Man, either your dude must love plants or he must love you even more. That's a lot of plants.
she said her husband hates how many plants she has but i guess that means that he really loves her.
🤣🤣🤣 really gotta love the men who put up with plant ladies lol
My boyfriend definitely loves me more than he loves plants - but that works out for both of us.
The plants smothering the bed take it way too far. Shes insane lol
@@s.k.t.7857 well she's a plant youtuber, her house is gonna look like a jungle lol. But she makes an easy living staying at home posting vids about her hobby on UA-cam. The hobby paid for and enough to make a living by UA-cam. I just wish I had the drive to do it lol.
“I want my inside to feel like an outside“ lol same
Thanks for explaining how to hang houseplants in the way you did. You show great sensitivity in how your explain a project like hanging a plant - a lot of women are never shown how to do things like find studs vs drywall in a wall or ceiling. So much appreciated!
How is it that some of us are so addicted to plants? Where did this addiction come from? When did i get so jungle-y?
I have a couple plants hanging from the wall using wrought iron hooks that I think are for outdoor flower baskets. They sell them by the coco coir baskets at Lowe's. I use the big ones for larger pots because they stick out farther. I like it because it's easier to find a stud or use an anchor in the wall than the ceiling, and you can customize the height that it's hanging.
My husband would be in his own room if I hung plants in ours off the bed. I'd love it.
Nan Murray mines too lol they look so nice and cozy in her room
You'd love it if your husband was in his own room? We all feel that way sometimes ;-)
@@naysneedle5707 ha ha ga sooooo true.
I like to hang spider plants too. They don't mind drying out so they can be lighter. I also saw these really cute macrame wall hangers that hang against the wall rather than from the ceiling and they have like a pocket. I'm planning to hang one of those between two windows where there is a really small wall. I also saw hanging plants on free-standing plant hangers that are like shepard hooks or even an old floor lamp or bird-cage stand repurposed for that. And I found this amazing plant hanging device on a foreign website (unable to locate one for sale in the U.S.) but it was almost like one of those corner shower caddies that are spring-loaded. Really cool. Yes, I too am obsessed with finding more house plant real estate!
I've seen those spring loaded poles with shelves on Amazon.
Thank you so much for your videos! So helpful. I’ve had some of those white hooks & toggle bolts sitting around for over a week cause I was too scared to try! Now I know what I’m doing! You’re the best ❤️
Thank you ,thank you I was wondering how to hang my plants into the ceiling with those hanging hooks and now I know thanks to you ,I've been hanging some of mines on wall space also using candle holders that the little plate folds down so I put a plant pot on them and I will be putting up floating shelves, again thank you
Sincerely Carol
I love hanging plants and I just love your home!! Your bedroom will look amazing in a couple of years, too!!
I'd never hang any plants on the ceiling, my boy has a phobia and I respect it, but I hang plants outdoors if I can and I'm hoping we'll have a gazebo this summer, which means: moar hanging plants for me!!
We also don't have any plants in the bedroom, cause my boy sleeps in late now, so there wouldn't be enough hours of sun for the green creatures, but that might change one day.
I wonder how your husband feels with all of these plants. because im so addicted to plants like u and my entire family is like please stop. but theres no stop for buying more plantsss.
In my opinion it's really important to balance my own desires to "have all the plants!" and the rest of my family's wants for our home. Because we all share the space, and it's important to respect others just as much as yourself.
I try very hard to make sure the plants we have enhance/beautify our living space, and don't impede our actual living. It's no fun feeling like your roommate/family member's hobby is squeezing you out of your own home (from their perspective). 😫
My bf says no bc we have no space. He doesn’t mind as long as it’s organized
Same girl!!!! I have said that for years but have only got into plant survival / jungle life the past 4 years! 😉🤣
Yay a video on hanging plants!!! Loved your little hacks😉👍👍👍
Thanks so much Angelica! I really appreciate it. I am glad you enjoyed (:
I have had 2 packs of those hooks for 2 months. I could not get it together. Thanks for showing us ( the less mechanical type people) the right way to install the hooks.
🙏🏽
Question: have you ever moved with all your plants???
Love. Love, Love your canopy bed with all the plants! It does look like you’re walking through a jungle and must be sooo peaceful. Any downside to having lots of plants indoors? Gnats? Insects? And how do you water your plants without making a mess with the excess water that comes out of the pot? Looking forward to seeing more of your videos! Goals! Much Peace ☮️ Love 💖 & Light ✨✨✨
Can you please turn on the captions option? Thanks!
Great video !!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 so informative
I thought I had a lot of plants 😂 I would LOVE to breathe in your air quality 😍😍
Very helpful. I needed tips on both the hanging and especially what plants to buy. Thanks!
omg your room is so sick, i love all the plant vibes
Tons of great ideas! Thanks for sharing !
Omg I Liked the vid and it changed from 1.9K to 2K. I was the 2000th Like!
I love it currently im Broke and I'm wanting to buy some shelfs my distant neighbors have but u can't 😔 I think someone already took them 😭 but I really wanted to put plants and my spiders n mantises on
Thank you. Very helpful!
That bed!!!!!
Thanks for the wreath hanger tip, I'm going to do this on my closet doors 👩🌾
You're welcome! It's such a simple thing, but really changed the game for me!
Hi Harli-- I love the way hanging plants look-- but...... any tips for watering them? I always make such a mess when I have hanging plants-- I try to water, the water goes on the leaves and runs onto the floor... I over water and it all comes out of the bottom of the pot... so then I under water and the plant wilts. In 30 years of plant keeping, I have never found a groove with it-- I have so many plants, but only 2 are hanging because they are spider plants and can take my abuse!
Lara B I use a little collapsible step stool and a watering can with a long, narrow spout that I can stick in the plant easily and make sure I’m watering into the pot. a lot of my hanging pots have no drainage so I put charcoal from Hoffman’s on the bottom to absorb excess water
Hi there, I recently added a lot of hanging plants to my home. Upstairs I use two tubs and set the plants in one and water the plant, excess water goes into the tub. I just keep pouring water from one to the other until all the plants have been watered. It works, not ideal, but I don't have a bathroom upstairs. Downstairs I just water them in the kitchen sink. Hope this gives you some ideas. Had to figure this out because like you I was making a mess and had water all over the bed and everything. Not working!!! Necessity is the mother of invention. Have a blessed day.
Thank you so helpful.
Awesome thank you!
When the plants start a rocking, don’t come a knocking 😂
How do you not get water everywhere watery your hanging plants wow :).
Your so beautiful! Love your natural look 🌿💕
Cool name, nice vid 🤙
what's the plant in the front @7:36 called? because it's BEAUTIFUL & I need one
Thanks for sharing this video 😃 nice video
How do you deal with drainage from the bottom of the pot when you water the plants?
nice jungle
If you brace the middle of your curtain to the wall you may be able to hang more off of it.
I’d be too scared pots would fall on me if I set them above my bed.
I'm with you there, I won't even hang a picture on the wall over my bed - we get too many earthquakes here.
Do you do your own nails? They always look great!
Do you water them over your bed like that
Thank you!
how do you deal with drainage while indoors ?
Harli .. Having a hard time finding joinst. Have the same stud finder you... Noticed where you marked with pencil you drilled slightly back behind marking. Is this correct?? To drill into wood?
The stud finder we used marks the edges of the stud. So you have to guide it one direction to find one edge, then you have to go the other direction to find the other edge. Then try to split the difference to hit the middle of the joist. Good luck!
How do you water hanging plants without the water leaking onto the floor?
Where do you shop for plants?
How do you stop the water from dripping through the hanging pot
How are you watering them without bases, isn't the water dripping down everywhere?
I have mine in their nursery pot inside a pot without a drainage hole, that way I can take it out and water it and put it back in once it's stopped dripping
You could drill holes on the edges of terra-cotta saucers (or something sturdy) and hang the saucer from rope.
Does your husband love the plants on the bed? Mine would hate it.
GIRL that's it -- I'm redoing my bedroom. I neeed a canopy bed and a gang of new plants.
bloodflower4141 did you do it???
Did you do it??
Ahaha I have no recollection of this comment, no idea it got a lot of likes.
I did get a gang of new plants, I have rearranged my bedroom several times since then. I did get a cute large wooden plant stand around that time.
I got a new bed as a wedding gift this year, but it is not a canopy bed! 😂
My goals are to create a jungle as well! Now, how do I get my husband to buckle as well? He says he doesnt feel like having to slap plants around just to get from room to room 🤣
Thats too funny, sounds a bit like my hubby but he did put some in for me. BUT he didn't put in joists or studs, with the same items Harli used it can be dont on the ceiling.
PSH! Tell him it's an investment into his health :P
@@HarliG right??!! How do people not understand that? Some day, some day I'll win 😁
Haha, I want mine to be the same I’m slowly easing my hubby into it. Add a few here a few there. So far he’s been patient , but we shall see where his breaking point is😂
😂😂😂😂
All of my hanging plants are basically various pothos.
oh my god I NEED a canopy bed with plants all over it like that. waking up to that sounds like heaven
7:52 Her doggie knew it was on camera. Peep the cute face like "mama get my good side"
he has the cutest eyes looking all sideways, 🥰
OH MY GOD THAT DOOR HANGER IS A GAME CHANGER. I must find this.
Each door can hold a lot of plants :P
Yeah I liked that too! You can buy those wreath hangers at the dollar store around Christmas. I know, wrong time of the year. *sadface But they also make over-the-door clothing hooks. Might try that.
@@kyrad6543 Thanks!
Try flying tiger!! ;)
Betsy Begonia dollarama sells them!!!
i love how your husband is doing the demo and you’re explaining lol what a dynamic duo ❤️
I love the idea of the door hanger. If people don't want to invest in the canopy bed , I've hung decorative curtain rods from the ceiling and hang multiple plants from it. Blessings
ooooooooo great idea! i love it!
This is EXACTLY what I want my apartment to look like. I bet the smell is amazing.
Awesome video I never thought of using my curtain rod ends! WOOHOO NEW PLANT SPACE :) One thing I always do whenever I use toggle clamps is I put a bag of flour or rice in a shopping bag and hang it off the hook for 24 hours just to check the hold. Yes I'm paranoid plant Dad!
Oh! That is a brilliant idea! One can never be too careful, especially in terms of plant well-being!
I'm in an apartment so hanging plants from the ceiling isn't really an option (I don't want to fill in the holes when I move into an actual house) but I do have a double curtain rods. I hang my actual curtains on the inside one(closest to the window) and some of my lighter weight hanging plants on the outside one so I can still see my plants when the curtains are closed. And just a note, you can find over the door hooks on amazon in 10 packs, they're shorter than wreath hangers but just as sturdy
I recently just got into houseplants, so I only have 6 so far. I’ve been obsessed with learning about houseplants for weeks now, and you’re videos are very helpful! Can’t wait until my collection is a fraction of what yours is! 😂❤️
You can also use one of those luggage scale gadgets to weigh your plants when they are wet to make sure your using the right hanging materials for their weight.
Yes! That is a really smart idea!
Genius!
This was so helpful! Thank you
Just left Pinterest and, indeed, ceiling rods are a thing 😬😄🤩. They do exist and the hardware comes with it.
Common people hang curtains from them... 🤣 I’ll be one of the cool kids and hang plants from it 🙈🤷🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️
Also... do you hang plants in your bathroom?
1) I have to get a 'chenille' hanging plant now after hearing about yours! Adding that to my plant list.
2) I like your hoya. Mine is similar. I drove home some cuttings that a lady gave me in Maine. She was the new owner of a house from my childhood. She let me look around and go down memory lane. She had amazing plants. It was super sweet of her to give me some to always remember. Anyways, I drove a packed car, my dog and plant cuttings in my cup holder all the way home! I have since grown them into many plants and given some to friends. I love the sweet nectar flowers on them when they bloom.
**** I enjoy your videos 🙂
If plants could talk?wat might they say being in ur bedroom 🤔😂.
I wonder what the air quality in her house is like 😲
I love this, I'm trying to make my inside look like the outside too.
Hello Harli,
I appreciate your videos.
Can you please do one on the asparagus fern. I've been a hobbyist houseplanter for decades and am great at most plants. But have always had trouble with the asparagus fern.
Thanks,
Don
Asparagus ferns definitely dont like to be water logged. So maybe overwatering? We plant them in our landscape in south Texas
If your plants aren't super heavy you can use large heavy duty command hooks! Stuff meant for like hanging wreaths and such. It's how I have my spider plant hanging :)
And It'd be good for people who are renting and cant drill into anything!
How do you water the plants above your bed?
probably have to take them down and water them - maybe bottom water. that works better anyways
I bottom waterthem in the bath tub 😊
Loved this!!!! And love your sweater 💚
I am redoing my living room that has high ceilings. I will be installing pully systems to make it easier to place, water and generally take care of my plants I hang in there.
i noticed that your asparagus fern pot has drainage holes.. when you hang them how do you manage the water draining out??
Your video helped me hang my golden pothos! Thank you so much! 😭♥️
Yay! I am really happy to hear that ❤️
I like it "Inside feel like outside". Wonderful. Living in a greenhouse.
Yes! That's the goal
Thanks for making this video!! I actually searched before for a video on how to hang plants from the ceiling and couldn’t find a good one!! You explained that well and gave even more great ideas! Definitely will utilize them in order to make space (for more plants) 😆
Thank you so much for this video! So helpful! Loved the list of plants you give here! It’d be great if the names of the plants would be written down somewhere here, (to make it easier for us to find them) Great video!
GURL! It's like you're reading my mind! I was just talking to my bf last night about hanging up plants!! I swear! I've been looking for some heavy duty curtain rods for it. We rent, and we have blinds, no curtains, but the house has fantastic natural lighting. It was a must on the list when we were looking, hah.
OH heck yes! I love when it works out that way.
Great video!! The canopy bed is genius!!
Rammstein and plants! I’m subscribing right now!
Yesss hang ALL the plants! That’s for the ceiling info, I haven’t braved that yet!
If you have enough space you could also buy a clothing rack just for plants (seen this at ikea)
OH! I'm looking at the website now, about to order one haha thanks for the tip!
That’s brilliant!
Love your plants. Thank you for info I'm ready to hang my plants.
Hi Harli! Great ideas! I have an old (1925) house that has many smaller windows with wood frames around them. I only use mini blinds, but am considering hanging curtain rods just for my plants, or using 2 plant hangers that I just bought from Amazon and putting a painted/stained dowel in them, which would stick out farther for bigger plants. For those with wall space (which I don't have), you may want to watch Betsy Begonias "DIY plant project: plant rack for hanging plants". That's what gave me the idea for using rods of some kind above my windows. I may have to dig out my macramé' supplies and make some hangers! TFS!
Yes!!!! I literally said that too. I want my house to look like a jungle. 😍
Loved this! Please do more tips on everything! Keep feeding is these great stuff!!! 🌱❤️🙌🏼
My asparagus fern is in a huge pot. Like 24” or something. It is enormous and I have it on a wheel base. It goes out in the summer and comes in in the winter. It even flowers and makes red berries. But it is so overgrown I may have to destroy the enormous and expensive planter to get it out. I wonder how much dirt is even left in it! But my scindapsous Is not doing well. I was down to a few leaves and made new starts. One is doing well the other is iffy. But my actual plant has only one leaf! And I want it to grow. Ugh.
Man plants are so temperamental sometimes! I hope it all works out for you & your planties 🤞
I have balconies on all 4 sides of my apartment. I intend to create a jungle there too. So a house surrounded by jungle on all 4 sides. I would turn my house into a jungle too but husband kinda sick of all the green 😂
Beautiful collection! I noticed you still have most in grower pots. What is the best way to water them? Do you need to take them down every time or do you place something under it to drain?
Stud finder, hey? Be honest. Has your husband pointed it at himself and gone "Beep! Beep! Beep Beep!"?
Haha mine does every time 😂
Dare you to find a man on this planet who has held one and hasn’t said that
My goal s to feel as though I've entered a lush garden
Definitely ideal (:
How about macrame hangers. You can hang them from the ceiling or on the wall. For me my favorites are the ceiling hooks as well as metal or wood plant hangers hung on any wall you want. It is hard to find them here in US, they are very popular in Europe. I'm from Poland so I grew up with it. I have couple of them from Poland but here I discovered great way to make them from metal candle wall sconces fitted with wire decorative bowls secured with zip tighs. You can find these really inexpensive parts in Goodwill or thrift shops. You have great wall hanger you can hang anywhere just with a nails or a screw. Great way to save space at home and have more plants hanging. I just thought you might like this idea.
Do you have pictures of the wall scene planters
Ima convince my bf by showing the hanger next to the rammstein poster! XD
Thank you! Very useful video. Can I ask why you seem to just hang your plants in their plastic straight-from the shop containers? There are so many beautiful hanging planters and types of hanging apparatus (macrame, minimalist wire etc) that would m make your plants look SO much nicer...
Hi sweetie! How do you decide which plants stay in & which plants go outside come spring time? It's kind of that time in TX. (sorry)!
Hi! I will do a video on this next week (:
@@HarliG Yay!!!!! TY 😘💚
I just moved into a new home and have a small office space with a small window on the north side of house (long island). So, no direct sun and not extremely bright, except for electric lighting. I love ferns - do you have a fern recommendation?
Hello Harli, I loved your hanging plant suggestions. I was wondering if you have advice on how to place a plant in a macramé plant hanger? I am tired of the struggle lol!!
How about how to use those plant hooks on thick concrete ceilings? Most, if not all, of the DIY hanging plants videos I see are hanging plants on drywall ceilings.
My question is.. How do you guarantee that when you hang them over the bed they won't mess things up after watering. Draining on the bed or so? Anyone knows?
I get the air quality in the room being better but don’t you hit your head and it will make it harder to get out of bed having ALL those plants hanging around the frame? but thank you for the good description to hang the plants through the ceiling.
