  • On the route of the Kettle Valley Railway, we are stopped by horrible road conditions, so we try a new road, which is "better." We end up off road on a trail up high in the mountians, navigating switchbacks on our way to chute lake camp with jagged rocks and soft shoulders all along the road.
Then, we explore the history of transportation and agriculture in the Okanagan Valley by looking at two canals that were used for transportation and irrigation. Wine and fruit are staples of the economy.
In the heart of wine country, the irrigation canal is incredibly important to the farming and agriculture of the Valley. The shipping, railway, and transportation also played an important role in the industry of the Okanagan Valley.

The Kelowna Bridge is the only way across the lake. There is no alternative to cross over the lake, which is why we had to turn back. It has caused traffic problems for years. The other highway takes you hours out of the way and is not an option.
