It really does work! I like butterfly tapping. I think our mind has a way of adjusting memories when there's a bilateral stimulus. For me, it seems to be different point of views in the memory, or the memory will become less vivid or as up-close. I hope this makes sense. It is definitely worth a try, but it takes commitment and consistency for it to help.
My therapist sends me a link that, when clicked, and we get started, the balls go back and forth and make clicking sounds. kind of like a ping pong ball game. I listen and watch while she guides me through the target memories. It doesn't fix everything, but it's a very powerful tool for recovery IMHO.
YT Community is there anyone who has completed EMDR in therapy? I'm contemplating doing this. I am hesitant bc what am I to do in between sessions if too much anxiety overwhelms me. Is this truly an effective treatment for PTSD and the triggered memories that take me right back to the times and places my traumas occurred? I need effective treatment. Talk therapy helps but even my dreams have been plagued with these debilitating memories. My anxiety is easily triggered. I am 65 y.o. is undergoing EMDR worth it? Thank you for valuable info. ❤
I have not completed EMDR, but I know of a few people who have, and they found it to help significantly. I say you try it. You are 65. You have a lot of life to live.
It was a way to create some 'separation' between the negative events I talk about and people watching, to avoid people affected getting distressed. I started using human figures in my other videos though
