NFTs are coming to gaming whether you like them or not. Gamers are naturally skeptical and really dislike cryptocurrency & NFT technology in their games. The space filled full of scammers, spammers, and trolls. In today's video I want to briefly explain what a NFT is, talk about their potential upsides, how they intersect with gaming, show off some top NFT games, and a fun interview with the inventor of dogecoin. Part 2 is going to be all the bad stuff and will be coming soon!

I haven't yet seen a game that allows you to make money playing it that isn't exploiting it's playerbase. Thst little fact alone makes me very suspicious of NFTs in gaming.

First. I am biased. So, you do you. But after I learned about the Bored Ape mint and passed (they were $190 of ETH, I laughed and thought I’d rather keep the ETH) I left the Discord of the guild I belong to because it sucked. Seeing people sell an ape for 60k was bad enough until they went to insane levels.
I know how profile pic NFTs work. It’s like Pokémon. 10,000 Pokémon, algorithm assigns each a trait amongst hundreds of traits. Everyone pays the same to mint. If you are lucky you mint a rare one.
      This is the game.
This is the point, why people get obsessed.
So I used the rewards from my exchange debit card and minted a project. It was a BAYC knock off. I got lucky and mine was rarity 256.
      I sold it.
At the time the exchange token was trading at .59.
I sold it for 25,000 of this token.
      I cashed out half.
You get $7000 what do you do? Bank? It loses value due to inflation.
I exchanged for a stable coin called usdc. I then stake this in 3 month chunks on an exchange for 10% yield.
The other half I left as the exchange token. Why? Because it’s a bet that it will increase in value.
This is fine if it goes to 0.
      The exchange token was free.
One day there won’t be a game that is boring or exploitive. Chaingaming is no different then traditional gaming.
I find Candy Crush boring. Many mobile games seem pay to win.
This space will be no different.
But a game like Eve Online can simulate the thrill real life gives you. People pay for this game. But they build vibrant corps and create an economy.
I give my main chaingame 17% chance of developing. A 4 year time frame.
I bought Solana in Feb of 2021. Not crazy money. Think RTX 3080 ti money.
When Solana went crazy I cashed out all profits and just left initial investment.
I gambled on this game. I don’t care if it is just 17% chance.
I can stake my spaceships and earn back my investment in a year. I’ll keep staking even if it takes years or evaporates.
The reason I do this is the insanity of a game that looks like Star Citizen or Elite Dangerous with the intrigue of Eve would be massive. It is not just about making money.
I want to live in that future.
Look at what Axie Infinity did for people in the Philippines. Gamers hate this space so much and never bother to learn.
You tell me it’s bad that someone can earn more playing a mobile Pokémon crypto game then working in a field all day. I think that’s awesome.
So I want to be able to allow a person in a developing country to pilot a cool spaceship in an Unreal Engine 5 game in a few years…fly around and be part of a galactic war or act as a spy.
:::::blockchain is not just dog coins. Think of it as a possible next gen internet. ETH really is the Ethereum Virtual Machine. If you have not heard of that just google.
Few people in a developing country can own a descent gpu. Blockchain has Render….a way for gamers to earn on their idle GPUs and to allow a global chaingame to be played by many more people then could even play Star Citizen right now if it was a free to play game.
I think that’s cool. So I invest in Render.
Nobody made it down here. Fine. For someone possibly reading this in 2023 or 2024?
      Render was less then $2.00
      Polis was less then $2.00
Solana was back to about $100. Decimated was $.50
      And gala wasn’t even .60
This is like looking back and finding those who complained pre mint (like me) that $190 plus gas fees was too much to mint a Bored Ape.
      Or it all is 0.
      I was you.
My Reddit account is 13 years old. I learned about Bitcoin and laughed at people mining it on their laptops or saying (I’ll just spend $100 and get like 120 Bitcoin…who knows what will happen).
I still was that guy. I still didn’t say…I’ll mint one of these apes, spend $190 and see what happens.

I work in power distribution. Had someone from customer service contact me saying a crypto facility wanted to move into part of a warehouse (one that had other businesses in it). They said they’d use 1.5-2.5 MW. For reference, many circuits I work with are 13.2 kV and can have a capacity limit of anywhere from ~10-14 MVA. In this case the circuit has 13.24 MVA capacity.
Because of good efficiency, you can pretty much say 1 MW = 1 MVA. So a smaller crypto facility wanted to use 11-18% of the circuit’s capacity (likely 18%, I doubt they’d be on the low end).

An nft does not mean you own that piece of art. You own the receipt that records a transaction where you paid the creator for a digital copy of that art. You have the same rights to that art as what you’d get if you bought a postcard of the Mona Lisa. The only thing that is unique is the token that refers to that art. Have you ever considered the NFTs from ChainGuardians? It's a play-to-earn game I have tried out. What I think makes this game unique for long-term holders waiting for the bear market to end, is that they can be used as playable characters in an RPG that is getting big updates to the gameplay in the future. Being able to stake these NFTs for CGG (ChainGuardians governance token) and other perks involving their sister projects being added bonuses to holding these NFTs.

I just don’t really understand NFTs in general. I used to collect basketball and baseball cards for example. They have a perceived value that can be traded and/or bought, but it’s a physical and tangible thing that you really do own and is truly unique because another person can’t own it because they physically don’t have it. If NFTs, especially graphic NFTs, could just be copied for nothing, how could it really be owned if it’s not unique? It’s just a fundamental question that hopefully will be addressed in your next video.

It's literally just a unique token that points to an image, a token that only you can transfer ownership of the token to somebody else, which is what makes you "own" the token. The only reason some people consider it valuable is because it's associated to the image. But anyone else can make a different unique token to points to the same image from what I understand. So NFTs aren't nothing but they're silly in my opinion.

If I go to the Louvre Museum and take a picture of the mona lisa and print that picture (It looks identical) then frame it and hang it on the wall. That identical replica is NOT the original, therefore even though it's a perfect replica that doesn't mean it's worth the same amount of money. It's the same concept. An original image is NOT the same as a copy. The blockchain defines who the current owner. It's the same as who own's a piece of art at a given time.

I'm kinda suspicious that hanging around people like TMartin may be having a detrimental effect. There is an element of level of selling here (obviously because someone is already in the etherum pyramid) that makes me want to vomit. This could be the thing that puts me off this channel completely. Sad times

    Definitely a cool concept.
Hopefully they don’t cost an arm and a leg though.

I'm not the most knowledgeable in this stuff but it seems like it's the Blockchain which is a good resource rather than NFTs themselves

Drift waiting till the ass end of the interview to say he has invested in Ethereum and therefore had a stake in NFTs taking off is something I believe the principled drift0r of yesteryear would have crucified someone over doing. Not making your conflict of interest readily known from the get go is shameful and I had thought you were a more ethical man than this drift0r.

You have really put me on a pedestal. I invested my money into a lot of different things. Some of it is in crypto but not NFTs.

@@Drift0r That was not really his point though. The fact that you invited in the Creator of the worst shitcoin in existence that's genuinely going nowhere, probably pissed people off more than say, their views on NFTs. It's a strange video specifically because, I can hardly believe someone with half a braincell, let alone someone as smart as you could ever think NFTs are anything more than a scam that's a dead end. I say this as someone with thousands into crypto at this point, and with plans to get thousands more into it...Crypto is the future. NFTs are not.

I imagine your video will trigger a ton of people who won't watch, think, or understand--they're just mad because they think crypto = bitcoin and "people are mining all muh bitcoins on my gamin' cards!" That's where most of the butthurt comes from, really.
