I got to see Ringo w Beach Boys on Miami Beach, ‘85, Paul at 🏈🏟️two nights in a row, set Eric’s speakers in the top trusses of the Miami Arena, Journeyman tour, Joe Walsh w Eagles, we could go on, and on, so glad we can pull up and cast the past into our living rooms, what? 😎🎸😂🎶🎥🥁👯♀️🥀, Ronnie Wood 3 times… walking out 👋🏼💋.

He typically does really well with rockabilly/country tunes. His Beaucoups of Blues album is all country and it’s actually really solid
Carl Perkins was not only a pioneer of rockabilly/rock n’ roll but one of the most humble musicians of all time.. you can tell how much he appreciated when artists like the Beatles found joy in playing his songs (most of which he wrote too)
So love Carl, he's so cool, humble and an amazing musician. Love his work......underrated. 😀

You have to remember that a George Harrison was a huge Carl Perkins fans. That’s why the Beatles did them.

Surely Ringo's best performance ever. Best vocals and most rock steady beat he ever laid down. Everyone in this show was on fire that night. A true masterpiece rock n' roll show for the ages.

I've heard so many drummers rank Ringo as really a great under-rated drummer...I play stringed instruments guitar/ bass and never realized this, but, the more i listen i hear why...he is just so natural and makes it look easy. His fills are like always perfectly placed with perfection. His timing is spot on always. He makes the others around him play well thru his steady perfect playing.
I'm a guitarist and bassist, and I've always said it was Ringo who taught me to groove. Most of my early guitar learning involved strumming an acoustic guitar along with Beatles songs.
Carl is brilliant. This take shows Ringo's great experience. No prob.

Watching Ringo do this so effortlessly is a reminder that while he may not be a technical genius, his ability to sing, hold a groove and do what the song demands of him means he remains one of the best rock drummers of his generation. His drum fills probably won't make it into drum books, but the way he approaches his drumming is something every drummer can learn from.
I think you are wrong on one point, I think his fills will be in drum books, if not already, other drummers speak of him how to immitate his style, I don't see any drummer coming close to him, you are right he may not be a techinical genius but does he have to be, cheers.

There is something magical in who can 'sing' as a front man. Ringo has that power and charisma and chops -- he pulls it off with ease. He's a 'star' indeed!
Sat down, the song starts, and Ringo proceeds to lay down the fattest, solid, frieken' groove I've possibly ever heard!
Didn't even phase him to do some rolls here and there while he was singing. Executed perfectly and back to the beat right on time.

@@sean6992 All the times where man created sounds (In a personal way or not. In an artistic way or whatever it is called) ARE VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE CONSTANT LEARNING OF THE FOLLOWING GENERATIONS. The ancient age, and especially the Middle Ages, have given us masterpieces such as the Baroque period. Bach, Vivaldi, Händel and other teachers are a legacy to even rockers from the years believed to be THE BEST (40, 50, 60, 70, 80 ...) Why just mention a few decades?

There are some exceptions though e.g. Oasis, Nirvana, The White Stripes, Daft Punk and Beck to name only the ones that come to me now.

First time I ever heard this song was when the Beatles covered it. Then, I backtracked to Carl after finding out he wrote it. It's such a cool song and even though I was never a big country music fan, this songs hits home. Great beat, good lyrics and just a fun tune.

Ringo is on fire here, the vocal is so free never heard it like this before, as for the drums what can you say, it has been said he is a song drummer, whatever the song needed he was there, he didnt show off in any way. that was a very special night, as a last comment they have been talking about Ringo's drumming for over 60 years and I dare say will be in another 60 years.

This is actually a clip from a televised concert that was taped live at Limehouse Studios in London, England on 21 October 1985. The show featured rock n' roll pioneer Carl Perkins along with friends as guest stars, including Eric Clapton, former Beatles George Harrison and Ringo Starr, as well as Dave Edmunds who acted as musical director for the show. Most of the repertoire performed in the concert consisted of Perkins' classic rockabilly songs from the 1950s. It was the first public performance by George Harrison in more than ten years.

Cinemax or HBO showed this concert back in mid 80's. I purchased it on DVD a few years ago. The video quality could be better but it is a great show.
I thought that was Dave Edmunds. I like a number of songs Carl Perkins performed. The people who only know him as the writer of Blue Suede Shoes are really missing a lot. Carl Perkins was a great songwriter, Ringo is simply a GREAT.

Every night I read the news for maybe 15 minutes before going to bed. Then I say a little prayer: Dear Lord, let it be 1955 again when I wake up.
One special aspect of Ringo’s playing is that he plays just a fraction ahead of the beat, so he keeps everyone else from slowing down (at least as i observe). I grew up with the Beatles, loved them and their songs...I’m now on a country music journey, and here they show up again with the brilliant Carl Perkins!

This is so cool and fun to watch all these years later. Just looking at the date here and thinking about what the music scene was like back in 1985 and this was so far out of being cool back in those days, I would have been surprised had they not drawn a very big audience. and thats very sad....and imo just goes to show you music started down a bad path right around that time period. However thank goodness that a lot of old rockers kept the good music going and by the early 90s a lot of the bands from the 70s made a big come back and made a lot of great new music!!

Ringo’s drumming is far more than just beating, it’s musical. I’m looking for a cover capable of the same. Never saw. He plays like a soft Ferrari or Mercedes. Easy and fluent. No turbulence at all.

It's so cool that Ringo did a Carl Perkins tune that was covered with The Beatles. And Carl Perkins does his own song, but brings Ringo in to cover the vocals. It shows the admiration they had for each others music. The Beatles idolized guys like Carl Perkins and Little Richard. It was the music that they wanted to play because they grew up with it.
