I've always felt that was what the Cell Games should have been. More of a survival/single player raid sort of deal against Cell. @@JohnnyFish971the thing is these maps are just aesthetically good looking. We don’t even have a normal tournament of power map. Or destructible maps like the cell games or world tournament. It would be cool if these maps could be destroyed by large scale attacks like beam clashes and turn into open fields. The ice map is also a wide area with water, and mountains, it’s just these sort of maps that seem like a good map.
Plus the underground section in the Battle of Gods movie (in Xenoverse too) was a neat place. I really hope we get more stages further down the road, hell even different "island" cluster locations like Kame House would be cool.
Some of this could have even been used for split screen. The space one is just a ship in space with a planet in the background, and if they made the spaceship indestructible it wouldn't use much resources.
Personally, the obscure playable characters was one of my favorite parts of Tenkaichi 3. If anything, I hope that unknown whackos somehow manage to come back. Especially Fasha, my beloved.
I've had the most fun in sparking zero with the random characters like yajirobe, sopovich, chiaotzu so I really want some more random original dragon ball and filler characters
@MorgothGamingTrove not in this game, meta characters have a clear cut advantage. You're setting yourself up to take Ls if you character doesn't have insta spark, especially on ranked singles.
I do feel the story mode is bit flawed/ lackluster. Yes we've played through the same story 1000 times already but it is a major game mode for me. Other than that, they bloody damn nailed it! Now I just have to get good enough to actually beat the alternate win conditions lol
@@leew5647 Probably that. I know that Kakarot exists but holding out hope for the sequel of Sparking Zero adapting Goku's story more faithfully with its combat.
I'd say my main issue with the story is how many fake what-if parts there are. I just did Gohan's story and there are so many times where you win, get a small victory narration and then nothing, you have to go redo the fight and wait around for the invisible timer to run out to keep going. Not that the proper what-if paths are bad, getting surprises like Gohan being involved in the Black arc are great fun.
You’ll enjoy it a lot better when you do get good enough. I think the story mode is deliberately rushed because it’s like “you’ve done this a million times, get through this quick then play the what ifs”. I felt like the narration and cinematic were more detailed in the what ifs. There are two whole, fantastic arcs in Goku’s story: one by siding with piccolo and beating Raditz quickly and one by siding with Krillin then beating Raditz quickly. They were longer than the actual saiyan arc and incredibly fun to me seeing those stories play out.
My only issue is the sound and music. BT2 had one of the most memorable soundtracks in my childhood and the sound effects of ki blast and melee was closer to the anime.
BT2 music was immediately ear worming in my brain from the first time I stopped playing. I can't remember any of the SZ music and I played it for a couple of hours earlier today. It's like they took a 'cinematic' mindset where the music is great but it's not allowed to stand out and be noticed, as not to detract from the experience somehow.
I think the intro having the music straight from the anime is very symbolic. The games have always been treated as sepperate entities in universe as it should. But Budokai Tenkaichi is honestly one of the big reasons the series stayed in peoples minds long after the anime’s end in that decade long official content drought. Giving Criware the time and funds to polish that formula to the max and put all the love they could possibly fit into a game that is miraculously only 26 gb made something truly speacial. The Super theme being used is a medal o honor that this game is just as important to the series as the anime, and does Toriyamas vision exponential levels of justice.
Sparking Zero has reawakened my love for Dragon Ball. I didn't really watch the show growing up because my parents thought it was too violent, but I experienced the show/game hanging out at friends houses growing up through the Budokai games. All in all as 30 year old man this game is exactly what I imagined as a kid a futuristic Dragon Ball game would play and look like 10/10

The original 3 budokai game had far better controls and mechanics than the tenkaichi series and this game seems to lean further into the original mechanics than the tenkaichi mechanics. That is a good thing imo.
The level of nostalgia when I see BT1 or BT3 ps2 graphics is insane! I bought both kakarot and sparking zero and once I'm done with kakarot i'm so excited to dive into Sparking zero!
I’m playing both at the same time and I’ve already finished kakarot. Definitely a good combo. Kakarot fills in for the story you don’t get to see in sparking zero, and zero has a versus mode.

couple things: 1: i kinda wish some costumes also came with multiple colors (such as cell with the blue coloring of a cell jr. or kid goku with his early gi) 2: some stages are still missing. notably hell, space, and the glacier.
Man some of the missing characters were one of my favorites in Tenkaichi 3, like the 4 star dragon, devilman, king piccolo, paikon (or paikun or however you want to pronounce it) and super 17. We had kid gohan great ape (didnt all saiyan characters were able to become great apes?), android 8, tao (and cyborg tao), nam, pilaf machine, arale, blue, cooler soldier, the female saiyan, kid chichi, and grandpa gohan which are clearly missing. (Garlic Jr base form too) I am not complaining, I just hope we could get those in a DLC: OG Dragon Ball DLC, GT DLC, and Super Hero DLC
@@Yung.jamal_ Yeah at least King Piccolo, he is kinda important in og Dragon Ball... like we even have the ultimate attack from goku that kills him and we dont even have him
I'm sure it was already mentioned but I thought I'd bump it up at it was reported that the limitations for local split-screen are to remain as such because of the lack of power on the Xbox Series S. It also doesn't let both players pick the same character in split-screen as the developers said it was a limitation simply because it was supposed to be a single player focused game.
Satisfying is the perfect way to say it. its not complete unless they bring back all the maps and characters they left out. also there are a few gameplay menu and match setting issues that need to be addressed but its definitely feasible to bring this game to its dream completed status
Honestly, the only issue I have with SZ is that the campaign is split into each characters rather than the arcs - I'd much rather just play through all the fights within an arc than just what one person did.
Yeah that’s also something I didn’t like. It’s cool at first until you realize “ok so Goku had like 1 fight during Android saga and now we’re on Cell and then it’s over sick”
I agree. All I wanted was a story mode like in Budokai Tenkaichi 2 with a few new arcs and the new combat. I also liked the characters leveling up because it was another way to show how the characters got stronger from fight to fight. You could also decide which characters you gave stronger items. It was great.
I don't like that certain versions of characters are missing. For instance, GT Vegeta is only SSJ4 in Sparking Zero, with no base form GT Vegeta who can transform into SSJ, then go into SSJ4, like they have with GT Goku. And I find that odd, because they do have a model for him already in the game via Baby Vegeta. Just slap a jacket on him and boom, base form GT Vegeta. And that could also be perfect for the in-game store, because base form GT Vegeta can have an alternate costume with the legendary Toriyama mustache!
@@jagtech490 I have the distinct memory of seeing base GT Vegeta playable... But looking it up it was on Infinite World, not the Tenkaichi series... it's weird seeing a character/form from that game that ISN'T on the absolute fanservice heaven that is BT3.
@@jagtech490 No offense, but one of the dumbest takes, lol. "Well it was never on the roster before, so might as well never be." "It'll just take up a character slot." Like bruh... Seriously. We already have 15 Gokus that fight the exact same. Why not one more Vegeta. Not to mention the fact that Sparking Zero seriously dropped the ball on the character selection screen, because it's a mess.
It's interesting that you skipped over the raging blast games as they're also apart of the tenkaichi series since there's quite a few effects that are from that. Like when an opponent is enveloped by an ultimate ki attack, all of the shots are one-to-one from Raging Blast 2. I see Sparking Zero as fusion of Tenkaichi 3 and Raging Blast 2 than just a sequel to T3.
Get why he did though. Zero is a Direct Sequel/Reboot. The OG Tenka'ichi games are all Sparking! games going by the OG names. Tenka'ichi 1 = Sparking! Tenka'ichi 2 = Sparking! Neo Tenka'ichi 3 = Sparking! Meteor Though I'd say this counts as a reboot since they retitled it Dragon Ball rather than Z.
While this game is amazing, we have to admit one of it's few problems, the character select menu (You know where you select your characters) *SUCKS* look i love this game, but it's a harsh truth that's a horrible character select menu.
It’s due to the sheer amount of characters, but I agree.. wish they’d clean it up a bit.. they treat every transformation as its own character like Battle of Z or XV2 instead of being a drop down selection menu like in the old games..
while I didn't expect dragonball stuff to be in it from the begining, I really would like to see a dlc/expansion which does just the main story highlights for people unfamiliar with it, and like, include silly things like the dude who turns people into carrots, arale the only character to have beaten goku, and y'know, everything from granpa gohan to chi chi, launch, ranfan, heck baba as well. I'd also like to see new locations based on dragonball as well, like the mushroom forest, the campervan bulma uses, and other iconic locations like the mountain that is on fire until roshi puts it out. also, krillen needs a super transformation where he internalizes kai-o-ken x10 so that there are no red flames and he just increases his arm and leg size like roshi. when he does this, he needs to grow hair like ssj3.
This game is just spectacular. All those years waiting for a new game in this series was worth it. On Steam alone there are over 100k people playing. This actually made the game the biggest fighting game launch of all time. That just shows how much this game was anticipated. Heck, there was at least 90k people playing the early access. Another great element too the franchise is modding. There have been so many mods out there for these games. And less then 24 hours after the early access launched. Modding on the game began. Starting with skin changes too straight up replacing characters. So modding for SZ will be wild as heck. 15:10 I do agree that this game needs levels of support as well. Not just Kakorot but also on the levels of Fighterz and maybe even Xenoverse 2. Hopefully that will be the case.
13:32 it was actually because in past games when you did multiplayer they’d have to make maps a bit smaller or make the colours less vibrant or take little things out maps (this was said by the way) and they didn’t want the game to look bad when you played with your friend so they picked one map and it was this one since there is basically nothing in there Edit: I think this stuff only happened in the tenkaichi and raging blast series but it might’ve also been a thing in xenoverse 2 idrk
Which came across to me as, "we don't want to be criticized for the downgraded graphics, and since we can't cut split screen entirely, we gave you the bare minimum - and then when we have the stats saying nobody played split screen we can justifiably not implement it moving forward."
That excuse is really not a good one. There's a mod for PC already that lets you do local co op on any map, and after using it myself with a friend earlier it's a tonne of fun on all of the maps.
@@kyrusxi Yeah, but that is on PC, where the capabilities of the system are almost infinite. The game also came out in Xbox series S, which is an underpowered system, and they had to universally cut it because of that.
@@kyrusxi Yeah, take it from me, who went from One X (superior version of the Xbox One), to a Series S. The jump in quality and general power and frames was immediate, my eyes straight up had to adjust to the new difference. No idea what the guy you replied to was talking about with "underpowered". Only difference between it and an X is smaller storage, lack of universal 4k, and no disc drive. Maybe it's a bit weaker power-wise, but it's still leagues above the Xbox One to an almost jarring degree.
It's certainly is top notch. My biggest issue right now is the back button backing fully to the main menu. I.E going into the shop, but if you want to go to customize you are set back to outside kami house again and have to watch the animation again. Other than that game is near perfect.
Menus are the one thing they fumbled hard There’s also how you can’t retry battles in Story mode unless you die so if you’re trying to do the time limit What If branches and you fail without dying you have to hit Next, wait until the next cutscene lets you exit out, then go back into the old fight (which takes ages cuz navigating the story mode map is unexplainably slow), start the fight and then skip like 2 cutscenes
As someone who's been playing BT3 and 2 consistantly ever since the release of both (ps2 back in the days and pc émulation nowadays) when istarted playing SZ on "Classic" controls i immediately managed to familiarise myself with the combat and get comfy enough to enjoy the fresh experience and after 20h now of playtime ican easily say that this game is a true love letter for us fans of the BT trilogy.. the gameplay and presentation are just that good for real... ijust wish we could get a BT2/BT3 music pack to purchase and also a survive mode/100missions mode too hopefully in the future
Same, but in a way I feel this kind of makes me notice the (bad) differences more lmao Like, I’m surely not the only one who feels like trying to charge a smash attack mid combo is very finicky right? It’s basically a 50/50 on if the game just drops the input vs BT3. I know a friend of mine has the same happen There’s also how grabs sometimes require 3 X presses EXCEPT when you press it twice by accident trying to chase a triangle finished and the combo gets dropped instantly
@@rando843 BT3 does indeed feel more responsive and allow for more movement freedom and frametraps. Ithink they will fix some gameplay aspects of the game with time
@@NeoNassim I hope so, immediately playing the game, input felt very off. Not sure why they thought it was a good idea to have delay when ki charging to name a couple of examples. Doing a Z vanish during a combo to go around them also is delayed as well, and I dont like that.
This game is so good, i just got it and before this my favorite DBZ game was Budokai Tenkaichi 3, I feel like this is the perfect Budokai Tenkaichi 4 game. hope they continue to add to and improve it
trust me those are in there but only the Japanese Sparking soundtracks which are basically the original Anime music which us Tenkaichi Atari localization kids never experienced and missed out on, and also it is in the dlc. You can play the Japanese version of BT3/Sparking Meteoir right now and see for yourselves
Heard that the reason they only have the hyperbolic time chamber for now is because it'd be taxing to render TWO high quality terrains at the same time. So on one hand the simple solution is just enabling it/wait for mods, on the other hand the devs very likely could make optimizations so that split screen works well.
I’ve been OBSESSED with playing Sparking Zero recently, and I’m having a great time. I love how they updated the look of the game and how lots of the new moves employed by Super characters fit right in with the more established moves. (Base form Goku from Super’s non Kamehameha super move, I forget the name currently where Goku said “I can learn from you and the way you fight” while leaving his opponent surrounded by KI orbs has become a favorite of mine to witness)
I'm going to say this just for the record because in a few months there will be many people saying it. From a competitive point of view, the gameplay (combat and movement) is bad. It is very simple, mainly due to the lack of dragon rush cancel and the lack of mobility in general. The original game, although the combat was quite similar, the high-level gameplay was completely different, in 90% of a fight it was not the inputs, it was how you moved to position yourself on the back and cancel attacks to screw up the inputs ( banish/cz2) of the rival.
I love this game. I love the details. There's a few issues I have with it, mainly that the menus can be pretty clunky at times, like sometimes pressing X is confirmation, and holding O is backing out, sometimes you have to hold X for confirmation and press O for backing out, that can be a bit annoying, or how there's a submenu to the store/customization where you select which if the two you want to do, but if you back out of it you are back at the main menu, so if you want to equip something you bought you have to go all the way back to the main menu and then back into the same menu you were before to select the other sub menu. It's just kinda clunky. Same with the character selection. It would have been so much better if it had listed the characters base forms and then opened a form selection like in Budokai Tenkaichi 3, instead of this giant wall of 4 lines of only Goku. But those are minor annoyances. My only real issue with the game is the story mode. In BT3 the battles were heavily scripted, with forced tag outs, transformations, beam clashes, and so on. There's barely any of that in Sparking Zero, most of the story modes are just normal matches with some subtitles. Plus some of the stories are weirdly abridged. Like Gohans story starting with his fight against Cell, skipping all of the Saiyan and Namek Sagas, or Vegetas story just ending after the Boo Saga, while Gokus spans all of Super. Yeah Vegeta just doesn't get the Goku Black or Tournament of Power arcs, which is such a weird choice. So overall, the presentation of the story mode is neat and I like the splitting the parts up per character like Budokai 3, and yes the What-If's are really cool (although I wish we had access to some of those characters) but the story mode does feel kind of lacking and rushed What doesn't feel rushed though are the characters. They're indredibly detailed, and they fixed one of the biggest issues with BT3. In BT3, they achieved the width of the roster by recycling a lot of moves. Basically every Goku and Gohan had the exact same Super Kamehameha Ultimate and Kamehameha as an attack. Many other characters had the same Energy Barrage of Full Power Energy Beam. That's not the case in Sparking Zero. Pretty much all attacks are uniquely animated to their character. Even if they are the same attack, they are STILL animated different. SSG Gokus Kamehameha animation is completely different to Goku (Z - Mid)'s Kamehameha. I have seen like 7 completely unique Big Bang attacks. The devs really put a ton of time into these animations and they're incredible. But overall, yeah this is the game I have waited for for 17 years. And it was definitely worth the wait for sure.
Ok, but I really hope we get all of the characters from OG Dragon Ball at some point. Devilman, Namu, Piccolo Daimao, Blue, Black, Murasaki and all the others deserve to be here too. And I hope the fans of Super get all the characters they're wanting as well. This could easily become the ultimate Dragon Ball fighter
Zero is lacking in a number of areas, one would be local split screen 2p mode which is restricted to a single map (time chamber), and the same goes for tournament mode, which is singleplayer or online only. I bought this game to play with my kids like we have been doing so for many years now in Raging Blast 2 and BT series, but being limited to a single map gets old really fast. Also, I miss the thumbstick power struggles of the previous games, the quick time events in Zero are nowhere close as intense. Ppl say stick drift is an issue etc. but it's not if you buy a good quality controller. Everyone knows modern PS4/5 controllers are crap. Switch to a controller with magnetic HAL sticks and you're good to go (sad fact is the Dreamcast had a higher quality controller than what we have today with modern consoles). Zero's beam struggles are also extremely linear because they're mostly static and fixed in place. I like when a beam struggle is so intense that it goes back and forth like in previous games. Also beam struggles are always floating, no epic ground action. Zero being limited to a single local multiplayer map is frustrating because it gets old really fast. The community has already created a mod on PC enabling local multiplayer on all maps which just goes to show that it is indeed possible. I hope they officially address this soon. Raging Blast 2 had both really good online and local multiplayer modes and did all of this on legacy hardware - the PS3.
@@jedy5658 Sup mate, oh sure, I'll wait for patches, but the dlc is coming 2025 Q1/Q2. The things that I mentioned about local mp etc. need to be addressed soon and not in two or three months. Previous games didn't need any patches or dlc for these features, they had them built in from day 1. I'm not a fan of this new-gen trend of delivering half of the game at release only to deliver the rest at some point in the future. When I bought Raging Blast 2 I got everything on a single disc right off the bat, same goes for BT. I say this because kids get bored really fast and my kids are already asking me to play RB2 again so they can play other maps. I want to migrate to Zero because I'm hoping it'll replace our awesome RB2 for the next decade.
@@Alexander-ix2jp I'm not 100% sure if this was mentioned in the video, but the local multiplayer issue has been adressed a few months ago. They initially didn't plan for the game to have local multiplayer at all, but due to fan backlash they decided to implement it last second which is why we only got one map. They didn't have enough time by that point because the release date was already official. Judging by the support of the other DB games (namely Kakarot and XV2) it seems very likely that we will get more maps. But I 100% get your frustration.
@@derbusfahrer9574 I honestly hope you're right mate, because that's exactly what I am hoping for, and I hope it doesn't take too long to fix this either. Fans have already modded it back into the game, so if they can do it, I sure hope BN can follow that wonderful prime example. The story that you just told me is exactly what I have been reading on Reddit etc., so it might be true (no idea though). If it is indeed true, big if here, they should have never planned for the game to completely skip on local multiplayer. It's one of the main reasons why the last games have had such incredible longevity. I do get it from a financial point of view though, terminating local multiplayer and making it online-only would generate more copies sold, and it could simplify development while at it, but local mp is part of this series and always has been. It has to come back.
@@Alexander-ix2jp It's not a big if. They have adressed this on their official UA-cam channel in a video a few weeks/months prior to the game's release. I stand completely with you. They did good for what we were expecting but they could’ve done a bit better in terms of stages, story, and character rosters. They had years to make this game but overall great coming back to it
The problem with split screen is the fact that the destructible environment are resource intensive. And split screen doubles the required processing. So that’s why the Hyberbolic time chamber is the only map that they can support it on.
Honestly, I'm glad they used Limit Break x Survivor instead of Cha-La-Head for the FIFTH time in under fifteen years (UT, BoZ, Xenoverse 1, Kakarot) for an intro.
The local co op mode in sparking zero has an interesting history behind it so the game was originally announced to be online multiplayer only, the reason was that they could not get the game running at a smooth 60 fps while also maintaining the level of quality of the gameplay and environments. In one of the announcement trailers they revealed that they were able to get a high quality local multiplayer to work but it was only set on the hyperbolic time chamber. The only reason that local multiplayer was added is because they knew how much fans were missing the feature after a large outcry. The local multiplayer we have now is a result of the developers' efforts to compromise and get the mode back into the game after seeing how much the fans were missing it and despite the limitations of properly running a local co op mode. I doubt they are going to add more maps for the mode but if they did it would be at the expense of the frame rate.
@@user-nx9qh1po1n For PC thats not much of an issue to get local co op running on all stages getting the same consistent performance on all modern console releases, especially the xbox series S is always going to be an issue. Its one of the few games I've followed that developers were always looking for fan input and trying to follow through with each change being noticeable in every new reveal.
Only thing I’ll add is it’s missing mini games. Mini games are important because once you get sick of fighting you need some slice of life immersion and variety
I can think of some training mini games Like catching bubbles , running snake way . Pull Z word , breed saibamen. Learn kaiken. Deliver milk. Or find launch

I grew up in the 90's and I remember when the original DBZ: Budokai trilogy came out in 2002, 2003 and 2004, but I only bought the third game. During 2005, I went to Barnes & Noble and saw the book for DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi, the graphics had improved. In 2007, I bought the third game. Now, here we are with DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 4. I wonder why it took them 17 years to give us the 4th installment to the greatest DBZ games ever made. My only major issue with the new game is the color palette, Goku's uniform should be orange red when he's in base form, not orange. In the anime, whenever Goku, Gohan, Vegeta and Future Trunks went Super Saiyan. There clothes would become light colors after the SS auras disappeared, it seems like the creators of Sparking Zero! had forgotten all about that. That's something that the Tenkaichi series stayed true to the anime.

@@schmecklin377 Yeah because EVERY character is viable if the player is good enough. Same as with every game.
The game was probably getting really expensive so they cut corners
@@leew5647 Probably that. I know that Kakarot exists but holding out hope for the sequel of Sparking Zero adapting Goku's story more faithfully with its combat.
I'd say my main issue with the story is how many fake what-if parts there are. I just did Gohan's story and there are so many times where you win, get a small victory narration and then nothing, you have to go redo the fight and wait around for the invisible timer to run out to keep going.
Not that the proper what-if paths are bad, getting surprises like Gohan being involved in the Black arc are great fun.
@@ak-t7d6f I just hope they don't kneecap Vegeta again. Genuinely infuriates me that it ends at the Buu Saga.
Whaaaaaat, I agree the BT music was iconic but the SZ music is fantastic in its own right
BT2 music was immediately ear worming in my brain from the first time I stopped playing. I can't remember any of the SZ music and I played it for a couple of hours earlier today. It's like they took a 'cinematic' mindset where the music is great but it's not allowed to stand out and be noticed, as not to detract from the experience somehow.
I agree even the hits sound and effect don't feel so hard like budokai tenkaichi 3
Lost courage
Heat capacity
I think the intro having the music straight from the anime is very symbolic. The games have always been treated as sepperate entities in universe as it should. But Budokai Tenkaichi is honestly one of the big reasons the series stayed in peoples minds long after the anime’s end in that decade long official content drought. Giving Criware the time and funds to polish that formula to the max and put all the love they could possibly fit into a game that is miraculously only 26 gb made something truly speacial. The Super theme being used is a medal o honor that this game is just as important to the series as the anime, and does Toriyamas vision exponential levels of justice.
Nah I want a cool intro song
I mean, it's not the first time they did it. Dragon Ball Z Sparking! and Sparking! NEO used We Gotta Power and Cha-La Head Cha-La as opening songs.
Calling Frost "Frieza without eyebrows" makes it sound like you think Frieza has eyebrows.

The original 3 budokai game had far better controls and mechanics than the tenkaichi series and this game seems to lean further into the original mechanics than the tenkaichi mechanics. That is a good thing imo.

This is the first time I've ever shelled out 100 bucks for an enhanced edition of a game....worth it
It’s the only game I was actually happy to spend $70 bucks for!

Gohan didn't fight Bergamo. He fought Lavender which is the yellow one. Bergamo fought SSJB Kaioken Goku before Goku fought Toppo

Neo
Tenka'ichi 3 = Sparking! Meteor

while I didn't expect dragonball stuff to be in it from the begining, I really would like to see a dlc/expansion which does just the main story highlights for people unfamiliar with it, and like, include silly things like the dude who turns people into carrots, arale the only character to have beaten goku, and y'know, everything from granpa gohan to chi chi, launch, ranfan, heck baba as well.
13:32 it was actually because in past games when you did multiplayer they’d have to make maps a bit smaller or make the colours less vibrant or take little things out maps (this was said by the way) and they didn’t want the game to look bad when you played with your friend so they picked one map and it was this one since there is basically nothing in there
Edit: I think this stuff only happened in the tenkaichi and raging blast series but it might’ve also been a thing in xenoverse 2 idrk

@@Siddiqui_57 nope you say they need to get better not fired
Menus are the one thing they fumbled hard
There’s also how you can’t retry battles in Story mode unless you die so if you’re trying to do the time limit What If branches and you fail without dying you have to hit Next, wait until the next cutscene lets you exit out, then go back into the old fight (which takes ages cuz navigating the story mode map is unexplainably slow), start the fight and then skip like 2 cutscenes

Like, I’m surely not the only one who feels like trying to charge a smash attack mid combo is very finicky right? It’s basically a 50/50 on if the game just drops the input vs BT3. I know a friend of mine has the same happen
There’s also how grabs sometimes require 3 X presses EXCEPT when you press it twice by accident trying to chase a triangle finished and the combo gets dropped instantly

1:10 if i remember correctly sparking neo (tenkaichi 2) had “cha la head cha la” as its opening, so it kinda makes sense
Heard that the reason they only have the hyperbolic time chamber for now is because it'd be taxing to render TWO high quality terrains at the same time. So on one hand the simple solution is just enabling it/wait for mods, on the other hand the devs very likely could make optimizations so that split screen works well.
7:14 this is the one thing that’s missing from sparking zero: thick linebacker necks
Loving this game, especially the what if’s. I had to stop playing to watch this video lol.
The game has a lot of huge flaws but tbh my critic spirit gets crushed a little when I can play as the whole Ginyu squad so it’s alright
So overall, the presentation of the story mode is neat and I like the splitting the parts up per character like Budokai 3, and yes the What-If's are really cool (although I wish we had access to some of those characters) but the story mode does feel kind of lacking and rushed
What doesn't feel rushed though are the characters.

10:30 Zarbon just broke rule 6.
I was waiting for your feedback game, excellent as always.
Just wait for patches and DLC bro

The older BT games lived off local multiplayer and I also hope they expand on it in Sparking Zero. We just need to let our voices be heard mate. I'm sure they will listen and deliver.
Nah the intro to Sparking! Zero is perfection! I’m so happy that they used the DBS opening 2/Tournament of Power song! It’s so good!!
Im definitely calling 100% Frieza "Ronnie Coleman" Frieza from now on, thank you for that
They finally have destruction actually not disappear . I been wanting this forever
WHOA Flandrew made a Dragon Ball video? HUGE
Fancy seeing you here
I never saw it coming
He has a few. Covered Budokai trilogy in one video, with shin budokai and infinite world in another.
Also did Legacy of goku 2 and buus fury.
@@supervegito2277 Whoa, it looks like he even did a video covering some of the worst DBZ games. Pretty neat! I'll definitely check them out, thanks for the recommendation!
@@Niosai Heh Glad i could help... in a manner of speaking anyhow haha.
They did good for what we were expecting but they could’ve done a bit better in terms of stages, story, and character rosters. They had years to make this game but overall great coming back to it
It feels strange not hearing him say "but which one."
Goku cut his calorie intake in Sparking Zero. Dude's arms are twigs!🥲
13:15 *Sees local co-op, immediately opens steam to buy the game*
Unfortunately on one map only
@@whtevercomesfrst He said steam, there's a mod that he can use to play with other maps! And it runs fine
You're forgetting Dragon Ball Z (Budokai - yup, it's simply called DBZ in Japan) and Dragon Ball Z Sparking! NEO.
@@Altefkatr Nah, I wasn't forgetting it, that's why I said in under fifteen years.
@@Naruku2121 Oh right, didn't pay attention. But yeah, it really was too much.
New to the series, definitely addicted rn
Sparking zero absolutely needs more stages
9:11
you don't know how CRUCIAL it is to have the little mask thing pop up AFTER he says his line
Budokai tenkaichi quadrilogy* sparking zero isnt a spin off it is a sequel
9:05 looks straight out of the Coolers Revenge movie! Amazing! Would be cool if he says his line: “Yes, Time to Die!” *Mask Up*
Not to be an ungrateful spoiled child but could you please compare sparking zero and raging blast 2?
The local co op mode in sparking zero has an interesting history behind it
so the game was originally announced to be online multiplayer only, the reason was that they could not get the game running at a smooth 60 fps while also maintaining the level of quality of the gameplay and environments.
There's already mods that allow local multi no problem. They were probably just lazy.
@@user-nx9qh1po1nbro has no idea how game dev works
@@user-nx9qh1po1nOn PC. I heard consoles had problems running split screen on most maps.
@@user-nx9qh1po1n For PC thats not much of an issue to get local co op running on all stages
getting the same consistent performance on all modern console releases, especially the xbox series S is always going to be an issue. The development of sparking zero is anything but lazy trust me, its an incredibly passionate project that had tons of receptive fan feedback all throughout the development. Its one of the few games I've followed that developers were always looking for fan input and trying to follow through with each change being noticeable in every new reveal.
I just don't understand why Super 17 is missing out from the GT characters
It's not removed you need to unlock it
@@branko4138 I was talking about the Super 17 from GT not the 17 from DBS
@@henrydrago he was found in a datamine
great video but you missed when it comes to the intro the og trilogy intros are unmatched
5:50 SIR HOW DID YOU GET YOUR BEAMS TO LOOK LIKE THAT????
thats what im saying!
Legacy of Goku Trilogy comparison please
was waiting for the combat comparison
It’s funny to hear you say the menu is seamless, it’s been super clunky for me. I had to turn how the screen shake and waves for it. It’s gotten stuck a couple of times and I’ve had to reset the game
I agree its clunky ash
That's something that the Tenkaichi series stayed true to the anime.
now we can beat people up with picollo and tenshinhan with higher framerate and updated mechancis!
7:36 That's weird and funny because I LOVED TF outta that game and was my first favorite version of what Fighter Z came to be now 😅👌😂
1:33 i still prefer the 2d looks in the menu, 3d looks a lot of exagerated movement.. but is also cool
I found it kind of clunky bc there’s like a slight delay if youre trying to quickly move around the menu or go too far and need to go back
@@JWZRD23 yes, it is especially annoying in the "world map" or whatever the name of the single player map is, where you try to fast move in the map and there is a big delay between moves.
@@Ayurai I wish they had an option to turn it off
Nobody else miss that adventure mode where you could explore, sleep or train? I was really looking foward that mode
I'm glad that this game feels like an advancement and not just a remaster of the older games.
but make the offline pvp better!!! it'd be cool if they add multi-monitor support
Lazy nerfed remakes disguised as “sequels” was a dark era.
@@shecklesmack9563 just old re-hashed stuff, where the newer games skip features/characters older games had.
Its exactly what i expected so im really happy and glad this game exist since there are a lot of dissapointment in new games, this was very very refreshing
I found Sparking very frustrating after the BT games, especially after freshly playing BT3
Actually, the reason why the hyperbolic time chamber's the only map is performance issues.
They weren't even sure if they could make *that* work even, but they did. It's what made me SURE that this game was gonna be amazing.
