love your stuff and the way you approach the concepts.. i am fascinated by the concept of procedural textures... could you PLEASE do a beginners tutorial on the subject... i can see many uses for this filter thanks Jerry
Hi @jeromekimmel4256, thanks for the suggestion! Procedural textures is on my list of topics to cover. I need to brush up a bit on the topic before I make a video on it, but it is something I'm interested in covering. Stay tuned!
Hi @koichokoev, are you talking about the Blend Options? Yes, that is another way to do it. Perhaps I'll address that in a follow-up video. I wanted to keep this one relatively simple. I do have some videos on Blend Options, and it is a fairly advanced concept based on the questions I've gotten.
@@TechnicallyTrent I know you have a detailed video on blend options, but short videos like this with quick demonstrations of the blend options would be neat. Please make a short video like this showcasing blend options.
Trent, great videos. When you isolated the white dress and we're satisfied with "refine" you had the option of creating a mask, or a new layer and layer with mask. I get lost on the difference at that point. Why would you choose one over the other?
Hi @bennettandyp, thanks for watching! The output method just depends on what is easiest for your particular scenario. Some people just might want a Selection after they refine, others may want to jump straight to a Mask, and so forth. Affinity could have made the output just be a Selection and then you could manually create the Mask or duplicate the layer and then Mask, but they added those other options as a shortcut. Hope this helps!
I forgot to mention that New Layer does something extra called Color Decontamination. I go over the details in my Selection Brush video here: ua-cam.com/video/LvH7avj6efE/v-deo.html&ab_channel=TechnicallyTrent
thanks for going ahead with the procedural textures suggestion. i have been working through these 2 sites and would welcome your down to earth approach to this technique. i have found this series quite helpful www.youtube.com/@plasmaportl as well as the tutorials "inaffinity" thanks so much Jerry
Another great Affinity Photo video. Thanks.

Hi Trent,
Thanks for the video. You can also use Recolor to add color. Just FYI.
Hi Doug, good point, that is also an option!
Very informative and useful.
Blend-if is the key of good blending in this case.

@@el0senor0wino0 Sure, I will try to work Blend Options into an upcoming video!
