Black Ops Cold War gameplay and a critical review of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. Black Ops Cold War is not a game without flaws. There are issues with the new scoresteak system, animations, and TTK compared to other CoD games. However, Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War gameplay has great audio, weapon balance, and map design. Yeah he def said that it wasnt bad because of objectives it's bad because bad/mediocre players will have these op streaks at the end of the game where everyone will be using the crap out of them. Rewarding skill and objective play makes sense, but I agree that the end of matches will be hectic and potentially not fun
That's disappointing to hear about pistols. Black Ops 2 had amazing pistols, that were really useful; but feels like every COD after that they've been pretty mediocre.

Well they are sidearms. It makes sense to have them shoot nerf bullets. You pull it out fast as hell and it’s meant to finish a kill, not run around like a tool with akimbo renettis dropping nukes
bo3 1911 felt amazing. marshals were broken, some of the other ones were pretty good even as primaries. iw may have had some decent ones but i don't remember much since didnt play it. bo4 strife was definitely in my top 10 primaries to use. treyarch usually does very good pistols idk what happened

That enemy's movement at 4:02 is deeply concerning. Nobody moves that fast. It seems squirrely just like MW in the sense that 60% of deaths are jump strafes, and the other 40% are campers with the Origin 12
Good players jump strafe/drop shot because it keeps you alive. The only way you can prevent it is make everyone move like a snail, which nobody wants
Play Hardcore. Jump strafing and dropshotting are far less effective there.

I love mw 2019 but I also absolutely hate shipment the most out of every map. It's absolute chaos and it's a great undertaking to survive more than a few seconds after respawning
@@kostasz6258 the only reason I play shipment is when I put in double-xp-tokens to level up a weapon... Not fun, but at least you get a weapon unlocked faster than on any other map.

Agree has best sound and animations. But for me the worst multiplayer, dont know how they failed to balance the gameplay. Could have been the best multiplayer but ruined. This BOCW looks nice but needs some changes in animations and sounds.

Treyarch said some weapons are "intentionally" overpered like sniper rifles so they can gathered a data to balance it for the Beta

Really disappointing how “Modern” they’re trying to make the guns look instead of embracing the tech available for the time period. FYI: we didn’t have flat top Colts until 97 with the intro of the M4. Prior to that, we were mounting Aimpoint dots on the carry handles of Colt 733s. Really confusing how Treyarch can animate the dots mounted on the carry handle of the M16, but not the Colt. Also, can we move away from the burst M16? Or at least give players the option to swap to semi and full auto.

The weapon sound design is honestly the most disappointing thing about this game. The hitmarkers are louder than the guns ffs. If you use REAL guns atleast make them sound legit

I heard a rumour that the people that were responsible for gore and stuff, didn't want to because it caused them trauma or something. Like looking at how heads pop with guns, and watching execution vids to make it realistic.

This might sound weird, but I feel like MW (2019) set the bar TOO high for COD games. I mean, it’s COD. There SHOULDN’T be high expectations for COD since it’s released EVERY YEAR. It’s almost like hoping that the next NBA game is gonna be the best game of all time. Not to mention, they had 3 years for MW (2019) and 2 years for Cold War.
To be fair, they really focused on gameplay this time around, there isn't really a "meta" besides using the MP5 and even then that has its negatives, its the most balanced COD game to date and im glad they focused on gameplay and adding the best of MW to CW

One of the main reasons why I bought MW 2019 was because of the gunplay, sounds and animation.
I only bought it so I didn’t have to play fortnite anymore and it was one of my worst mistakes buying it on pc and ps4

I think care packages are the perfect way for low skill players to occasionally get higher steaks. Just make the odds like 1% or .5% for something like a chopper gunner. I was a noob in BO1 and care packages were the way I was able to get big steaks

I heard that even if they die after every kill, they’re going to have to get A LOT of kills to get a high end streak. Maybe they can tweak it in the beta or even until launch, and make it even harder for them to get those streaks.

Drift0r, good points on the audio man. I noticed that immediately when I had my first match using the AK. I’m use to a heavy sounding “chugging” aggressive audio to a beefy rifle like the AK and this game doesn’t have that. I was a bit offset by this initially, but once I noticed the other ambient and direct audio coming at me that was easier to hear, like footsteps you mentioned, and directional and positions movements could be noted, I came to appreciate it more. Hell, I wasn’t even wearing headphones for a few matches and I could tell which direction enemies were coming at me from.
I still would like a slightly better sound for the guns themselves to not sound like everything is “suppressed”, but if it means degrading other good quality audio types, I think I can live with a more “muted” sounds from the guns themselves.

MW is the single worse CoD ever made. Sure, the guns are kinda realistic and the graphics are pretty, but there is an endless list of things wrong with that game. This game is better, just by existing.

Some people will grow up thinking MW2019 was their version of BO2. black ops 2 was a great game for its time but if they were to release it today, it wouldn't be as good as you think it was (hit detection, weapon balance, zombies, etc). Same with things like Cod 4 remastered, Crash Bandicoot, etc.
BO2 was great at at the time but as technology gets better, so do games, so do our expectations of games.
Black Ops 2 was cod's peak. There will never be another game like it.
Zombie mode will make or break for me. Definately not as excited as when mw 2019 came out.

As for the kill streak debacle at the end of matches, just have your party switch to a SAM Turret loadout at the end of the game. Place the turrets at strategic points on the map where they're hard to see, but, also have great angles on the air support streaks and where they spawn in from.
Kinda a little worried , just about the streaks being almost free , just cost a lot of points but the dont reset that scares me
The XclusiveAce done a video on it, I thought it was gonna be awful but now after watching that video I don't really mind it.
After playing the alpha for a few hours I can tell you it really isn't as easy to get them as you think
I prefear this way, they really aren't that free since they reduced the points for one kill but increased the points for going on a kill streak. It rewards good play all around the match and not just a good play once.
So far no issues there. I went on a massive 15 streak and only scored a chopper. On regular maps for a regular player it won’t be all that common. Plus SAM turrets and the fighter group are perfect counters.
Atleast youll get rewarded for playing consistently well throughout the entire match. And not just get 1 lucky streak and now you have a chopper gunner but still barely a neutral KD
It's really triggering me that the aks74u has a 40 round drum mag. It should be a 40 round standard stick mag. I don't even think other than prototypes a 5.45x39 drum was even produced.

i cant imagine how anyone can like the sound design of this game, every time i get shot my sound is completely gone, the guns have literally no depth of character in gunshot and handling sounds and every sound just sounds so flat, like there is no depth at all in the sound design. Its just awful

I like the way they did the streaks because it means a team may not be out of a match. It also will allow the best players to get the streaks faster and more repeatedly. It's a good gameplay balancing mechanic.
I've never played CoD for any kinda of realism so I'm fine with the more arcady feel, the way it's mostly been.

I think that’s difference in taste... i love both arcade vs hardcore, even i am the worst realism fps gamer, i still enjoy eft vs sandstorm. But i’m disappointing in cold war...they undo many thing that MW archives...like they make gunsmith become half @ss version, like you literally changing outer look and stats but not the core of weapons like mw did. They add health bar which is questionable to me? I will still buying cold war but it will never ever replace mw2019

It is a terrible mode. It's all about covering the objective from mid to long range or just camp getting xp and letting the the real team and skillers get on with winning.

Also, modern warfare 2019 is the most satisfying cod to get kills in. The twitching hit marker, the head shot sound effect, the accurate realistic noise of every damn movement the gun made, was something that won’t be replicated again and it really makes this game just feel bland

@Aido paido la billo agreed, the graphics aren't a deal killer for me, I'm more focused on gameplay. However I've seen people claiming the graphics in the alpha were better than 2019 so I was genuinely asking for other opinions to see if I'm the only one experiencing this.

they won't, the Warzone game mode will likely have its own launcher and will just get Black Ops items such as guns and operators but it will likely use the same Modern Warfare engine.

I feel like the Scorestreaks section should be split into 2 like MW3 but you have both. So support streaks that don't reset on death and regular that do. You can pick 3 from each section. That seems a lot better imo

@@loganperry6540 IW didn't match all the community's expectations but did a great job on free content flow, the mtx model, ground war, gunfight, the gunsmith and weapon customization, killstreaks, cod maps remastering (except for shipment lol) and other minor things. Cod may be one franchise but IW and Treyarch always had different vision of FPS design.
the guy who was consulted for the gun animations, sound, etc actually has a youtube channel about guns and stuff. he knew his stuff and it showed in modern warfare

I have to say it was a breath of fresh air seeing your game play and you actually playing the objective for the most part. (I get distracted at times too) I hate seeing "the pros" playing objective games and literally running past every dogtag they drop.
The overarching problem is that it just feels uninspired. It doesnt feel like youre fighting in the cold war.

MW was a huge step forward for the CoD franchise. No matter what you may think they did wrong, it's obvious that IW put a lot of hard work and love into this game, developing an almost entirely new engine, providing a very advanced graphical presentation and pushing new features (Gunsmith, mini map changes, Gulag in Warzone, different map design etc.). You could immidiately tell from things like dynamic movement or gun behaviour that it's not just some classic old CoD anymore, but rather something along the lines of a mix between CoD and Battlefield. And honestly it was great. IW once again pushed brand new technology, like they did with the original CoD and CoD 4.
Black Ops Cold War, though? It's quite obviously a downgrade, and you can immidiately see that it runs on older technology. Yes, it caters to people who kept complaining about the TTK and map design and seemingly fixes these issues, but everything else is such a letdown compared to MW. I understand that this game has been through development hell and everything, but with three proper studios working on it together? I expected them to push the new technology, not revert it back to BO4.

One thing they could do for pistols is just to make em super super quick to take out, while keeping them relatively weak. So they're the ultimate 'Last ditch effort' when you gotta reload or the enemy's weak and you need the extra speed to catch up

I also think people will earn them at various times throughout the game. People are still more skilled than others, people earn more points than others. Top SPM players may earn their most lethal streaks mid game whereas others will earn them 3/4 of the way through or even not at all

tbh the animation and sound downgrade is a huge deal for me. i am so happy with the way they are animated in mw19. they finally, finally got it right. but i dont see myself stepping down from that. its a massive part in how a weapon feels in a game.
Ikr i was expecting a big step up from mw like insurgency tier sound design and animations now it looks like their back to the old lets make our game look and sound like a mobile game trope

Nah that’s the engine it’s self, modern warfare is on a brand new engine where as Cw is on the bo4 engine, the gun animations, the sound design, the ballistics, all are pulled back to old black ops im personally disappointed

I think the colour is exactly the sweet spot between visibility and reality. You can see people, there is not so much trash and debri on the screen but at the same time is not like you had a neon aura around your char.

that's what I just commented. MW sounds 100x better than cold war. directional sound may be better in cold war to hear footsteps and stuff but in no way does cold war's sound design sound better than MW. The Guns in cold war sound like bb guns atm

I’m happy with how the gameplay looks and happy it’s going back to a traditional play style, and I’m not worried about animations since the team said they will work on them since they are a big concern.
Treyarch barely had time to make this game, and I’m surprised it even as good looking as it is. I’m happy they are now getting to the actual important things first like the maps and will have time to come back for extra stuff like animations.
The best way to describe my opinion is “cautiously optimistic”. I accept that the game might be lacking because Treyarch had so little time to work on it, but it looks decent so far. Overall, I’ll reserve judgement, but if anyone can make this work, it’s the people over at Treyarch.

I really don’t understand his beef with Warzone staying relatively the same. The mechanics of MW19 are much more suited for a BR than it seems BOCW would be. Also, if them not having to develop a new BR gave them time and resources to put in a solid campaign and zombies mode, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Warzone is arguably the best BR to date so I don’t see why it would be given up on so soon when plenty of others have stayed going strong for so long. I think a new map and new guns and operators would be just fine.

They should definitely go back to Og score streaks, in the end they should hold release till next year either February or March or just next November to polish it up a lot.
I really don’t get the issue with the mine.
Compared to just spawning with a claymore, the mine spam has been rather light with it being a recharge ability.
Even without engineer, they stick out like sore thumbs compared to mines in previous CODs.
I was just having a conversation with my friend that if they drastically reduce flinch I’d be happy with Cold War no matter what else changed lol the COD gods were listening apparently.
I really hope the sounds and the rest of the problems will be fixed in the full game release
