    I ordered a goatskin Heritage a week ago and just came across this video. Thanks for the good timing, brother. I’m glad I went for the goat. Super excited to get the package!

    This Bible in the goatskin has been my EDC since 15th November 2021, thus I didn't need to watch this but I did anyway cause your videos are awesome! Got a Legacy too but going to sell it as this is my favourite by far. Thank you for the awesome videos, keep it up - praying for you brother Tim! 😀

    This could well be my favourite text block. I like the look of the Legacy but I think the headings in the margin would annoy me. Also nice to see some space in the gutter to bring the text out. Niiiiiice!

    The Heritage seems to be what I wish the Clarion was, would be nice to see a Clarion versus Heritage (Short fat single column shootout).
    A Heritage versus Legacy comparison would be nice too. It seems like the Heritage would be easier to read (shorter line length and more generous spacing, and a half point bigger text).

      Great idea! I probably prefer the layout of the Clarion a bit more… but the size of the Heritage works better for me.

      @@timwildsmith does the clarion have spine hubs or is it just tooled? I really like that the clarion is better for study with the concordance and cross-references. But since it's the 2011 esv text, I wonder if it would be better to wait for them to update it to the 2016 before investing.

      @@pappywinky4749 tooled ribs on the Clarion… but I do think they’ve published 2016 editions. Might want to verify with Cambridge.

    Really nice line spacing in that block; the words aren't so crowded and it's easier to read and follow. VERY NICE Bible there!

    I got an LSB handy size edge lined goatskin Bible just before the new year. I have never been a single column guy before. I tell you, this is one of my favorite bibles in terms of layout. I find it so easy to read. I actually have read it daily since I bought it.
    So I thought I’d give the ESV single column a try both in Heritage and Legacy. For me, the script is too condensed and I have trouble following the text.
    Now I understand the LSB is verse by verse, to the layout has more spacing because of that.
    So I guess if ESV comes out with a verse by verse single column layout printed in the Netherlands, I will be totally onboard with that.
    Regardless they are nice bibles and I appreciate you taking the time to do these reviews. Thanks again for sharing.

    Nice video Tim. I’m new to premiums. After watching more of your videos than I’d care to admit, I broke down and bought one. Do you recommend storing in the box when I’m not reading it? I noticed on some of your videos you have some stacked on your shelves. (Maybe a video about premium Bible care in the future?) Thanks for all the work you do!
    Josh

    • @timwildsmith

      Thanks, Josh! I don’t think keeping it the box is necessary if it’s in a same space (ie. horizontal on a shelf)… but boxes are a nice way to store if it’s around kinda, pets, or other possibly precarious situations!

    Thank you for putting out such great reviews, and they have been tremendously helpful in guiding me in my Bible search. I have the Clarion, and I love everything about it. Recently, I've had some issues with my vision arise and the 8.75 typeset is starting to get a little difficult. Is there much of a difference between the 8.75 Clarion and 9.25 Heritge typesets? Is the slight typeset size and lead-in difference a possible reason to consider getting the heritage? Also, what are the measurements of the Bible from the edge of the cover to the other (is the 5.5x8.25 the measurements for the text block?)?

    • @timwildsmith
      @timwildsmith  2 роки тому

      The actual type size is nominal, but the spacious leading in the Heritage makes it easier to read for me. That trim size is the textblock, so with the cover it’s slightly larger.

    I noticed at 4:42 you mention it was printed at Royal Youngblood (Jongbloed); however, it only says it's printed in the Netherlands. Do you know for sure it is printed at Royal Youngblood? There is a lot of things I like about this Bible, although before purchasing I want to be 100% certain about where it's printed/bond. Really have been enjoying your videos. Thanks!

      For future reference, if you look at the bottom of that page where there are numbers across the bottom, you will see JONG. For instance, if it was RR, Donnelly and sons, it would say RRDS. the top number at the far right indicates the year that the unit was printed and the bottom is which printing. So the unit that he is reviewing this video is a Royal Jongbloed printed in 2021 and it was the first printing of this model.

    As usual the ribbons are lacking for the price you pay and the cover material. They need to be longer and probably wider. I have my eye on getting the Heritage but can’t justify the cost, even on sale. But you never know!

    How does the ghosting compare to the single column personal size?

  • @youcatastrophe6434
    @youcatastrophe6434 Рік тому

    At one point in this video, Tim mentions that single column text takes up more room (requires more pages, basically) than double column text. And… for the life of me I cannot figure out how this could be the case. Logically and intuitively, it *seems* to me that you would actually be able to fit more words into a single page with a single column.
    The only thing I can come up with is that if you took a standard double column text, and changed it over to single column - but kept the text and line spacing the *exact* same - the single column would clearly fit more words onto the page.
    But… it would look very cluttered. So maybe it’s the fact that single column text by nature needs more breathing room that makes it require more pages?
    Can Tim or someone else explain this to me?

    • @youcatastrophe6434
      @youcatastrophe6434 Рік тому

      Great video, by the way! I actually just ordered the Heritage (in goatskin).
      My current favorite layout/block is my LSB handy size (1st edition). But I prefer the ESV over the LSB for everyday reading and memorization.

    • @souldier2425
      @souldier2425 2 місяці тому

      In this case it takes up more space because they have wider margins and less words per line for a better reading experience. Plus all the sections in the poetic setting takes up more space. Double column allows one to use up more space without having too much words per line.

    man I am seriouly hesitating between the legacy and the heritage. I like the size of the heritage but the subtitles and the lack of concordance prevents me from going straight to it, the legacy size and font size makes me hesitate. What a struggle.

    • @souldier2425

      In this case it's because the Bible is already thick. Making it 36 would make it way too thick
