George was one of the greatest harmony vocalists the world has ever seen.
Watching George to be this happy makes me to be glad all over...
Love watching george's feet. See them & he's having fun.
His Smile Could Brighten Up The Whole World!😀 God Bless.
His smile could make every infant giggle. All at once🔥

George and Dave’s harmonies are like ecstasy for your ears
If anyone could put a smile on George's face it was Carl Perkins! The Beatles absolutely loved the man. Let's not forget Dave Edmunds really killing it on vocals. Three talented vocalists up there having a great time!
It was Carl Perkins that got George back into the music buisness after a semi-retirement.
@Bradydog-in7ut yeah, I never understood why anybody thought he retired back then. He had a song out pretty much every year until his death. Retired from performing I suppose. I think his attitude was that he would do it for Carl. When he did the prince's trust concert he said he merely did it for Eric. I think he did something for Bob Dylan too. I guess when your friends ask that's when you do it.
@@magneto7930 After the Beatles experience, George had his fill of live performances. You had to be an idol of his (like Mr. Perkins) or a very good friend to get him on stage. He did a couple of live shows in Japan but not much more.
You can tell George is in his comfort zone here. He definitely progressed as an artist but playing good old rock n roll with a Gretsch guitar was always home for him.
ya you can tell he has a rock n roll soul like Carl and the look on Carl's face when GH solos is pure ecstacy
Carl Perkins really never got his due. Superb voice and entertainer.
A seminal figure in rockabilly and a great songwriter. One hell of a showman to boot.
Love watching Carl Perkins and George Harrison, They had so much love and respect for each other RIP boys ❤
Moi aussi 🌸💕🌸💖🌸💖
You can see the pride of singing harmony beside his greatest guitar idol all over George's face. He can hardly contain it.
George idolized Carl.
You can tell that George was having the best time in this special. He was in awe of his idol, Carl Perkins, and luckily for all of us, Carl was in excellent form. It's also great that Dave Edmunds was on board. Some of the best rockabilly ever heard!
I couldn't have said that any better!
Kent Theaker -Who would have thought that it would have been Carl Perkins who got George Harrison out of his music depression and straighten his ship back to some great music. But Carl seem to play that role more than once.
@@5inthehole A "Brief" Vaca' from that "Candy Apple" Slide addiction George somehow pigeonholed himself into for that (20) Year Period or so.....WONDERFUL too see em'' Strummin' & Chordin' away playin' that Rock n' Roll some again....Plus the TREASURE that is Dave Edmunds!!.....BRILLIANT!!....🍻🔥
George's happy to be with his idol since he was a teenager..
Yes, I thought the same thing, Dave also.
That was great! George looking so happy!
Carl Perkins was So Great!
George showing his amazing talent, gratefully because of UA-cam it will go on and on....
love watching George and Carl they so loved each other and so nice to see them healthy and happy
Amen!😀 God Bless.
Love George and Carl
True love (your love), true love (your love)
True love baby, that's what you give to me
True love (your love), your love (your love)
True love baby, that's what you give to me
God made the world and he made it round
I got my baby and I'm glad I found
Her love was meant for me
And my baby, she'll always be
She gives me true love (your love)
True love (your love)
True love baby, that's what you give to me
Uh, true love (your love)
Your true love (your love)
True love baby, that's what you give to me
True love (your love), your love (your love)
Your love baby, that's what you give to me
Love was made, I don't boast
When He made you, He made the most
You've got that certain touch
To me baby, you mean so much
You give me true love (your love)
Oh, true love (your love)
True love baby, that's what you give to me
(well, all right)
True love (your love)
Your true love (your love)
True love baby, that's what you give to me
Well, the big, the little, young and old
They all need something to have and hold
When I found you, I found that
You gave me loving I can't forget
You gave me true love (your love)
Your true love (your love)
True love baby, that's what you gave to me
True love baby, that's what you gave to me
after a concert at the amphitheater of the Tennessee A & I Fair in Knoxville I was standing at the hot dog stand and up walked Carl. I stuttered out how much he meant to me and offered to buy him a hot dog.( I know dumb), but he declined and said. "no thank you son me and boys got to hit the road". nobody better than Carl.
You are yourself a nice gentleman..
The Beatles were huge fans of Carl Perkins and Paul McCartney said that there wouldn't have been the Beatles without Perkins first. George Harrison even briefly adopted the stage name "Carl Harrison" in honor of Carl Perkins. Perkins numbers "Everybody Wants to Be My Baby" and "Honey Don't" were standards on the Beatles concert list. After hearing "Your True Love" I'm surprised that the Beatles didn't record a cover of it themselves. George and Carl are obviously having a blast performing it in this clip. George later performed it at Carl's funeral.
Excuse me, it's "Everybody's trying to be my baby"..
Carl and i HAD LUNCH IN his restaurant and we talked about Songs, art, and God, Carl was a good man and my dad Earl Fly did Shows with him .
Carl & George Are Rockin' it In Heaven! God Bless.
Impecable sublime George
Don't Forget, " The Quiet Beatle". God Bless.😀
Love how the musicians in the background smile when George really rips into it.
Another thing about this clip? It shows just how great a "sideman" George Harrison was. Years of back-up singing and playing guitar riffs for Lennon & McCartney comes through in this number. He's so familiar with Carl's songbook that you can just picture the Beatles playing this number and having a blast doing it.
Agree, and the Beatles certainly did play this song in the early days before fame, not to mention them covering his other songs.
Check out the live at the BBC albums for George in full on Carl Perkins mode. I can remember a quote where John lennon said in Liverpool nobody could touch us when we played rock. The BBC radio shows are as close to a cavern set around 1962 or early 63
@@FenderTele No one was better than the Beatles at playing old-school rock & roll. The proof is there for anyone to listen to. Their covers of other artists' songs were often so good and acclaimed that many people probably thought those were Beatle originals, like "Twist & Shout" and "Roll Over Beethoven."
@@Femsa2012 I liked how they always went for obscure songs it set them apart from other bands. I'm sure in early 60s Liverpool every band was playing johnny b goode. The beatles stepped things up playing obscure b sides as well as Johnny b goode
@@FenderTele All the Liverpool groups covered other artists' work; when Ringo joined the Beatles his solo number for their concerts was "Boys" which was a number he'd already been doing with Rory Storm & The Hurricanes.
Dave killllling it!!! So good
George was in his element with his friends and his hero.RIP Beatle
George never looked this happy playing with The Beatles
Qué bien que están los tres!! Carl Perkins en gran forma, Dave Edmunds tiene una voz y swing fantásticos y George está radiante, libre y feliz como nunca se lo vio en los Beatles. Gran versión de un clásico del rockabilly. Puro goce!!🎼🎵🎶🎤🎸🎸❤❤
I truly love this song!
I think George felt more at home here than with the Beatles!
I had the same feeling the moment he stepped to the mic for his verse. But the Beatles were always at home with Carl Perkins material, so it was in his musical DNA. But with Dave Edmunds, this was a heck of a trio. They could have been contenders. (Maybe they should have formed a group, The Contenders.)
Agree, the Beatles absolutely loved Carl Perkins. Paul, George, and Ringo have all played with him and John had sang his songs.
SUFFICE IT TO SAY WE WONT SEE THEIR LIKES AGAIN. I WAS BLESSED TO BE BORN A BOOMER.
True entertainers!!!
Perkins one of George's influences and idols
Wow even Paul got in on the action by inviting Carl to his place, total inspiration, soul rock and blues he was a true master.
I've loved Carl since the "SUN" days, George since the 60's, "Beatles" days, & Dave when he came out with, "I Hear You Knockin' days! They do a great version of this song here, love it! 👌😘
Simply amazing!
God bless Carl and George...legends ❤
Hard to beat, Cousin Carl, George Harrison and Dave Edmunds.
Perkins, what a boss
Georges Harrison 💖💕💖🌸💖🌸💖🌸💖
What a humble and nice man George was! We miss you George, hope you are somewhere in some form we living humans don't yet understand. And I hope you're singing and playing your guitar!
Cool Cat Carl.The real deal
My funeral song. Thank you. Nuff said.
Best clip on you tube. And now I'm done. Live no more
Carl's Way 😎! God Bless.
Maestros !!!
Now that’s what I call music. Anything with “ahhhhs.”
Fantastic.
Carl the one and only Rockabilly. Great❤❤❤❤
Ricky Nelson sang a real nice version of this one. Ricky loved Carl Perkins !
Great stuff love that
3 of my lovers ❤❤❤
Absolutely georgus 👍👍💕💕
superbe guitaristes ! j'adore
What does that mean?
She called them superb guitar players, then said she adores them.
shoknifeman2 mikado Ok thanks.
Its like Tom Jones and Elvis merged into one person and Carl came out. What a musician!
Dave Edmunds was a real cutie too! 😍😘
"'George Harrison chartered a jet to come to my Dad’s funeral,' Stan [Perkins] says. (Carl Perkins died in 1998) 'And let me tell you something - George had a reputation as the "quiet Beatle," but he never stopped talking in real life. He told me, "If it hadn’t been for your Dad, I don’t know that I would have ever even picked up a guitar." That solo on "Can’t Buy Me Love" - that’s Daddy, start to finish.'"
God misecirde in yours
George was back at the Cavern with this one:)
Limehouse Studios...London...October 21, 1985
Precioso
I'm seventeen boy (in 85") and love her
Georgie was so fuckin' cool....
Brilliant!!!
I like how Carl would refer to George and Eric Clapton as "his pupils".
George 5'11" , Carl 6'1", Dave Edmunds 5'9", Ringo 5'7", Eric 5'10"
Perfect
I WAY prefer this to his big hit Blue suede shoes
Not me. I do love it though.
i used to own the ranch above harrisons home in malibu hills
This is from Limehouse Studios in England -- not New Jersey.
Geil
Don't forget about Micky Gee and Dave Charles!
On the Ricky Nelson EP label for this song title, it says "J. Anderson"-- who is that?
(BTW the other song on that side is the COLE PORTER "True Love" which George did in a video with a canoe and a boater hat.)
your love- ahh ahh-
🤘🇧🇷
Here is some style...
Be nice if the title included Dave Edmunds name as well.
Grand diose
I always felt that whereas Elvis' music appealed more to the ladies Carl's was more "guy" oriented. Not to say Elvis didn't rock but Carl seemed to exude more pure testosterone...
Really!🙄
You forgot Dave Edmunds playing guitar and singing the third verse on the left, come on!
We have lost so much, turn on the radio today and what do you get? the stuff you find on the floor in a Parrots cage.
Dżordżi❤
It was Elvis who copied his song like "Blue Suede Shoes"..why that's true - because Carl Perkins wrote that song gardemet!
Who was singing with George there? doing the harmonies.
Dave Edmunds
@@johnathans_account2107 Thanks! They did amazing there!
@@topsyturvyy4558 they sure did :) Love the mixture of George and Dave together!
@@johnathans_account2107 The greatest stars from both sides of the Atlantic, Pure Gold! RIP Carl Perkins and George Harrison.
Everytime I see this clip I get angry because it states it is at the Capitol Theater, but it isn't. It;s not even in the USA. The Studio was Limehouse Studios London.
In 1985 Carl Perkins meant very little to Americans except as a guy who had one hit record "Blue Suede Shoe".
In the U.K. he was always revered as a rock legend where these superstars first became interested in rock 'n' roll, and many took up playing guitar because of him.
Now you want to bask in his limelight & say it was filmed it the USA. Well it WASN'T, as I said it was in the UK at Limehouse studios. Now alter the heading to read the correct location if you've got the balls to be honest in your life for once.
With a backup band of A-listers, including Mickey Gee
6forte...però...emmm george...baby?
What a double fun if McCartney was there too.....
I think it was as good as it could be. I think Dave Edmunds organized it. Great rockers rocking out!!!
med8tor1 He would've tried to be in charge of everything, and completely ruin it..
McCartney and Harrison wouldn't have shared a stage back then
I disagree, he was part of the Concert For George and things went exceedingly well on that night.
I think Ringo is in this somewhere but I am not Sure
carl perkins the white chuck berry
"play that handsome guitar"....lol
If UA-cam was around in medieval times it would have been ThouTube
Cat Stevens is so superior to the others it hurts! Just phenomenal
Huh?
