Maybe it's because i grew with the game? But it consider IW much easier than Budokai 3. I could beat any character in Z difficulty without any item in IW without major problems but the very first mission of Budokai 3 is a pain to me, even at the easiest difficulty... I think Infinite World was intended to be Budokai 4 considering all the mechanics that are there from 1, 2 and 3! I loved when Dimps Had Dragon Ball in the gaming industry. I feel like that they actually did their best to grasp everything from the Manga/Anime and give us what we wanted and that is a full exploration of Dragon Ball in all their games!
Dimps actually still plays a huge role in the Dragon Ball gaming landscape, they developed not just the Xenoverse series, but simultaneously maintain the mobile game Dragon Ball Legends, the Super Dragon Ball Heroes arcade machines (Which are being replaced by Super Divers later this year) and The Breakers- They never left
As someone who had Another Road: Fucking hell that game was such a steal. Got it back in the day for 10 bucks, played the living shit out of it. Had a friend living nearby who also had it and we played together a lot. It was REALLY fun that they expanded in what-if material with that game and showed how they thought the Majin Buu events would've been like in Future Trunks' timeline, much earlier than Dragon Ball Super did. Also gave Future Gohan a lotta development, dude even got the Z-sword and uses it in combat!
it is a cool concept but in retrospect the "future trunks what if saga" eventually just gets dumbed down to a slightly altered retelling of the majin buu saga but with weird time traveling shenanigans mixed in with movie characters (+ bardock and future gohan) thrown into the story just for the sake of it. The game fails at really explaining why a lot of the things happen in the story besides just being fan service. I'm not complaining, it was really cool in concept but when you really look at it objectively, some of the story feels lazy. Just my opinion though!
Infinite World is the definitive Budokai Experience imo. Shin Budokai 2 is pretty great too. I think those two are what people should continue to play today. Burst Limit was a bit underwhelming but I loved the art direction.
i want to agree with this and say IW is budokai 4, but i can't fully agree knowing that IW took away some features (beam clashes being a big one) AND characters that were present in budokai 3. It really feels more like a budokai 3.5 to me

Hell in an interview he even admitted that he thought Super Saiyan 3 was Super Saiyan 2, he just doesn't keep up with all the stuff. As far as the Buu saga he didn't really want to keep the series going past cell and he was kind of just winging that one. He's not a Flawless Storyteller but Dragon Ball was a pretty damn good manga and I don't think him forgetting a character or making a less than Stellar Arc makes him a poor storyteller.

Infinite World always felt like the most competitive budokai. Learning to cancel a charge attack opens up the opportunity to just clown on folks and juggle them around. Favorite character has to be Krillin for this reason.

I just don't like Infinite World because it's the exact same but they slimmed it down a lot by removing beam clashes, the warp kamehameha/final flash, and the AI is SUPER hard to beat.

Infinite World is much closer to what I'm looking for in a Dragon Ball game, than any of the other games in the Budokai series. My main gripe with Budokai 3 in particular has to be the Dragon Rush mechanic, which Infinite World thankfully removed. I don't want the action to grind to a complete halt, just so I can play some rock paper scissors.
removing dragon rush was nice, but can i just say FUCK the burst mode in IW. Being able to have super armor and spam Z-Vanishes/Special moves with no limit until your ki gauge runs out is absolutely nuts. You basically become an unstoppable monster for a short period of time if you know how to utilize it well (The CPU looovess taking advantage of it)
Shin Budokai 1 and 2 for PSP were my first Dragon Ball games, they were for me like the Budokai trilogy for previous generations of fans who I never played for age reasons. I still remember the soundtracks, the character's renders and their iconic movesets. This video made me want to play it again, it was a pleasant blast from the past.

Shin Budokai Another Road just feels so fast and speedy to play. Even if the gameplay is a little repetitive the base combat is so speedy and fun that it isn't too much of a chore.
infinite world is so slept on mechanically, not sure most people even realize you can special cancel and chain combos to a nice degree and it took me years but i finally figured out how to make yourself invincible like the computer does sometimes so much tech in the game that’s slept on, underrated 🐐
Infinite World deserves so much more love! Soundtrack was great (most taken from Budokai 3), roster was great, and the miniganes were so much fun. The story mode was nice, and covered GT as well!
I had all of these games growing up gameplay wise infinite world was the best but I did like the concept of Trunks Boo Ark from Shin Budokai Another Road They did it before Dragonball Super and DBZ Kakarot
I love how ultimates work in shin budokai 1 and 2. There you have to connect with the technique itself instead of a startup hit. Furthermore, some characters can perform special follow ups if you have enough ki.
It has been like 15 years and im still mad Burst Limit never got finished, or got a sequel. It had soooo much potential imo, I spent days just practicing my combos after school
Since I didn't know they existed before your videos, I'll tell you after I find copies of all of them. Of course, I didn't have a PS2 back when these games were new and didn't play that many games back then because I was busy with other things.
I recall pre-ordering Infinite World at my local EB Games but it never arrived. I was able to randomly find a copy for sale in a store located hours away whilst in the area. It seemed that so few copies were made available in Australia.
I liked the Shin Budokai games for what they were, though I never unlocked all the forms in Another Road. I also liked Infinite World though I wish it had more content, like some extra game modes and a all the character from the previous Budokai games.
Tenkaichi also had a psp spinoff called Tenkaichi tag team its unique and I grew up playing Tenkaichi 2 and it feels just like the console games except with battles having 2 character on each side actively fighting
Infinite world is basically the final patch of Budokai, if you want to play Budokai it has the the best gameplay and design overall, it had years to refine and build off all the previous ones... A great game.

I played all of those , way more than the actual Budokai series. At the time, I only had Saga and Budokai 2 (which is arguably the worse of the series, still played the hell out of it) and went directly to Budokai Tenkaichi 1 (and it was way later than most people, probably around 2008 or 2009). I played Shin Budokai after I hacked my PSP (I was a poor kid, don't judge) and I got Infinite World after a friend literally gave it to me because he hated the combat system (he had only ever played Budokai Tenkaichi and couldn't get into the more 2D system of Budokai, we were dumb teenagers that liked flashy fights) and played the hell out of it. To this day, I actually never played Budokai 3, I don't really see the point when Infinite World is so similar. I also barely tried Burst Limit, it was so weird to release a game that seemed so dated (not on the graphical front, it looked amazing) on a new generation after Budokai Tenkaichi 3. Also, f*ck that Syn Shenron fight, literally took me hours.

I prefer Budokai 3 over Infinite World. Although, I appreciate some of the additions made in IW.
I played all of those , way more than the actual Budokai series. At the time, I only had Saga and Budokai 2 (which is arguably the worse of the series, still played the hell out of it) and went directly to Budokai Tenkaichi 1 (and it was way later than most people, probably around 2008 or 2009). I played Shin Budokai after I hacked my PSP (I was a poor kid, don't judge) and I got Infinite World after a friend literally gave it to me because he hated the combat system (he had only ever played Budokai Tenkaichi and couldn't get into the more 2D system of Budokai, we were dumb teenagers that liked flashy fights) and played the hell out of it. To this day, I actually never played Budokai 3, I don't really see the point when Infinite World is so similar. I also barely tried Burst Limit, it was so weird to release a game that seemed so dated (not on the graphical front, it looked amazing) on a new generation after Budokai Tenkaichi 3.
Also, f*ck that Syn Shenron fight, literally took me hours.
