I love how simple the bible is. I ordered one for my wife who would never want a fancy looking bible, but appreciates the nice paper when she's reading.

Please do a crash test on your bible. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a UA-camr intentionally carry around a bible for an extended amount of time in order to see how it wears. It would be an interesting and unique video. I would definitely watch it. And as someone who really uses their bibles, I think that you could definitely put it to the test!

I'm doing this with the Heirloom Heritage ESV in Horween. Using it daily for a year with weekly photos & videos to see if Crossway's claims about this leather's appearance over time will stand up to actual daily usage. Honestly, I was not impressed at the start, out of the box the black goatskin edition was superior, and a month into the daily use with the Horween I'm still not impressed. It shows dings and scratches and fingerprints - call that character if you like, but I'd get the same results from typical rubbery imitation leather for 10% of the price. Maybe in another 6 months I'll feel different about it.

@@1517the_year I wrapped up a year+ of daily use in January with the Horween Heirloom Heritage. Understanding that I bought the Horween edition explicitly for a year-long test, other than dings and scratches being VERY obvious it certainly did not "age" nor "patina" at all, and I chuckle at all the other reviews I've seen where people claim otherwise. Maybe a tad darker due to hand oil and sweat but nothing dramatic. The kind of actual genuine interesting patina happens to wallets carried in pockets for years, not to Bibles held or manipulated for at most an hour or two a day. Also, anyone who displays "wrinkles" in the leather is actually showing where internally the Horween leather cover has separated from the calfskin liner - the glue bonding them together has been damaged and now no longer holds them as a single unit, allowing the exterior to wrinkle. I look at that as a damaged Bible and personally would never buy a used one in that condition. Finally, as a test, the test showed me that the claimed unique aging & patina is simply not true, at least not in a one year daily use test. Had I actually bought this thinking maybe the $100 cost above that of goatskin somehow indicated that it was better - oh no. No no no... If that had been my intention I'd be angry. The goatskin edition was superior in appearance and feel and durability on the day I stood in Crossway's HQ store and compared the two side by side. Were I to buy another Crossway Bible any time soon it would never again be in Horween.

I have the MacArthur Study Bible NASB in Goatskin. The leather is amazing. I also ordered the LSB in goatskin. Horween leather is really nice stuff. It looks beautiful on that Bible!

I love your Bible reviews. I had been watch videos on translations and driving myself crazy on which word-for-word translation should I get. In the end I ended up getting a NKJV for myself my wife picked up an ESV . I enjoyed your videos on both of them. THANKS!
Great review content Matt. You covered all the bases. I’m not especially fond of this format. I found it distracting having the little “picture in picture” covering a portion of the photos.
Take it for what it’s worth (which isn’t much) but I prefer the video review format.
Now in August 2023, these are very elusive. Hard to even find one to be had. Crossway says it's out of print. But in September 2023 they'll have "Wellington" leather. Not sure how that will compare....
I am intrigued about preachers who refer people to crack open their Bibles as the preaching happens to look together at what God's word says. I almost never hear a preacher do that. It might be because a lot of preachers are talking about themselves so much.

I'm stuck between using the NKJV or the ESV. What's a Christian to do? Memorization is paramount and shifting between translations makes it harder. Any advice Pastor Everhard?

Good review, Matt. I agree that verse numbers should either be larger, or bold, or in a different color to make them easier to locate. I love Cambridge Pitt Minions, but finding verse numbers can really be trying sometimes. As a reader, this Crossway is beautiful, but $330 is a bit steep. A Cambridge Clarion would be a much less expensive alternative, and with references to boot!

Honestly, I didn't miss the video. Good review and I'm sure it took less time to create overall. If I want to see overhead video or people fondling the leather over and over, I can watch four or five other channels.

Does this Bible your selling make the same mistake as all other modern versions? Did Joshua and Caleb, who both followed Moses out of Egypt, not enter the promised land?
You hawk the looks of your sale item, but what of the content?
Perhaps all who bought this book from you should check it's reading at Heb 3:16 and if it has this mistake they should return for full refund.
