I can buy outdoor cushions for $5 at Walmart. Shower curtains plus the inside 'pillow' will cost about the same. This is why women aren't sewing their clothes like they used to a few generations ago, fabric is so expensive, so it's cheaper and saves time, to buy clothes at thrift stores or on clearance.
Me too. I needed dresses for summer and I'm so overweight I couldn't find anything. I bought everything I needed and I did see 6 dresses but it was so expensive. It's an incentive to lose weight and buy clothes at Kmart, Target or Big W.
He probably should have put the duct tape on the other side instead of the side with the curtain. Or placed something between the side with duct tape and the shower curtain.
I purchased a fabric shower curtain on clearance from Walmart last year and am using it as a table cloth. The amount of fabric you get from a shower curtain is well worth $5 to $10; it's cheaper than paying for it by the yard nowadays.
Using a shower curtain is a great waterproof pillow idea. FWI...you don't have to cut but one long strip of material 15" wide by 45" long. Turn inside out and fold over fifteen inches on the back side. Sew the two sides shut and turn right side out. You now have a pocket pillow. You're right it's simple and a great outdoor solution for comfortable patio furniture!
Awesome idea!!! These would be. Awesome in my classroom! One per group. Fill it with all the supplies needed for the activity. Love it!! Love the music! Love you!! ❤❤❤
You don't need buttons for the pillow. You just need about 2"-3" overlap of the back. By using buttons, you guarantee that only one side will ever be used.
On the pillow back, if you just overlap one piece about 2" over the other one, you'll have an opening for your pillow that will lay flat without buttons after inserting your pillow
You can find some really cheap shower curtains. Outdoor rugs are more expensive than what he used. Some ppl just like to create things instead of just buying them. 🤷🏽♀️ It's feels good to know that you have created something for yourself instead of buying something someone else made. I know it gives me joy !
Heck any one of the 4 he got at dollar tree were pretty enough and I would think that when they were flipped over the rugs and the shower curtain would just slip all over the floor
I agree…I bought one probably 3 times as cheap with beach vibes at Walmart I’m sure far less. Do like idea of pillows, probably make several pillows from one shower curtain. Use old one your replacing. 👍🏼
I live in tornado alley with glass shower doors. My pretty shower curtain hangs outside, but will be flipped to the inside to control breaking glass if I am cowering in the tub.
I make pillow shams all the time and I just use 1 long piece lay it down and figure out how wide it should be the fold the long piece up to where it needs to be so the pillow can fit in. I just see up both side S turn them inside our and slip in the pillow like it's an envelope
It looks good but I’d use different tape as this shows through. Also, the next one, the pillow, use the remaining shower curtain and use on your Adirondack chairs. If there’s not enough, make a roll pillow case.
Good ideas. I would have used an off white tape instead of the gray duct tape, but it still looked nice. Love the pillows. Good projects to do with kids.
The 4 mats covered with the shower cutting was a great idea, especially if you can’t find a rug that matches your decor. There are so many different prints on shower curtains that you’re bound to find a match you need.
OMG! You never use a hot iron on a cutting mat, I could tell it was warping. Took away the joy of this video. Some people can NOT afford to be replacing their mats.
I'm actually in the middle of the shower curtain one but I'm using wood to create mine as wall art. I just need to get being lazy and cut the wood to make the frame.
@Donna777 the shower curtain is 70x70....as much as I hate to make the frame I can't imagine how much it was cost to make something with poster board. I actually purchased some wood...I want to say it said it was shims and that was too light and narrow....bring in the craft sticks.....still didn't work. Which one would you believe as real art....the one that lays on the wall or the one that has crisp sides and the piece sits off the wall? I just need to stop being lazy and cut the wood and make the frame. It was a good thought though.....I actually saw this on UA-cam and she used the wood it's like 2-3 inches thick.
A great idea for inexpensive color on the patio! But the duct tape (which is still visible) is unsightly & definitely diminishes the aesthetic desired! Maybe hot gluing a fabric strip or stitching a wide bias tape? Just saying.
I didn’t grasp the cutting of the back of the pillow but it’s basically the full portion of the front plus four inches. But cut it in half and overlap each piece by about two inches?
Using adhesive spray over what appears to be a wooden table, then ironing a plastic shower curtain on that table could melt it. A list of the type of shower curtain fabric.
That was freaking awesome.I have been thinking of ideas for my porch and them blue chairs i just love and the rug is gorge..Are you in ohio by chance?? Lol
Shower curtain pillow is great idea however ......you really don't need the buttons or loops. Also noticed that you did not pay attention to the run of the fabric. Pattern runs vertical on the front ......horizontal on the back . Both sides patterns should have run the same way .
Got a new cat and she sheds a lot esp where she sits on cotton covered dining room chairs. Thinking to cover the seats with shower curtain as fur won't stick like it does to the cotton. Cross my fingers!
Wear an N95 mask while using the hot glue gun on those mats. They are made with shotty materials that when melting under the glue can give you chemical lung damage
It seems that she really defeated her own purpose in making waterproof outdoor pillows, since she cut the corners off of each for the pillow to poke out. I mean, am I misunderstanding it? It seems like rain could just get in right through the little corners. It was a great craft, though!! I think that personally, I would just hand wash my pillows and once the rain has gone, leave them back out in the sun to dry. It saves plastic, too.
I would suggest to take a transparent tape instead of the grey tape that we can see pupping up when you put it outside... shower curtains are semi-transparent.... but the concept is great!
Great ideas, however, I would have put the duct tape on the design side of the mats, so the white side would be plain white without the duct tape showing through. I ade pillows like that to match my living room decor, using fabric, not shower curtains. I like that I can remove the pillows to wash the cover. I made them soon after we moved to our current home in 1987. They still look great.
For $11 plus tax for the shower curtain, for 4 place mats at $ tree at 1.25 each plus tax, plus the cost of the duct tape and the gorilla glue, then the hot glue, PLUS the time and effort, you could have bought a freaking rug from big lots for the same price if not less for that teeny weenie rug. Plus WHY didn't you use the whole shower curtain?
#1--agree with other comment, duct tape on side that will be the bottom of the "rug" so you can't see it & better protect the seams when in use. And iron the curtain before glueing it down!
Shouldn’t the side with the duct tape have been turned over and been on the back. That way it wouldn’t show through your great looking rug, wall hanging, artwork or etc. I love the concept, great use of shower curtains.
First guy has a great voice for radio! Very soothing
I swear I was thinking the same thing and then I saw your comment ! 😊
Yes he does. 😁

I agree. I was shocked here in Australia i went to my local thrift/charity store for things and it was cheaper to got to Big W :(
Me too. I needed dresses for summer and I'm so overweight I couldn't find anything. I bought everything I needed and I did see 6 dresses but it was so expensive. It's an incentive to lose weight and buy clothes at Kmart, Target or Big W.
For the pillow...please don't use E6000 as your glue. Use fabric glue or stitch witch fuseable webbing.
E 6000 makes a fabric/craft glue. I use it and love it.
Should have put the duct tape on the printed side, and it would have appeared seamless.
Just use clear tape maybe?
@@windblowsone4475There's also white duct tape...
I was thinking the same thing.
That's what I thought, too.
I would not have though to use the shower curtain as a pillow cover. I need to recover my outdoor seat cushions and now I know what to use! Thank you!
Probably far less costly than buying outdoor upholstery fabric.
What does this have to do with a porch??? Besides a rug? I thought this was going to be a design using shower curtains on a porch somehow????
I think it’s waterproofing for outdoor pillows
Crap
I wanted to see porch stuff..
That’s what i thought
Wouldn’t be bad if the duct tape didn’t show 😳
White duct tape from Dollar Tree would have been better!
He probably should have put the duct tape on the other side instead of the side with the curtain. Or placed something between the side with duct tape and the shower curtain.
Use duct tape the same color as the back of the mats
I agree, he should have used white or a clear duct tape.
Yeah, I thought the same
There is transparent duck tape that would work well
I’m just gonna buy one already made
Wow that’s time I’ll never get back
lol
My thought exactly. That first project looked like shyte. Not sticking around to watch the rest of this brain rot.
I’m so pissed.
FOR REAL!
Preschool project

I suggest ironing the wrinkles out of the curtain 1st, before application to the mat.
He's the Bob Ross of mat making. His voice is so relaxing.
I actually use a shower curtain as a normal curtain for my bathroom window cut to size
Did the same
Wow great i idea thanks im going to try it 😊😊😊
I love the shower curtain pillow!
You could use WHITE Duck Tape...😊
Or duct tape the back instead of
Just put tape on other side. Won't show through
The bath mat idea is good but I would have changed the color of the duct tape.
But how do u wash it when it gets dirty ?
@@MStinkyknickershe water proofed it, wipe or hose it off
@@viviansmith5060 what does that have to do with the duct tape?
To me seems like a waste of money. Shower curtains aren't cheap any more. Might be easier to just buy an outdoor rug.

Agree, and after all of the time and waste of money, you can see the duck tape through the curtain. I give this project a thumbs down 👎
I agree…I bought one probably 3 times as cheap with beach vibes at Walmart I’m sure far less. Do like idea of pillows, probably make several pillows from one shower curtain. Use old one your replacing. 👍🏼
Dollar Tree is a store that everything is $1.25
Fabric tape is a good thing too use when folding the edges over too. Especially since ya have the iron out 😉
Tape needed to be on the other side. Damp rag and just a few minutes in the dryer works wonders on winkles.(comments for 1st clip)
We remodeled and now have glass doors. I have several pretty shower curtains that I didn’t know what to do with. Good idea.

The pillow cases she made were a neat idea and cute
Yes, if she had made both sides of the print going the same direction!
In my opinion your DIY’s are a lot of work.
Just in time for summer 🌞❤
Loooks great n the cool part is the duck tape makes a cross for Christ ❤I love it
I love your attitude
Hopefully the mat shower curtain doesn’t get wet … it could become quite slippery😬
Wondering why the duct tape wasn’t applied on the other side of the placemats?
Because then the pattern on the other side would show through the curtain. I would have tried to find some solid color mats.
yep
Try cleat tape.
@@1136MJ You tape the pattern side and then place it face down and then glue the shower curtain to the white side and voila!
@@hollystiener16 right, but then, I would hate the back! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I'm actually in the middle of the shower curtain one but I'm using wood to create mine as wall art. I just need to get being lazy and cut the wood to make the frame.
I bet it will look great when you finish.
You could also use a large foam board.
@Donna777 the shower curtain is 70x70....as much as I hate to make the frame I can't imagine how much it was cost to make something with poster board. Great way to refresh outdoor pillows w shower curtains.
You could use old towels or beach towels for both. It would be even hygienic as they are washable.
Thanks, great to give more info to the young ones for a great learning experience and fun making new things 😊
Always do your corners first. But, it's a great idea.
Cool idea!! Made your own rug. It definitely inspired me.
A great idea for inexpensive color on the patio! But the duct tape (which is still visible) is unsightly & definitely diminishes the aesthetic desired! Maybe hot gluing a fabric strip or stitching a wide bias tape? Just saying.
Love the idea of the waterproof chair pillows!
You can see quite clearly the duct tape thru the shower curtain . Also instead of ironing i would have lightly dampened it and tossed it in the dryer
How much adhesive did you spray on the table?!
Love these ideas 💡💛💚🩷
Cute ideas. I would think the rug may slip because the frontside isn’t grippy.
Buttons are totally unnecessary. I’ve made hundreds of envelope pillow covers and they DO NOT need any type of closure!
In the first clip is that shower curtain fabric or vinyl?
It's good idea thank you for 2 idea 😊❤❤
I've got that shower curtain my my Southwest Florida inspired master bathroom!
For the pillow, she should have made the pattern of the print be the same orientation on both sides.
LOL! "Make sure those mats are nice and even..." then proceeds to tape them completely crooked.
First guy- the Bob Ross of dollar store hacks 😂
Love it ❤!!!
Great idea for the bath mat! I'd use a clear/transparent duct tape though so the tape couldn't be seen on the front of the mat.
Also, shower curtains will fit a twin bed like a bedspread.
You can purchase beautiful shower curtains at the Dollar Tree 😉
Does anyone have a way to make a room divider?
I didn’t grasp the cutting of the back of the pillow but it’s basically the full portion of the front plus four inches. But cut it in half and overlap each piece by about two inches?
This really simplified things for me!
Great Idea, thanku very much ❤
Good ideas!
Cool idea! Thanks..
Glad you like it!
Great idea
Using adhesive spray over what appears to be a wooden table, then ironing a plastic shower curtain on that table could melt it.
A list of the type of shower curtain fabric.
And supplies would be helpful.
Unless you use anti microbial shower curtain you may still get mold from being wet. And they will fade in the sun. Did this years ago.
Would foam board work?
Pillow idea is great… but the front and back design need to be cut the same direction
Pretty 😍😍
Definitely something useful for a quick fix idea for outside or in someone’s shed!! that’s about it or something you can show kids to make lol
That’s too clever. Thanks.
