I worked at a venue in in 2001-2003 and met Davey Havok, Actually Played a few games of Tekken with him, and hung out for a few mins,.One of the nicest and most down to earth "rock stars", I have ever met.
I know right!! I really enjoy when Nardwuar interviews AFI; it seems to be a very pleasurable experience for everyone involved, viewers included. Though I find it odd that it's always Davey and Jade, never Hunter or Adam.
They seem much more... Happy with Nardwuar in this interview than the last one. The one back from the STS tour, they seemed soooo pissed off at him. xD
AFI is a really cool band. As much as I don't like their recent work, they have an extensive history and have made some really good music in their time as a band.
Ha ha deadly interview, I love these guys, and no offense, but you guys gotta get over this whole "Davey is gay" thing. Even if he IS gay (which is entirely possible) he it still awesome.
@QmegaNC Was that last bit referring to this interview or Nardwuar interviews in general? Because Nardwuar generally has way more music knowledge than the bands he interviews, but in this one, AFI is going toe-to-toe with him on all of these subjects and even besting him on a few. Which I'm sure he enjoyed cause he likes giving good interviews and learning new things.
@sonik-boom, please elaborate how loving a band's new material AND their old material, and being part of a younger crowd (when that cannot be helped) means you "must be a poser" ?
Sounds like sonik boom's suffering from poser-pose. Thats where he's actually the poser, and to try and seem like he fits in, he calls someone out who's not being a poser. If you like what u like, then no one can judge you. Just let the idiots make themselves look stupid.
omfg all of narduars interviews are always so standovish and its funny to watch. if you watch his inteview with Panic! at the Disco its sooooooo funny.theyre all like wtf?! xD
Nardwuar knew, before the interview, that they were recently talking about Gilman Street and the banana girl. I mean, out of all the stories from Gilman to bring up, he mentions the one they were talking about a few days prior. Nardwuar always does his research. :)
hahaha. thats awesome. AFI must like Nardwuar, since they keep doing interviews with him =P and holy f### Davey and Jade know alot about other bands =P
holy s*** narwaur really researches his stuff. i was following almost everything untill they started talking about "the steps"... "sweet baby > sweet children > dead baby" lmao.
@@bigpurpleflower2185 the fanbase killed rock then. The stupid fanbase following everything that MTV told them to follow in which they did. I feel like I witnessed it with my own eyes. In 1997 the kids who wore nirvana shirts, by 98 were now sporting silver chains and trying to imitate black culture because all of a sudden it was cool thanks to MTV. I think MTV has alot to do with the death of rock n roll. Emo was such a stupid label to what we used to call indie rock in the 90's. Bands like Sunny Day Real Estate was the pioneers of that sound and then came the posers in the 2000's with that same sound and calling it emo as a way to emasculate the genre for a bunch of young pussies to call that music their own while they cut themselves and go out shopping at the mall like mallrats looking for the tightest small black shirts to wear at Hot Topic. Rock died when the pussy boys took over.
@@charlestonrezz5188 Nah, it's people like you. If you can't see the real issue here, you never will, and I pity you. I pity you, blind man. I pity you.
You can really tell that they were signed by a label alongside Green Day, because they sound a lot like them judging by those clips. I didn't listen to anything beyond Sing the Sorrow. Which I just listened to again and loved just like I did 12 years ago...
The funniest part is when Davey starts talking about the Headmaster of the frat being gay...That was too funny, although niether Jade, nor Narduwar thot it to be as funny as Davey did...I kno he's not gay, but he seemed to be the only one interested in that fact. + i wanna kno, how did he kno this? Did he "walk in" one time, cuz if he did, Davey I'm sorry.
Jerry Knuckles naw man I think that in the end they’re still a good band even to this day,and I think they knew people were gonna say that about the shades that’s probably why he wore them
well if you look at some of the other comments apparently i am speacking for alot of other people to and emo aint real music its a way for people to feel sorry for themselves and afi WAS good at music now they changed for publicity if they kept there old sound and got big id give them props but dont change who you are for sales because then your just a sell out and dont trully feel what you play and that makes you a fake
@imseriouslyserious88 I always complain about getting screwed in music growing up, ya'll got extra screwed. Just tell all the naysayers to listen to cruise control and imagine every girl that turns them down for being an ass.

Rev_Rob tekken?? siiick
What was his main
Studio Seven?
They're digging this interview. Nardwuar asks relevant questions and digs deep into band histories.
"She started talking to me. And then later, she had a banana inside her."
Classic.
Davey is a down to earth guy. Nardwuar has deep knowledge.
I love Davey and his music, but he's about as far from 'down to earth' as it gets lol
Love Afi
lol "i had a thing for blue hair" and "I thought she died!"
i love davey lol
Very Proud of Ya is still one of the best punk albums ever.
I feel like this interview has the most balanced and smooth amount of bandmate mic inclusion/transition of any Nard interview.
Do not ever compare the legendary Nardwuar to that goof Bryan Stars.
Yes XD
This band really got me into writing poetry in middle school
Nardwuar always has the most interesting interviews because he digs for info and doesnt ask the same generic questions
( 7:33 ) Davey Havok: the only person who gets as excited as I do about gay sex.
7:33
They're always so kind to their interviewers because they know the fans are watching. Very considerate.
I saw them when they toured with Green Day in August of 2010
They';re amazing live GREAT performers
They even sang their first songs
"Zac is no longer straight-edge". PAUSE!
Haha, you can so tell that he wanted to say something else but decided against it.
I love the fact that they talk about old school stuff like the Gilman. I go to the Gilman about once a month to see a show. That place is amazing.
I know right!! I really enjoy when Nardwuar interviews AFI; it seems to be a very pleasurable experience for everyone involved, viewers included. Though I find it odd that it's always Davey and Jade, never Hunter or Adam.
Best interview ever.
i love how they talk about green day, afi and green day is my fave bands!!!
This was like the most informative Nardwuar interview ever.

I like how you played their only two greatest hits.
there needs to be a "Nardwuar vs The Used" i bet Bert would get so annoyed by this guy lol
absolutely
This video reminded me of the Nerve Agents I used to love that band!
wow...these guys are really down to earth.
They seem much more... Happy with Nardwuar in this interview than the last one. The one back from the STS tour, they seemed soooo pissed off at him. xD
If ur asking where the interview was it was most likely in Vancouver (the city), British Columbia, Canada. Or somewhere near there.
AFI is a really cool band. As much as I don't like their recent work, they have an extensive history and have made some really good music in their time as a band.
I love Davey and Jade sooo much^_^I think the interview is very funny^_^LOL^_^!!!Love Jennifer

LOL! The very end made me laugh.
Nardwar Vs. Blaqk Audio!!
listen to Son Of Sam if you can't get enough Davey Havok
Nardwuar is amazing.
lol...its awesome... too many connections...my head is spinning!!!
Nardwuar knew, before the interview, that they were recently talking about Gilman Street and the banana girl. I mean, out of all the stories from Gilman to bring up, he mentions the one they were talking about a few days prior.
Nardwuar always does his research. :)
It would've been so great if Jade said "Darby's balls."
damn Davey knows A LOT!!! he should teach me...
kick ass!
''zack is no longer.... straight edge.'' SMOKIN WEED in rage baby.
agree, I am 12 and start to like afi when I was 9
Nardwuar vs. AFI (2017) pls
not a huge fan of AFI but that is a fucking cool interview.
emo means emotional pop-punk/hardcore. there are other influences like hair metal and stuff too.
hahaha. thats awesome.
AFI must like Nardwuar, since they keep doing interviews with him =P
and holy f### Davey and Jade know alot about other bands =P
At what point did afi go from punk to emo? I remember liking a.song ....somtbing pheonix? Then after that hating everything elsd they did
Savio Steps!
I thought they would end up at the fence the amount of steps back they take
He was v aggressive with that mic 😂
I tripple dare u to interview DMX
holy s*** narwaur really researches his stuff.
i was following almost everything untill they started talking about "the steps"...
"sweet baby > sweet children > dead baby" lmao.

"What's Gramma's real name.. Marc!"
Wooow :D

Davey Havok is such an awesome guy.
R.I.P emo
Fuck emo. Emo killed rock.

hmm mmm...off topic, but there's a gay fraternity in berkeley now. so cool.
