Many years ago, I had a decent job making good money. One day, I'm carjacked, knocked out, thrown in the back seat, driven out in the middle of nowhere, stopped on a bridge and thrown off into a river. I survived but set me back years and years. Started over, invested in the market, made money and finally was able to retire but went through a lot of ups and downs,. Started back over various times. I hear your story and it rings a bell because I worked in the restaurant business for many years. Never have been able to figure out why when I hear famous people starting a restaurant. Must be a vanity issue. Today at 71, it's the little things that make me so happy, health being one of them.

This homeless lady was definitely a clairvoyant and saw your energy being depleted day by day. Your vulnerability and transparency is what this world needs. I applaud you and feel this is all for a reason for you to just live your life ... outside, enjoying the sun. What is the most impressive is how much love you show for each other despite all the ups and downs. This is a success story for me and I thank you for sharing that 💞✨

@@MaryONeil-ks5mekeep after him, Mary. I’m a retired medical provider (medical/psychiatric) social worker. I’ve seen countless millionaires who make their stressful jobs their focus and they don’t live healthy lives and end up with complicated health conditions. Sometimes we have to lose to win. But when it comes to healthcare, don’t delay. Patrick looks better now than back in his younger years. Your lives now are beautiful. Remember it’s not about the “stuff” but our relationships. You live lives others would die to have.

Thanks for your video. I use to live in a 5,000 square foot house on some acreage. I now live in a 1 bedroom apartment with a kitchen/living room. The feeling of not having all that "stuff" has helped me get rid of a lot of stress. Very frugal today where in the past I wasn't. I completely understand how you feel. Live a good life and celebrate each day as a gift. At the end of the day, everything will work out.

I truly have a heart for business owners, especially since early 2020 when SHTF. I don't wish a day-to-day struggle on anyone, especially owners/operators. It breaks my heart to see a fraction of the foot traffic at so many businesses now compared to 4.5 years ago. You're right - it's not having things you want, it's wanting the things you have. When you look at it that way, you both are still millionaires many times over and that's what matters most.

I really appreciate how honest you are about your failures in life. First of all, few have the guts to admit to that & instead chose to pretend that they are always successful to protect their weak egos. It takes true strength & integrity to be honest with others, but most importantly with yourself. And to see someone like you admit to failures most certainly helps others like myself, who have faced big failures & have begun to feel like worthless people as a result. For I consider you to be a very successful person--in all the ways that truly matter--and so it makes me think that perhaps I too can be okay in life despite my material failures & some day have the same happiness & positive perspective that you have. Thank you for making me believe that is possible as it really has been dark times for me lately. The hope you have provided really helps, so thank you with all my heart.

I am also in a lot of pain which is hard to deal with. I hope you are living pain free.

Great channel, thank you for the story, which is important to hear for many people. That last Restaurant story is tough. As a marketing guy, two cents; Bad name for a BBQ, sign and front facia looks like a lower level Restaurant but you had a beautifully decorated high class bar Restaurant inside. Newer nicer Restaurants are judged so much from the outside to gain the excitement of the first time customer and I think although the big sign helps you be scene, it also looks like a lower end franchise. Patrick I hope I'm not hurting your feelings, just giving some honest feedback as your liable to get an offer you can't refuse to participate in another Restaurant some day. God bless you and good luck with your heart + family.

I enjoy the pursuit of making a difference in life; for myself, my partner, my family and others. I learned this in my 50’s. I always wondered before my 50’s why I didn’t appreciate having wealth, even when I lost it twice, once in my 30’s and once in my 40’s. I agree that one day this bone suit will stop working so until then, make a difference and keep on keeping on ❤

True, we "all take a dirt nap" one day. And we don't take out stuff with us. It's our souls that go. And then we stand before God and let's hope we hear "Well done, my good and trusted friend" and not "depart from me, I never knew you." All of your experiences are of a life lived fully and lived well. Lives now full of wisdom. Don't stop here though. Make that connection with God, he is familiar with sorrows and pain. Get to know him. And then some day, you will kiss this life goodbye and enter into another one, where there are no tears. God Bless you.

Well, after living on Holiday Isle for so long, I can tell you that it's so seasonal there it's almost impossible to make it there. Snow Birds will kill your business fast. Even locals tend to hibernate in the off season as they don't have the excess of cash to go out. The Universe spoke to you that day through that woman for sure. What a testament to a higher power! If I was in the same situation I would bet on my children and help them-- whatever they wanted to do, and then try to take a senior position like giving advice and teach both successes and failures. If she just came up with that all on her own, that is a story that deserves more attention. I'm surprised just based on the few things you said about her, that she could spell so well, and the handwriting itself wasn't great but respectable. It's almost like she didn't write it herself. I mean, how many homeless people pushing around a stroller with a fake baby in it can even spell "bankruptcy".

Invest $1m in dividend producing etfs. Mostly in T bill etfs like SGOV…for extreme safety. $200000 of it in monthly payers like MSTY or CONY….or weekly payers like YMAX or RDTE. Could get to an average of 10% return or $100000 a year income. No work to it except monitoring it, reinvesting decisions. No long hours over a hot stove, no customer hassles, no employees, no supply problems etc.

Interesting lives you both have and continue to live. That's the prize. So you aimed for the stars and landed in Destin. Huh, not bad.

A Govt wanted to rid the people of rats. They offered 1 dollar for every rat tail. People began breeding rats...
Another major factor of many restaurants failing is the inorganic economy. When Govt puts their hands on the economy, many businesses that would have succeeded, fail.

To all you "naysayers" - "if 9 out of 10 restaurants fail" - heck Thomas Edison would have never invented the light-bulb. C'mon folks!! Each time you get back up and try again, you know this time how not to do it... Practise makes perfect!! Good for youguysfor never giving up. Xx

You should do consulting for aspiring restaurateurs so they don’t step in potholes

The way I see it. That last restaurant failed for a reason. God wants you somewhere else doing something else. In fact it may be what you’re doing now on UA-cam. Stay in prayer and let God take the lead. In Jesus name Amen ❤🙏🏻
