Thanks for this amazing video!! Can't believe I made this. I will say, I measured my lengths out to just 10 ft, 7 ft, and 4 ft and had just enough, if you're using your own materials and want to reduce the use a bit!
Tried this out on a little bigger pot, I reccomend either A) cutting the rope maybe at least 2 feet longer for each rope, or if your'e like me and didnt think ahead and are done, getting rid of the bottom row of square knots, and just tying it in a barrel knot after that (but be sure to try this WITH your pot inside)
This is honestly beautiful but I wound up with 14.5ft of wasted cord… I’m glad I didn’t cut 2 5ft cords for the barrels knots and just used it off the roll😅😬
This is probably the easiest macrame tutorial I’ve seen. Thank you! What size was your pot? I want to create one for a 5” x 5” pot. Does the size of the pot matter?
I would say add about 4ft to each side so 4x16ft and 4x12ft. Also, when making the square knots, make sure to space them out more to fit the larger pot. I hope this helps!
I made this using 5 mm string and realised it was going to be to short, so I just started to do the spiral knots immeadiatly after the barrel knot. Then I didn't finnish it with a normal knot because it looked to chunky (you don't really need to) and just moved on to the square knots where you hang the plant :)
at the start when you put the 4x 12ft string and the 4x 8ft strings on the ring does it matter what order they go in or do you just chuck them all on anywhere???
I love this design but the background music is loud and very distracting. I will persevere and get through this though cause your direction is on point!!!! Thanks
Hello, when making the square knots, do you need to maintain the pattern of long strings on the outside/short ones in the middle? I have done it this way now and it makes the strings crossed inbetween the first sets of square knots and the second TIA :)
You could always use a bowl in place of a pot just to see how it fits! If not.. make the square knots 2 inches from eachother and you should be able to fit a 6-8" pot. For a smaller pot, make the square knots closer together (or omit the second set of knots altogether).
Each person will be a bit different, depending on the tension of your knots and how many you made for the "hand's length". Getting the right amount of string to prevent waste is always a challenge in macrame!
Can't wait to make one for my pothos plant. Thanks for sharing.

Oooh! For what size pot?
Thank you for this very detailed tutorial, I made my 1st macrame plant hanger thanks to you!
Amazing! I love hearing that :)
Super simple and beautiful. Start to finish in an evening and it looks great! Thank you for sharing this video!
Great tutorial, thanks so much! ❤
🌻🌹🌺 Thks so much for your CLEAR instructions! Now I can complete my pot plant holder!
Thank you, your tutorial is the only one I have felt I could follow. Great explanation, I can’t wait to try it.
Amazing! Thanks for your great feedback. Happy knotting!

Thanks for the great feedback! Sounds like you are a natural 😉
Great easy to follow tutorial. Thanks girl!☺️

Purchased ur esty kit. Just finished... easy peasy! Looks great. Thank you.
Made one for my monstera adansonii, thanks!
Carolina Arroyo how long did this hang when finished
My spider plant looks very happy now in its new hanger, thank you!
This is probably the easiest macrame tutorial I’ve seen. Thank you! What size was your pot? I want to create one for a 5” x 5” pot. Does the size of the pot matter?
The pot I used was 6" wide at the top!
Love the simplicity of this! What string lengths would you suggest for say a 10-12 in. pot instead?
I would say add about 4ft to each side so 4x16ft and 4x12ft. Also, when making the square knots, make sure to space them out more to fit the larger pot. I hope this helps!

Great job improvising, you're a real pro now!
Love this!1 thank you!
You're so welcome!
Loved it! ❤
12 ft is 3 meters ish wow that's alot of string to work with
at the start when you put the 4x 12ft string and the 4x 8ft strings on the ring does it matter what order they go in or do you just chuck them all on anywhere???
You can just put 'em anywhere! There is no real science to this part.
What is the length of hanger when complete?
I love this design but the background music is loud and very distracting. I will persevere and get through this though cause your direction is on point!!!! Thanks
I appreciate your feedback! I have taken your thoughts into account and made future videos without music. Thank you!
Thank you!
What if we wanted to make the spiral knot from top of hanger to where the top of the planter sits?
If you want your spiral knots to be longer, I would add a couple feet to your string! Maybe try 12ft & 16ft lengths.
Hello, when making the square knots, do you need to maintain the pattern of long strings on the outside/short ones in the middle? I have done it this way now and it makes the strings crossed inbetween the first sets of square knots and the second TIA :)
It's only really necessary for the spiral knot part :)
can you make this with 2mm cord?
Great video but take the music out. I enjoy watching the videos and also the peace it provides following and making x
Thanks for the feedback!
I actually really enjoyed the music! I was having fun watching your tutorial and then making this myself. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea though.
Hi! Can I link back to your video from an ebook?
Hey there! You certainly can :)
Hey, I wanted to know how can we make this without having the pot. Like, do we take measurements or something?
You could always use a bowl in place of a pot just to see how it fits! If not.. make the square knots 2 inches from eachother and you should be able to fit a 6-8" pot. For a smaller pot, make the square knots closer together (or omit the second set of knots altogether).
@@MinimalistMacrame okay. thank you so much.
Hi, how long is this when complete?
Hey there! The completed hanger is approx 4ft long :)
How many strings would you need to make a three sided one?
I think 2 5ft, 3 8ft and 3 12 ft
@@maura7475 thanks for your reply! I'm looking forward to trying this 😀
Such a shame there is music over the video, very distracting!!!!!
What song is this?

I made the likes 666
The measurements were a bit too short; I’d recommend 4 x 14ft cords, 4 x 10ft cords, and 2 x 4ft cords. Otherwise great video!
What's the total height of your hanger?:)
I used 4 mm string and followed the instructions as she stated them, my string ended up being way to short to finish the project.
I'm sorry to hear that! Maybe next time, use a couple more feet OR make a few less spiral knots.
I think the measures are too long. Based off what was said to cut and the video, the ropes are verrrrrry long versus what is depicted in the video...
Each person will be a bit different, depending on the tension of your knots and how many you made for the "hand's length". Getting the right amount of string to prevent waste is always a challenge in macrame!
Confusing way to make square knots-it’s the opposite way of any other tutorial I’ve watched 🤷🏻♀️
Right handed vs left handed.. it's all about what you're comfortable with!
