This is a longplay of game Marvel Super Heroes - War of The Gems. This game covers the history of gems of great power and are being hunted by villains, these villains want to join them to get the Blue Gem, which originates with the union of all others gems. Under the supervision of Adam Warlock, our heroes (who are also members of the Avengers): Captain America (Steve Rogers), Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Wolverine (Logan), Iron Man (Anthony "Tony" Stark) and Hulk (Robert Bruce Banner) need to travel the planet to not let these gems fall into the wrong hands. This video was played with all the characters and is an enhancement of my previous longplay of this same game that I recorded in 2012. The previous video I recorded of this game was recorded with the PAL version (50hz) due to my inexperience at the time and this was recorded with the NTSC version (60hz) and with improvements in graphics core, sound and speed (i used Bizhawk and USA game), as well as improved and more varied gameplay and i use all gems too. I still have this game, the gameplay is great, the soundtrack is very good, I still play it from time to time, X Men for the SNES is also very good it uses the same engine, Capcom beat them ups and platformers from the 90's are incredible they really knew how to handle it.

I remember this game. I would rent this with a SNES for a weekend when it first came out back in the day. I used Spider Man and Wolverine to get the power ups I would need badly.

I still have this game. I always play it from start to finish.
One thing I'm impressed about is that this game didn't have a Spider-Man clone to fight. Given that it was the '90s and the Clone Saga was a thing, it was a good reprieve for Spidey to not have to deal with clones. Besides Doppelganger.

This games (this one and Xmen apocalypse) are built around higly compressed sprites of the cps2 arcade fighting games, specifically Xmen Children of the Atom for Xmen Apocalypse and Marvel Super Heroes for War of the gems, while this meant cut cost for a lot sprites it also meant that they had to cut a lot of frames which made Spidey walk cycle ending up looking weird, but if you look at how he walks in the "Capcom vs" series you will see what it suppose to look like.

"Infinity War" the movie was based off of two comic book stories, "Thanos Quest" and "Infinity Gauntlet" (these are the ones where Thanos seeks the gems and the heroes fight him). The sequel to THOSE in the comics was a story called "Infinity War" (different story but they used the title for the movie), where a cosmic guy (Adam Warlock's evil double Magus) sent evil clones of the superheroes to distract them from his schemes. Interestingly, if you ever played "Maximum Carnage", this is where the Doppelganger (Spider-Man but evil and with fangs and six arms) came from. Hope that helps.
@@SuperSaiyanGuyver Ah, gotcha. It's based on that storyline then. I remember reading up on a synopsis of that comic, but I didn't see the actual panels (I'll have to change that someday). Thanks for the info!

Infinity Crusade. To the best of my knowledge, no. But seeing as it was about her collecting heroes for her cause, it'd make a nice plot for a mobile game.

@@menartd2618 Probably. But since the Goddess (or whatever her name was) basically treated the Marvel heroes like Pokemon in the story, I meant it would be a nice hook for one of those "Collectible heroes" kinda games.

Is this game really that easy with the bosses you can just juggle them into a loop to death so fast? Or is some code in play?
Is more of a thing to finding the sweet spot of the enemy hit box that allows you to repeat the first half of the combo to cancelling with a turn around Final Fight infinite style, the game is pefectly doable without this trick but is saves a lot of time with bosses.
Spider-Man one shots enemies with a drop kick. Wolverine with adamantium claws has to hit the enemy several times...
Still way better than the new Marvel Avengers game.

@@LemoNanora yep although I'm surprised they didn't do that with wolvey and hulk because capcom is famous for that at the time but I guess since they had new sprites and artwork that would work with the character select I guess they didn't need it
The Wolverine is taken from X-Men #1. Highest selling comic of all time+ Jim Lee art = heck YES we're using it.

You must be thinking modern Marvel Comics and Post MCU. In the 90s; these guys WERE Marvel.
This game was SUCH a letdown after X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse. That game had an original story, a great and varied cast of playable characters (and villains), the Danger Room as an excuse to fight fun bosses, and clever level design. THIS one seems like a step down in every way except for the graphics. Shame, really.
@Ivan orozco I wanted to like this game, I did. It just feels like such a B grade effort after Mutant Apocalypse knocked everything out of the park. And since that game came first, it's a huge letdown.
It was ok but the X-Men SNES game was better and Magneto was tougher than Thanos
This game was originally suppose to be an Avengers game but since there already was an Avengers game on SNES, they rename this to Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems and just added Wolverine to the Avenger team. Wolverine and the X-Men originally had nothing to do with the Infinity War. Wolverine was included cause his sprite was already use for this engine and Capcom couldn't get the rights to use Thor, Nick Fury, or Black Widow. In the PS1 and Saturn version of the story which was turn into a fighting game, both Wolverine and Psylocke from Children of the Atom were kept whereas Juggernaut and Magneto were added as playable villains since fans were angry both are not playable in Children of the Atom. Wolverine, Psylocke, Juggernaut, and Magneto all had nothing to do with the Infinity War storyline.
