    • @oxdudepoege
      @oxdudepoege 9 років тому +2

      Michael Berg yes, thats the trick. first a hard push in to release the tension on the notch and then you often can tilt the hook by hand and then remove the connector. damn, i chance spark plugs to often on my R32, o0

    I could not get them off and cursed and swore until I saw another video... Which showed me to first raise the connector to about 5 degrees against the coil and then press the lever to release and push the connector back, away from the coil. Then they came off easily on all four of my coils. I was amazed. I think your video explains WHY this works...

    What colors stand for 1 2 3 and 4 what are they ground mode ignition signal

  • @JohnDoe-gm5qr
    @JohnDoe-gm5qr 8 років тому +4

    Not only do they grab the tab and pull the connector but these connectors are facing backwards so they are kinda hard to remove sometimes. That makes me wonder how many of these get pulled at an angle inadvertently because of them being such a tight fit. It is not like you can stand behind them where you have a good angle on them and remove them more easily. All it takes is a clumsy person trying to get that off the coil and next thing you know it is time to order more parts.

    We were in the driveway near the car one day and I could smell electrical smoke coming from the car. After removing the air box (pain in the ass) I discovered a faulty plug that was melting the connector and coil.. (car was not on or key in it). Was lucky I was there to save the car from further damage. Bought a new connector housing, savaged the wires from the old one and bought a new coil and haven't had a problem since.

    Question! I have broken 2 electrical clip connectors, or not sure of the correct name. It is that little flat plastic flap that holds one connector to outlet, I use a hook to remove them and placed too much force. Is there a way to fix that? Or just have to replace all the conector.

    Just had to replace my entire wire harness for the coils on my 1.8t last winter, 034 Motorsports makes a nice kit that integrates the nice rubber boots that come on the back of newer cool wires as well as some heat protection for the wires them selfs. It does require splicing into the wires and then pinning them into a nice plug that plugs into their nice wiring harness for the coil packs

    the money quote: connector plastic gets brittle with age and heat. I see various posts on Amazon for "VW ignition coil connector repair harness" . some of the kits even include the orange and purple seals and locks.
    I wonder if this is good idea to replace connectors if doing a pre-emptive 100k service to replace Coil and spark plugs in 2.0T TSI?
    Also, a possible alternative for the expensive $50/each VW key tools, do an amazon search for "Terminal Removal Tool Kit".

    Hey man, I recently tried to replace the connectors with new ones since the old ones were old, broken, and brittle on my 1.8T....long story short there were some exposed wires on one of my coil pack connectors and I guess two of them touched which created a short circuit. I'm not sure if it messed up my coil pack or if it burned the wires which I really hope isn't the case. Can any of you guys tell me what to do in this situation? Much appreciated, thanks.

    My MK3.5 Cabrio with 159,000mi has blown 7 ignition coils in the last 4 months, just had a Bosch melt thru the top the other day. Engine etc runs great aside that, so I'm very stumped! The Bosch lasted about 1,500 miles. No cel, no codes. New plugs, wires, dist cap & rotor. Connections seem fine.
    Bad ground somewhere perhaps, or voltage regulator issue?

    • @MichaelKirbyMusic86
      @MichaelKirbyMusic86 2 роки тому

      Yes, in my instance it turned out to be a bad maf sensor, somehow I guess sending a continuous reading which kept the CPU telling the coil to keep on running, after the maf replacement, no more blown coils. Went thru 12 of them.
      I'd imagine there's probably more things on other people's cases that could cause a coil to keep running, in mine it turned out to undoubtedly be the maf.
      Sold my Cabrio a few months ago sadly, developed an oil leak I didn't know about & engine seized up. Got myself a supercharged Pontiac gtp

At first I thought it was gonna be bad because because of that stupid EPC light n engine light on. And happened today but for the last few weeks iv noticed it's been slightly off n figured a spark plug or two was on their way out lol. We got a 2010 VW CC Sport it's the TSI 2.0 "Turbo 4 cylinder" this is actually the first time it's done this. We had it for 3 yrs now n it's always been a quick snappy pretty powerful car until this morning lol. It does have the K04 turbo and a few aftermarket parts on it. Hello all, if anybody could offer help or advice it would really be appreciated. I purchased a 2005 audi a4 (about 82,000 plus miles on it) 2.0t back in 2012-13. Car ran fine almost brand new up until 2016 when I experienced my first ignition coil failure. Since then, it seems I have to take the car every 1.5 to 2 months for a new coil. I get the same issues alot of people experience when they fail vibration, CEL, low power acceleration. Thing is that the car runs smoothly and I believe everything is still in order besides the coils keep failing. I am at 123,071 miles now and I feel like if I could find out why the coils keep failing and replace the faulty part or parts, the car would give me more work. Any suggestions or fixes would be greatly appreciated thanks!!
