    Dimitra, I just made this morning. Had some trouble to cut top phyllo before baking because the filling was very soft underneath. Still it’s very delicious with taste and aroma of orange. All efforts are worth it when eat it. Thank you for your recipe. I will continue to try your other ones.

    i finally got a good box of filo sheets, so i made them the way my mom likes, rolled up. they looked awesome when i took out of oven. but the sec i poured the cold syrup on them, the filo pretty much softened to mush. i'm guessing the filo was too thin for galaktoboureko. Wish my mom didn't have such a sweet tooth. Because I had some dusted with powder sugar and they were really good.

    • @DimitrasDishes
      @DimitrasDishes  4 роки тому

      Was the syrup cold and the pastry hot? If both things are the same temp: hot and hot, then it results in a soggy pastry... The thinner phyllo does tend to soften much faster than thicker phyllo. Hope this helps!! xoxo

    • @agator7388
      @agator7388 4 роки тому

      SOGGY!!!! Thanks. That's the word I was looking for. But yes, cold syrup on hot pastry. Could the pastry have been too hot??? I did pour the syrup, once I removed the pastry out of oven. Either way, I'm going syrupless from now on, just like with loukoumades. Only baklava will get the syrup. THANKS AGAIN!!! My 89 yr old mom loves watching your videos

      @@DimitrasDishesOh sorry! 😂 I meant those little Greek desert things called "skaltsounia". My mother always called them 'skaltsounakia '. They're like little crunchy turnovers with a spicy honey/walnutty mixture inside, Then covered with icing sugar. You also add a little bit of Ouzo in the dough to give it a great flavour....she's been following a Greek cookbook from I think the 1950's-60's so it's very authentic with the Ouzo but I'd LOVE to see your version. Trust me, They're dee-licious!
