      Thanks Ruthie!! I have a video on Friday that shows how I put the planters together. It got too long with the swag hook info so I split up the videos. I love them in here so much and I am planning to make some more!

    Thanks! I bought a few of these hooks at my local craft store and had no idea how to install them! I also used a stud finder to find a sturdy beam to try to hook it into just in case.

      I'm glad it helped! You will never go wrong by being more secure when installing something into your ceiling. Great job and ENJOY!

      @@kathytincler2446 HA HA!! NOOOOOO!!!! I bought them, but I made them into hanging planters. There were sitting on my table top and I decided to try hanging them. And they are so cute. I went back for a couple more and they were out of them. Sadly.

    This is great info patty! I always just find the stud but the stud isn’t always where I want it to be so this is great for moments like that.

      Finding a stud can be a challenge! ! This method is really the easiest, and I've never had anything come down in 30 years of hanging stuff in apartments and houses. Although, if I was going to put up something over 10 pounds, the stud method is definitely safer.

      You're welcome Harriet!! Good luck! I'm sure you can do it with the right butterfly bolt. Ask for help in the hardware store if you need it. I love my air plants. They are super easy and look so cool!

    Hey there. Just sdo you know for future. You can use a drill to make the hole. There should be a dimension written on the pack that you need to make the hole size, so just make sure you use a drill bit thst corresponds. Hope that helps.

    • @PattymacMakes
      @PattymacMakes  5 років тому +2

      Thanks!!! Great suggestion! I like to do as many things as possible without power tools. So many people do not have them that it's nice to share an alternative to a drill. But if it was going to be installed into a beam then the drill might become necessary. I haven't done anything heavy enough to require that at this point. I do appreciate the thoughtful comment, though!!

    Me too! Once you made the hole was there any trick to getting the butterfly clip in?

    • @PattymacMakes
      @PattymacMakes  5 років тому +1

      You have to make sure you put it on the screw end facing the correct way, squeeze it together and gently ram it through the hole. Turn the hook end to tighten it down. It's pretty easy. The worst part is the mess it makes where you've reamed out that giant hole in the ceiling. So you want to be absolutely certain you are making the hole in the exact spot you want.

      Pattymac Knits thanks girl! I’m excited to try this for a lamp shade I want to hang. Just ordered something like your hook. Appreciate the video :).

      @@HaileyBright You're welcome Hailey! Be careful about how heavy your piece is. Make sure the hanger is rated the correct weight. I've hung lights in the past, and they were fine, so I'm sure yours will be too! You can also use an old screw driver to gouge out the hole in the ceiling. Take your time with it, because if you go too big, there's no going back. And it would be a pain to fix.

    • @HaileyBright
      @HaileyBright 5 років тому +1

      Pattymac Knits thanks! That’s great advice. :) yeah, would suck to put a large hole in the ceiling haha

      @@HaileyBright YES!! Ask me how I know. ha ha! I do hope I have some things you'll enjoy here. I'm kind of a home making channel, but there is also plant information and I do cook stuff that I jazz up from Trader Joe's so that might be something you would enjoy.

    I need to do that as I don’t have much counter space or places to sit things.

      As long as you don't over weight them and put them in correctly, these things are awesome!! I absolutely love what I hung on them, and I'll share that on Friday! ❤️
