How did you determine this to be your issue? My passat was driving fine then randomly starts to sputterm im going to run the reader on it. But i think this could be my issue as wellm
VW Passat would misfire on and off for months. Engine and RMP would rev/ car would bounce. Got to the point it would just randomly die while at a stop light. VW mechanics and another shop couldn’t trace the engine code that randomly comes on and off. Spent over $1000 trying to fix this. So far this is working! Thank you!
can we be honest that VW mechanics are actually brain dead most of the time and will drown your money while making you feel crazy and THEN fix it later. i can’t be the only one dealing with this issue
they tend to misfire when cold, the pin gets stuck with oil slug, as the slug in the magnet warms it works normal. Shot parts cleaner straw through the small holes. The pin will free fall when cleaned no need to buy a new one.
I had one, about a month back, on a Passat that I replaced same part on. It would intermittently run rough. The plunger seemed to work ok when you would flip it over..must of had a week plunger or solenoid. The thing set like 10 codes all from that one issue lol. Lean codes, misfire codes, timing codes, fuel pressure codes..crazy that one part could set all that. Knowing what data pids to look at helped a ton though. Good find 👍
@@yanbaihuzxzxzx no I didn't replace it. To be honest I dont really work on many Euros and at the time wasn't sure if there were any special tools to remove it. I didn't want to take a chance and damage it trying to remove it. It wasn't turning out easily so didn't want to chance it. But yes I would agree as its good measure to change it out as preventitive.
@@Raylude5 it can cause alot of misfiring, I changed all this, bought this passat of mine from a used dealership had timing chains and covers that had to be replaced. Magnet and spark plugs well after all that shit, car was still running rough. I said this 140 part was the last thing, replaced it and bam the car ran good ever since. The oil is the big factor in these cars. I wouldn't go past 5k without a oil change for these cars

Lol if youre going to replace the magnet you might as well replace the camshaft sensor snd value spindle, the spindle is in where the magnet goes, you can see it where the magnet is removed. If your going to remove the magnet might as well replace that lil bastard as well. Also for these engines, change your oil regularly, 5w -40 european oil.
@@lostheartmega5388 going to need to clean the intake valves, I use 93 expensive but gives the car what it needs fuel wise. Cleaning intake valves is next. 1500 to do it at my neck of the woods. Walnut blasting
I did the timing chain and hpfp on my vw passat 2006 2.0l FSI, and it's now showing no sign of starting it turns by the crank but doesn't ignite at all

Hi what did you look at to confirm this was the issue? Is there some live data I should look at or just change it and see?. My vw looses power when acceleration and gear changes. I am thinking that when going to a higher speed the ecm wants to change timing and it fails to do so.

BUT haven't been able to fix the Problem yet but I'm going to change that magnet solenoid anyway...I have Spend over 1500 on different mechanics and still they haven't found the Problem I only KNOW that every morning I started the car I leave it at over 2000rpms for at least 10 minutes and the car drives FINE

My Passat b8 during generate burn engine oil . Machanic check that and he fix turbo seal . But still I can smell of smoke inside car and after one week my car oil level goes down . I don’t no this oil goes in dpf or from somewhere else .

@@CROFTY71 if you walk into a Volkswagen dealership they will. Cuz I just done it. They replace these quite often. Some kid working at a advance auto making 15 a hour won't know. Solenoid magnet, or magnet don't know what else to call it the avg mechanic will know.

@@christopherlewis6270 no. But, my spark plugs were black and burned. I changed those and cylinders 3 and 4 new spark plugs messed up already. Misfires are still happening. I bought new coils, spark plugs, camshaft magnet, seal gasket for that. Will work on that Friday. Maybe it's not the camshaft magnet.

Hey Oz, I got a question. So on my car I replaced all the spark plugs and coil packs and it’s reading cylinder 2 misfire. Therefore it’s on and off that the misfire occurs then stops. Therefore would it be the cam shaft magnet since I as well replaced the cam shaft intake sensor too.
@@art-ip4ue I got an update for you, so I had done all the work on mine, replaced all the coil packs and spark plugs, cam shaft magnet solenoid with timing chain and it sorted out all the problems related to it. I had about 237k kms about 180k miles. Therefore regarding to your TCS, it is on because your bearing gone bad, and with it your sensor too. Though if you tell me your mileage i can give you a better answer.

My magnet doesn’t take as long to fall as yours in the video but it’s inconsistent sometimes faster sometimes more sluggish does it mean the same that it’s bad?

What code was it throwing?
The dealer tried to charge me $650 to replace this. I did it myself with an amazon part, works like a charm!

Did you change the timing spindle as well. I would if you haven't. Not to hard to change.

Could this camshaft adjuster magnet cause a P0341 DTC? I’m on the struggle bus to figure out what’s wrong with my 2009 Tiguan 😛
Yes it can. A bad VVT solenoid or cam bridge screen can cause P0341 as well as P0011 along with misfire codes on all cylinders.

Not expensive at all. Febi sells an aftermarket version which he probably had and the vvt actuator is well priced too

It can also be an injector gon bad or built up carbon on your intake valves.
