    • @MaicSalazarDiagnostics
      @MaicSalazarDiagnostics  7 років тому +3

      myscooby841 I use engine degreaser, brake cleaner, screw drivers, picks and lots of paper towels. This is a hard carbon to clean because is wet and super messy, I remove as much as posible with a rag and screw drivers first then apply the degreaser, after that I cover with a rag and blow air to dry and start again, it is a long process.

    Hi,
    Thanks for this great video, very useful!
    Did you do the transmission removal as well? You were mentioning about possibly will be making separate video for it, for crank seal replacement? Or that leak appeared to be only from the oil coolant?
    Thanks.

  • @nico-toscani

    Thanks for the video, but what was really causing these leaks? There was definitely turbo seal leak, but something else? Oil cooler seals were old, but did they were damaged? What about main crankshaft seal?

    • @MaicSalazarDiagnostics
      @MaicSalazarDiagnostics  5 років тому +2

      Well it is a combination of problems. The air filters, fuel filters, carbon deposits from EGR not serviced on time and so on, and the obvious mileage.

    • @nico-toscani
      @nico-toscani 5 років тому +1

      So you didn't changed the crankshaft seal? All you did in these two videos, was enough to fix the problem?

    • @MaicSalazarDiagnostics
      @MaicSalazarDiagnostics  5 років тому +2

      Correct, the bottom leak was actually coming from the top thru drain holes.

    Hey, can oil cooler leakage find its way to the water coolant?

    • @MaicSalazarDiagnostics
      @MaicSalazarDiagnostics  5 років тому

      Kilonzo Muithya it can happen, but I have not seen it yet. All the oil coolers I have fix have just been a messy oil leak on the engine valley. But if left for too long and if the cooler coolant seals get damaged too then the mix can happen.

      Make sure that the fuel filter was installed full. And before crank, turn ignition on for 3 min, then off. Repeat that 5 times to bleed any air and pressure the system.

    Mr Salazar
    Great information and tutorial. Just bought wife an 08 GL 320. CDI. 98k. Supposed to have dealer maintained. That's what scares me with regards to the unchanged claimed updated purple seals. I feel confident I could do this job if needed in future. Would a 5/40 oil hinder these leaks. What oil would you recommend, rotella t6?
    Thank! Les

    • @MaicSalazarDiagnostics
      @MaicSalazarDiagnostics  6 років тому

      Les Craig I will not use Rotella since is not for regular vehicles and more important even Shell does not recommend it for any automobile bearing a catalytic converter. I will recommend the Mobil one better. Same as in this video.

    • @cmack864
      @cmack864 4 роки тому

      Les Craig stick with good 229.51 there are 5w40 options out there. There is no version of rotella that is low SAPS enough to have the mb spec requirement. Higher SAPS will most likely cause earlier DPF failure. I have an 08 ml320.

      NicoToscani
      Hi, Nico, not loosing any oil. Just doing as a preventative measure as I need to clean my inlet manifolds as swirl flaps are intermittently sticking. If I'm going that deep then another half hour to do the oil cooler seals is OK.

    • @MaicSalazarDiagnostics
      @MaicSalazarDiagnostics  5 років тому +1

      @@luismanzo9010 . Check intake and charge air lines for leaks. Visually inspect all air lines for oil leakage, cracks, incorrect fitment, or pinched/damaged o-rings. Please refer to service bulletins S-B-09.20/29 and S-B-07.07/83 in related documents.
      2. Check both engine air filters. Clogged filters can cause faults to appear in the Electronic Control Unit (ECU).
      3. See the related documents to help with how the air and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) systems flow.
      Check the inlet pipe at the turbo. That seal goes bad all the time.
