I cannot believe I’ve been using FCPX for just over a year now and I NEVER knew about tips #1, 2 and 3! You’re a certified jet, have the most articulate and helpful guides - thank you Justin! Much love from Australia
Been using FCPX for just about 2yrs with learning as we go, watching an occasional tutorial here and there. With that, learning "the hard way" has kept our process pretty long, but shortcuts are a lifesaver as our "Webisode" series at this point took up to 30hrs to edit from start to finish. These tips will help immensely. Thanks as always for the help!
Thank you so much, Justin. The cutting tip with Alt+] will help a ton as well as the volume tip. I do those adjustments the longer way all the time. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, you're great teacher, both patient and detailed. Also, congratulations on 50k subs. I think in a couple of years, you'll be at 500k and I'm not joking.
This video was extremely helpful and I greatly appreciate it. This is the first video I've seen of yours but your very well spoken and do an excellent job at explaining things and I'm grateful I found it. So I'm now subscribed and look forward to watching your previous videos. Take care
Quick tip to add to the last one about uploading to UA-cam - if you have Apple Compressor (50$) you can make a custom, high-bit-rate h.264 preset in compressor AND import the preset into Final Cut Pro X. Any compressor settings can become a "destination" within the FCPX export window. You don't even have to "send to compressor", FCPX just uses the compressor settings (I assume the two programs use the same encoding module).
Another great video! Your videos are one of the best on UA-cam! Could just hear music playing the background while you were talking which was a slight distraction. Keep up the great work!
Man, I feel like a NOOB! 1,2 and 4 are brand new to me, 3 was AMAZING...but 5 has been my go- to workflow since the beginning. You must be careful, though...as we've seen FCPX updates mess with output/share settings if you don't double-check some times when you click-through to share and choose destination. Great stuff again buddy!
Great tips.I don't quick get the color correction-tip 4. if I watch correctly Command 6 make color correction to selected clip, move to next clip hit command 6 and it will add correction I made to last clip. BOB
I like your videos Justin, thanks for making them. I would recommend you use background music without vocals as it's very distracting to me and I can't focus on your voice... may just be me but I can't usually get through your videos with background vocals and exit after a few minutes or just skip a lot, I'd like to watch the whole thing though ideally!
Hey I kind of confused between videohive and red giant universe. Could you please suggest which one provides better transition and motion graphics effects. I use Adobe premiere Pro.
great effort. is there any way to save a vlog template so for every vlog I just need to add the new videos and then change titles. most effects remains same.
Hi Justin: Thank you for your video and awesome tips. When I use the Option [ to trim top, it does not move the following clip to close the gap. What setting am I missing for it to do that? Thank you in advance.
Great tips! I use Adobe Premier so is there a way to create motion titles or tip numbers that slide across the bottom of the screen without use Adobe After Effects?
Hey Vinny, If you have the latest Premiere you can now edit text on an After Effects project from within Premiere - no need for After Effects. Currently it's still really limited - no font or size changes but it may do what you're after.
@@PrimalVideo Thanks Justin. Great to see you live with @videocreators. You are a legend. If I ever see you at a conference, coffee and a bagel is on me!
Oh wow. Thank you so much. I'm just starting my own channel and bless this video because man, Im taking 10years to finish a 4min video loool. Thank you thank you! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You know what be a useful video is how to edit in a jump cut style in FCP. I'm guessing your approach to teaching it would be superb. You're cuts are very smooth and yet interesting. I essentially just keep doing takes until I get a keeper that is good all the way through because my cuts look so awful and I know it's not hard but most videos I've seen don't slow down at the crucial moments and it's all in the details for that. Just a suggestion. I'm sure you have too many suggestions to keep up with but I figured I'd add my two cents.
I pretty much just take the same approach - keep going until i get the take I like.. but one trick to make them a bit more smooth on playback is to try and keep they eye position between the wide and tight shot the same or very similar. When watching videos our brains are really taking notice of eye position. Keeping them close makes the videos easier to watch :)
Hi Justin - thanks for the tips. I'm just moving up to Final Cut Pro from Screenflow and am excited to get making videos. I'm especially excited for the magnetic timeline and the "trim tail" features. Thanks for your great content. All the best, Cheers Rick PS - congratulations on passing 83K - soon to 100K and then 1M!! 80)
Do you mind me asking about colour grading and manual recording, if you record on a camera where you can alter the brightness of the playback screen and then when you edit on FCPx the brightness of your MAC's screen can also be different, how would you balance all these settings so the finished product is colour and brightness graded. Is there a formula for this please thanks
These days you can pick up computer monitors with a high color replication rating quite cheaply to make sure everything is correct.. but what I'd recommend you do is test your videos on a few devices, laptop, desktop, ipad, phone.. whatever you have as that is what most people will be viewing on. If you're happy with how it looks on a couple of devices then run with that.

No hate, just helping out people who are watching this to optimize their time.
Good lookin out. I hate that UA-cam creators use this technique to meet their minutes viewed.
