I have been addicted to making this since I came across the recipe last year, just yesterday I made it again and keeping in mind that Armenian moms are tough cook judges ( specially the ones with middle eastern background) , my mom gave thumbs up for something I made for the first time ever!! I luv ur recipes and how u explain everything! Tnx!
I found this, because in 1985, my husband and I attended a Greek christening. At the reception lunch, a soft cheesy lasagne was served. I have dreamt about it, ever since. Thank you, Dimitra
I got the PDO sheep’s milk feta (the one with the EU seal and comes in a tub of brine) and it tasted so fruity and fresh yet creamy! Never getting the normal stuff again lol
I made the dish today and found that I did not have all the ingredients, such as dill flakes, so (according to google) I substituted coriander flakes. It also mentioned basil, so after I heated the spinach I noted some leaves in the colander, so I added them to the spinach and only then did I realize the leaves I added were basil. Then i made the sauce and put the lasagna together and baked it according to your directions. I just tasted the dish and it is sooooooooo good. Thank you.
thought that looked absolutely delicious. !!!!!!! I found you originally by searching for TIROPITA recipe. Yours looks great. I bought all the stuff to make them today. May i make a suggestion? I wish you hadv'e come back after the lasagna cooled off a bit and cut into it and showed us the interior and then take a BITE and describe all the things you taste. That, to me, is what seals the deal when making a recipe. Its my favorite part ever to see the cook taste her creation. THANKS GIRL!
Bonnie Pierce Thanks for your input & for watching!!! This was one of my first videos and I was still figuring stuff out...lol. Still am :)I'll make sure to taste all of the food at the end. It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it :Dxoxo
This recipe is great. I still miss some ground beef/lamb on it, browned in olive oil previously with, perhaps, some garlic and onions and who knows, maybe a dash of fennel??!! Anyhow, I love your videos. Great food...
I know I am way late with this comment, but I only now found your great channel. Thanks especially for the bonus bloopers. The dish is lovely and I will be making it very soon. I will probably use my home made noodles. I think if you would try grating your own whole nutmeg, you would like the taste more. Also have to mention that you put your foil on wrong side down. You are so great not only at cooking, but also at instructing. So glad I have found you. Making gyros with left over leg of lamb tonight, with your cucumber dill sauce.
I made this without the lasagna .. i put the mixture in a Casuella that i spread room temp butter inside and put bread crumbs in the Casulla to form a barrier to the dish . then added the mixture and cooked it for 40 minutes ... it was amazing ... like a crustless spanakopita .... was a big hit !!!
I would normally blanche my noodles. I've tried using them dry and it does work but tends to leave the lasagne a bit dry. In this case I think I will follow your orders as it looks like the entire filling is quite loose and may require the uncooked noodles to give the right structure.
Great job on layering the lazanga noodle s from box instead of pre cooked with water . New top as it cooks with sauce and cheeses. Awesome Tip time saver and less step to make also . Short cut. Spinach ricotta and dry dill and salt and pepper and garlic and butter also mixed and cooked in your metal bowl then add whipped egg mixture to spinach mixture . Then make white sauce with virgin olive oil 1/4 cup 1/4 flour and mixed cooked add 4 cups milk stir and parmesan cheese and nutmeg to sauce stirring till melted . Salt and pepper also to sauce and spinach mixture. Red pepper sprinkles optional . Pinch of that. Put white sauce on bottom of baking pan four noodles across layer on bottom. Another sauce on top of noodles and spinach mixture and then cheese mozzarella cheese greded aon too noodles on top of that and sauce on top of noodles then spinach mixture cheese and oregano spice across that layer also and another layer of noodles three layers total and add last of white sauce to top later of noodles with mozzarella cheese and oregano cover with foil avoid touching cheese . Grease foil with olive oil to avoid sticking on with cheese important step avoid gaps of cheese topping. Cook in oven 400 degree s for 40 to 45 minutes covered and allow to cook uncovered 7 minute s to allow cheese to brown on edge's . Take off foil for that step. Allow to cool. Before cutting into it . About five minutes or so and serve hot on plate ! Warming hot dish. As layers are hot. Serve with Greek salad option as well. As side dish. . Great recipe thank you Dimetra for sharing this Greek meal. Awesome recipe!. Good for lent no meat . Thank you again.
I love “No Boil” lasagne pasta. They bake quicker too. I use two boxes. Add a little milk as the box says according to the Amount of past used. This pasta is delicious. Mind cooks in 30/ 40 minutes. I test it with a knife inserted. I love this oven pasta.
Love your recipes!!! I've yet to try one, but they look delicious! So I had a question, can I put chicken or gyro meat in this? If I use frozen gyro meat, should I reheat it first before putting it in the lasagna? I've been wanting to try your homemade gyro recipe as well lol but just havent had the time.
Hi Demitra...love the recipe I am going to make it for sure..I have a question please..I buy whole milk ricotta and it is a little grainy...I buy the best in the grocery store..is that normal for ricotta to be grainy...❣❣❣
I know what you mean. It depends on the brand. Some are creamier than others and that matters more when making desserts like cannoli, or cake icings. You can use what you find for this recipe :)
Found your videos by chance . You make wonders with phyllo . Saw the lasagna recipe and thought you ‘d be using phyllo . Ok , I’ll stick to your other recipes . You’re great anyway .
So sorry about that. I hired someone to fix my website and now I have a huge mess to clean up.. Here's the recipe. I will fix that link soon! www.dimitrasdishes.com/spinach-cheese-lasagna/
This looks so delicious! However, I really try to stay away from pasta (or carbs in general). But as I was watching this, I think I might try substuting chicken cutlets for the noodles. I think it will be delish!
Cauliflower slices work and so will zucchini! Pan fry the zucchini first to get rid of the excess moisture. Let me know how it turns out. I’m doing keto too 🤗 I love it except when I’m teaching holiday desserts. 😂
It should be visible. So sorry you're experiencing this difficulty. You can also try going directly to www.dimitrasdishes.com After that, type the name of the recipe you are looking for in the search bar. Hope this helps.
Greek style? Sorry...but this is NOT Greek... mozza, sundried tomatoes, and lasagne noodles? The only GREEK ingredient is the feta... skip the feta and what do you have? Spinach lasagne...ie: Italian... Sorry... but this one does not fly....

I love your red lasagna dish. Can you tell us where you got it?
I bought that baking tray from my local HEB supermarket many years ago :)
Found your videos by chance . You make wonders with phyllo . Saw the lasagna recipe and thought you ‘d be using phyllo . Ok , I’ll stick to your other recipes . You’re great anyway .
Dimitra, I’m actually going to make this soon. Most of the time I just say, “Someday...” But I’m going to do it! I will post pictures!
This looks so good! Also, is there a brand name on the bottom of that baking dish your using?
I bought it from my local HEB supermarket, years ago :)
Looking forward to making this! Can I make the day before and refrigerate? If so, what would be the cooking time?
Greek youtube videos
I'm getting very hungry.
Oh ye, i can hear the angels signing.
Are your no-cook noodles specially designed for that or are they regular lasagna noodles? -Blessings
They are sold as ready to bake noodles, not the regular noodles.
wow I love that lasagna pan!!!!lol
I would love to try this. The link to your site does not have the recipe! I tried under several names....
So sorry about that. I hired someone to fix my website and now I have a huge mess to clean up.. Here's the recipe. I will fix that link soon! www.dimitrasdishes.com/spinach-cheese-lasagna/

Do you think zucchini will work instead of lasagna? Do you have any suggestions for making this KETO friendly
Cauliflower slices work and so will zucchini! Pan fry the zucchini first to get rid of the excess moisture. Let me know how it turns out. I’m doing keto too 🤗 I love it except when I’m teaching holiday desserts. 😂
I have an amazing keto moussaka on this channel.

okay.
It would still be delicious. My daughter doesn't like them either.
@@DimitrasDishes very nice I will try it made the spankopita too good luv y cooking
Thins is not spankopita?
Whoa. That was a LOT of oil in spinach!
Lasagna is actually an Ancient Greek dish not Italian :-)))
Good to know :) Thanks!!
@@DimitrasDishes Pasta and Macaroni are Greek words also :-)))

We just see you not your what ever you cook
You don't boil lasagna. Boil pasta, stop talking with your hands. You need a lot of of practice still.
Shut up
