Oh man, your story and my story are soooooo similar. I’m 61, own next to nothing, and have been soooooooo happy that way for around 15 years when I lost everything (before then I was very materialistic and wasn’t at peace or happy). Only now, after all that time am I truly ready to let go of my ‘work passion’ for a whole new chapter. Brand new canvas and I’m sooooo excited. You are sooooooo right about everything you say. I believe you needed to lose that business, maybe if you didn’t you wouldn’t be here today. I believe in God, in guidance etc etc and what happened to you was for your highest good. I love you man, you are incredibly interesting and you are loved, - not just by those around you,but by all the lives you are touching with your message. What more do you need!

In a hundred years nobody is going to care how big your house or what kind of car you drive, how sucssessful your buisness was. 40 yrs of sobriety here. Had many ups and downs in life. I worked for myself most of my life, not sure how I finally made my life a bit better, but it was a struggle. Had a fabulous retail store that finally failed during gulf war, so many ups and downs. Life is a constant up and down riding these waves.
I accomplished a lot and sometimes do not give myself the credit for changing things when the tides changed. I know those struggles of really not wanting to go back to certain types of work that can take over your life. You and I could have some real discussions. Hang in there, it does get better. I think we can become more peaceful through acceptance. In my mind Failure is really an illusion. We just get up each day and try again, that’s all we have. And, you are right health is everything…most important.

I appreciate your honesty. It is a lot more useful to hear about people's failures than an endless stream of UA-cam videos about how successful people appear to be. The truth is most people fail at things. Overcoming these failures is really the best information for people to hear. Otherwise, everyone feels that they are the ones doing really badly, and everyone else is succeeding.

Hi Patrick, thanks for your videos, I just subscribed. Your story has really helped me. I’ve beaten myself up after losing many millions and feel like I don’t have the energy to rebuild. My self worth has been tied to my net worth. Also an alcoholic. I’m going through your 3 year period.
Can you post a video about that period of your life and how you transitioned to the other side.
I think it would help a lot of us, give us hope and maybe a roadmap to design a better life.
    Would really appreciate it.
    Nick

I watched a some of your video but can't watch it all. It is painful. I am in a similar boat. But I know from all the hard lessons I have learned what to teach my children to look out for. Now you have the chance to really help them build a fabulous life.

The greatest wealth is health. Without it, nothing matters. Nothing will bankrupt you faster than health related issues... Nobody thinks about that when they are younger because everyone feels a sense of invincibility earlier on in they're journey. However, it's a double edged sword in the fact that "time" gives you everything in the beginning but at some point that same "time" comes knocking and wants everything back.. Once time strips you of everything at a certain point all you are left with is memories of a life you once lived. Nothing is promised other than taxes and death. So live your life on your terms and don't let societal influences, negativity, titles, materialistic garbage dictate where you think your life should be. Keep it 120/80 always.... Life is an "illusion"... Once that is realized, you will live in peace... Best regards....

I’ve been a bar owner for 18 years. Very successful and I’m 48. I’ll go until I’m 55 but then I’m out! You don’t see many 60 year old plus bar owners. There’s a reason why.

I had an ex son-in-law that was very entrepreneurial and opened a nice restaurant in Texas City Texas and had very nice decor and food but the restaurant failed and he found out that in that working class town people were intimidated by the decor and would rather eat at a card table

Looks like you’re doing great, happy, and enjoying your life. All the money in the world can’t buy that. Keep making the great videos! I personally think Florida is a tough market for restaurants versus up north just from what I’ve seen living in both places. I personally think you’re living a dream most would want! Look at the ocean view and white sand beach !

    Thank You
I identify a lot with your story.
I worked for myself; over 45 years had 3 businesses.
Had my day in the sunshine, then went bankrupt in 2008.
Went penniless again when the pandemic came and at the age of 65 closed my business.
I started doing Uber, then became a private driver for various people.
I have been in recovery a few 24's, it saved my life, and I am very involved in the fellowship.
I get calls from time to time from business associates to start up my business again.
    At 68 I don't want the anxiety.
I don't want to try to conquer world anymore.
But...... that entrepreneur in me is still there.
I too am in much better place with a lot less money.
    Be well

I just wanted to say that you actually saved my mental stability. I also was a millionaire ( not to your extent, aprox 2.2m. For 23 years I was married to a women with 2 wonderful grown children now. But on my 50th birthday, I thought what am I doing? She worked in a lightly no brain job making $30k a year nd never even had to pay a phone bill, let alone too the $100s of thousands. I spent for my children’s high high end sports at the time. She drove Navigatiors, Escalades, Mercedes, million dollar home, as well as $50 k extra every year I would give her from my multiple buiss

Added to previous reply. When I decided that I mentally needed a new start, it literally cost me 40 yrs of work. From a small town , bashing me, ruining my reputation also costing me my children’s inheritance, my reputation ( until the truth came out) but first one to mention it,,, Generally is the one to be believed. I wanted to give up. Until I watched your story. We used to spend 3 months in Florida every year. Now I’m not sure , I can even afford to go anymore. But that isn’t so important anymore now I’ve watched your videos. You obviously have a wife that truly loves you. Kudos. I ,,, only now have found my soulmate, who I’ve known and been best friends for past 20 yrs. I just wanted to once again say THANK YOU. Apologies for my 2 part message!,,, ya took my shame away, from being one of the most successful people in my home town, to being unnoticed. Which I enjoy much more than my the stress of my past life. Cheers pal.
