a tutorial on UA-cam
Lost me at RC and 2WD
Wgats wrong with RC? Seriously how come I hear bad things about RC?
Come on man....Friends don't let friends buy Rough Country lifts.....👎👎
Lol.... I know... my buddy wanted to go even cheaper. I had to convince him on the rc. This xj is a ... lol fixer upper.
For what it is and what the jeep is used for "gubhub" it's surprising ok looking.
I was only foolish enough to buy a RC lift ONCE....😂😂😂
My self personally I can't knock Rough Country products. Their technology is improving as time goes on. They do sell many parts and for more affordable price. And you always expect Champaign quality if you can barely afford a beer budget right! I more prefer Rubicon express, or Rusty's off road. But after a afternoon of wheeling you would still like to have enough money in your pocket for some dinner.
I watched a video from Rough Country, that shows them installing a 3" lift on a XJ. They were showing it with front lower control arms, front sway bar frame extension brackets, and complete rear leaf spring sets. Was the kit your friend purchased from Rough Country there super economy XJ kit? Or did he select his own parts for the lift and purchase them separately to make his own lift kit?
As soon as I heard 2wd I lost interest. Why would anyone have a 2wd jeep? That completely defeats the purpose of having a jeep. Sorry but thats my opinion only.
Great job
