Charles Wright a.k.a the Godfather recently spoke on Insight with Chris Van Vliet on how he was unahppy with being apart of the Right to Censor faction and how he took things out on Stevie Richards. In this clip, Stevie will give his thoughts on those comments and his feeling on his relationship with the Goodfather at the time.

For Stevie to look at the logistics of the situation instead of being emotionally personal about it, shows Stevie is a true class act.
It's hardcore. King of swing was comedic foil in ecw but he was impressively self aware in the circumstances. .
When do you go from class act to door mat? 🤷♂️
Couldn't agree more. Admire stevie a lot. Somehow I always knew he was a reasonable n empathetic guy even during stevie night heat 😄
Yeah well he ain’t some pansy gen z kid, he isn’t going to play the poor little victim and cry about it

I met Stevie many years ago back in the old ECW days. I went to many shows at the arena, and then ended back at the Travelodge Hotel on Penrose Ave. He was an extremely nice guy (To be honest, most of the guys were good guys, their personal demons aside)
Yeah he's a good dude 👌
"I'm not one of them. They've told me and shown me every day of my 31 years in the business - I do not belong it in. I do not fit in. I'm different."
Man, that hits so hard.
and yet still made a good living. dont let anyone run you off! tell their ass they better call somebody!!!
It's so sad. He was awesome.
BIG STEVIE COOL
That hit me hard
Stevie you were definitely awesome!!! Glad you did the Right to Censor… one of my favorite factions.
He and Maven are showing to all what class and humility are all about.
Maven comes off as fake nice. He said he would donate ALL proceeds from his channel to charity, then it blew up, and he never mentioned it again. IDC, but why say it then? He said every video would come with a poll as to what charity he should donate. He just seems like he is a great salesmen (he did work at QVC after all), and he knows how to fake being nice
@@RandallBallsMaven is a class A grifter. Not much different from most wrestlers.
@@RandallBalls
Also the way he worshipped Undertaker and blindly sided against his co-host on everything was pathetic. Parasite type shit.
Maven was one of the coolest wrestlers i ever chatted with. He took time to bullshit with me and my friend for a super long time at a tna show back in 06. Solid dude
I remember as a kid getting physically bullied for years and asking the same questions Stevie asked in this situation. Why me? What did I do? It takes a toll on you man. You begin to ask less questions and simply blame yourself. I deserved it. It's my fault. Etc. Sucks man. I feel for anyone that goes through that of any age.
In life those situation happen and if fortunate you identify the motive to work around it as best possible. In the wwf/wwe it looks like the bosses rigged it so to keep pay scale how they wanted.
Bullies generally are insecure and are seeking some form of validation. They could also be frustrated with things they deem unfair and decide to take it out on the people around them and not those that they are really upset with. It's a form of trying to make themselves feel a little bit better because they have no power to get back at those over their head.
Just remember it's not anything wrong with you. The bully is the one with the issue.
If you want I can come bully you and I will give you detailed answers so you do not suffer wondering why. would that help ??
Stay strong brother
I used to bully people....well, I wouldn't call it bullying. More along the lines of harassing (just to get a reaction) and the two kinds of people I had no fun being harassed were either the ones that blamed themselves (I left them alone) or the ones that were smart enough to ignore me. The ones that ignored me were either people that did the same and saw through my tactics or eventually learned after watching 👀 me get frustrated 😠 because I feed off reactions or responses and don't know what to do when I'm disregarded.
Oddly enough, harassing females is how I managed to overcome being shy of talking 👄 to women. Most of the time they'd respond positively and that'd throw me off (I was looking for a rejection reaction and trying to harass them by seeming like I wouldn't take no for an answer.
I also think Stevie was ahead of his time. If he broke in now I think he'd fit in a lot better with the roster being a lot less cutthroat and more supportive of each other.
Good talker... Decent worker..... Good guy..... Team player........ Every fed needs talent like that.
He got stuck with bad gimmicks The God Father was his best thing he had and it was taken from him js
@@adamsifford6228 That still isn't a reason to blame someone that did nothing wrong to him. That's childish and petty.

100% It really comes across whenever you see him speak, that in an industry with a lot of crazies and scumbags, he remained a really decent guy. Literally every time I see a video of Stevie's, I just think to myself what a nice guy he seems.
What a good guy stevie seems to be. He handled himself in the best way possible
Godfather took it out on Stevie over his issues with money and merch, but how he treated Stevie absolutely could have affected how much money Stevie was gonna make.
That's pretty shit.
There's name for it, like deflection or transference something, but he just couldnt confront his boss. Bosses probably wanted the tension there with Richards.
It’s pretty shit but I maintain, anyone and everyone has the capacity to be shit. Circumstances can dictate actions and as much as you’d love to see yourself as the one whose morals are coherent in every scenario, you never know what would bring the shit out in you. I don’t mean personally to you btw bro, I use the word you in the wider sense. Could be any of us.
The Godfather was a gift of a gimmick. It didn't require a ton of talent and he likely made great money in that role. That being said he could have made way more out of the Goodfather gimmick than he did. Not to mention the WWE always had new gimmicks for him, he should have sucked it up.
@@sampleoffers1978Displacement.
@@Quadster19easy to say from the cheap seats. He was saddled with numerous terrible gimmicks, finally found a gimmick that worked, then he has to do something he’s adamantly against. I would absolutely love to see Stevie as a producer or in some type of position to help young talent. This man exudes professionalism and definitely has the best intentions.
I would gather every penny I have and enroll to become a professional wrestler just to have Stevie as a teacher / coach. That's how much I respect Stevie.
I am absolutely, positively disgusted at how good of a human being that Stevie Richards is. This dude is such a kind and understanding man.
I hated right to censor as a kid which means they did a great job. Stevie was easily the most dislikeable heel at the time but in a brilliant way. Like he just said here, you need personalities. Id imagine they didn't think they could get away with Val or the Godfather anymore after the turn of the century because that is a huge loss to get rid of those characters.
I remember that time very well, and it's largely thanks to characters like Steven Richards. It was brilliant. He was brilliant.
Remember, God Father became Good Father primarily because of Right to Censor. I'd rather they'd gotten rid of Right to Censor if it meant keeping God Father, no matter how annoying Right to Censor was. And I had a feeling Good Father hated playing that role, even as a little kid thinking everyone chose their gimmicks. And something tells me McMahon wasn't a fan of God Father, probably being jealous that he wasn't the character.
A lot of people may disagree about this but Stevie and Maven are slowly becoming my favourite ex-wrestler UA-camrs. They both appear very humble and down to earth and talk about the business in a very “down to earth” way.
They're great, undertaker can't even string two sentences together without stammering, it's sad
Who disagreed

Always wanted to hear Richard's side on this about Godfather. Glad to hear it finally! It was hard to believe someone as nice and as chill as Godfather didn't like Richards who is also a really nice guy,
Godfather seems like a boring, vindictive, man chikd
Victim of circumstances.
Yeah, like younglove said... This is just one of the cases of a victim of circumstances. Both people that on their own, without external forces, very likely would have been good friends. It just so happened that Richards' path crossed with Charles at a time where he (Charles) was being told he couldn't have fun anymore. Which is all he ever viewed wrestling as anyway. Never saw himself as a wrestler, was only ever about being fun for him. Since he was making the same amount from the strip clubs he was partner in... Without getting his body beaten up and having to travel all the time.
Stevie comes off as one of the nicest guys in the business!
Quite honestly, Godfather passively aggressively threw a temper tantrum because he didn't wanna be in the RTC. He chose to be unprofessional and Stevie acted like a pro. Bitch move on Godfather's part.

The RTC is great television and a great gimmick. Having Goodfather and Val in the group was absolutely essential to make it legitimate. The stable should have dominated and then a slow face turn for Godfather again. The reduction in merch sales is tough, but on the entertainment side, the Goodfather was a nice change in character.

This level of breakdown and empathy for this situation tells you all you need to know about Stevie, this podcast from the start James and Stevie have said they gonna try be different, and look how different can a wrestling podcast really be. I assume because of projection that they assume authentically good people are just putting on a fake show to get what they want in a round about way. Only a guess though.
Yeah and to think Stevie stood up for Meanie against Bradshaw
I've been waiting for Stevie to respond to Godfather bullying him and not liking him.
Stevie is too nice of a guy!
I went from watchin a few vids of Stevie and blue meanie to watching every single goddamn interview and podcast this man has done. Right to censor had HEAT. I wish they had those storylines they mention here.
But damn this feels very intimate. Dude tells everything he knows and experienced in this industry. I feel like I can relate in a way, having been in music and art for 14 years. Just the bull and drama that comes with meetin all these people that you maybe used to think were cool dudes. And sometimes the shit they give you isn’t your fault.
Everything is strange behind the scenes.
Stevie, you’re a class act.
Stevie is so much of a great person, I just wish I wasn't so naive when I was young watching Wrestling. If I knew what I knew now about Stevie, I would of cheer for Stevie more in ECW and WWE.
Stevie Richards proves that he still has so much to give back to the business.
I'm just saying, from the first time I saw Stevie in WWE, he became one of my favorites. My friends and I brought signs to live events cheering on Stevie. This guy should have been pushed to the moon. His personality and skill in the ring is/was incredible.
both are great guys. it's incredible to see two rational MEN reflect on a situation and come away with the logical conclusion that often times circumstances influence behaviors and at this time circumstances beyond either's control were really manipulating their emotions
I’m new to this podcast. I genuinely like listening to
9:01 Ayyy, love that Wrestling Bios got a shout-out here, brilliant channel!
I love Stevie Richards. What a career. What an impact.
Ay, i say this a lot... But i'm gonna say it again. God Bless You, Steve! I love ya' dude! No weird shit. You're a really good person, and i look up to you... Thank you for being you, and God bless you!
I wanted to be a wrestler growing up now I appreciate why I didn't take that path. Who got time for the gaslighting and bullying? I'm from South Central Los Angeles. As square kid I got enough of that dodging gang bangers and bullies. Screw being worried about getting "Heat". I feel sorry for Stevie and people who feel they have no choice but to play that game.
I have been watching a few Stevie interviews and I just subscribed due to his immense class, intelligence and emotional intelligence. Take a lesson from Stevie in being a good person...many of his WWE peers could learn something from him.
This pisses me off because Godfather was upset with the gimmick costing him money, but Godfather acting out like that, and everyone else that bullied Stevie cost Stevie HIS chance at earning more money. James obviously feels for Stevie, after Stevie explains the situations he was in, James always looks at him with a certain look in his eyes like Stevie didnt deserve any of that. And Stevie didn't deserve any of that.
I hope you continue to grind and show them that you can be successful.
You were a convincing heel, you really played your character well. Miss seeing you perform🙂
I was always a fan
The RTC i love it
Wishing you all the good health
You definitely belong
You can tell it really hurt Stevie to be treated that way...
I think not fitting in is a marker of you being a much more well rounded human being. You are the winner Stevie, your perspective shows that.
Man stevie is a logical and stand up guy. Feel bad he had a hard time. But this guy is a strong dude.
I’ve always heard how much the different members of RTC hated it. But at the time, you wouldn’t know it on TV. Credit to each of them, they gave it their all and they were great heels at the time. They captured that moment in time, and turned it into entertainment. I genuinely hope they can each look back and be proud of the characters they created in that group and how great their performances as heels really was.
