Decemberunderground has always been my favorite winter album, and will probably always be my favorite winter album hands down. Listening the the opening strings of The Interview always sends chills down my spine, and the album always takes me to a magical winter wonderland.
I love hearing back story of making an album with the band members. I first heart "Prelude 12/21" at the end of a Season 6 Smallville episode. I convinced me to check out AFI's music. "Love Like Winter" was the song that officially introduced me to AFI's. It would have been a shame if Miss Murder never made it onto Decemberunderground track list. It isn't my favorite song off Decemberunderground...but it still what put AFI on the music scene map.
I knew them thanks to Miss Murder, but when one of my sisters got Decemberunderground I feel in love with "Love like Winter", I was going throo my first depression peack, and that song just got me out of darkness, I've always felt something very special with AFI, they are unique, and you can feel and see the hard work, love and passion they give to their music and lyrics, also how compromised they are all.
I’ve been into AFI since high school and I saw them for the first time 20 years ago to put it into perspective. That being said this album came out the day after I left home for the first time and was such a huge part of my summer. There’s still a specific drive I have to listen to this album while taking just to remember that moment.
Always thought it was odd that Rabbits are Roadkill on Rt 37 didn't make it onto this album or Sing the Sorrow. I found that song through myspace at the time. One of my favorite AFI songs!
i had no idea they were still making music and i am living!! ugh im so happy they are still together they were my favorite band when i was in junior high and they have aged both as people and musically so well.
I remember looking forward to this album prior to it's release. I bought it, I sat in my room, and I listened to it from start to finish, and I remember feeling a little bit... disappointed. I didn't hate it... but it wasn't what I was expecting. It was the last AFI album I bought, and I haven't listened to anything they made after. To me, Sing The Sorrow is and will always be the band's Magnum Opus.
Kill caustic and endlessly, she said were the two best songs on the album This album was the first album I could play on guitar from start to finish when I was 14
What the hell man, Miss Murder is seriously a great fucking song. I love this band's entire dicography front and back so I'm not speaking for notalgia's sake. But I'm always going to be confounded as to why they all think Miss Murder is their worst song. I also get annoyed at how they half-ass it during live shows.
That entire album is great but Rabbits are roadkill on route 37 is the best, hands down. Although, it is hard to pick the best song on that album. I feel that way with Sing the Sorrow too.
Phew. Years later, I feel relieved to hear they never really liked Miss Murder. Even that Davey tried getting that song off the record. I remember when that came out, and my face scrunched up listening to it, and all I could think at the time was "ugh".
What’s up with all the hate on miss murder tho.. I loved it so much! That’s what got me into AFI in the first place. They made so many amazing songs and to me, miss murder is definitely one of them
Agreed👍 also "Affliction"... I think the bridge to that song from 2:00 to 3:00 (exactly one minute long) is some of the best stuff AFI has ever done, that section is my favorite part of this album and it's delivery by the band and Davey's singing is just epic to me during the bridge. Anyways back on topic, i dig Miss Murder too! And also "The View From Here" (b-side) that Davey mentions is also pretty damn good, it should of definitely been on the album no doubt! Decemberunderground is one of my favs, easily in my top 3 AFI albums
Davey is So right about the Miss Murder song... It's not the best song on the record... The View from Here is a really amazing song once you let it grow on you... But then again I'm glad you kinda had to search hard to find the song back then still is an amazing song to listen to
I’m just gonna look as “a view from here” as a hidden track from Decemberunderground... a very hidden track lol. Miss Murder is still my fav song ON the record, it was a good move to keep it, I’m sorry that Davey had to sacrifice his artistry for it, but it IS a great song.. so thanks for the sacrifice bro!
Just because their genre change doesn’t mean they’re not good you’re just overly critical and hold tight to one genre And can’t stand when a band grows up
@@tylermcdonald9372 Haha you speak as though you know me. This was my favorite band for years ,and i was with them from the start. I think this album marked their third style change ,if not fourth. I support the bands I love until they start making shitty radio pop sounding music, which they did. This album had a lot of new wave that i suffered through. Inevitably they went pop, and he just can't hit those highs anymore becuse his vocals cords are shot. Judge away I guess dipshit. Im just being honest.
Honestly, while I like Ms Murder... that was actually the worst song on the album. Which probably says a lot about the quality of content for the other songs. Besides, The View From Here was actually a really cool song, as well.
I’ve tried so many times to give this album a listen through, but it’s hard. Produced really well, clean, but had too much of a The Cure feel which was nothing like what their previous albums. And was that a Sammy the Mick(RIP) nod?!
By watching this I feel like I am Davey, Jade is my friend Robert, and Hunter is my boyfriend xD , and Adam is my friend Peter. Jajajajajaja, they are absolutely adorable.
i dont know why they had to fight between Miss Murder adb The view from here? just add The view from here. The Killing lights was such a filler, shitty song, replace that one lol
It's great Miss Murder was the reason they reached success, but it was by far the worst on the album. It doesn't flow with the rest of the album at all, which is an otherwise great underrated AFI album. I cut it out completely when I listen to the album in it's entirety.
Not my favorite album or single but still a good. I felt Miss Murder was missing something to it. I found it very ambiguous in meaning. Makes perfect sense why it did. The music save it from being a terrible song.
Lol talking shit about prairie sun. Some amazing records were made there my guys. also wtf is wrong with chickens y’all should remember your roots y’all came from ukiah. Quit talking shit Come play the Phoenix again. Also waste em all was recorded down the street from the gas station ur talking about come on
Hunter is the rebel of the band. Won't speak, won't cross his legs... won't even let his socks show.
"Spiders..."
😂🤣😂🤣
He got the laugh in at the end, the low end…
I
What do I win? 😂😂😂😂😂
Hunter is the bassist. He doesn't need to be heard, he needs to be felt lol.
Only thing Hunter says; "and spiders" same, buddy, same.
when afi cover Ziggy stardust Davey looks right at Hunter after "So where were the spiders?"
"spiders"
-Hunter Bergan
Only word i've heard him say in all these album interviews
Same Hunter, same...
Decemberunderground has always been my favorite winter album, and will probably always be my favorite winter album hands down. Listening the the opening strings of The Interview always sends chills down my spine, and the album always takes me to a magical winter wonderland.
every. single. winter.
Who has a favourite winter album?! 😂
people who love music@@BurntDisc
Such an odd statement. That's almost like calling this a Christmas album. 🎄🤦
I play this album year round.
And let me guess.. You only play All Hallows EP only around Halloween? 🙄
Damn it's already been almost 11 years? Or is it 11 years, holy shit I remember seeing Love Like Winter on MTV
i could listen to them talking about their albums for hours
It's always awesome to hear them talking about their experiences, and outlooks of their work and everything. I will always love AFI
These interviews are the best thing ever!!!
Decemberunderground will always remind me of being a teenage.
One of my all time favourite albums. THANK YOU AFI
37mm hits me hard ever single tiiiime thooo
It's easily their best song. When DA came out I listened to 37mm so much.
I can't believe this is at back of track listing. It is sooo good.
I’ve been into AFI since high school and I saw them for the first time 20 years ago to put it into perspective.
That being said this album came out the day after I left home for the first time and was such a huge part of my summer.
There’s still a specific drive I have to listen to this album while taking just to remember that moment.
Miss murder was kind of hard to accept as an AFI fan from BEFORE this album, but I'm glad they made it! Gave them a lot of success!
Yeah but aside from MM and love like winter, December underground is an amazing record
Now I feel as if the rabbits on the album art should have been chickens instead.
Always thought it was odd that Rabbits are Roadkill on Rt 37 didn't make it onto this album or Sing the Sorrow. I found that song through myspace at the time. One of my favorite AFI songs!
Dude right????
i had no idea they were still making music and i am living!! ugh im so happy they are still together they were my favorite band when i was in junior high and they have aged both as people and musically so well.
i was obsessed with AFI in middle school! im 26 now how am i just seeing this😭😭😭
"It would have been like stars and darkness or something" i'm crying
davey, 'miss murder' is the reason i discovered thsi band! 11 years later, im still jammin ye guys, because i heard miss murder!
Junkyard Fox same here !
same
Same again.
Junkyard Fox you have a great channel!
you must be younger than me. bah
I remember looking forward to this album prior to it's release. I bought it, I sat in my room, and I listened to it from start to finish, and I remember feeling a little bit... disappointed. Summer shudder best song
That and the interview
hell yea
I think Summer shudder is better than the view from here in my opinion
I love The Interview, there is just something about it that gets me every time.
I want all the throw aways, I bet they are great. These guys are too humble.
Cotati is my backyard haha didnt realize Decemberunderground was partially written there. Chickens still walking around there for now too
There was no feeling like being 10 years old walking into the record store and grabbing this album 💿
one of the greatest LP's of all time.
Davey getting ptsd flashbacks to the chickens will never not make me laugh.
Love this whole record.
God, I'm so relieved to hear that even they think Miss Murder sucks. Lol
Kiss and Control 100!
Decemberunderground is what introduced me to AFI in high school. Miss Murder & Love Like Winter were my favs, Prelude 12/21 was memed a lot,
37mm is still my favorite song on the album lol.
AFI's new album, Chicken in a Gas Station is scheduled for 2022
holy f i love this band
Man... I would LOVE to hear the songs from that first batch they had for the album.
Best album. Top 10 album for me.
I'd be interested in hearing that first batch of songs. They probably have some demos of them.
Kill caustic and endlessly, she said were the two best songs on the album
This album was the first album I could play on guitar from start to finish when I was 14
What the hell man, Miss Murder is seriously a great fucking song. I love this band's entire dicography front and back so I'm not speaking for notalgia's sake. The interview 🥹
Hearts stars and rainbows clovers and blue moons!
haha davey is so charming in a different way these days
His laugh makes me laugh too
Davey's right - The View From Here IS a better song than Miss Murder. Hands down.
where is this song found? its not on the album is it?
I agree.
One of my favorite albums.
stars hearts and murder - the next AFI album
Davey has changed so much since Sing the sorrow era. Looks good tho.
That entire album is great but Rabbits are roadkill on route 37 is the best, hands down. Although, it is hard to pick the best song on that album. I feel that way with Sing the Sorrow too.
I still appreciate this masterpiece!. ❤
Ugh I love the haircut of Davie. Looks so good on him than his long hair before.
This is a way better look on Davey
Phew. Years later, I feel relieved to hear they never really liked Miss Murder. Even that Davey tried getting that song off the record. I remember when that came out, and my face scrunched up listening to it, and all I could think at the time was "ugh".
Na. Song is fire and the reason they're still around 🤣
Hey!! We made our best record at that “shabby farm in Cotati!” Even with the chickens 😂
I wanna hear from Hunter and Adam too shit .
@Blood Eagle Here ya go ua-cam.com/video/UJKrhE2fjs0/v-deo.html
I love Davey, but this Davey, I'd have a beer with. The Davey from Love Like Winter I'd....
SXE
Agreed
You’d what??? Lol 😳
I thought I was going to marry Davey 😂😂
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
“Hey (hey), stars and hearts, can I
Hey (hey), stars and hearts, can I
Make (hey) beauty stay if I
Take my life? Oh oh “
Ding da ding, Ding da ding.
I was in 8th grade when this album came out. I was obsessed!!! I'm now 25..... Lol *edit* this came out when I was in 7th grade. Feel old?
Jesus, what happened to Jade? He looked like he was strung out for too long or something.
What’s up with all the hate on miss murder tho.. I loved it so much! That’s what got me into AFI in the first place. They made so many amazing songs and to me, miss murder is definitely one of them

Decemberunderground is one of my favs, easily in my top 3 AFI albums
I find davey's chicken comment really fucking hilarious, dude you're vegan, hangout with local wildlife
Im convinced Mick Mars knows Jades Mom......
Davey is So right about the Miss Murder song... It's not the best song on the record... The View from Here is a really amazing song once you let it grow on you... But then again I'm glad you kinda had to search hard to find the song back then still is an amazing song to listen to

Miss Murder is still my fav song ON the record, it was a good move to keep it, I’m sorry that Davey had to sacrifice his artistry for it, but it IS a great song.. so thanks for the sacrifice bro!
Were they in Yuba City?! Lol were in Nor Cal and have chickens everywhere! So much so that they rival humans in population! 🤣
Hunter is from the grass valley area which is like 30 minutes away from us here in yuba city
Why does Jade look so oily and shiny?
Clanton Blaylock I honestly thought he had gotten plastic surgery lol
Decemberunderground is a classic.
Davey: I still don't think it (miss murder) is the best song on the album
Fans: BLASPHEMY!
Is not. The missing frame 37mm kiss control are the best
It's not. For me, it's the weakest song they've ever done. The Interview, The Missing Frame, Kiss and Control, and Endless She Said are the best.
Miss Murder is literally the worst song on the album. It totally ruins the flow of the record.
ah.. this was the album where HUnter Losses his hair and Davey hair was a huge over exaggerated version of the onesided emo hair :P
Давайте не будем никого обижать
And the dedicated a song on it to Justin Tiberlake!
Hunter and Adam never talk 😂 Davey has tamed down on the gabbing though. Not that anyone cares.
Все змінюється,і це добре,але ж рок це завжди протест!
This album was the end of good AFI
Yeah but they still kick as live though
Agree
Just because their genre change doesn’t mean they’re not good you’re just overly critical and hold tight to one genre And can’t stand when a band grows up

Jedidiah Bowman you’re the first person I’ve ever heard to say AFI went pop
when it comes to the "new" AFI, I LOVED DU better than STS. DU=one of the top albums of 2006.
I liked STS better but that’s just my opinion
Let us pay a little respect, to them and other bands, stop trolling
All changes, its good, but rock was always rebellious music
Они много раз говорили и про то,почему они такие( стиль),и про песни,имейте немного уважения к артистам,они неалохие,просто повзрослелеи
Should have kept those not so great songs. I'd like to hear them.
Honestly, while I like Ms Murder... that was actually the worst song on the album. Which probably says a lot about the quality of content for the other songs. Besides, The View From Here was actually a really cool song, as well.
I agree with Davey, it's NOT the best song off the record. TBH it was a mistake imo to make it the single
I’ve tried so many times to give this album a listen through, but it’s hard. Produced really well, clean, but had too much of a The Cure feel which was nothing like what their previous albums. And was that a Sammy the Mick(RIP) nod?!
I would say December Underground is their best album to date. Very solid album indeed
Kiss and control was the best track. Miss murder wasnt that good
Хватит троллить,
Get a haircut, you hippie. Lol
By far decemberunderground is their best album.
just goes to show that Davey has no idea what a "hit" is. Miss Murder about got axed from the record. thus "crash love"
The Killing lights was such a filler, shitty song, replace that one lol
killing lights is my favorite song on that album, lol. Opinions!
yeah im a big fan of killing lights as well, really great chorus!
The last good AFI album.
Thats wildly untrue
I don't know why do people like miss murder is a bad song.
Not bad, but just an average song.
that's only good song on that POS
Theyre not god antagonists or monsters, let's forrgive em, name some other band with good texts, music, moreplease
It's great Miss Murder was the reason they reached success, but it was by far the worst on the album. It doesn't flow with the rest of the album at all, which is an otherwise great underrated AFI album. I cut it out completely when I listen to the album in it's entirety.
Eh, the hook is good enough for me to listen to it every now and again.
Same
Decemberunderground was the last good afi album, the band pretty much died after 06/07
Let me guess you guys hate Green Day because you think they sold out too
He would sell out like fuck if you were in daveys position
Not my favorite album or single but still a good. I felt Miss Murder was missing something to it. I found it very ambiguous in meaning. Makes perfect sense why it did. The music save it from being a terrible song.
Ernie Llerena Sing the Sorrow was a much better album
Hunter talks way too much. He really needs to shut up and let his other band mates speak.
