One thing I liked better about raging blast was how they handled ultimate finishers. If you killed an opponent with a beam ultimate, like a kamehameha or final flash, the opponent would just vanish like they were disintegrated. In sparking zero, the character just flies away like every other recent dragon ball game. Raging blast made ultimates feel super powerful like they are in the show.
@gabenaps8738 3 ultimates? I always blow it up in 1. Sometimes, when it hits the enemy, it won't blow the planet up, but if you miss on purpose and hit the ground, Namek will always blow up on the first try.
Raging Blast games allowed you to customize Super Attacks, which resulted in a possibility of having 4 full-fledged Supers, not just 2 + 2 skills. Also, a lot of Supers were activated as a countes or a QTE combos, which were a great addition to the actual combos.
fun fact: in RB 2 you could set a custom music when you go in rage mode i naturally picked the silliest and most anticlimactic tune that was available called "Dance to the tower" just imagine an epic fight someone is about to go completly bonkers and then the ukulele starts it became for me like the theme song of that game just because of that at the same time i started online gaming and needed a gamertag guess what after all this years its still my tag everywhere and people call me Dance in DC or Twitch crazy how these little things impact your life just wanted to share that :)
Honestly that sounds like an OG Dragon Ball moment. Good on you, man. If Sparking Zero ever brings back “Dance to the Tower,” I’ll do the same thing and I’ll think of you while I do it.
Tenkaichi 2 has been one of those games with music that's just permanently stuck with me as a persistent ear worm. Dance to the Tower being one of the most prominent ones. It warms my heart that you have that silly RB2 connection that you've kept for so long! 😁
@@niksin9941 fr man, same here at first. I main Cooler (not metal) and I really wanted to use his base forms energy blast on his final form. And similarly I really wish I could swap out Golden Frieza’s “no hard feelings” attack for some sort of rush combo.
@@entityuntombedEach character only having 2 supers is one of the features that shouldn't have been brought back, it restricts the player imo. I rarely ever use blast ones, so that's 2 slots that may as well be empty for me on most characters. god i loved raging blast 2, playing the split screen with my brother as ssj3 goku vs ssj3 vegeta, to the amazing looking graphics and animations at the time. it felt so smooth to play, i understand the flaws but it’ll always be one of my favorite dragon ball games in my heart

Bro same! when I downloaded the rb2 demo and fought debura as a kid my mind was blown. i had to go to my family's old dvr and record as much dragon ball kai as I could.
I remembered I wanted to play Raging Blast back in the day, I thought it was just Tenkaichi 3 in HD, but I didn't have a PS3 and it was still relatively expensive. As time went on I became a PC player and never bother to buy another console or emulate the PS3, so Sparking Zero becomes the first Tenkaichi "successor" that I play.
Been there brother, but I got to emulate some Dragon Ball Games using PSP Emulator back then before I moved to Xenoverse 1 and 2, it's up until recent years where I got the hang of how to get files and softwares to run BT3 and RB2 on PC.
I think you missed what Raging Blast did best. The hand to hand was unrivaled. You could risk blocking till you broke, time your “sway” to completely miss every punch or try to risk countering at just the right moment. You could mix all three blocking techniques too. It made for much more dynamic exchanges close up. I haven’t played any DBZ game with the depth in Hand to hand like Raging blast.
@@ChaosReaper426 what do you mean by mix all 3 blocking techniques? In tenkaichi, you could block, then use ki to sway then decide to block again. You could sway at any time in tenkaichi. Then vanish the charge attacks and sweep and lift attacks. And if u were already blocking, you could press dash to vanish at any time. In some ways, sparking zero has less mechanics cause they did remove some of these or simplified them. But the tenkaichi games had far more going for them than the raging blast games
I feel like the normals in raging blast were so memorable because it was almost impossible to land supers in them lol. Snapping supers had nearly a full second of frames for snapping beams and rush supers. Pretty much the only way to guarantee a super attack in those games is to shoot a single ki blast since it staggers long enough for a close range beam.
You can z vanish after any attack, vanish any attack, block then go into a counter, or z-counter, go from an attack vanish into any other move as well. You can dash while being attacked to dodge or hold to sway. I don't see really much of a difference, but I'ma go play raging blast and see for myself.
I wish sparking zero would let you customize super attacks. They made bardock more like his super appearance so I wanted to customize his moves back to z.
5:04 God, the Super Spirit Bomb in Raging Blast 2 is so damn cool. The shot of the spirit bomb hurdling towards you with a bit of shaky cam never fails to be terrifying.
I friggin love Raging Blast 1. The diorama's for the story and what ifs were amazing and is a shame no other game took inspiration from it. Wishing we got a Raging Blast 3, although I suppose, in a way, that is Sparking Zero. Also, character select was leagues better in Raging Blast than Sparking!!
Not a single mention of RB's cancel system, RB had less combos, but it had a cancel system and a signature move that made its characters not clone-like, but anyway, yet another video and comments from people who didn't even try them thoroughly, only graphics and roster for casuals matter.
That’s how I feel about sparking zero. Everyone’s acting like the mechanics in sparking zero weren’t already in the tenkaichi games and the raging blast games lmao. Shows how many people actually played the originals. My brother and I played each entry till the day their sequels were made. I’ve now got a 131 win streak In Sparking zero lol. A lot of people really never played the originals it seems

I was hoping team attacks would have been carried over. I never liked having an added character in ultimates. It felt like it took away from your own character as opposed to team ultimates if you have the right characters in your party.
@@GeteMachine EXACTLY! character assists would be awesome indeed, another sad thing is manual swaying from rb2, I'm sad it's gone i do like the sonic sway feature but it gets lowkey annoying after awhile for me personally, holding block and swaying punches yourself felt wicked and rewarding
The first raging blast actually did have the ki blast deflection. It also had a deep unique customization system that was ripped in RB2. It actually kinda had less content, and a few more characters and maps
I grew up with the Raging Blast games like how others grew up on Tenkaichi 3. I never knew what those games were until they were being sold second hand for over $200 so I always just stuck with Raging Blast and I absolutely love those games with all my heart. My childhood was pretty much school, Dragon Ball Kai and then my little brother and I would boot up Raging Blast 2 and replay the fights from that episode and then have a few random fun ones. Fast forward to today, I've always stuck with the Dragon Ball franchise unlike my little brother and a few days before launch he comes up to me and asks what this new Sparking Zero is and I told him and now he's going back through all of the anime and is playing the new game alongside myself. Really funny how this new game is making us both really nostalgic about Raging Blast and the shows itself overall.
One thing you missed is that in the JP voices ver, a lot of the Raging Blast voicelines are re-used in Sparking Zero. Edit: This comment section is now a warzone. Tread with caution
@@christopherbrownington Well, technically Japanese is the original language and English is the dub. That’s why I was confused. Thanks for the clarification.
As someone who absolutely loved the entire Tenkaichi series and owned all 3 on PS2, I always wondered why I never liked Raging Blast that much, looking back now I just remember not liking the supers being on right stick and the graphical style, but this video helped to remind me of all the other things I forgot I hated about it lol like the gameplay just feeling slower and worse in general, thank you.
Bro 😭 the art style on the first Raging Blast was amazing. It still looks so clean. And it was also 60fps compared to the Tenkaichi’s 30. 2 on the other hand looked horrible and plasticky. And that’s just me, but I absolutely loved the special moves on the right stick.
@@davion4777 I was a big fan of the first Raging Blast and the RB2 *demo* was the moment I gave up on Dragon Ball games for a long time. Felt like the same thing but so much uglier.
Good gravy the dogging on raging blast is insane. I think each game built on the last one, and the love was there for those games. Sparking Zero is what it is today because of all the previous games.
Ah yes back in the day we played the shit out of Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and one day we found out there was a 3 and we wanted Dbz Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for our ps2 but never found it because we found out like 2 or 3 years after the game came out. But when we got a ps3 we got Raging Blast 2 and was so fucking fun (like 2 years before the end of that gen and the games where dirt cheap, it was great).
Raging Blast was the first game in the series that I played, and it might just be due to my stronger familiarity with it, but I actually feel like some of the the mechanics in that game are smoother and more responsive. Especially movement. With it being an arena fighter, movement is really important, and I always felt like I could confidently move around to retreat or flank my opponent in Raging Blast, whereas in Sparking Zero I often feel like I'm just kind of flailing around. Also, I can understand Raging Blast's pace feeling bad if you're coming from BT3, but I never felt like those games were too slow when I was playing them, and I honestly feel like Sparking Zero is needlessly fast paced. It might just be because I'm not a huge fighting game person, but I prefer the slightly more methodical feel of Raging Blast. I feel like I'm more able to queue up every next input in my head and flow a string of combos, whereas in Sparking Zero I spend so much time just desperately trying to keep up with everything blitzing all over the screen that I'm just happy to land a super attack half the time. I also VASTLY prefer Raging Blast's approach to different versions of characters; where you can customize a character's moveset to reflect different sagas/eras, or create a hybrid of them. You can have four different super attacks at once, which does so much to help with variety. I absolutely hate having like 20 versions of Goku in Sparking Zero. Raging Blast has one, and it covers everything from the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai to the end of the Buu Saga. Having every transformation be an individually selectable character rather than a sub-menu is NIGHTMARISHLY disorganized and inefficient. For a game that puts so much emphasis on its roster, its character select screen feels like an afterthought and is such a chore to use. The additional singleplayer modes in Raging Blast also went a long way for me. I'm not all that interested in competitive online multiplayer. I'd rather just have a big sandbox to use the characters in. If you don't count the Custom Battle mode (which I found incredibly disappointing by not being able to write your own dialogue) then Sparking Zero is very bare bones. I don't care about a story mode. If I wanted to play through the story I'd play Kakarot, or I'd just watch the show. Budokai 1 came out over 20 years ago. I don't need to fight Raditz again. I'd rather have new experiences with all my favorite characters from this huge roster. Galaxy Mode in RB2 wasn't great, but I like the concept of it a lot more than I do another goddamn story mode.
This is probably the best explanation for why someone would prefer Raging Blast over Tenkaichi I've heard, so I respect your opinion. But I have to disagree. As someone who started with BT2 & 3, I found personally RB1 & 2 to be a substantial downgrade. The lack of GT and OG DB characters was enough to turn me off when I was younger, but it's more than just that. In my opinion, the speed of the Tenkaichi games was kind of the point. The breakneck pace of everything when it came to movement, offensive, and defensive options gave the game a level of intensity that Raging Blast was never able to match. Tenkaichi felt like a full sprint, whereas Raging Blast was more like a light jog. The reduced movement speed combined with the larger stages makes the game too slow for me. Learning how to cancel my dashes in order to optimize my movement was so rewarding in Tenkaichi because there's a huge difference between a player who's mastered the movement and a player who hasn't. Some of the advanced tech is really hard to pull off. I didn't like how they changed the controls, and since there was no way to remap buttons, you were just stuck with them. This felt awkward after years of playing with the classic controls. Using the stick to use super moves also felt really lame in comparison to the button inputs in Tenkaichi. It was less tactile and satisfying. It was also too easy to have your finger accidentally slip and use the wrong move. I felt like Raging Blast dumbed down the gameplay and removed too many features. Stage destruction was completely removed. Giants were removed. Lock-on was removed. Blast stocks were removed, and everything was now balanced based on Ki, leading to insane super attacks and ultimate spam. The A.I. is noticeably easier compared to BT3, even when using the max computer capsule. The new additions didn't add any real depth and felt undercooked. While Tenkaichi has less polished mechanics on a technical level, the little nuances and glitches that they overlooked allowed the community to develop fun and interesting tech and play the game in ways the developers couldn't have thought of. The combo system was changed to a cancel-based system rather than the old system of characters having different rush chains. Wasn't a fan. The combos were more unique and varied in Tenkaichi. Just look up combo videos from BT3 compared to Raging Blast. It's no comparison, really. Raging Blast combos are boring. The game modes were also lacking. The World Tournament was the biggest offender, with them removing the ring-outs. Completely negated the entire point of the mode. Personally, I MUCH prefer having different versions of each character as needed, as it allows players to learn specifically what they're going up against with each version. To illustrate my point, in BT3 and Sparking Zero, Goku (Early) has Kaioken as a skill, which is extremely dangerous. This means that when I'm fighting this version of Goku, I know from the get-go that I need to watch his Blast Stock gauge and prepare to interrupt him if he attempts to activate it. However, if my opponent is Goku (Mid) I know that he does not have this ability, so I can relax a bit. Another example: SSJ Goku (Mid) has a skill that immediately powers him up to max. Very dangerous, have to watch out for that. SSJ Goku (End) doesn't have it, trading it for a skill that buffs his stats. While having different version of characters may seem like bloat, it allows for extra strategy and rewards game knowledge. In Raging Blast, you can pick whatever moves you want, so that preemptive thought process is just gone. I have to react to everything as it happens in-game instead of being able to strategize and plan around a character's moveset. To you, this is more efficient and refined. To me, it feels like it oversimplifies to the point of reducing complexity. The one saving grace about that system is that it lets you mix and match costumes. Using SSJ3 Goku with the Yardrat outfit is pretty cool. There are things the Raging Blast games did very well, and you're entitled to your opinion. I have a lot of nostalgia for them myself. But I wasn't shocked when RB2 never got a sequel. The skill gap is too small, which hurts the staying power and replayability. There isn't as much to really dig into, less to learn and discover. But if you want a simpler game that you can kick back and relax with, then Raging Blast is great.
@@jHounder You said all what i wanted to say 🙏 we can see a true Tenkaichi fan here, i was also disappointed by the combo in raging blast 2 😅.. if you try Square and Triangle (the multiple kick in the head) the opponent will be able to block your next move if you try to continue with Square.., that's why i prefer Tenkaichi 3, when you take Goku mid in Tenkaichi 3 and try Square and Triangle, Goku will give some kick in the head of the opponent and you will be able to continue your combo with Square 😁, that's also why i really love Tenkaichi 3, and hate raging blast 1 & 2.. ( I don't know if we still can do that in Sparking zero? 😢 )
I disagree. Raging blast changed the controls for no reason at all and was just annoying. I’m glad sparking zero went back to the original tenkaichi series controls. I do agreed that sparking zero is needlessly fast tho. Can’t even look at the cool attack animations. The speed makes it feel like the characters are just tackling each other
@@jHounder So this very much says more about my distaste for fighting games; coming at it as more of a player of RPGs and action-adventure games, but I do not enjoy needing to learn incredibly intricate and specific game mechanics. Combo chains, specific situational inputs, fucking unintentional quirks and glitches that just happen to be there. That makes me put down a game. I want the complexity to come from things like managing positioning and distance, knowing when to attack, defend, and retreat, resource management, and reacting to unpredictability rather than going through rehearsed rhythms and learning hundreds of specific combo strings. I want the fundamental tools I have to interact with the game to be simple and straightforward, but to have a ton of potential in how I can use them to express myself. I like that you don't know what a character you're facing can do right away. I like having to react on the fly and in the moment, rather than referencing a mental encyclopedia and doing the same dance I've practiced ad nauseam. Once I know what everyone can do and exactly how to handle them, that's when I get bored. That's the same reason I could never get into speedrunning. Doing the same thing over and over and over trying to perfect it. That's hell to me, man. I want to be faced with new, unpredictable challenges and use creative problem solving to face them. Raging Blast was the first DBZ game I played that made me feel like I was a character in the show and like I could use their powers and moveset to their full potential, without being limited by the game's scope or gatekept in the form of game mechanics akin to learning a new language. It just felt like a natural extension of myself. Like the way I got better at the game was by learning how to effectively use the tools at my disposal; not by learning what the tools even are in the first place. To me, Sparking Zero feels needlessly obtuse in comparison. I feel like the game's mechanics are challenging me more than the fights themselves are. These games aren't meant to be balanced, competitive or highly technical. That's what games like FighterZ are for. The Xenoverse games and Kakarot were too shallow for me, but Raging Blast hit just the right sweet spot.
Same here, me and my brother would play it a lot. I remember after using an Ultimate that there would always be a tiny bit of ki left and if you spammed that you could use the ult again right after the first 😅
Can't wait to watch this tomorrow. Hope you touch on the fact that Raging Blast 1's customisation was leaps and bounds ahead of Sparking Zero's. As much as I prefer the combat in 0, Raging Blast was a tonne of fun.
One thing I haven't heard talked about enough yet is that the signature moves in Raging Blast combined with the different combo routes allowed for a more robust combat system. While SZ's feels a lot less engaging.
I really liked the Raging Blast games, I preferred its combat to the other games, really got the hang of it, and I liked ssj3 vegeta. It's good that Sparking Zero is just as good as the previous games.
After playing the BT gamea, Raginf Blast was welcoming for me. Raging Blast 2 was alot of fun! Still have it on my PS3 and play it now and than. The near infinite combo chains that you can do are insane. But still Sparking Zero is the true successor to the BT games.
Raging blast 2 was my first dragon ball z game as a kid, at the time i was still very new to the series, so i was confused on why vegeta never went super saiyan 3 in other games or other media lol
I played a lot of RB1 back in the day and the one thing I prefer over it was the fact that you could customise the characters supers and abilities so you wouldn't need to have so many different versions of Goku for example. You could just customise his moveset with certain moves to be whatever era of Goku you wanted him to be. Also the minigame where you punch the punching machine from the World Tournament in the Buu saga was really funny.
I am genuinely surprised that people disliked Raging Blast. I absolutely loved the combat in that game; I played the online multiplayer until the community died.
@Flandrew RB2's combat far exceeded RB1's. Controls were better, and not just "slightly". Movement was fluid. Camera was better. Complex combos were way easier to do, and there were more of them in general. Even compared to BT3/SZ. Why do so many casuals ignore these things????? It's incredible how many people didn't even understand the combo system in RB2 - it was so easy, yet, playing Online, most people clearly struggled! 2:50 What?? Did you even play Episode mode fights??
This was definitely rushed out because of the hype. RB2 cancel combos and follow ups were so fun to learn. It's like if budokai 3 was done in a tenkaichi style
Saying the flow of combat saw a “slight improvement” between RB1 and RB2 has gotta be the understatement of the century 😭 There was MASSIVE combat improvement between them, RB1 was a dumbed down, much more basic BT3 whereas RB2 was on the same level and in some ways better than BT3 in terms of combat
I remember being so bummed out playing RB1 for all the changes. Cancels weren't a bad idea, but RB1 had so few options left already that it felt too limiting. RB2's followup system completely blew BT3's out of the water though, and worked perfectly with the signatures and cancels. Sparking Zero copying BT3's follow ups instead of adapting RB2's was a huge missed opportunity.
Now that the honeymoon phase is over. Sparking Zero is a great game but lacks a lot of small details like good ost, bodies being destroyed, tournament mode having a small number of brackets, no juke box. the custom battle was cool but we needed more. This was obviously made more for the multiplayer scene than for people like me that enjoyed the hours spent in single player stuff. Once you do everything, the game has nothing left to offer.
I also seem to remember there were options for a more pale yellow supersayian hair color vs the more saturated gold. Nice touch and call to the later designs of the sayians hair
Raging blast 2 was the first dragonball game i played & it's what got me to watch the entire dragonball series as i knew about dragonball Z but only got to watching at my grandparents house as they had all the kids channels on a sky box but i only got to visited them during the summer
This was a great comparison. I still absolutely LOVE raging blast I have a special nostalgia for it because of a friend I had at the time. Good stuff 😊
I enjoyed Raging Blast 1 online , Raging blast 2 had a significant issue of having the super armour item but not the pairing of the Amour break item so item mode was unfun super spam, so item MP was a no go, and i found the visuals of RB1 to just be more fitting than the oiled RB2 looks, Sparking Zero crushes both of them tho
3:10 This was actually used in Budokai 2 and 3 before being brought back for Sparking Zero. The game expecting you to know how it works as if you’ve played B3 before, though, is odd. 7:04 To be fair, he was still pretty new when this game came out. “Yo Son Goku and his Friends Return!”, or Tarble’s debut, was only a few years before this game released.
I wish sparking zero took the signature skills system from RB. I don't think RB is to great of a game, but that one mechanic is a good idea that should've stuck around.
Really bothers me when people are like "Oh my God, its been so long! Sparking Zero is the first tenkaichi game since Tenkaichi 3!" No dude... Raging Blast 1+2 definitely deserve recognition. 4 super attacks (up down left right on right stick made moves so easy to do it was awesome), signature skills with all of them being unique for each character, and the awesome art design. Before Sparking, I'd say that Raging Blast 1 is easily the best looking Dragon Ball game of all time. Raging Blast 2 looks a little silly in terms of visuals but easily makes up for it with the gameplay and roster.
The one thing I enjoyed about the raging blast series is that they only had one version of Goku (adult) and you can just change the moveset depending what saga he’s in. I wish new games did that
Raging Blast 2 was an amazing, underrated title that came out at a bad time, sandwiched between a mediocre RB1 and an abysmal Ultimate Tenkaichi, and during a time when the Dragon Ball renaissance was long past its peak and fans were starting to feel franchise fatigue from all the yearly releases.
It was tough to be a Dragonball fan during that era because there wasn't any new content and the Raging Blast series didn't perform well. Battle of Gods and Xenoverse really turned things around

Sparking Zero as a whole is a massive success, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience playing it. That being said, the character selection menu kinda sucks. This is prolly the most amount of nitpicking, but BT3 character selection menu to me was more exciting, and less intrusive. I think the biggest aspect to this is that in BT3 if you wanted to start transformed, you’d select a sub-character underneath the base form of that character. Whereas in Sparking Zero (in the menu), every form is its own character, and to me, it just seems like it was Bandai’s way of padding the list.
My favorite thing about the raging blast games was how transformations were different for characters depending on the outfit. If you went super saiyan in gokus outfit from the frieza saga, your hair would look like it did in the frieza saga compared to the more polished super saiyan from later on. I also loved how if you transformed as trunks with a ponytail to ssj grade 3, then went back to base, you would not go back to the ponytail (unlike sparking zero). The attention to detail was just so beautiful in RB.
It had problem but I loved the RB series so much. The ranked was miserable at times though. I remember people on ranked wouldn't even bother doing character change clashes. After cutting my palms on analog sticks I don't miss the spinning.
Graphically raging blast 1 was the best looking dragon ball game I’ve ever played… it literally looked like the anime… until you got to the actual combat portion. That’s when you found out how stiff everything was. As for the new clashes, that’s actually recycled from budokai 3 (1 of the best dragon ball fighting games of all time). I really didn’t like how raging blast played but it looked pretty good & still does
do you plan making videos about the many scooby doo games? I remember them being so good and fun, specially unmasked and spooky swamp edit: also, another idea of videos could be about the old "games for windows" that we used to buy as physical media lol love your videos, they bring me so much nostalgia!
I still have my Raging Blast 2, the game is amazing and I really wish we got Raging Blast 3 :/ what's also good about raing blast 2, it had all the members of cooler's armored squad, Hatchiyack and Tarble as characters. I hope they are added to sparking zero
I really didn’t remember that Raging Blast was released just 2 after BT3, its crazy, the graphic upgrade was insane (even if I think Burstlimit graphic was even better), but was pretty much more boring and with less things to do in confront of BT3
To be honest, I played all the DBZ games on PS2, PS3 and PS4/5.. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy SpZero as much as I expected, the character selection screen is horrible, why have multiple Goku like in Classic? Simply use 1 Goku and change the powers, Or every Goku outfit was equivalent to Goku Early, or medium, etc. Another thing that I found much inferior compared to RB2, the rush skills take a long time to finish the animation! It was really cool to press the buttons and the character do the attack and finish with triangle (power in the face- Goku SS3) instead of watching a video. Have you tried facing Omega Shenron in SpZero? ALL of his Super Skills are very long videos, the first skill takes longer to finish the animation than animation of other ULTI skill. Sure, SpZero got a lot faster and brought the characters we already had from BT3, a short but very cool story mode and a lot of nostalgia, but as I said... *FOR ME* , it could be better, It looks more like a polished BT3 than what would be the equivalent of a BT4. I'm not giving hate, never, but it's my opinion as a consumer and fan, yes I also bought it in pre-sale It even seems to me that the BT4 Team (mod) is much more advanced in their project, that thing really does look like a BT4! With all the speed and fluidity of BT3 and very dynamic battles instead of video TO EVERYTHING even for a normal skill like Omega Shenron's.. And finally, what did they do with the Versus (offline)!? Just one fighting scenario is very disappointing. Sorry for the outburst, but the expectation ended up frustrating everything, since in the end, it ended up being something inferior to what I expected. I'm not saying it's bad, but I expected more! I thought they would take everything positive from BT3 and combine it with the positives from RB2 and make the definitive version of everything, not one more step from something that was much earlier. In the end, FOR ME, it's a very cool game but they're overestimating it too much! 8/10
I love Dragon Ball Sparking Zero But it would be so hard to convince me that SZ combat system is better than RB 2, the combos are also way more vast and pulished in RB 2 than SZ, on SZ if you control one character's combos, then you will know it for the rest of the cast, I was hoping they would do a mixture between RB 2 combat system and tenkaichi 3, but SZ is 90% the same tenkaichi 3 combat system, it does not have a meaningful change on it
Raging Blast's 2's combo system is so good I was really hoping they'd just copy it and keep BT3's movement and defense systems. They could have even just added a handful more followups chains/branches that could loop back into rushes for a simple approximation. So many things they could have done with them but they didn't do anything. Basically no one uses the followups in BT or SZ because, as they are, they're too predictable and functionally combo enders. Letting every character constantly recycle their rush strings off everything was my major complaint with the BT series' combo system, and RB was able to address that by limiting that with cancels. In RB2 that forced creative use of its followups and cancels to use more rush chains.
@@EternalDahaka You are completely right, that recycling combo thing they have been doing on all the BT/Sparking Series is something that I have always frowned upon, and the fact they didn't change it a bit in 17 years, and that they could easily copy the wonderful combo system we had on RB 2 disappoints me a lot.
Rb2 is my favourite Db Game. But some things are really bad. Like Ginyus Body Switch. In other games you switch the bodys with your opponent and you can use his attacks, but in Rb2 you can switch bodys with goku and you still have your own special attacks (Ginyu doesn't have much special attacks). The Galaxy Mode is weird, I mean every DB Game (idk if every db game has story) a story but Rb2 not. The variant of Characters are not that cool. Variants in Budokai 1 has own costume, like Goku and Vegeta have jackets and in Rb2 they just have recoulers (most of the Characters)
Good video, but the roster comparison is somewhat unfair. If you don’t count all the transformations in sparking zero (which were not counted for raging blasts) it’s not a very big difference. Also no mention of the sparking zero episode mode containing relatively little content compared to raging blast games. Far fewer total battles, and many many more fights against the same characters, often using the same character. Like Goku Black episodes are all battles against the same couple opponents
I didnt get to play DB Raging Blast. The demos was as close as i got to the series so Its great to see comparisons between The Raging Blast Series and Sparking Zero.
One thing that would of been cool in my own opinion is if they added the feature when you use a ultimate move on a opponent they get disintegrated like completely disappear in sparking 0
Man Raging Blast 2 was probably my favorite DBZ fighting game. It was bothering me so much that no one was talking about this game. Had me feeling like I was the ONLY person who played them.
i still prefer tenkaichi 3 gameplaywise. raging blast tho still had my favourite thing about dragonball games: counter supers, shit are so cool. if only rush supers weren't so short i would liked more than sparking zero
Sparking zero's what if branching paths are similar to supersonic warriors 2 on ds. In that game if you meet certain conditions then that allowed your character to power up.
I have some small issues with Raging Blast 2, especially the lack of DB feel. But man did I have a lot of amazing memories with this game and the gameplay was so fun.
Bro this element was also in Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and 3. Idk but its weird that they didn't include it in this game.. 0_0
I also miss destroying the planets like in the old games whenever there is a beam clash or you miss with one of the ultimates like the Spirit Bomb.
@@RGInquisitoru can destroy namek in sparking zero but u gotta use 3 ultimates to do it so it never happens
@@RGInquisitor This can happen, but only in Namek scenario... because there is no destroyed earth scenario.
I remember making a kaioken focused goku
Ki was red and all moved where related to the skill
And on top of that the actual kaioken could stack 3 times

Tenkaichi 2 has been one of those games with music that's just permanently stuck with me as a persistent ear worm. Dance to the Tower being one of the most prominent ones.
It warms my heart that you have that silly RB2 connection that you've kept for so long! 😁
I really wish we could customize super and ultimate moves in Sparking Zero. That was by far my favorite part of playing Raging Blast.

@@niksin9941 fr man, same here at first. I main Cooler (not metal) and I really wanted to use his base forms energy blast on his final form. And similarly I really wish I could swap out Golden Frieza’s “no hard feelings” attack for some sort of rush combo.

All of that was I. The tenkaichi games as well. And now in sparking zero as well. (With sway working differently now tho. And a few other details)
@@sonic-bb You cant mix all three in Sparking ZERo or bT3. This was only possible in raging blast because you had to do it manually

Raging blast was the sparking zero before sparking zero.
Sparking Zero isn’t smooth at all, movement and input delay need serious work
This is probably the best explanation for why someone would prefer Raging Blast over Tenkaichi I've heard, so I respect your opinion.

I hope you review all the odd DBZ game we got on the 360-ps3 era between Raging Blast 2 and Xenoverse 1 !!!
Chaospunishment is my favorite example to show why RB2 combat so great!
Saying the flow of combat saw a “slight improvement” between RB1 and RB2 has gotta be the understatement of the century 😭
There was MASSIVE combat improvement between them, RB1 was a dumbed down, much more basic BT3 whereas RB2 was on the same level and in some ways better than BT3 in terms of combat
The lack of GT characters hurt me the most in Raging Blast. I know it didn't have the name Tenkaichi on it but damn i missed Gogeta SS4
@@issacsven3709 fuck GT they gave us "plan to eradicate the sayians" and Hatchiyack
@@Requiem8040 GT gave us SS4 Goku, SS4 Vegeta and SS4 Gogeta. All is forgiven
4:34 who approved this line? diddy?
This was a great comparison. I still absolutely LOVE raging blast I have a special nostalgia for it because of a friend I had at the time. Good stuff 😊
I love you! I had just commented requesting you make this comparison.
Am watching this because I can't afford Sparking Zero atm lmao
also Raging Blast always gonna have a special place in my heart
Do a video of the Batman Arkham Games!
Nah.
Loved seeing burst limit and super dragon ball z in your video, I feel like they’re forgotten
Raging Blast was a damn good game, I Remember how hard was for the 10 year old me to get Vegeta and Broly SSJ3
The one thing I enjoyed about the raging blast series is that they only had one version of Goku (adult) and you can just change the moveset depending what saga he’s in. I wish new games did that
Honestly, i prefer Goku's Super Saiyan hair in Raging Blast rather than his bananas on Sparking Zero xD, other than that Sparking Zero is great
I agree man they don’t want to make it that way anymore
Yes, I miss the cute SSJ hair😢
Raging Blast 2 was an amazing, underrated title that came out at a bad time, sandwiched between a mediocre RB1 and an abysmal Ultimate Tenkaichi, and during a time when the Dragon Ball renaissance was long past its peak and fans were starting to feel franchise fatigue from all the yearly releases.
It was tough to be a Dragonball fan during that era because there wasn't any new content and the Raging Blast series didn't perform well. Battle of Gods and Xenoverse really turned things around
@@po72644lol thats wild saying battle of gods and xeno was a fresh air when there both the worse games ive ever played. Raging blast 2 and budokai had alot to offer compared to newgen games only sparking actualy had alot to gameplay. Fighterz is also unbalanced garbage. Lol idk how people can complain about the pacing. Old games and idc who whines cause there taste is usualy horrible if i had to choose between this garbage unbalanced new gen gaming vs old gens id happily go back to thosr happy times
@@GrimreaperedgeXenoverse 1? pretty bad, xv2 is good though and still has one of the best ongoing support.
And.. I'm pretty sure the guy meant the movie BoG, not the game, doubt any person thinks that's good.
Despite my hate for FighterZ, it's suprisingly balanced, you just gotta know how to utilize YOUR character's strengths against the enemy's weaknesses.
It's funny you say that too, because the BT games have always been unbalanced, so comparing the current 'unbalanced new gen *gaming*' to old games is redundant.

What's with the random addition about FighterZ, it wasn't even part of the conversation.
90% of your comment is you adding stuff to complain. They didn't even say Xenoverse and the (possible mention as a game)BoG was good, they just said it turned things back around, sparked DBZ gaming back to life
@@greygartm4330 blocked i have 0 time for new gen idiots keep tryna to similiar 2 eras of gaming oh man there both unbalanced but whats the difference with ignorant responses. Also i do not care what you correct that insult is long over done proving you have nothing to add but stupidity. Dur budokai was unbalanced dur im slow so only thing i can compare is this game is unbalanced and so is this game or old games was unbalanced and so was new gen want to know the difference new gen games are 10x unbalance and easy to take alot more advantage of then older games. @@greygartm4330 also fighterz aint balanced get out my face. We gonna say sparking balanced when all we see is super characters? Fighterz litterly takes no skill and all it is kods abusing c assist and dlc characters lol there is no get around what playstyle or character strength and weaknesses its meta sheeping. Broly has the easiest combos in the game and can easy tod by just spamming his super in a loop fusion characters are also op. 7:06 "who tf is dore? dore the explorea" bro that took me out LMAOOOOOOOOO
Goku's namek saga SSJ hairstyle is better in RB2 than it is in SZ.
but he has a full demon scream transformation tho?
Raging blast online servers are still up, of course you'll struggle to find people unless you boost.
I might need to do that soon in case they close the servers for RB1 because the last trophy I need is an online related one lol
Smashing people into walls and unique moves should come back
Don't tell people Sparking Zero has even more in common with Raging Blast than it does with Tenkaichi 3, people will get mad. lol
As much as I love Sparking Zero, I'm begging for a PC release of Raging Blast 2
I have it on PC with RPCS3, been playing it at 4K it’s AMAZING I will always love that game 🥲
Sparking! Zero Is Exactly What I Wanted BT & RB Got Together & Made A Badass Baby🤣
Rip Akira Toriyama & Evb Who Couldn’t Make It To This🖤🤝
My favorite thing about the raging blast games was how transformations were different for characters depending on the outfit.
4:32 ain’t no party like a dragon party
those raging blast fades were so satisfying...i always started in base form and transformed soon as i started getting whooped😂
I remember them being so good and fun, specially unmasked and spooky swamp
edit: also, another idea of videos could be about the old "games for windows" that we used to buy as physical media lol
love your videos, they bring me so much nostalgia!
I used to love raging blast. Sparkling zero really helped bring back a lot of the nostalgia from that game.
I still have my Raging Blast 2, the game is amazing and I really wish we got Raging Blast 3 :/
what's also good about raing blast 2, it had all the members of cooler's armored squad, Hatchiyack and Tarble as characters. I hope they are added to sparking zero
Raging Blast 2 was the best. The new games have too many effects and hud elements and there is just way too much shit happening on screen.
I really didn’t remember that Raging Blast was released just 2 after BT3, its crazy, the graphic upgrade was insane (even if I think Burstlimit graphic was even better), but was pretty much more boring and with less things to do in confront of BT3
I only heard and played raging blast growing so I’ll always love it, being able to dodge each individual attack was so satisfying
I'm not giving hate, never, but it's my opinion as a consumer and fan, yes I also bought it in pre-sale
It even seems to me that the BT4 Team (mod) is much more advanced in their project, that thing really does look like a BT4!
Love this video. I will definitely have to get Sparking Zero.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that kept thinking about raging blast 2 while playing sparkling zero
I didnt get to play DB Raging Blast. The demos was as close as i got to the series so Its great to see comparisons between The Raging Blast Series and Sparking Zero.
Raging blast 1 did have tournament CPUs tho
Sparking Zero really needs to fix the impact and camera shakes and physics of gettin hit so hard u fly away but only ur spine is moving
Ok so you wanted broken analog sticks instead of good timing for beam struggles. Got it.
Mannn RB2 was fire
One thing I loved about raging blast 2 is that you could charge your ki with metal cooler
One thing I like about the RB Series was that you could eliminate early-mid-end by having costumes+multiple supers for a single character
I have some small issues with Raging Blast 2, especially the lack of DB feel. But man did I have a lot of amazing memories with this game and the gameplay was so fun.
1:30 Vegeta holding his arm signifying he was hurt was a hilarious little detail
Finally an actual fair comparison instead of Comparing a 3d arena fighter to a fricking 2d competitive fighting game.
