This is a longplay game Marvel Super Heroes - War of The Gems played with all the characters. This game covers the history of gems of great power and are being hunted by villains, these villains want to join them to get the blue gem, which originates with the union of all others. Under the supervision of Adam Warlock, our heroes (who are also members of the Avengers):
Captain America (Steve Rogers),
Spider-Man (Peter Parker)
Wolverine (Logan)
Iron Man (Anthony "Tony" Stark),
and Hulk (Robert Bruce Banner)
need to travel the planet to not let these gems fall into the wrong hands. (Note: I put the names of the characters above as the game shows the profile of each one of them but I would have expected the scene introduction five times in a row and it would not be a good idea, but all other scenes of this game are included) -

I'm impressed that they used the dopplegangers straight from the infinity war comics. Also throwing in enemies like puck and sasquatch.
I mean, they save on secondary character designs and give more variety.
I like how Ironman might be in trouble with more than 2 minutes in clear water, while Captain America apparently can leisurely walk into lava.
Responding to an old comment here, but I always thought it was funny how Spider-Man was way weaker than Captain America here, and that the Hulk moved so slow.
Love how the sound of Wolverine's claws hitting an enemy is the same as firing a silenced pistol in Goldeneye on the N64.

Fun fact, this game while primarily tells the story of the Infinity Gauntlet miniseries, also mixes events and characters from Infinity Crusade (hence the evil versions of heroes and the Magus as a mid boss) also is worth mentioning some characters that were in the original story are using different costumes that reflect the time this was released, like Nebula having her more known bald look though in the original comic she had long hair and Dr. Strange having his "Marvel Edge" costume.
War of the Gems has always been my favorite game! This is the best game to play after Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame! I met Stan Lee 4 years ago in Cincinnati, Ohio!❤️😊👊🏾

I remember how disappointed I was when this came out I thought it was going to be a port of Marvel Superheroes based on the early poster art lol
The sound track is on fire! I still remember it almost 30 years since I listened to it.
This games music was unreal. Any time the infinity stones were a part of the conversation, the music let you know it was serious
This was one of the first games I got with my Super Nintendo games as a kid. Sucks that it didn't get the attention it deserved.

This game is pretty sweet. I like it how they basically have the Marvel Super Heroes sprites of Iron Man, Captain America and Spider Man on the select screen.
which is also wierd since wolverine and hulk appear in the game but their portraits are different for some reason lol

My brother got me this game for Christmas when I was in high school. Absolutely loved it.

This was my favorite game. And what love about it the most was the music.
I've played this decades ago. Now I'm going to see Endgame, and it gives me the feels. I feel like the lil' old me is still alive. I feel like this story has grown just like me, now I'm an adult, and now this story is on the theaters. Man, I should go buy my popcorn soon.
Watching Infinity Wars made me think of this game I used to play. Never realized how it's basically the same story. One of my favorite side scroller games for the SNES. I always liked the slow-mo when you finish a boss. Spiderman and Ironman were my favorite to play, but I liked Captain America for the shield.
Loved this game when I was a kid. Childhood memories. My favorite character to use was Hulk and Wolverine.
Thank you for posting and making me remember the hours I spent playing this game. As Spidey is my favourite Marvel Hero, I completed this game playing only with him. Although I never knew how to make the special attacks. BTW, I equipped him with the time gem.

Man to think I played this game when I was soooo young that I had no idea who any of these characters were aside from SpiderMan and Wolverine cause of the animated shows. It's a trip seeing it again!
X-Mean Mutant Apocalypse is my all time favorite beat-em up game. I found out this game is based off of it with much of the same mechanics but I was disappointed how slow it is, and the difficulty of the game- it's not difficult in a challenging way, more like an annoying way with all the water and obstacles and shit

Xmen mutant apocalypse and this were like twin brothers, they were so good, the old capcom did know how to make really good games. Spiderman lethal foes for snes japanese was excellent too but never got a usa nor europe release.
And it sounds kind of "Strange"(no pun intended),that it was a japan exclusive game based on an American superhero.
Mr Barrington Yeah but Spiderman was VERY big in Japan in the 80’s and 90’s. Hell he even had his own live action show there I believe.
Capcom games of that era had a special quality and feel to them.

I like how they used some sprites from Marvel Super Heroes (1995) on the Character Select screen (also for Blackheart). This game was released in 1996.
Used to beat this game at least 5 times a week for awhile, as a kid.

Wish Genesis had a Clone Wars -esque version; cause that was the better X-men and system...Cough...imo.

My moms copped me the game more or less back when it dropped. Always been a fan and I used to play this joint ALL the time. I picked Spidey, mostly, of course. 🤙🏻

Adam Warlock’s minor appearances in this game are a better representation of the character than the one seen in Guardians of the galaxy 3.

This is X-Men Mutant Apocalypse just switched out with Avengers characters! Still a great game though. Remember playing it till I worked up my own strategy guide & even setting fastest times lol.

Don't get why this game gets so much hate here in this comment section. At least for me it was a very enjoyable game.. Sure it's not perfect (far from it) and have some flaws, but it's part of my childhood and maybe one of my favorite games from SNES. As someone who don't read comics, this game was indeed how I meet certain marvel characters like Iron Man, Adam Warlock, Magus, Nebula and Thanos a long time ago. Also, it's cool to watch the movies nowadays and kinda relate it to this game, that was something cool from my childhood many years ago.
Microtron's Grid My love for this game is based on merit and not on nostalgia. And my mind will never change about this.
Kizaru I completely agree with you, man. I played War Of The Gems for the first time back in the late 90s and I love how I knew about the Infinity Stones (called the 'Infinity Gems' in this game) even before Marvel Cinematic Universe movies like Infinity War came out thanks to War Of The Gems.
It's common to see "my childhood!" in the comments sections of gameplay videos for pretty objectively mediocre games. I wouldn't say this is a bad game, but it's definitely flawed, and certainly there are FAR FAR better games on the SNES, but people will love it because of the licensed characters/universe (which is why I imagine the developers phoned in the gameplay, they knew it would sell well as long as it was a halfway decent game). You are of course entitled to your opinion, but I've enjoyed games as a child and upon reflection they were most definitely mediocre/bad, but of course as a child you don't have as much exposure to different games so you have no context as to what makes a good game. Honestly if you removed the licensed characters from most of these games, I doubt many people would be nostalgic for them.
This Hulk/Thanos fight is a deleted scene from the rematch we should've got in Endgame.

I love the randomness of having 2 Alpha Flight characters (as enemies though)
It’s a shame they didn’t have the likes of She-Hulk, Hawkeye and Vision as extra characters as they have them as enemies (although memory might have been an issue)
I guess I'm more at odds with the fact that Wolverine while was with the Avengers (briefly), that Thor wasn't in this one instead of Wolverine.

so if any 2 characters had to be in a marvel game, wouldn't it be Spiderman and Wolverine

This game is side-scrolling platformer/beat 'em up based on the events of Marvel Comics' series The Infinity Gauntlet and The Infinity War. Adam Warlock calls on the heroes to recover the 6 Infinity Gems before they are used for evil. Although War of the Gems is based on a similar storyline as the Capcom arcade game Marvel Super Heroes, and each of the playable characters retains one of the special moves they had in that game, it is not a port; War of the Gems instead features gameplay similar to Final Fight and X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse. This was released late in the SNES's life.

I like that all the heroes have different abilities. Spider-Man and Wolverines ability to climb walls, Hulks ability to dish out massive damage, Spider-Man, Captain America, and Iron Man's ability to attack as long distances, and Iron Man's ability to double-jump and move really quickly. But at their core, They all act the same. They walk around and beat the ever-loving Christ out of EVERYTHING in their path.
If you ask me, I think Iron Man is the best character to use. His mid-air dash attack has got to be the most over-powered attack in the game, plus he has pretty good attack power, and he can fire lasers both directly ahead AND diagonally after a combo. Also, his double-jump can really save your ass if you walk off a cliff over a bottomless pit or lava or something ( when is Megaman gonna learn that trick? ), which would otherwise prove fatal for everyone else ( unless your fast enough with Spider-Man and Wolverine and can grab the wall behind you before you fall off the level ).

Saddly since the game re uses sprites from MSH, and there was no Thor in the arcade game to begin with, they just didn't bother to make new sprites for Thor, maybe if this was made after MVC1 they could had used Thor assist animations as a basis but we will never know.
