Hilton....I just decided to look up rubber plant care and chose your video. Thank you so much for posting a clear, concise, informative tutorial. My plant is from a cutting of a much larger one about 85 years ago. So, I guess my plant is also 85+ years old. I’ve done nothing but water once a week for the last 30 years. I do talk to it😊 and occasionally wipe down the leaves. I wanted to learn how to cut it down cuz it’s growing sideways (horizontally) !!
I live in Phoenix Az and have mine in a huge West facing window right up on it and it will spit out a leaf with another new leaf already in it ready to come! It love bright sun light absolutely love it and the leaves are huge!
Thank you for all of your knowledge. My very pathetic looking rubber plant from home depot is flourishing based on the care I give to it I learned from your video!
Only a minute and 30 seconds into your first video that I’ve seen and boooom I subscribed. You have such a positive energy and vibe about you!! Great job!!!!
Thank you! New subscriber here! You just helped me save my darling burgundy rubber tree that my Grandma left me. I love her, but didn't know how to take care of her properly. Thanks so much!
I have a question I have a rubber plant and it has new leaves buds like more than a month but they are not opened/bloomed yet. Im provided it bright light window and taking care of water too. I dont know whats going wrong. Im in newyork and its winter here so do you think is it because of winter. Does rubber plant stop blooming in winter season. Plz help me with this Thanks
Hi Hilton, I recently started taking care on an over 10 year old Rubber tree. It is healthy now, but from many years of being in the wrong light and over watering, it can't hold its own weight and sags sooooo much without a lot of support. I have it supported with a thick piece of bamboo and some green stretchy ribbon. Now that it is thriving, will the main trunk thicken or should I cut it back and propagate the best parts? Also, love these videos!!
Hi! You say to water when top 2” are dry. What if my rubber tree is in a large 12” pot and the top few inches are dry but the middle and kind of the the bottom are still moist, should I still water? Thank you!
What should b done if my rubber plant got doobby leaves because i kept it in direct sunlight Now what will happen? Will it b restore or not?? Plz reply.. Must
Hi my green rubber plant tip got broken by accident and I put the broken tip piece in water to root but I am worried about my plants would it still grow after having no growing tip on the top thanks plants doctor
I have my rubber tree near east window and i think it grows better if the soil is just slightly damp the whole time. Do you think this could be a sign of a root bound plant? Like since there isnt enough soil to retain the water it has to be watered more often? But the roots are not even peeking through the holes in the pot?
THANK YOU! for such informative informative lovely wonderful videos! I seriously learn a lot from these and you are saving so many plants out there 😂😂 specifically my future ones. I've killed too many now and by watching your videos I hope I've changed my ways!! So the Rubber Plant is my next family member to take one! She's comin home this week and will be about 3-4ft - and I wanted to ask. My home is fairly dry, so I have learned from you how to monitor how much water it requires, but I'm curious how often I can spray its leaves to keep the humidity healthy. What would you recommend with a rubber plant in terms of spraying to ensure it is healthy and well taken care of? Thank you and all the best!
Hilton i was wondering you could help me out. I have a tineke rubber plant and it looks happy but one of its leaves has raised up pointing to the sky. Do you have any ideas why this may be happening. It is in a medium light zone, i did water it recently but i try not to over water. I have had it for 2 weeks so im still getting use to its needs. If you could shed any light on this id be so grateful !
they do that sometimes. some leaves just prefer to be vertical. just rotate the pot. this will ensure it gets even light distribution and won't lean over
Hi, I love your videos. Your collection is goals. I recently ordered and received a variegated ficus. It was delivered to me in pretty sad shape. The variegation is almost non existent. Can I expect variegation to come back if I place it in a bright spot? The leaves are droopy, but starting to show progress. Any other tips?
hi! Happy Quarantining! I just attempted to propogate a rubber plant but when I cut the stem it wasn't a clean cut. I had to take 2 or 3 attempts before the scissors went through. will that ultimately be a problem for my cutting or for the mama rubber plant? I love your page and thank you in advance!
My rubber plant's upper leaves are drooping also loosing its hardness. I think it may be symptom of over watering. How can I save dropping rubber plant? I have stopped watering already. I need to replace pot? This pot is already having 12 holes at bottom & current potting mix is 35 to 40% Soil, 15% river sand & remaining cocopeat & compost. I have repotted it last week after taking it from nursery. Looking forward for feedback. I need to save it.
I was wondering about my Rubber plant (Tineke ficus). It started to get red patches on the underside of the leaves. I dont know if it’s a disease or what. I spray it with neem oil when it needs it to prevent pests. Can’t see any pests either.
Oh man! So I had heard that in general cuttings require MORE sunlight than the parent plant. Is it just the rubber tree cuttings that require indirect sun or is it better for most houseplant cuttings? *eyes cradle wall I just built*
I got sticky traps and an insect powder for my plants. Worked very well. Sticky traps caught the bugs flying around and the powder killed anything on the soil.
This video makes me smile hehe :) do you name your plants? And what do you guys usually talk about lol. thanks for sharing. I do have one rubber plants. Her name is grace. She has been with me for about 3 months now but she’s not putting out a single new leaves yet. She looks healthy tho but just no growth :/ I might put her outside for a week or 2 and see.
Hello, anyone knows if it is okay to braid your ficus elastica? Like you can see with pachira aquatica I am pretty sure it is possible thing to do, but just wanted to know if it is actually okay for the plant ?
I don’t know what happened with mine, but my rubber plant‘s leaves are all hanging down and it’s looking so sad:( I don’t know what I did wrong.. when I bought it I changed the soil because I was scared that the old soil wasn’t really healthy anymore & also, I waited for it to dry out completely before watering again. I don’t know what my tree needs #sendhelp ☹️
Hey Doc, the Rubber Plant is my favorite of all my 57 rooted babies (I wouldn't dare say that outloud). Anyways, I just wanted you to know you are awesome, keep up the positive energy. P.S. I collect buckets of rain water (liquid gold!!)🤗
What if my plant is stunted for the last year and only has 4ish leaves? Hoping to jumpstart its growing again. Current leaves are healthy, just no new growth.
Great video. Thx. I have a Rubber Tree and it’s with an wonderful appearance but his leave it’s to slow for growing up. It develop just the beginning but not opens. Can you help me please? 🙌
Yes I have a variegated rubber tree plant that I just inquired, it lost one of it's leaves yesterday I also watered it cuz it was really dry but what are some things that I can do to keep it from losing any more leaves? And basically how often should I water? And I started watering them from the bottom...
If you losing leaves, it maybe to far from a window. Its a tree, so they need the sun to survive. Also, I water mine like once or twice (max) a month. I had it for nearly two years and its thrive. Place it closer to a window.
I thought I was the only one that named my plants! Good to know I'm not the only one who does this. Thank you for the tip! Do you by chance use rocks on the bottom of your pot? I am not sure If I should do this with my Burgundy Ficus Elastica. The leaves died so I am trying to revive it. Any extra tips on this will help big time! Thank you! P.S.. my Ficus' name is Curtis.
My leaves on the bottom are starting to ge droopy. What can I do? Someone please help I’m desperate because it’s my favorite plant I have and I don’t want it to die on me 😭😭
if they are bottom leaves it's normal for this to happen every now and then. try pruning at the top to prevent leaf loss at the bottom. I don't know how big your pot is or what kind of potting mix you have but watering once a week seems excessive, even in warmer months. always check the soil is dry with your finger. if you can feel moisture do not water it. if you are losing many leaves in a short period of time you may have root rot
@@diyamukesh tinequa is still alive! She got leggy so I chopped her right back and now she's a bushy babe. She's also in a sunnier spot and has the cutest tinge of blush on her leaves from the extra sunshine

I went on a vacation and my mother watered it everyday and put it on a dark spot, all the leaves fell out. When I got back I trimmed the top a little bit (about 15 cm) and put it back in the sun, gave it some nutrients and then took care of it as normal.
